Very delicious food! Looked up restaurants for my Seattle trip and came across this place. Great service and very beautiful place! Definitely recommend it to others that are traveling for Seattle. We did have to park a bit far because it's hard to find parking other than that a good place to eat!

Chile En Nogada - apparently this is authentic and delicious. I wasn't a fan, but this was my first time having it.

If you're suckered in by the sweet bread and Oaxaca hot chocolate just know that's ONLY a brunch thing (*cries* but also, makes sense). So the above items mentioned brought me in. But I'm glad we were able to experience this place regardless. The main dishes are very authentic, from what I've read in other reviews. My husband and I ended up getting the Chile En Nogada & Cochinita Pibil. I'm a pretty adventurous eater and the Chile En Nogada was, different. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. I think if you've had this before an liked it, then from what I've read, this is authentic and delicious. But as a first timer, I don't think my palate was ready for it. I'll say I'm glad I tried it, but wouldn't order it again. The Cochinita Pibil though was great! We got the Dubai cake for dessert. I wanted this because people have been raving about Dubai chocolate lately, and this was another flop for me. Not my vibe. But did we finish it? Heck yeah. Haha. The ambiance we great, a little loud but still fun. A two top table is a bit too small for the XXL plates you get, so it does feel a bit cramped and awkward once all the food is out. Drinks were STRONG. Which I didn't notice until I stood up. Ha. The spicy margarita was very good!

Pan dulce con café de olla. So good!

There's a bit of a wait but the service and the food were really good. Definitely a must when in Seattle! The cafe de olla was really good! The food was yummy as well.

This is our usual go to spot for Mexican food. Ordered huarache and birria tacos. Both taste amazing. They do have a small parking lot behind the restaurant or street parking. Highly recommend and would come back again

My husband said "this is one of my favorite restaurants for sure!" And then the next day he said "ahhh I miss this place already..." So yeah this place definitely deserves 5 stars!! We got carne asada and rib eyes steak! And wow the portion was huge for the Carne Asada! The meat marinated so well and so tender! And if you ordered the rib eye, you will definitely get everyone's attention because they brought me the sizzling pan. It's super duper hot so please be careful!! It kept the steak hot the whole meal, but the only part I didn't like is because the pan was too hot, it overcooked the meat at the end. The service was nice, he was really nice and always there to check on us. I really like the tree in the middle in the restaurant!! It's such a vibe!

Wow, finally I found authentic Mexican food in Seattle!!! It was very tasty and filling. They offer a bottle of champagne with juices such as mango and passionfruit for brunch. Our server was clearly young and confused about the menu but she did call over for help with a more experienced waiter which I appreciated! Overall the customer service was great and I will be back.

I'm obsessed with this place and already know I'll be coming back next time I'm in Seattle. Could not recommend enough to anyone going to the city. My boyfriend and I came right when they opened after our drive in from Portland, and there was already a line out the door -- definitely recommend making a reservation if you can. Luckily, the line moved fast and we got seated pretty quickly. The food was incredible. Everything was so flavorful and exceeded my expectations. The handmade tortillas? Unreal. So warm and soft -- you can seriously taste the difference. My boyfriend ordered the pozole (even though it felt a little pricey), but honestly it was worth it. Super rich and comforting, and there was way more meat in there than it looked like at first. One of my favorite parts was the sweet bread cart -- they come around with a tray of fresh pastries and it smelled SO good, I didn't even hesitate. Perfect with a cup of coffee. Such a cool little touch that made the whole experience feel extra special. The vibes inside were cozy and colorful -- it felt like being in a little café in Mexico. Super warm, inviting, and the service was great too. Can't wait to come back need to try the cocktails

This has been probably the best Mexican food I've had since moving here to Washington(I'm from West Texas) so it's nice to know if I want a great Mexican I know where to go!

    D'la Santa Parrillada
    Vivi R.

Great food and even better service. The Parrillada was impressive--tender, high-quality cuts--and the cheese was the perfect complement to the meal. Despite the house being packed immediately at opening, the team found us a spot right away without making us feel rushed. A wonderful find, just be prepared for a crowd. And do make reservations if you can!!

Everyone who says there's no good Mexican food in Seattle has obviously never tried this place! The food is delicious and the service is super nice. The decor is also beautiful with the tree in the middle of the restaurant, and I love the vibes at brunch when they push around a cart with pastries and mimosas. One dish I loved here was the Chile en Nogada. I feel like finding this dish is a rarity at any Mexican restaurant, so I always order it if I see it. This dish had so many flavors but everything worked together harmoniously. The smokiness of the poblano, the meaty and fruity flavors from the filling, the nutty sweet flavors of the sauce. It sounds a bit weird, but it all works together and you should try it if you haven't. The one downside of this restaurant is that they don't take reservations so come early or be prepared to wait. The wait can be 2-3 hours at peak times, but one good thing is that you can join the waitlist online so definitely do that before going to the restaurant.

    Tacoarte!!
    Max K.

My wife and I had a great experience here! We came to try the tacoarte we saw on yelp and were not disappointed! It was really tasty and full of different taco options! Our waitress really nice and checked on us often and I loved how small and intimate it felt inside the restaurant. It was pretty busy but we didn't need to wait, we may have just been lucky! Excited to come back and branch out on foods, but the tacoarte was a great place to start!

DELICIOUS tacos! Oh my goodness. The tacos de birria were so scrumptious. Would totally order that again. The guacamole was yummy but not the most amazing guacamole I have ever had. I was however, obsessed with the tostada chips that came with the guacamole. Also, we sat down and the server immediately brought us a sharing platter of toppings like radish, pico de gallo, onions, and cilantro. This was complimentary for our meal! It was the best toppings for the tacos i ordered. I also highly recommend ordering a margarita or one of their yummy cocktails to pair with your meal! They are so good and refreshing. Definitely a must order on a sunny day! Service was sooo great. Super friendly staff and quick service.

Went during brunch, so just had appetizers, food was excellent but really wanted dinner items. Will have to go back! Waiter was awesome and informative and had a great conversation with him. Restaurants small and nicely decorated.

D' La Santa Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - D' La Santa

Is the parking lot behind their building also for D'La Santa customers?

    Yes

Are they social distancing? What are the safety protocols now (Fall 2021)?

While social distancing was fine (admittedly as soon as they opened at 5pm) half of their staff were not wearing masks. Left within minutes of seeing that.

    Are they airconditioned?

Yes, it's nice and cool in there!

Is the fact that they no longer accept reservations an issue on a Sunday night?

No, it's not a problem. It is the easiest and fastest way to get a table. Having reservations makes everything slower because customers do not arrive on time and the tables are unoccupied with waiting customers who could use them.

Although it's naturally very fatty, the flavor and juiciness was retained after cooking - so they didn't screw it up. The salsa verde was a very nice accompaniment, as it tasted light, fresh, and a good complement to the fat of the meat. The mole enchiladas were less good. The mole sauce used leaned way too heavily on a sweet flavor - having little to no nuttiness whatsoever. It didn't taste anywhere close to some of the best moles I've had. The enchilada underneath was fine - nothing special. Both dishes came with beans and rice. Both were slightly above average, but nothing to write home about. I would say the portions were well sized in terms of overall amount, but the enchiladas were quite small compared to the beans and rice. With these two dishes we ended up around 28 per person. Overall, it's average Mexican food. 6.5/10

So many of our regular spots had lines out the door, which was no surprise, but we ended up getting a table here. Figured Mexican food is hard to mess up. Started with drinks- THE BEST MARGARITA I HAVE EVER HAD. It was perfectly balanced, fresh, just perfect to me. My fiance got a horchata and loved it too. They have an option where you can try ALL of their dips for $20, which I couldn't resist. It was so fun, they had like 9 different ones! I got the shrimp tacos and they were so flavorful that I almost gasped. The creamy sauce, crunchy veggie toppers, smooth avocado, and perfectly cooked shrimp...just wow. I will be dreaming about this dish for years to come. I am a pescatarian and gluten free and there were TONS of options for me. They mostly use corn for everything, not flour. The staff was gracious and kind. They seemed a little understaffed but truly made the most of it and made every table feel attended to and special, which was so lovely. Really cool vibe- lots of art and special touches. A really cool place that I can't wait to recommend to friends.

Before it seemed like Maiz Molino was focusing on elevated, unique Mexican dishes (shown in the pics in my prior review such as short rib, and other sort of "fusion" dishes, and more seafood focused, etc.) Now, the menu seems way more generic and casual like enchiladas, tacos, quesadillas, tamales, etc. just offered w/ different proteins. They are still focusing on maiz but just a bit more generic in the preparation and offerings. Also, they had 2 separate menus which was a bit confusing. One is a generic all day menu and then another menu had brunch and dinner on it. It was around 5:30 p.m. but they were out of a particular steak dish that we were interested in. Service was friendly. We had enchiladas, a dip sampler (for appetizer) and Tlacoyos. Everything was fine but nothing really stood out, sadly. It wasn't very busy while we were there, so hoping that they are doing ok as a business. I would love to come back if they brought back the old menu w/ things that you cannot really find elsewhere, including the great cocktail menu and desserts that were offered previously.

Andrew (our server) introduced us to his sidekick, who was in training. Love that personal, hands on approach for a mew team member, and Sidekick did a great job in monitoring our table and replenishing water. Have to stop here and express my appreciation for Andrew and how he took the time to explain the philosophy and genuine team vibe of the restaurant. Oftentimes when a restaurant adds a flat 20% gratuity, you get the feeling this is not passed on to the servers. Not so here. He explained that it's shared among the servers, bar, and other staff, with only a bit retained by management, but even that finds its way into their wages. Terrific work environment and happy to see it. It definitely shows in the level of service. But we're here to eat. Didn't take a picture, but one of my dining companions ordered the burrito with red chili sauce and it was very good. Just the right amount of heat in the sauce. The Cantina celebrates Taco Tuesday, so I took advantage of this. You get the opportunity to try 5 different street tacos for the low price of $15. For another $4 you order it fully loaded which is a steal (guac, pickled onions, lettuce, giardano, crema, and another lovely sauce). Each of the tacos were really delicious and packed full of flavor. I especially enjoyed the cauliflower and the beef. Was surprised how much I liked the popcorn chicken - still juicy and not greasy in the least. Andrew treated us to a round of the hatch green chili. I was delighted because it was a dish I wanted to try. He described it perfectly: a little kick, but you can't stop eating it. He was right. A bowl of this in the winter with their cornbread (which I'm confident will be delicious) will preempt a winter cold. The sauces on the table are not to be ignored either. The green chili sauce was fruity with a little heat, the scorpion chili brings the heat, but their homemade chili oil is phenomenal. I could put this on everything. In short, the Cantina delivers. Excellent food, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and fun staff, and a cool vibe. I'll bet the cocktails will also be good. Definitely adding to the regular rotation!

That being said the I had the carne asada wet burrito with both read and verde sauce on top. It had a really good flavor! The carne asada was chopped pretty small so it was not easy to get a whole bite. Overall it was delicious and hit the spot. I am not big on paying for chips and salsa which $5.00 especially when I have to get up and walk over to the salsa bar. I wish they would have labeled the salsa as well. The vibe was casual and they have outdoor covered patio. Now on to the service: first my burrito came out very quick and was hot. The big reason for two star is the lack of service by the wait staff. I ordered a soda water with Ice which I was not charged for. I hate when I have to pay for carbonated water. Sadly the your server did not pay attention to my drink or check on me for most of my meal. She finally came over and I asked for a refill she took the glass but did not return. When she walked back over I had to remind her of my soda water. When she brought the check I put my card down and again it took a while for her to return. I would be willing to extend some grace if the restaurant was packed but it was virtually empty. I base a lot of my review on service and food quality. But slow service or lack there of will generally mean I don't return even though the food was good and came out quick. Too bad because it was a good meal especially for the price $24.00 including the chips and salsa before tax. Maybe you will have a better experience.
