This is a family run business so they kinda march to their own drummer. Don't plan your errands or day around the leisure of picking your doggie up at the end of their business hours as they may close early. Sheesh... I still like Carmelita's but, several times when I've gone there, they end up closing early and are waiting for me to come and pick-up my pooch. Last time, I didn't even feel I had time to stop and get extra cash for their tip. That made me feel bad but I guess it's their schedule I'm trying to accommodate for. Something's off about that... That was more ok when I lived really close and their prices were much lower than the average groomer but, now that they've gone up... I might not be making the drive over or planning my day to be empty for their schedule. Might not see ya there. read more

I would give no stars if I could. This is my second time coming here and I have a lot to be unhappy about. I was told that I could pick her up at 7:30PM after dropping my yorkie off at 11:30AM. That's already a long time but when I called to pick her up it was extended to 8PM so I had to send my friend to pick her up. My friend arrived at 8:05 and she was still not ready and she sent me a very alarming text about the treatment of my dog that I will insert. Will never use this place ever again. Id rather spend more than have my dog treated badly. Also, the price was said to be $35 on the phone and later was bumped to $45. No idea what happened there. The haircut itself was horrible. Very uneven and made my yorkie look very ugly. Could not be any more unhappy. read more

The staff is very personable and they do a great job bathing and clipping my dogs. The price is in the average range for the service provided. Depending on the type of dog you have and the amount of clipping that they need I feel this is a good place to go to get your dogs all fresh, clean, and beautiful. Try it out. Good place. With the warm weather, I needed BEAR, my Aussy-Retriever an immediate haircut and bath! My normal, preferred groomer were already booked for two weeks. Sandy, returned to me, a happy dog. He had been given the full treatment: haircut, bath, nails, ears & glands. It's a family run business with cheerful personalities at the front desk area. The pricing was a little higher than expected, but I will go back. It's nice to be around nice people who do the extra for a 'family member'.. read more

I've been coming to Carmelita's Dog Laundry for a while now, but after my last visit I don't believe I will be coming back. My last visit two weeks ago, and in the time my dog developed a really bad sounding gruff cough, the kind that humans make when they have a throat infection. I took my dog to the Vet, and turns out it's kennel cough. So that speaks to the sanitary level of this establishment. I also remember how visibly upset my dog after staying here all day since the hair cut took from 11 a.m.- 6 p.m, for a truly mediocre cut. My dog was crying the whole way home and I wasn't sure why. He was so disturbed. I really don't know if he had water or not. For context, I choose this spot because it was cheap. Personally, I don't need the bells and whistles when I am getting my dog groomed, just make it short and call it a day and that is what this business provides. But it's too expensive. For $50 I can cut my own dogs hair. Also, when I walked in I accidentally forgot to wear my mask. The owner walks out, and as I apologize and start to walk out, until he stopped me and said "we don't need those here". I look over to the right there is a bible, a trump book and book by that godawful Candace Owens. I am all for people having their own values, but that also lets me know that I don't have to spend my money at your business. read more

I took my two maltipoo puppies on a morning walk and they both got very dirty. So I yelped and found this groomer, the only one among the many I called who was available to groom my puppies on the same day. I was quite concerned with the other reviews, but as they were so messy I decided to give it a try. I brought them in around noon and called at 3:30pm to check their status, and was told I needed to wait for additional 30min, which was fine with me as I live close by. So when I called at 4:00pm, my puppies were ready for pick-up. I was quite nervous how they would look. But they look refreshed! Smelled good. And on our way home, they were fighting as usual, no signs of being mistreated as some other reviewers had mentioned. The groomer also give me a new year calendar as a gift and walked me to my car. I am happy with the service, and will come back again, considering it's only two miles drive away. read more

We took our golden retriever in to get a trim and remove some matted fur and had an awesome experience! We didn't realize how much nicer his coat would look when properly trimmed! The employees and owner were very helpful and informative. They even took time to call us up and let us know our dog might have an ear infection which we took care of right away! I will NEVER have my dog groomed here again. Not sure what they did to my dog but he came home crying, shaking his ears, private area was so red and raw my dog cried the whole night! I paid these people $95.00 to practically torchure my dog! I am soo pissed off! I will be reporting them to the better business bureau asap! These people are cruel and do not care about your pets! I've been here twice. The first time, everything was great for my shih tzu. The second time was horrible! When I arrived to pick him up, I looked in the back to see the groomer working on a dog... with an opened beer next to him. When I saw my dog, I noticed a patch on his face that was red. They told me he was struggling and they couldnt hold him down. My dog is the sweetest and has always been very obedient at the vet. I left thinking it was just a shorter patch. As the day passed, I noticed his patch getting more and more red. I took him to the vet the next day and they had to put a cone on him! He was on meds for about a week and needed the cone on him until he was completely healed. They said the patch was infected, therefore he needed antibiotics. I'll never come back here. I don't need a drunk to take care of my dog and cause him pain and suffering for weeks after. read more

I came here because "Doggie Stylezz" on Blossom Hill were completely booked on a Saturday. This place had so many red flags and I should have trust my instincts. Let me name a few bad signs: 1) Unfriendly customer service. 2) No appointments needed. They gave me estimate of early evening when I arrived at 9:4am. I asked if he was done earlier, can I get a call. Again the same time was repeated and I was told to call only after estimated time. I called 30 minutes before estimated time and it turned out he was done an hour before or even earlier!!! 3) Front waiting area is dirty and full of pet hair on furniture 4) Grooming station was hidden from view so you don't know what they are doing. Now, onto my review. I asked the front girl NOT to give my Maltese Poo a "poodle cut". I love his teddy bear look... I just need a small cut around the face so I can see his eyes. I don't want short shaves just enough so his knots are gone. To my horror, when she bought him out, I thought she got the wrong dog! He was running out scared and with a poodle cut and a cheap pink bow on his head! He was dying of thirst and was gasping for water from a bottle water I had in my car. This place is the worst place ever. On top of that you cannot find any parking! You can see for yourself what they did to my dog in the before and after photo! I will go back to Doggie Stylezz. They always did a great job whatever I asked, I will get. On top of that, their grooming station is out in the open and they will call you when they are done. This place does not style..they will shave everything! I don't think these people even own scissors.. Shaving is faster so they can make more money. After we got home, my dog kept bitting his leg and tail right as though he got some kind of scrapes. They charge me $65 dollars for a lousy job. I will never come back here. These groomers messed up my cat's leg! I called for my cat, and they told me one of them knows how to groom cats. So I went over and left my fur baby for 3 hours. Then I came back to pick him up, got home and right after I let my cat out he started crying so loud. He was limping and was obviously hurting when he tried to walk or even stand. I'm taking my cat to his Vet this Saturday, and I'll make sure this place pays his hospital bills or I'll sue this shit hole! VERY POOR AND RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE TOO!!! read more

My miniature poodle has been here twice. They do an ok job, but this last time I brought my dog got in he got an ear infection a day or so later. He has never had an ear infection before and the vet said this was most likely caused by hair being pulled out from his ear. We are going back to Carolyn's Pet Grooming in Milpitas- we wanted to give Carmelita's a shot because it is close to us. *Yelp is a community to post perspectives on businesses/services. We brought our yorkie of 6 months to this place and never again will I do so. We were told she would be ready by 3pm and then 4pm. When we picked her up, her fur was choppy! My mother has brought my dog here about 3-4 times, mostly due to location as it is close to my house, and because they've done a decent job for the most part. Mind you, my dog is aggressive in nature and I commend them for past occasions for being able to groom her properly. Whenever my mother brought her home, she was energetic as she usually is and ran amuck within our home as if nothing happened. This past weekend, I personally brought my dog there because my mother is out of town and my dog desperately needed a haircut. This was my first time at the location; the area is fine, the store front is clean, and the 2 staff members I've encountered are friendly people. They will make you feel welcome and the prices are reasonable. However, I did feel uncomfortable as I was dropping my dog off, as I saw the factory assembly line-esque room with numerous dogs that lay behind the cash register. It's rather dark, with a few dim lights. There was also a large flat screen and a bunch of drinks. I'm definitely not expecting a 5 star environment or anything, but it's a little alarming knowing that you're giving your dog up for quite a number of hours in that setting. I know, I know, I should've just gone with my gut feeling. And I also know that they are entitled to do as they please, as it is their business. Subconsciously, I knew the idea of first come first serve, was actually a pretty bad one, since they are forced to keep your dog for hours on end in order to accomodate the needs of the ones that came before you. I felt incredibly guilty leaving my dog there for so long that I couldn't wait to pick her up. The moment I got there, she pounced in to my arms and wanted to leave immediately. I didn't want to start any sort of commotion because she tends to whine in these sort of situations, so I left right away, thinking that on previous experiences, her haircuts turned out fine, so this would be no different. As we entered our home, the first thing I noticed was that her ears weren't cut evenly. Phooey! And then I started to notice that she seemed different. She cowered around the sofas and refused to let anyone touch her. Her tail wasn't perky, she didn't bark at the sight of a squirrel, and slowly walked around the house with little enthusiasm. After a couple of hours, I got a closer look at her, and the whites of her left eye was complete, solid red, as if someone hit her. She refused to let me touch her anywhere on her head, and particularly around that eye... and she has never had an eye problem before. My dog also has been wheezing terribly since her visit. Before this visit, I'd give this place 4 stars, but after this incident, a definite 1 star (if not 0) for me. And after reading many negative reviews, it's sad to say I'm not the only one that has had a bad experience here. I certainly will not be returning. read more

we've taken our GSD here a couple of times when we've not been able to get her in elsewhere or not able to bathe her ourselves. Their pricing is great but unfortunately after just a couple of days, our girl doesnt smell clean anymore and shes an indoor pet. When we bath her at home, she smells cleans for at least a couple of weeks with her normal activity. I don't know what they're doing different. Maybe not scrubbing her as thoroughly as I do. Nonetheless, they are really nice in here and as mentioned, their pricing is great. read more

If there was an option of giving zero stars I would give it a zero.I took my dogs to Carmelita's Dog Laundry February of 20016. It was the first time taking my dogs there. I decided to take my dogs there because it was closer to where I live and I do not have time to take them to Petco or Doggy Styles, where I usually take them due to that I have a busy schedule. First of all, when I went in to leave my dogs for their hair cut, the person who was at front, did not even ask for proof of vaccinations, which for me seemed weird because other places will ask for proof of vaccination, especially rabies certificate. When I took them, it was around noon. I was told that i was going to receive a phone call by 5:30. As the day went by, it was already 5:30 and I did not receive any phone call whatsoever. So, my sister decided to call to check if they were ready. When the person on the other line answered the phone, he said that they were still not ready, to wait another half an hour and that they will be ready around six. By the time it was already six, my sister decided to call again and she was told to wait another twenty minutes and that they will call back to let us know that they are ready. I did not want to wait any longer and decided to go and see if they were ready. When I arrived, they were just finishing up with one of my dogs. (I forgot to mention that one dog had long hair and the other dog already had short hair but just needed to get it evened out). The price was ridiculously high compared to what I have paid for three dogs together. I was charged $135 for two dogs, whereas when I take my three dogs somewhere else, with the the same hair length, I get charged around $160. Which means that when I take them somewhere else, I get charged $53 to $54 each dog. Taking them to Carmelita's Dog Laundry I got charged almost $70 for each dog. To me it seemed like if my dogs did not drink any water or ate food at all throughout the entire time that they were there. As soon as i arrived home, both of my dogs immediately ran to their bowl to drink water, and they spent a few minutes just drinking water non-stop. After one of my dogs stopped drinking water, I noticed that she began to shake her head like if there was something on her ear. I decided to check her ears, and they looked very irritated and with blood. The next day, my sister decided to bathe her. When she poured water over her head, all of a sudden my dog started to bleed from the top of her head, so she decided to stop bathing her. As the days passed by, I kept checking her ears daily and noticed that she had blood on the ends of her ears through the inside and also had something yellow inside as well. I bathed her a second time and noticed that as soon as I poured water on her head she started to bleed again. I checked her ears and she had a lot of blood on her ears and I also noticed something yellow on the inside of her ears, almost like the color of mustard. That's when I decided to call the vet to schedule an appointment because her constant bleeding in her ears and bleeding when being poured water on her head was not normal. When I took her to the vet, I was told that it was an ear infection and that she also had fungus inside her ear caused by the grooming that she had received. I had to pay $181 for my dog to be treated for her ear infection. (Note: she has never in her life gotten an ear infection, and she is 6 years old) From all the times that I have taken her to other groomers, she has never gotten an ear infection until I took her to Carmelita's Dog Laundry. read more

We have been taking our dogs here for a while, but lately they cannot seem to cut the dogs the way we ask. They don't seem to pay attention or even communicate their issues and do what they want. The woman that's worked the register for us was pretty unfriendly which, if you're in the customer service business, you should be professional and at least polite. For the most part this place is win. This is my dog's usual place. Sometimes it's $30, sometimes $35, sometimes $38. Even though every time my dog is in pretty much the same condition. I get around this by getting a price and paying for it before I hand the dog over. They do a pretty good job and follow all of my requests as to how I want the hair cut. Usually I have to wash my dog again after I take him home though because he always ends up with fleas after I bring him there. I keep coming back though because they're cheaper than most other places and they know my dog. read more

HELL YEAH, ME thinks NEVER!!!!!!!!! Don't EVER, EVER, NEVER take your pet to this place!!! First off, the customer service is FREAKING HORRIBLE! No customer service WHAT so EVER. The employees/owners are SO rude right off the bat. Second, they take FOREVER just to have your pet done and when it's done, they don't even have or think they have the responsibility to call you to let you know. You have to call yourselfto see if your pet is ready. Thrid, you would think they would give your pet food or atleast water since they have them there practically the whole day! Well forget it, all they say is "we don't do that". The whole time your pet is there, it's in a VERY small cage. I've taken my dogs there and I was SO DISSATISFIED! My dog was there for 8 hours until I picked her up. When I called, they told me that I had to pick her up a half hour later then the time they had originally given me. So I told the guy on the phone that my dog hadn't eaten all day. Guess what he told me?? "Oh it's ok, dogs can go for days w/out eating" WTF???? So I asked them if they could atleast give her water and the guy even hesitated for that. Did they really give her water, I will never know. When I took her home that same day, she was SO FREAKIN thirsty & SO HUNGRY. Then I noticed she had a cut on one of her hind legs. I have no idea how this place has been in business for so long but I'll tell you one thing, I will NEVER take my dogs there again. read more

My poor pup, Bella was a dirty matted mess Saturday morning. She is a Maltese mix, so anyone who knows that breed can appreciate the struggle of keeping her long white hair free of burs and nasty weed things. Brushing and spending 15 minutes at a time pulling the thorns and what not out of the hair still only gets most of the crap out of there. Enter Carmelita's Dog Laundry! It's an old laundry mat that's been converted to a grooming salon, and it's sort of like a dog assembly line, very busy, but the dogs seem to be happy. I know when Bella was picked up she was very chipper and bouncy (and she is the worlds most shy dog, so when she is happy around new people, it really says something!) Her coat was incredibly soft, an amazing white white, she almost glowed hehe, her nails were trimmed sufficiently which you don't always get at places, a lot of times they just barely take of the tip of the nail and try to charge you for it, and they had trimmed up her entire coat. All for $40 dollars, and no appointments needed. You can't beat that! Bella will definitely be back here soon. ** One thing that I really appreciated is that they have dog perfume, but they asked before they put it on her. Due to my allergies to that kind of thing I declined, but I love that they ask! Terrific service!!! read more

This place is hilarious! I found out about "Dog Laundry" thru Yelp. I needed to fix up my dog for the "Fur Ball" I like the idea of not having to make an appointment, but when I showed up, the power was out in the area (darn!) I went back home. I thought one of the workers wearing a Raiders jersey and eating a cupcake was different. lol I just HAD to go back after seeing that, I didn't want to wait another day so I called again later to see if the power was working and if they could possible take my dog. The guy said if I brought him in within 15 mins he would (yesssss) I really tried to make the simplest request as possible, I do have a definite 'look' I like to give Leche, but I decided to pass this time. I just asked for a even short shave and thats exactly what I got. $35 for the cut, pretty happy about that. 2 things I was kinda sort of didn't like, was the amount of hair they took out of his ear, the took all of it out. I don't know if thats a good thing or bad, but I feel some hair should have been left to protect his inner ear. His nails were left a little long. But overall Leche looks great and like a different dog. read more

I guess the name says it all, they treat the dogs there like a bag of dirty laundry. Then, come to find out, that this place was once investigated for animal abuse. However, they were given warning about the investigation...Hmmm. I knew the owner and recall going with her to the shop a long time ago and she was very aggressive with the dog she was grooming. I didn't know any better back then...I was very young and didn't know much about the value of our furry babes, but now, I know and love enough to say that this shythole should be shut down.
