I have gotten the falafel platter with rice here every time I come to Morristown for work. It is always SO freaking good. The falafels are super crispy with great flavor, some of the best I have ever had. The hummus and baba are both also excellent. The salad is a nice romaine with a light, creamy dressing that is not just an afterthought of crappy lettuce thrown in as filler, but a perfect accompaniment to the rest of the platter. The rice is perfectly cooked and also lends its own flavor. The platter comes with two pitas, and is a really great value for the money. Service is always super friendly! I highly recommend you try Haifa Carmel and get the falafel platter!!

I'm usually a fan of Carmel Haifa, but was really disappointed by my most recent order. I ordered a Tabbouleh salad and was given an actual bowl of parsley. There were a few really teeny cut up pieces of tomatoes, but otherwise it was a bowl of herbs. Definitely odd to receive when this salad should have grains, tomatoes and cukes. Herbs are for garnish, but not the basis of the salad. The salad that came with my platter was also soggy and the pita was hard. Maybe it was just a one time thing but I was bummed about this order and would be hesitant to order again.

This is a really small and cozy restaurant. There are 3 or 4 small tables. I would not go here with a big group. The food here is worth a try. It also has a small market with mostly desserts for sale. The counter service was friendly enough and we didn't have to wait too long to get our food even though there was a lot of take out going on throughout our meal. I ordered the veggie sampler plate. The hummus and the garlic sauce were phenomenal!!! The baby ganoush was flavorful and well seasoned. The pita was ok and so was the rice. I did not like that everything was served in styrofoam. I also wish they had a side of veggies to dip into the hummus as part of the veggie platter.

Great little family owned Mediterranean restaurant. There is both paid parking in the front and back of the restaurant. The day that we came there was a young kid taking our order and he was such so pleasant. I applaud him because my cousins who are around his age would not know to make small talk with customers like him. We came in right when they opened so when I ordered the mushroom Cream of Wild Mushroom soup, he had to go into the back to make sure they had it ready. He came back and said "it's your lucky day, we have it". We also ordered the Combination Platter With Rice (Shish Tawook, Shish Kebab & Kufta Kebab). Food was fresh and tasty.

Highly recommend the Chicken Shawerma - so delicious! We ordered the Veal & Lamb Shawerma Platter and the Mix Showerma Platter (chicken, veal, and lamb) and while all the meats were excellent, the chicken is definitely the best! You get a lot of food in each platter - rice or fries (we got the rice and it is plentiful), a (hearty) salad, marina bread (i think these are the mini pita sandwiches), and a massive pita. Everything was perfectly seasoned and very tasty. All this food can probably be at least 2 full meals. The food comes with three sauces - Tahini, Garlic, Hot. The garlic sauce is amazing - would recommend getting some extra (2 for $1) Located in the downtown of Morris Plains - there is street parking out front. The guys working were super friendly and the food is awesome! I'll definitely be back again and again - would give 10 stars if I could!

Still the best. Without a question this is gotta be the best. The baklava is made by the mother. It is beyond. There is no better baklava in my opinion. The hummus, the kebabs, all of it. My opinion over the years has not changed. It's still without an equal anywhere.

1st timer here. For awhile I had my eyes on this restaurant but I like 25iah minutes away so that was 1 of the main reasons why I hadn't tried it. But I decided to go for it after running an errand around the morris plains area. Plus I had been craving Mediterranean food for a while. I scoped out the menu online and then went in person to order. I ordered the Mix Shawerma sandwich. It's chicken, veal, lamb in a pita pocket like bread with lettuce , tomatoes, sauces. They have a variety of bottled drinks as well as variety of sweets and foods that are Mediterranean that you can buy. I picked out candy bars and I was so happy they had seltzer cans ! There was a sign that prices had gone up and to add $1 to menu items. Honestly for what I got and paid I was super satisfied. The sandwich was tasty not bland at all and it legit filled me up from 1230p till about 6pm not bad I wish they were closer to me but a definite must try recommendation for you my friends. Enjoy!

I was looking for something healthy yet tasty and satisfying, and after a quick Yelp search, I found myself at Carmel Haifa! Being Middle Eastern myself, I'm always excited to try a new spot! I ordered the Mix Shawarma Platter (~$14). This Platter comes with chicken, beef, rice, salad, Marina bread, and fresh pita bread. It also came with a tahini sauce, yogurt sauce, and hot sauce. It took about 10-15 minutes to get my order and I began to dig in. The chicken and beef shawarmas are both seasoned well and were deliciously tender! Typically, if cooked for too long, the beef shawarma can get chewy but that wasn't the case here. It was on the drier side, however. But the sauces did help with that! The rice was nice and light. The salad was not authentic at all. It gave the whole plate light component but if you're expecting legit Arab-style salad, definitely keep your expectations low. The Marina bread was a unique add to the plate. The Marina bread is stuffed pita bread with onions and a tomato spread. It actually complemented the chicken and beef very well. The pita bread was also super fresh which I loved! Overall, Carmel Haifa is affordable and the quantity of food is great. This one plate lasted me 2 meals! If you're in the area looking for a quick Middle Eastern bite, I definitely recommend Carmel Haifa!

The place is small, no real dining area (I think three or four cramped tables). It is a pick up and go place. But you love the authentic Middle Eastern food. This is one of those unique places that should be featured on a Food Network show. I always get the falafel sandwich. Your food is ready to pick up in about 10 minutes. The staff is very friendly. Make sure to try the homemade baklava. read more

Solid Mediterranean fare in a tiny storefront. Service is fast if a little impersonal. Falafel was solid and tabbouleh tasty. Better for take out than a sit down lunch as it is rather jammed with people ordering take out at lunchtime. read more

Huge bang for the buck. Two people can easily fill up on a kabob platter if they upgrade with three falafels for a dollar. The meats are roasted directly over charcoal for a delicious grilled taste. read more

Looking to cure my kebab craving, and new to the area, my wife and I bundled up our toddler and drove 20 minutes to check this place out. Maybe I missed something in the description, but it is not suitable for eating in at all. There are two tables of two, and that is about it. (We were offered a table with three duct taped office chairs that was partly on the cooking line) The place is a dive ok? I don't think there is anything wrong with that, or that they are purporting to not be a dive, but that is what Carmel Haifa is. Sometimes dives are awesome, sometime they are not. This place isn't. The food, although appearing to be freshly prepared before our eyes, tasted old and the kebabs were pretty rubbery. I am pretty well versed in cuisine of this type, and I kind of get the notes they were trying to hit. But the food just isn't great. 2 stars given, because the tahini based dressing and pickles in the salad were pretty cool. If you live locally, I can understand going here. But definitely not worth any kind of drive. read more

My family and I have been coming to Carmel Haifa for years, ever since it was first opened. Without a doubt it is one of our favorite restaurants! I'm in love with all their menu options, especially the combination platter-- never wanna share it with anybody! Can't get enough of their marina bread. Everything there is homemade, down to their delicious sauces, and you can taste the authenticity and care in every bite. The ladies there are so fantastic in everything they do. Such hard workers, always love chatting with them. A great local family spot in town that never disappoints! read more

Hands down, the absolute best middle eastern food I have ever had. The falafel are delicious, the shawarma platters are a meal large enough for two people and the side salad is delicious, fresh and crunchy! The only down side is that when you take it to go, you can't eat it fast enough!! read more

Small spot with delicious food. The hummus was fresh and has just right on the spice. Falafel sandwich had a lot of fill to it with some good sauces and heat. The baklava is also great and really flaky letting you know they used good filo dough to keep its texture amazing. All in all this spot is awesome. read more

Ordered as take out. The food was prepared on dirty stove not charcoal grill as advertised. Literally hole in wall kinda place with bad food. Ordered lamb kebab, baba and tabouleh salad. Everything was not fresh as it was made several days ago. Wouldn't order again. read more

So, I've lived in the area for about two years now... I drive by all the time and say, "I've got to stop there" I pick up bagels next door and say, "I've got to stop there" well, I finally stopped and now I'm mad I waited so long. Wow. Now this is the middle eastern food I've been looking for in Morris county! I got a shawarma Haifa sandwich which had lamb and falafel with their Middle East salad and tahini sauce and some hot sauce and it was on real Syrian bread. It's legit. When I'm on vacation, I crave food from here! I used to be a scwarma devotee but lately I have switched to the lamb kabob. The heart thing is, I can order it with it rice and they'll give me extra salad (which allows me to legitimize eating here once a week). Speaking of salad, I want to eat their katuf morning, noon and night. Different brothers wien different nights of the week and get to know the regulars orders and prederences. Carmel represents the best that small, family owned businesses have to offer. It's great to see them thriving in our community. read more

I have had a lot of Arabic food over the course of my life. Most of it in memorable and forgettable. I has a shawerma at Carmel Haifa a few months ago and thought it was phenomenal- but it's just a sandwich, right? Went back yesterday had a shawerma platter with delicious rice and grilled bread with some sauce on it.. Had some equally yummy lentil soup and falafel with it.. I am looking forward to going back.. It's pretty much a hole in the wall with few seats but worth a visit. read more

Hole in the wall with the best food and service you could imagine. Hate mushrooms love the mushroom soup, it's like soup crack!! Arabic salad is awesome and plenty for the price! Obsessed! I've been searching for a good Lebanese place for a while now. I found it in Carmel Haifa. It's a tiny hole in the wall take out place- super well-priced. I highly recommend the grape leaves and their hummus. My only complaint is that they are a little stingy with their pita (even when I ask for extra I am usually only given two pieces which is tough when a bunch of people are splitting things). read more

The guys here not only provide delicious authentic cuisine, but the service was beyond and overly immaculate. They were friendly and catering, making the hole in the wall feel like a grand place. The falafel was so moist (unlike other places being more on the dry side). The kebbah was incredibly enjoyable as well as the kebab combo platter! Everything was extra hot and fresh and couldnt ask for a better shwarma restaurant to try in the east coast (: Well worth the hour trek we made. read more

Schwarma heaven!!! Everything is good here that I've eaten. Falafel, hummus, baba ganoush, dolma and of course the schwarma (chic, mix or beef). The garlic tahini sauce is so good it won't disappoint. This is my 4th time here and it's a 30 min drive but worth it. read more

Unbelievably good food in a charming hole in the wall. Didn't expect to find meat this tender and juicy in the middle of Jersey, but this place is a true gem. Go and get the sampler platter so you can get a bit of everything. Super friendly staff is icing on the (meat) cake. read more
