I recently moved to San Jose and this was my first time trying Olly's Dog Grooming since it's close to my work. I wanted to check out the environment, how they handled my dog, and the overall customer service. It was my pug's 6th birthday, so I decided to treat him with a grooming session to pamper him a little on his special day. The grooming itself was good, he came out clean and well-trimmed. The same person who groomed my pug was the one who charged me. When I paid in cash and she did not return any change. I normally set aside the tip separately to give it directly to the person who attended my dog, but since I didn't receive my change back, I wasn't able to leave a tip. It felt like she had given herself the tip, which made me uncomfortable and left a bad impression. I hope it was just an honest oversight. Took my Sheepadoodle, Rollie, to Olly's Dog Grooming. His fur was very matted, so we decided to have him shaved down. They did a great job. His "fur"looks much better now and smells amazing. The overall experience was positive, and the staff handled him well despite the condition of his coat. One small thing I wish they had done was pluck the hair in his ears. Total cost was $180. First and foremost, we have been a regular customer to Olly's Grooming the past 3 years and have always worked with Victor. Our dog's name is Mikasa, we started bringing her since she was 1 years old and now she's 4. She's a medium mix breed, with so much fluff. Mikasa always gets picked up with a huge smile on her face, and a wagging tail. Prior to being regular customers, I was extremely anxious bringing Mimi into any groomers because she too has separation anxiety. After our first visit, I asked them "was mikasa okay? Did be behave? Scared?". Of course, her first time she was scared and even made an accident, however we still received great service despite of them needing to clean mikasa after a full groom. They were still very accommodating and understanding of the situation. Mikasa receives her usual grooming service --Full Grooming: Bath, nail trimming, de-shedding, teeth brushing, and gland expression. I was looking for a new groomer for my dog and was contacting many businesses for quotes since her previous groomer decided to move onto a new adventure. I stumbled across Olly's Dog Grooming and decided to request for an appointment. Victor responded quickly and patiently with any questions I had. Best grooming place in the Bay Area! We go to Victor for all our grooming needs, and he always does an excellent job with our senior pug Butters. We moved to San Leandro last year from San Jose, but we were not happy with all the groomers in the East Bay. So we drove down to Olly's monthly, and well worth it. I am super disappointed with the service I received for my golden retriever mix. I asked for an OUTLINE trim, sanitary cut, and his tail to be short, and they did perfect with everything but his outline trim. They CHOPPED the top of his coat and his back side is completely uneven! I am highly dismayed. I've been taking Cody since he was 6 months old along with our 15 yr old senior collie corgi mix who's been getting cut her for the last 3 years. They've never messed up either dog's trim until today. I'm highly disappointed and do not think I will be returning. I have went to Victor's shop for 4 years now , he always did a great job on my dog Tasha, but this time when I picked her up, she kept shaking her head. I looked and all her hair was plucked from her ears. They were very red and inflamed, and you could see a little blood in them I took her to the vet. They gave her medicine to help heal her ears! I was disappointed that he didn't share with me that he plucked the hair out of her ears! Especially when I've never had him, pluck her hair out of the ears before! Well, I will no longer be going to Victor! Would have been nice if he would have offered to pay for the ear medicine! Since he is the one that caused the problem! Me and my little pup Touille (10lb Yorkie) are very pleased with our visits so far! Just a reminder, there are many factors that will contribute to how your time will be at any establishment. Depending on the day, time, staff (employees, management, etc.) Regardless of my experience, your experience may differ. Which is why I encourage everyone to try any place you're interested in to see for yourself (: This was Touille's 2nd visit, and he was in desperate need of a haircut and bath after my 1 month vacation in the Philippines :} My sleeping schedule was not back to Cali time, so messaging Olly's through Yelp was such a big help! They responded quickly, called me the next business day to schedule an appointment and worked with my schedule. Elaina was amazing! She took time to understand what I wanted for Touille and oh man, did she deliver! I LOVE his haircut. Bath and haircut took about 2.5 hours, which was around $75. I got my dog groomed here recently. I asked them to also trim his nails. Well they did, but, they went too close, and he started bleeding! He has been bleeding all over the floors and carpets in my home. Dog owners worry about cutting their dog's nails too short at home. This is precisely why people take their dogs to groomers because the groomers are supposed to be "professionals" at doing this. Dogs should not be bleeding. Use a little common sense. read more

WARNING!!!! DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU WANT CUTENESS OVERLOAD! I only went off the reviews of Yelp and I was wanting to give Olly's a try and I am glad I did. I brought my little fur-babies babies here and they are 5 & 6 months old. I felt like I wanted to be a helicopter mom but I held back. I called the day before to confirm their appointment. They had been booked for a while, so I was anxious, luckily the nice girl on the phone confirmed my appointment for the next day and I was getting closer. I arrived there early and called from my car to let them know per the instructions on the door. I know I would have to wait a little bit and I was good with that. I did want to go inside and look around because I was leaving my kiddos somewhere new, but I know they had protocol. When it was time The young lady came to the door and had me fill out the paperwork for the kids. She also showed me a cut board on how to pick their length. This was all new to me so it was very helpful. I let her know what I kind of wanted and she took notes. I was feeling better and it was now time to leave them. I asked how long and she said about 3 hours. I dropped them off at 10:30 and I had not heard anything by 1pm so I was again feeling anxious, we're they behaving, we're they okay? I left a little early to go over there and then I called, She let me know about 20 minutes more and then they will be done. I waited and it was worth it. She called me and let me know they were done and I went in to pay. They place was nice, clean, and adorable. I was at peace... I then paid and she brought out my kids. They were adorable. They did such a wonderful job on them and they were both sooo cute. I asked if either of them had given them a hard time and she said no. I brought my two medium sized short haired boys here for grooming around 2-3 weeks ago. They are Pocket American Bullies, so basically bulldog mixes in energy and physically and I give them baths every month myself and they stand nicely for groomer nail trims regularly, no fuss. Olly's finished their bath and brush extremely quickly and called us in about an hour that they were ready, which was nice because I was prepared for a couple hours waiting. The boys were happy and kissing their groomer when I arrived and were clean and soft, even with sensitive skin which I warned them about when my husband dropped them off in the AM. I had quite a bit of sticker shock when I picked them up and paid though! $120 for baths!! They charge you extra for the nail trim, and another charge for anal glands. I wanted teeth brushing which I know is always an extra charge so I'm fine with that fee, but I was expecting 1 additional fee each, not 3 fees x2! What does a 'full service bath and brush' combo include then?? They don't have enough hair to brush so that definitely didn't need done and they dry fast even air drying, but she said they didn't like the dryer and worked with them. I've never heard of +$20-30 being added to a bath and brush combo just for basics that are included free at every other groomer. The nails weren't even filed, just trimmed so sharp edges :(. I wish they had told me so they weren't scratching my floor and I could have paid fee #4 x2 for filing. Seriously. It's a good deal for the bath and brush if you I guess do your own second bath later to include anal gland expression and nail trim and file yourself so these guys can just do the basics for their own bathing day. We use groomers on occasion to do the things they are specially trained to do, but this place sneaking fees for every itemized task has made it so I'll just have the vet do it cheaply and have bath and teeth brushing time at home. I'm glad I know grooming enough to specifically ask for those services or my dogs which already struggle with nail and gland issues would have suffered. Nice enough people in person, mostly rude and impatient on the phone, and prepare to pay +30% more here. They don't tell you about the cost estimate or extra fees either until they want your credit card and by then, services were rendered and you're stuck. Never coming back or recommending read more

Took my dog to get groomed here for the first time. I have a ~6 lb Maltese. Booked my appointment through Yelp with the owner. The next available appointment was a little over a week out. A groomer was waiting outside but she told me that my groomer was just arriving. The appointment was at 8am (opening time) so I didn't mind her being a minute late. I signed a waiver and she asked what I wanted done. I said as much that could be done. I wasn't familiar with what's included in their services. She said she'd just do an outline with scissor cutting, because I wanted his hair to stay long. I asked for nail trimming and teeth cleaning as well. My dog was ready for pickup 1.5 hours later. There was a $50 charge for him being a small dog and $20 charge for the additional services. I inspected their work and liked how they trimmed his nails. I normally do it but I don't go close to the quick. It didn't seem like the nails were filed/buffed though. Maybe they were, but I'll probably round out the edges myself. His ears were cleaned really well and I liked the sanitary trim that was done, except for the hair on his ears. I think that could've been cleaned up better. His facial trim was good though, which was one of the main reason I wanted him to be groomed by a professional. His coat was nice and soft, so they did a good job brushing him out. I brush him often so he doesn't really have mats. Would I come back? Yeah, but maybe I'll just do the walk-in services. I think I bathe/brush him just as well. read more

Call to make an appointment & they are always available the same day, even if it's later on, your lucky enough to get your fur baby in for a nice boody wash. Depending on how Chewy (my dog) feels, that's how his bath goes, meaning this foo has bit his groomer a few times because he's in his feelings & doesn't want his ears, teeth or being dramatic when he needs to be dried. She's nice enough to say, he bit her a few times but, it's all good ‍ You call or knock upon arrival, they come out for u to fill out the form (quickly) it takes about an hr, you return & same process minus the form, now it's payment time.
