I ordered two plates here. The chicken tacos plate came with two tacos, rice, and beans on the side, and honestly it was pretty good. The chicken had good flavor and the sides paired well with it. The asada burrito bowl, though, wasn't my favorite. The asada seemed fried with breadcrumbs and the coating was separating from the meat, which made the texture a bit off. Also, everything in the bowl felt piled on top of each other, and the beans were mashed instead of whole, so the whole dish ended up feeling kind of mushy. The place itself is pretty small with only a few tables for dining in. The location also wasn't my favorite personally, especially for families with kids, since there were quite a few people experiencing homelessness around the nearby corner area. Overall, mixed experience. I'd probably come back for the tacos but would skip the burrito bowl next time. read more

Been here twice now, and this place will definitely be on my "frequent" list. The tacos taste very authentic, you wouldn't think twice about them being vegan. The quesadilla was fulfilling, and one to recommend. The rice and beans that came with the tacos were perfect, as well. Visited with a friend yesterday had been wanting to try this place for awhile. Just tacos were available the when we attended at noonish. since it was my first time I decided to try the three tacos with rice and beans of the three proteins that were available so it was the chicken, al Pastor and carnitas. Wonderful vegan food now I know why everyone enjoys this place so much. Each protein has their own distinct flavor. Service was friendly and quick. Mexican food is awesome so making it plant based and while maintaining that awesomeness is a feat. The actual restaurant isn't anything fancy, some tables and light decor. Walk straight up to the counter and order. I've made a few visits here now and each time the staff are really nice and happy to answer questions about the menu which is small and focused on top staples like tacos and burritos. My favorite is the taco plate, specifically with the Asada. It is really good, and this is obvious because in my last visit they were actually sold out of it. This 'chick'n' and Al Pastor are also great as I tried them following the sellout. Comes with rice and beans so it really hits the spot. Their guac and salsa are good as are the chips. I recommend just getting the large bag if you get these. They also have a hibiscus iced tea which is worth trying too. If you want some Vegan Mexi food, definitely try here. read more

Obsessed with Rojo's! I've been getting their food since they were a pop up and am beyond excited they have a permanent home and are having success and growing. I know we were all sad to lose Il Corvo in this space, but Rojo's is worth a visit. Everything is vegan! But even my non-vegan friends like it! They have four different vegan protein options, and you can put them in tacos, torta, burrito, quesadillas, chimichangas, etc. They also have serve your own toppings like salsa and radishes. And delicious agua frescas! One of my favorite things to do is grab a burrito to go and take it into a mariners game! It's cheaper and more delicious than most of what you'll find at the ballpark, and WAY better than the limited vegan options they have. I love the horchata too! One time they had a special strawberry horchata and it was The people who work there are so sweet, I'm pretty sure the same guy has taken my order multiple times there and he's the nicest. I ordered for pick up on my lunch break without doing much research. The first time I went, I got an Al pastor burrito. The put so many good things in the burrito: meat, guacamole, rice, onions, etc. As I started to eat it, I kept wondering, "why does this taste like shawarma?" I chalked it up to the fact that Lebanese Mexicans invented Al pastor, so maybe this was just a way of seasoning it that I had never tasted before. After some time, I checked their website and realized that they are entirely plant-based. I'm guessing that the base for the protein is chickpea or some kind of legume, which was reminding me of hummus or falafel. It did take me a long time to figure out, which tells me it was very good. My experience at Rojos was okay. It was not my best restaurant experience, but not my worst either. Overall, it is a decent plant based restaurant, but the service could use improving. The food was great. I had the carne asada quesadilla with a Mexican Coke. The quesadilla was really good and had incredible taste! It was cooked fresh and was nice and hot when I received it. The Mexican Coke was also good. The restaurant is very small and definitely busy during lunch time. The reason I could not give five stars is because of the wait time for food. The wait time was absolutely ridiculous. I waited probably close to 30 minutes to receive my food to go. With a busy downtown food scene during the week, you would think they would be a little faster. Many individuals waited just as long as I did. The restaurant could definitely improve in this area. We stopped in last night before a Mariner's game. I was excited to try this all vegan restaurant. Sadly, they do close pretty early, but they let us order at 6:40, 20 minutes before closing. You never know what you are going to get from a vegan taco place. Thankfully, Rojo's Mexican Food was great. We were doing touristy stuff in Pioneer Square and needed some food. We wound up at Rojo's because their entire menu is vegan. That means when you read things like chicken, carne asada, beef or sour cream, you aren't getting the traditional version of these. You are getting a dairy free, meat free experience. I ordered a burrito with chicken in it. I compare most burritos to the gigantic vegetarian ones I could get on the streets of Chicago. Rojo's version held its own. The chicken, salsa, guac, sour cream combo was just spicy enough, just bitey enough and just sloppy enough. It was big. The ingredients fit together well. My wife got a collection of tacos. They were a bit salty to her but tasted fine to me. My wife was blown away by the Hibiscus Tea. It tasted just like the tea she drank during her time in Mexico. She was so impressed she went and talked to the lady who made it about the recipe. She left with some tips that she can use to make it at home. Rojo's is a meal that will stick with me for a while. Good Mexican food is hard to find in Seattle. I say that as someone who spent two decades in Texas -- the one thing I'm really picky about is Mexican food. I had the chick'n quesadillas and the chimichanga al pastor and both were good. I ordered shortly after they opened and they were able to complete my meal in less than 20 minutes, which was great. The place itself has a hole-in-the-wall kind of vibe, kinda nondescript but perfectly fine. Parking is a nightmare, but that's typical for downtown/Pioneer Square anyway. Service was also friendly. As far as the mock meats go, I enjoyed the al pastor better than the chick'n, which had sort of a faint aftertaste (soy?) but not too noticeable. Portion sizes were generous and filling. I once went to their popup on Pike Place's roof but my experience in the restaurant today was unmatched. Their 2 day special of birria tacos are the BEST vegan tacos I've ever had. This spot is super interesting to me. Over 3-4 years ago, this location was a super popular pasta spot (Il Corvo) for the downtown worker lunch bee crew for many years. Shortly after that, it - plus many other popular lunch worker spots - just didn't survive "that geopolitical tsunami wave" soon after that. This summer, fortune hath turned and blessed us with this awesome lil cafe! You can't miss its simple teal exterior with huge windows. Inside it is quite minimalist but still captures some small details of subtle homey vibes. Over time, it'd be sweet for maybe some paint accents along the walls and/or a few artwork to offset the white canvas. On the extreme end, some may call the interior pretty lifeless... either way, you'll be pleased to hear delightful Mexican/Latin(?) music blasting on just the right volume. The food is just damn good. Most everything is made from scratch and I think you can taste it. You can also go any variety of hunger: a big loaded burrito, a taco, sides or any combination thereof. But also contrary to regular Mexican joints, you don't feel 'heavy' from anything heavy in dairy, meat, etc. If you order to go, ask if you/they can add radishes and lime from the salsa condiment bar... totally chef's kiss. The staff is wonderful, friendly and welcoming. Wholesome, low-key, chill, homey. If you're even just a fan of good food, go here and get your grub on. A vegan mexican place in downtown? You better believe I'm coming here. With El Borracho closing their frellard location it's good to have another dog in the game, and Rojo's delivers expertly. The corn tortillas are some of the best I've ever had, vegan or otherwise, but like any good tortilla, you better eat it fresh because even after 30 mins it starts to harder and lose some of its soft supple tortilla magic. Rice and beans are fire which is necessary for a good mexican place, and for the meats everytthing was good but I think the al pastor was maybe my fav.
