Worst dentist I have ever seen. She said I needed to have 3 bottom teeth removed. i went to ucla dental school for second opinion and I was told she lied. Carmen Castillo wanted to remove perfect teeth. She went on to explain I have bleeding gums, I take care of my teeth and do not have bleeding gums. She also has a photo in her office about volunteering to help underprivileged children. I volunteered to the same organization. Dr Castillo is not helping disadvantaged children. I am very particular about who I see for medical care and I have been a patient of Dr. Castillo since 2006 and have been though not only regular exams and cleanings, but also fillings, and more complex matters like cracked tooth issues and molding of mouth guards. Local politicians that know the professionals in their area originally recommended Dr. Castillo to me. She is a dentist to go to if you like the old-fashioned personalized dental care as opposed to the impersonal out-of-the-box corner or shopping center dental care. She takes a personal interest in her patients and starts each day with a meeting with her staff to discuss the patients coming in for the day and possible treatments. She is also very particular about the people she hires to work with her. Her staff works as a team and everyone is very pleasant and informative. For me, she even interrupted a long legal holiday weekend and broke away from her family to meet me at her office to relieve a severe tooth pain I encountered on a plane trip. Other Dentists I called while on the trip out of town refused to come to the office and at most would just call in a prescription. On trying to decide what to do with a problem tooth, she took time during her lunch hour and end of the day on multiple occasions to talk with me about the options so that I could make a decision. She never makes you feel rushed and is always willing to give you her best opinion. It is amazing to me that people will drive from Los Angeles to San Diego for a vacation, but when it comes to their teeth, a trip to Manhattan Beach to receive superior dental care is too much effort and they will just go to whoever is closest to home or whoever their insurance recommends. I have moved all over the Los Angeles area from Redondo Beach to Beverly Hills, but I always drive over to Manhattan Beach to see Dr. Castillo. I don't write many reviews because few deserve and it's time consuming, but after many visits to see her over 4 years, I can state with confidence that she is one of the better Dentists in the Los Angeles area. While no one likes going to the dentist, the mood, atmosphere, and location of her office almost makes you look forward to your next appointment. Folks always ask me what the professional fees are for their services: An oral exam by the dentist is $38.00 and a Prophylaxis (cleaning by the hygienist) is $110 as of March, 2014 and they take most forms of credit/debit cards. read more

Let me start by saying Dr Carmen Castillo and staff are the very best I've used in my 64 years. Although I'm relatively new they treat my like a long standing patient / friend. Dr Castillo fit me in when I was in extreme pain even though I didn't have an appointment. And this was how it all started. She took the time needed to remedy the situation (didn't just rush through). She was kind, caring, and a consummate professional. It doesn't stop there all the staff has the same professionalism. My Hygenist Jennifer is my heart, she makes a procedure that nobody looks forward to almost a joy. Michelle, Dr Castillo's assistant is such a loving person, she always makes me feel special. Maria, Sarah every staff member I have contact with let's me know I found a gem when I found this practice. But I'm not done, their cleanliness and sterilization efforts are beyond reproach, and with COVID-19 it's above and beyond. Amazing dentist. It's not like the visits you had when you were a kid. Dr. Carmen is talented, friendly, gentle, and patient. Her hygienists who clean my teeth regularly are great too! The staff is well organized and nice. The office interior is designed in a cute cape cod style. It feels like home! And I can't wait to get my teeth cleaned. They have paraffin hand dips and a movie all ready to go while you are getting cleaned. And at the end they have a hot towel and lip balm! YES! Dr. Carmen how did you know that I need that lip balm at the end? So thoughtful! It's the little things... At Christmas the staff have a Christmas Tree Ornament decorating contest and the patients enter to win a prize by guessing which ornament is the best. It's so nice to see the staff and the patients involved. It's definitely a great dental experience to look forward to. read more

Dr. Carmen has been my dentist for many years. She really cares about your oral health.The staff is very personable and professional. The dental office is very clean and dental equipment is up to date. I love to watch a movie while getting my teeth cleaned and at the end of your treatment you receive a hot towel to clean your face. Dr. Castillo and everybody in her office are terrific both professionally and personally. Thanks to them, I am on a path of much better care and preservation of my dental health. I went to her after five months of pain following some work done by my former dentist who was unable to address the problem. She took care of the problem with patience, understanding, state of the art technology, personal compassion, and fine tuned skill. They really took the time necessary to educate me about the better care of my teeth and gums, and she fixed my bite so that I can eat normally once again. Dr Castillo and staff provide superb service at all times. I've been coming to this office for about 5 years now. I've always been terrified of the dentist office. The sound of the drill, the smell, just everything scared me. I have had several painful encounters with incompetent uncaring dentists. When I was provided Dr. Castillo name from my aunt, I decided to try it one more time. I've never been a person to go to the dentist on a regular basis. I've always had great insurance but only saw the dentist when I was in pain. Flash forward... My very first visit with Dr Castillo was very comforting. Dr. Castillo sat me down in her office and spoke to me empathically and advised me that she would be gentle with me and would explain things to me as she performed any services. I felt comforted. She relaxed my fears and I received services at her office. The staff were great as well. They offered me a blanket to cover my legs, they provided me with a hand paraffin treatment and asked what movie or music would I like to listen to or watch while receiving my services. I was very relaxed and surprised. As Dr. Castillo performed the services, she explained everything that she was doing, which comforted me as well. I've been continuing to visit Dr. Castillo for the past years and would not want to see any other dentist. Thank you Dr. Castillo, Sly, Jennifer and other staff for handling this big cry baby with tender loving care. You all Rock!!!! What can I say- Dr. Castillo has saved a number of my teeth and treats me like family. I used to be terribly scared of the dentist but Dr. Carmen always takes the time to explain the process and does incredible work. She is like a hummingbird, gentle but precise. I compare her approach to that of an artist, because that is the kind of care and effort she puts in every time. She wants you to feel great, look great and have the very best result each time.
