    Steak Kabob Platter

I want to start by saying my server Chris is by far the kindest person I've ever met at a restaurant. He is one of the reasons we continue to go back to Thavma. His attitude, friendliness and overall demeanor is so refreshing, especially having worked in the service industry, I know how tough some days/customers can be!! We need more people like him in the world! With that being said, my family absolutely LOVES this restaurant. We come here often for lunch on the weekends and the food is cooked to perfection. So many notable items on the menu: WHY IS THEIR TZATZIKI SO FREAKING GOOD? ITS SO ADDICITING!! Shish-Kabobs: Authentic Greek skewers consisting of chicken, shrimp, steak or lamb. Or falafel or veggies if you prefer. These come with generous portions of pita, greek salad, fries and tzatziki. What's not to love? I like to do two skewers and switch roasted potatoes in place of fries Grilled Calamari: Always so fresh with squeezed lemon. The little rings are cooked perfectly, tender and soft. They have never been overcooked here. Oregano Wings: These are baked wings but you could have told me they are fried. They are sooooo crispy and juicy. The tzatziki pairs incredibly well on these. I saw someone get the Gyro/Flatbread Wrap and it looked huge and amazing. I will try that next time. While it may be considered a touch pricier for the area, its basically half the price of what you would pay in Manhattan fwiw The vibe is nice cand calm. Lots of windows and natural light with a somewhat open kitchen where they have a massive grill. Sat outside for the first time last week which was a great decision Absolute 10/10 - I LOVE this restaurant

Good service. Not too busy for a Dec 30th and Friday. -oregano chicken: labeled as jumbo wings but looked pretty normal size to me. good flavor but not so sure I really tasted the oregano. -seafood grill: good flavor but I was extremely disappointed and surprised at how little it was for the price($32)- even comparing to the many NYC restaurants I have gotten fresh grilled seafood -grilled salmon: nice grilled flavor but didn't seem seasoned otherwise. -ribeye steak: good size, the husband says it could have used a little salt.

This is my 3rd time coming here. There's nothing not to like about this restaurant. The decor is very thoughtful and you do feel like you are somewhere in the Mediterranean. The service is usually good. I would not say the food is cheap but you get quality food and a decent portion. Me and my wife went to Greece long time ago and we were in love with the Moussaka. This is not as good as Athens but must say it's pretty decent. The bread is very good as well. Would recommend sitting by the window or outside, the view is beautiful.

I visited Thavma during the week for an early dinner. With a modern, welcoming interior and delicious food, I can see why the place started filling up quickly! They start you with complimentary pita- soft, fresh and delicious. We ordered the Thavma chips which were crisp and tasty and served with fresh tzatziki, and I got the lamb burger as my entree (subbed Greek fries for sweet potato fries). Overall the food was enjoyable albeit a bit pricy- $12 for the zucchini chips and $20 for the burger. We finished our meal with the galaktoboureko (a custard style dessert with phyllo dough - yum!) for dessert. Worth a stop to get your Greek food fix!

Would not recommend their lamb, in any form. Ordered a lamb wrap medium rare to go and it was covered in tzatziki (with none at the end) and had a soggy pita as a result. After taking the majority of the tzatziki off so I could disperse it evenly, and biting into the lamb, the lamb itself was basically raw. It was impossible to bite and was incredibly chewy. Half of it was inedible and I left those chunks. I tried my dad's lamb chop and his was ordered medium but biting into it was like it was been smoked. Something was so off about the texture and I couldn't finish that either. I imagine if i had eaten there then the pita would have been in better shape and the rest of the flavor profiles were good so they got a star back for that but stay far far away from the lamb.

Great experience Meals were terrific. We started with sampler of tzatziki, dolmades and hummus. You see the entrees. And we finished with bread pudding. Great start to finish. Chris took care of us and did a fantastic job. As an Armenian who grew up in a traditional environment I have to say the food was excellent (not quite grandmas but pretty good. The only negative is it's BYOB. Plenty of parking. Put it on your to try list.

Great food, great service & the outdoor balcony setting for dinner was perfect. The complimentary warm pita bread was delicious but could have used something to dip it in...

Solid performer every time we order. We have dined in and ordered takeout. I prefer to dine in as atmosphere and service are good. The food is delicious. For our most recent order we all got Greek salads and an order of fries to share. The portion size of the salad is outstanding and my added protein Octopus was very yummy. The pita bread was also very tasty. If dining in the grilled octopus is outstanding. The dips and pita combo is a must get as well. BYOB which is always nice as well. Located in Livingston Towne Center upstairs and there's plenty of parking. In nicer weather they have outdoor seating. Give it a try you'll be glad you did.

    Thavma's special hummus!! So delicious!

My family has been going to Thavma for years. It is our go to place for excellent food and service. Thavma never disappoints! We love it!! Last night we sat outside on the breezy balcony. Beautiful spring night. Love the special hummus appetizer!!

I learned the owner actually is from Athens, and they use his family's recipes. We started with the spinach pie--perfectly flaky and so fresh. Then we got a bunch of spreads: spicy feta, tzatziki, Greek hummus, Greek caviar, and eggplant... honestly could've just eaten this with pita and been happy! The grilled halloumi was unreal. And if you like soup, get the avgolemono--it's so comforting and probably even better when you're under the weather. For mains, we did shrimp skewers with lemon potatoes (so good) and a beef and lamb gyro with fries--classic, dripping with flavor, and done right. The Mediterranean chicken burger was juicy and something new to try. And of course, dessert: ravani cake and walnut cake... both so good, moist, and not overly sweet. They even have a little market inside with imported Greek olive oils and snacks, which I loved. Definitely one of those places you go when you want something authentic and cozy!

Despite the moderately upscale ambiance and clean, contemporary aesthetic, the emptiness made us wonder: did we miss a memo? Was there a sudden local embargo on Mediterranean food? Luckily, the dining room eventually filled up, saving us from eating our dinner in a complete echo chamber. My dining companion and I started off with the Hummus appetizer ($11) served with a modest side of toasted pita. It was tasty and definitely hit the spot. We both decided to keep things light and ordered salads with a side of grilled salmon. I went with the Marouli salad ($16) -- crisp romaine lettuce, dill, and scallions with a lemon-olive oil dressing -- and my companion chose the Greek Village salad ($19), a shepherd-style salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, Holland peppers, feta cheese, olives, and Greek dressing. Both were fresh, well-prepared, and hit the mark. The salmon was also delicious, which is a good thing, because it came with an $18 upcharge that was not listed on the printed menu. For dessert, we ordered the baklava ($13), three pieces of an already intensely sweet treat that had apparently been subjected to an excessive dusting of powdered sugar. As for the service, our server and the food runners were competent but not overly friendly towards us or other diners. I also noticed that the staff tended to take care of tables out of order in which they were seated.. resulting in diners who arrived after us being served before us. Overall, it's a perfectly fine 3-star experience. I'd gladly go back if someone else was picking the spot, but if I'm the one in charge of dinner plans, I'll probably cast my net elsewhere in the area. PRO TIP #1: Bring a bottle of wine or beer from home or stop at the Wine Shop liquor store located on the opposite corner of the intersection of Main Street and Millburn Avenue for some adult beverages to enjoy with your meal. EVOO & Lemon is a BYOB establishment and does not serve alcohol. PRO TIP #2: EVOO & Lemon does not have a private parking lot, but there is plenty of on-street parking and municipal lots nearby. Use the mPay2Park app for the pay-by-plate meters ($0.50 per hour). Meters operate Monday through Saturday from 8am to 7pm; all street meters are free after 7 pm and all day Sunday. If the street is full, the Essex Street parking deck (24 Lackawanna Place) is a reliable backup.

The ambiance fit the name perfectly -- subtle hints of blue throughout that tied right back to "d'Azur." We started with a glass of bubbly and focaccia served with three spreads -- the olive tapenade stood out over the butter. For the first course, I had the duck confit salad -- the duck portion itself ran a little light, but the flavor balance was excellent: sweetness from the strawberries, bitterness from the arugula, saltiness from the goat cheese, and umami depth from the duck confit. It's BYOB, we brought both red and white wine to pair across the meal. The table shared the Branzino with French chard, which was outstanding, and the steak frites, which was exceptional and perfect medium rare. I had the duck breast with mushroom, paired with a Pinot Noir -- a great match, and that same Pinot Noir worked beautifully with the steak too. To finish, we shared three desserts: crème brûlée, chocolate truffles with strawberry and pistachio, and a cognac cake topped with a chocolate whipped mousse, walnuts, and strawberry. Tough call on a favorite, but the cognac cake stole the show. Throughout dessert, the staff kept checking in without ever feeling intrusive -- a small thing, but it stood out. A great night out with drink, food, and cousins from start to finish. The service alone is worth going back for. Highly recommend.
