I shared the mole enchiladas and lengua en salsa verde from this Mexican place. Of these, the lengua en salsa verde was my favorite. The beef tongue was cooked pretty well. Although it's naturally very fatty, the flavor and juiciness was retained after cooking - so they didn't screw it up. The salsa verde was a very nice accompaniment, as it tasted light, fresh, and a good complement to the fat of the meat. The mole enchiladas were less good. The mole sauce used leaned way too heavily on a sweet flavor - having little to no nuttiness whatsoever. It didn't taste anywhere close to some of the best moles I've had. The enchilada underneath was fine - nothing special. Both dishes came with beans and rice. Both were slightly above average, but nothing to write home about. I would say the portions were well sized in terms of overall amount, but the enchiladas were quite small compared to the beans and rice. With these two dishes we ended up around 28 per person. We recently made it back to Fogon Cocina Mexicana for dinner after a long, we had earlier gotten takeout only during the pandemic. We loved the vibes, the food and the service so much we made it back here for dinner again within a week. Our first time here we got Tacos Cameron, and Pollo Asado. We were served a complimentary Bean Tostada that was a great start to our meal. I loved the Shrimp tacos, one of the best I have had in the Seattle area. The Pollo Asado was good, so were the rice and beans that came with it. We asked them if they had a house hot sauce and we were given a spicy salsa that we loved. We finished our meal with a Choco Flan. It was delicious and huge, we couldn't finish it. Our second time we decided to try different items, and got Quesadilla Fritas, and Pescado Frito. It was my first time having Quesadilla Fritas, I got it with chorizo y papas and I enjoyed it. We absolutely loved Pescado Frito, the whole tilapia was fried perfectly, it's one of the best items we have had anywhere in a long time. We were told it is one of their best seller menu items and we got the last fish for the night. All their ingredients are so fresh, it elevates the meal. We finished our meal with Flan. One of the best Mexican spots in Seattle. The food is pretty authentic. Starts with a complimentary taco and goes up from there. The ceviche is great, and the loaded nachos are my personal favorite. Portions are solid for the price. Staffs are attentive and friendly, and the space works well whether you're coming with one person or a big group. One thing to keep in mind: this place gets a line during peak hours, so if you show up hungry and unprepared, you might regret it. Seated immediately on a Friday at 5 pm just in time for their happy hour from 4-6 pm daily. Menus and water were laid out and then a free refried bean tostada quickly was dropped off at the table, which was crunchy and delicious. Service was attentive and quick that whole night, they cleaned up tables at lightening speed next to us. All the portion sizes of the food were large. Added chicken to our nachos, removed tomatoes, and server offered to put guac on the side because that had tomatoes too. Food was good, my only comment was that the torta was dry, so I added the salsa from the chips&salsa dish to it which made it better. Got an ultimate margarita, it was alcohol forward which I prefer. I didn't really have high expectations going in since happy hours are usually hectic at any restaurant, but left pleasantly surprised, buzzed, and full. Waiter seemed annoyed we were getting happy hour food, didn't really check on us, kind of had a bit of an attitude. Latinos giving other latinos attitude is kind of obvious. The food was good, but attitude will easily make me not return anywhere. THE BEST Mexican restaurant I've experienced in Seattle! From the decor, to the service, the drinks and the FOOD! Everything was excellent! I asked a good friend who has great taste, what's her fav Mexican restaurants and Fogón was first on her list. And guess what? Now it's mine too! I treated my Grandma to lunch and it was truly a treat to us both. Our server was friendly, and patient. We were given a vegetarian tostada as a complementary appetizer. We came around lunch time so we were lucky enough to order from the lunch menu. Once you walk in there is a person making fresh tortillas. So you know this place is going to be good! As a former Southern Californian, Mexican food was something I've given up on trying in Seattle. Which is probably why it had taken me so long to visit Fogon, and wow don't I wish I had tried them sooner! The food, service, and ambience were all amazing, and I can't wait to go back. My husband and I went around 2pm on a Wednesday, and the restaurant was fairly empty, as we had hoped. We got the nachos with carne asada, ceviche, and then the churros. We got the full portion of both the nachos and ceviche, even though it was lunch time and they had half portions available. Everything we had was phenomenal- it rang simple done really well. The beans, cheese, carne asada, onions, tomatos, guac, and crema on the nachos were seasoned well and generously portioned. The chips were the thick crispy kind which held up well under all the toppings. I liked how the topping were distributed- I was able to get a little bit of everything with every bite. The ceviche was refreshing and full of large shrimp chunks. The churros came with a scoop of ice cream, and it was a really nice way to end the meal. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the strawberry filling in the churro. I'm looking forward to going back and trying other items on the menu! read more

After flying in from the Bay and checking out some of the landmarks I found this place on Yelp. The pictures of the food looked promising and so I made my way up. I took a seat at the bar and ordered the mole enchiladas and a margarita. While I waited I noticed how trendy and lively the space was. This is definitely a place you come in a group to enjoy drinks. It's definitely got the vibe for that. My food came out piping hot and while I had high expectations for this dish it reminded me of a dish I had at Chevys years ago. The margarita was fine nothing out of the ordinary. When the bill came I was surprised the dish and margarita with tip was a little over $41. On the last night of our trip I wanted us to go somewhere with a lively vibe and delicious dinner. Walking up the hill to this place i was able to sense the vibe was going to be just what I was looking for. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a genuine smile and sat at our table. A few minutes after placing our orders we were presented with bean tostadas. Complimentary might I add! They were hot, fresh, flavorful and with the right kind of crunch. Main meal was 3 tacos de asada on their homemade tortillas. I added pineapple and grilled onions to my tacos. The plate included rice and beans. That first bite had me nodding my head "yes" immediately. The meat was flavorful and tender, the pineapple was sweet and juicy which paired perfectly with the salsa on top, and the tortilla had a soft bite that held everything together nicely. Now, what truly took this night to another level for me was the dessert. Churros with cajeta filling. Best dessert I have had in a very long time. Churros were soft and warm with the perfect sweet chew. The cajeta was rich and silky. That, along with the creamy and soft vanilla ice cream had me quickly text a picture to my mom lol. One of my top Mexican restaurants on Pine st or in Seattle in general. They have a daily happy hour and the crowds flock here. There is always a wait because the food and the vibe is that good. Once seated they start you off with a complimentary chicken tostado. It's delicious. It's a preview of what the food is going to taste like. Fogón is my favorite Mexican restaurant ever! It's so delicious and has such a fun vibe. It's always packed so we try to get there on the early side since they don't take reservations. My two favorites are the carne asada and tortilla soup! You can also get a great deal on the tortilla soup if you're there during happy hour. The tortillas are so soft and addicting. The restaurant really lived up to the hype! Both food and ambiance were great. When we arrived, there was a mariachi band playing. The flavors were definitely some of the best I've tasted. The tall windows facing the corner let in plenty of natural light, and the complimentary appetizer tostada, served before we'd even opened the menu, was a delicious way to whet our appetites. The 11-3 lunch menu didn't skimp on portion sizes. My enfrijoladas had juicy, hard-seared carne asada, and the refried-bean-soaked tortillas and cabbage contributed delicious texture to each bite. My mother opted for 2 carne asada tacos, which looked beautiful and got devoured. From the food perspective, the guacamole and margarita were less successful. The guac was so, so creamy, but I felt it was missing alliums and tomatoes (for textural contrast). My house marg mainly tasted of alcohol. Great Mexican food! I almost always go for the carne asada. It is truly delicious and so filling. The fresh corn tortillas are what seal the deal. I never leave hungry. The service was extremely courteous and kind, there was a wait on a Friday night but went much faster than we expected (only about 20 minutes), and the food came out hot and quickly. My expectations were exceeded, and the happy hour here is such a good deal! Happy hour is from 3pm-6pm, and there is a select drink and food menu. You do have to order a drink (this can be shared) from the menu in order to order food off of the happy hour menu. My friend and I ordered 3 food items ($7 each!) and 1 margarita to share, and the portions were big, and we both ended up taking leftovers home. We both loved the sopillas, and I'd never had them before and it was a great introduction to the dish.
