Beautiful restaurant, great menu to choose from but service was hit and miss. Reservations for 6, and 10 minutes late. Host was fantastic, showed us to our table and they had a sweet note for my 17yr old. We all ordered our favorites except for my youngest who isn't very adventurous so we came up with a possible solution of chicken Alfredo with sauce on the side so we could test if she liked it. About 10 minutes later we realized we weren't asked about ordering appetizers which we had planned to do, but at this point it was to late and didn't want apps and entree landing too close together so we waited. Our table was closest to the kitchen and I noticed them plating our food. I noticed as they were plating the pasta they were double checking the check and talking with each other, fast forward a few minutes and they served the food, looked lovely except my youngests chicken Alfredo came with the sauce already mixed. My daughter insisted that I don't say anything and that she would like it. Not a surprise but two bites in she stopped eating it. My meal was the risotto which looked and smelled fantastic and for the most part was good. Unfortunately 4 separate fork bites had crab shells that I was fishing out of my mouth. For a 40$ risotto I would expect no shells. The other 3 people ate their food and enjoyed it. As for service I had to ask for drink refills and, however they were quick with their water refills. My husband and I made reservations here for the first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The entire experience was outstanding starting with the warm greeting received at the check in desk to the romantic ambiance throughout the restaurant and ending with the attentive service by our waitress. For our appetizers, ordered the bruschetta trio and a small insalata di Cesare to start and they were both excellent! For our main entree, we both ordered the Gnocchi Sorrentina with brown butter and sage. This dish was incredible and the gnocchi basically melted in your mouth! Carmine's was probably the only place left in Bellevue that I haven't try yet, so I'm glad there was an excuse to finally visit here for a dear family member's birthday. My aunt wanted a fancy place so here we are, pinky up while sipping water out of wine glasses. I must say that Italian food is one of the cuisine in which I'm not familiar with because they always have sophisticated names for their dishes and if I try to read the description to figure out what it entitles, it still sounds foreign to me. Good thing there's Yelp where the community provides photos! Plus our server did such a good job helping us select an entrée. A lot of their pasta dishes come in small or large size. Order a large if you're planning to only have one item, the small isn't enough to fill you, but if you order other dishes along with it, it's a great opportunity to sample many different things. Absolutely love Carmine's! The ambiance is so pretty inside and on the deck and the waiters and waitresses are very social. Usually I order pastas like Spaghetti di Finochio (fennel sausage in a fennel vodka cream sauce), Spaghetti Ortolano (arugula, goat cheese, tomatoes, pine nuts and EVOO) and other which are all incredible! This time we got all main dishes which were delicious. The brown butter and sage gnocchi that came with the filet was my favorite thing of the entire meal and I wish I had a full bowl of it. I've been here a couple of times now and I enjoy the environment but not blown away by the food. It's difficult to make good Italian food in my opinion, much of it ends up tasting mediocre. We had the bolognese, mushroom ravioli, sálate de mista & tartare. The tartare was good, as well as the salad although, very basic. The pasta dishes have average flavor. The noodles do not taste any better than Cheesecake Factory.. The bread here is definitely better though! Then I had an espresso martini, delicious. My husband had an old fashioned.. not good. Carmine goes to Bellevue!!! I mean what's not to like about carmine. IL terrazzo carmine was a favorite. Intermezzo Carmine was where I had a few of my own birthdays and a lot of drinks. And this one. This ones like a combination of both but with a bigger patio seating. Came here for my birthday month meal. I'm still not fully into indoor dining yet: given that we've gone back and forth with the indoor dining / takeouts rule here in WA. I opted for an outdoor dining: luckily their patio is covered with flowers and greens. Also it rained that day so we had some bugs visit us from the flowers too. Adventure! Luckily/ Sadly I was one of the only 2 tables outside for the whole entire meal. Inside was beautiful and super busy for a Tuesday lunch. Definitely dining indoor next time. Started with their Calamari with capers and olives. Perfect. Love the tangy olives and capers. It's was nice and soft and delicious. Linguine alla Vongole: This is my all time favorite dish! And usually when I go back home ( Italy), they have bianco and rosso versions especially if you're in south of Italy/ seafood/ beach towns. I assumed this was bianco but to my surprise, I missed the primavera in the menu. Came rosso aka red. And surprisingly I enjoyed it! A lot. Rigatoni Bolognese: nice, rich, thick, traditional meat sauce. It's like very homey dish for me. Ended it all with a tiramisu! A strong tiramisu. It was a nice lunch. Love the small details they do -- a handwritten happy birthday note card on our table and the staff's "happy birthday" greetings as they walk past our table. Trying critical feedback for once. The walk in experience was good, parking was easy, and even for a busy Friday night it was well staffed enough that it was possible to walk in and get a table for two. We ordered the sautéed calamari with olives capers and tomatoes to start which was very solid. Maybe slightly under seasoned but the flavors were fresh. For our mains we got Spaghetti di Finochio which had a fennel sausage and a cream sauce. It was underseasoned which was a shame because the pasta was perfectly cooked. Likewise the duck was a disappointment, a bad cut with a tendon right down the middle; the skin wasn't quite crispy and it was unevenly cooked. The risotto and beans it came with were good but ''twas odd that the sides had more flavor than the centerpiece of the dish. We had the red velvet cake for dessert which was very very good. Moist, not too sweet and the raspberry flavor was a great idea. The service was very solid, not too pushy but attentive and prompt. Wine was good. Would give a three and half if I could but the mains were just a let down unfortunately. We were both really looking forward to the duck and it just wasn't good. If the mains get a bit better this would be a very nice Friday night destination; as it is its more of a convenience location. read more

I think this just became our new favorite Italian restaurant in Seattle. A great rival to The Pink Door, and has a greater variety of dishes on the menu. It was extremely busy on a Wednesday night which goes to show that reservations are a must if you want a table for dine-in. We got a super cute table at their outdoor patio and ordered a caprese salad, mushroom risotto, salmon penne, pesto fettuccine, and of course, a tiramisu for the table. The food was ridiculously tasty, and while we waited we nibbled on some of the yummiest house-made bread and olive oil. We didn't have to wait too long for the food to arrive, which is surprising given how busy they were last night. Great food in a beautiful setting. Everyone loved their food!! We had the sautéed calamari--which was especially tasty because it had tomatoes and Kalamata olives. Then I had their risotto with crab and truffle--need I say more--was the best dish at our table. Others had steak risotto....which was actually great; gnocchi, and the steak. All great. The bartender was incredibly kind (can't remember his name, he just moved here from Tacoma). Extremely knowledgeable for being new. We were looking for a particular style of Italian red wine, so he grabbed one of his co workers without haste and picked out something incredible. The dilemma here....the wine was so incredible that it really made the food seem extremely dull. We ordered the wagyu tartare, it was extremely bland. I hate feeling like I have to ask for salt to make something come alive. We ordered the sage and brown butter gnocchi which absolutely stole the show. But the Osso Bucco was extremely dry. To the point we couldn't even get through it. The parpadelle side wish was way better. Others reviews this past month also state the sides were better than the main dish. Sad we weren't the only ones. We stopped eating the main course in hopes for dessert to shine through. The bread pudding was extremely dry as well. Really cute place in Bellevue. Came in yesterday and they are already fully booked even some of the bar seats. And this was just a Tuesday. I recommend calling in a reservation if you really want to eat here. Food is mostly pretty good. The bruschetta appetizer was delightful but the calamari was really bland and the dipping sauces were not good. The mushroom risotto was very rich and decadent. I loved it but it was just a little too much for such a hot day yesterday. Service was good but slow but I can't blame the servers because the restaurant was packed and it just looked like they were understaffed. Our server was also bartending. His drinks were great! Our party shared a couple of pasta dishes, we got something with a vodka sauce and another dish with pesto. They were both very good and again very rich. This establishment is unwelcoming to Black people. Not only was Joshua P constantly snatching things from our hands, but he was also rushing us the entire time we were eating! We couldn't take a good photo without him lingering in the back, waiting for us to leave. He even went as far as fluffing the seats next to ours to shoo us along, even though the table was perfectly clean and had no guests sitting there while we ate. Very rude and inconsiderate. Boy, was it busy for a weekday, can't imagine what it would be like on the weekends! We ordered the wagyu tartare (a must! There is an app-based parking garage below the restaurant, be sure to validate after your meal, otherwise it is very expensive. The Caprese is simple, fresh and delicious, however the Fried Calamari was salty and greasy, not recommended. It could have been amped up with some color or crunch. The porkchop, which we asked to be cooked medium, was cooked rare. To the point where the texture made me a little nervous and I wanted to microwave the meat to ensure it was cooked and safe to eat. Not ideal. The tiramisu is not just "untraditional," as other reviewers wrote; it's marginal. It is a little bit of cake with some whipped cream. And it's a small portion. First things first, we came on Tuesday night for a birthday celebration, there was about 14 of us. They had us outside where it was absolutely freezing only one of the heated lamps was working, they took forever to come fix the second one.. I wouldn't say the service was horrible, it was mediocre. The waiter later on did catch a attitude because we asked to split the bill. He said he was unable to do that, even though I work as a server myself. I know it's possible. I asked him for a box for my food & he completely ignored my request. Now for the food, it wasn't as good as it should be considering the pricing. Literally everyone at my table disliked what they ordered. Some of us even sent our food back & requested something else. We ordered probably about 15 minutes after being sat & didn't get out entree until about 2 hours later, as I said before I work in the restaurant industry so I know how things may be, I tried to be patient. We originally booked an outdoor table but it was pouring and windy so we ended up going indoor in our own little private area! Kellen was our waiter and he was amazing. I had chicken breast-Suprema Di Pollo Farcita and it was filled with ricotta cheese--fantastic!!-- and my husband had a seafood pasta dish. We shared a Caprese salad. Terrible. We've been looking to dine here for awhile and wandered in this afternoon for lunch. One star because the server was fantastic. The rest of the experience, however, was a huge miss. The caprese salad: 0/5. It's clear that this dish is prepared far in advance and left to cool for hours on end (or more!) in the fridge. Tomatoes should NEVER be served chilled because refrigeration kills their flavor (and their nutrients!). The mozzarella was bland, lifeless and at the end of its sad, short shelf life. The gnocchi was another clear miss: 1/5. The sauce was passable, but the gnocchi was super over-cooked. Gnocchi should be soft on the inside but firm on the outside, which gives it a soft bite and texture. It cooks fast and needs to be removed from boiling water as soon as it floats. Even better if it's pan-seared for a few minutes post-boil to give it the hint of a crust. Authentic potato gnocchi is prepared the night before and left to cook overnight, all to prevent over-doneness. This gnocchi was pure mush...so over-cooked and tired that it couldn't be picked up with a fork and needed to be scooped up with a spoon. The presentation was beautiful, but the taste left so much to be desired. If I had to guess, it was frozen awhile ago and then boiled on demand. For $20 a plate, it didn't deliver. The cannolis: 1/5. The shells were stale. The filling was lackluster. The Godfather would have for sure taken the guns and left these suckers on the table, or at least sent them back to the kitchen. We did give some modest feedback to our waiter, and we paid the bill in full (+ tip) and got up to leave. Now, here's where it gets weird. As we were leaving, the manager cornered us at the door. She had heard our feedback that the gnocchi was over-cooked. But she didn't approach us to apologize or make it right. Instead, she wanted to tell us that gnocchi is a matter of "personal preference" and that we all have "different tastes". She told us that she loves the gnocchi and wanted to go to bat for it. So, if we didn't like it, it must be because there's something wrong with us. I mean, the aggression was just so confusing and not a good look in 2022. Yes, we all have different tastes for sure, but no one likes soft gnocchi holding onto the last shreds of its virtue as it drowns in a vat of over-salted sauce. Had she sought to understand our perspective and taken the feedback and tried to make it right, we would have for sure tried some other dishes or come back another time. But, after she chased us down just to insult us, we for sure won't be back. Ever. There are lots of other authentic Italian restaurants in Seattle with much better food and a far superior experience.
