Carmine's is now one of our favorite Italian restaurants. The first time we went for our anniversary, my wife absolutely loved their pesto and prawn fettuccine and I thoroughly enjoyed the steak. Dinner time was busy and noisy, but the ambiance/decor was nice and mainly the food was delicious. Second time we went for lunch, when it was less busy and sat on the bar side of the restaurant. I would give a negative rating if i could because the restaurant DENIED service to me on the basis of my race. I had confirmed on my reservation the previous night, arrive on time to the restaurant. I request to be seated and the hostess says they have completed seating for the night. When i mentioned that i had indeed confirmed on my reservation the previous night, she goes on to say "In that case, the kitchen is closed". That very statement clearly indicates her intention to deny service. I'd definitely give Carmine's a 3.5 (thanks to the wonderful Prosecco and amazing bread, plus atmosphere), but can't justify a full 4 stars so here we are. I dined here in December for a work lunch, and was excited to try someplace new. The interior is fairly large and comfortable, yet classy. For drinks I went with a glass of Prosecco, and it was one of the most delicious Proseccos I've had! No funky flavors going on here. I detected hints of apple or pear... not sure if that's just my taste buds, but I would highly recommend regardless--it was the 2020 Baccio Della Luna Superiore Brut Veneto, IT (~$16). Yes I took a photo of the menu in hopes to get my hands on a bottle one of these days. The bread was also great! It was both fresh and flavorful. Some bread baskets contain dry bread devoid of flavor but thankfully that was not the case here. I honestly should have grabbed more because my meal was less enticing and not quite satisfying even for a light lunch eater. I try to consume mostly plant-based so I went with the Panzanella con Fagioli ($18). The description states "vine tomatoes and bread salad with sliced onions, basil, marinated Cannellini beans, cucumbers, avocado. Tossed with Carmine's House Vinaigrette." So. By definition a panzanella is a bread salad, and there is generally no lettuce involved. What I was served was a mediocre portion of not-the-freshest romaine along with a scant smattering of the ingredients listed in the description. Definitely not a bread salad, and most certainly not worth $18. Thankfully I was not paying ha. This dish had potential, it just didn't hit the mark. If I ever come back I will see if they can veganize a pasta dish, because there are a couple vegetarian options on the menu, plus everyone else seemed to enjoy their meaty, cheesy carbs. Our server was kind but probably a bit overwhelmed. He almost forgot to bring out my salad after everyone was served their meals, and at least one of our desserts was forgotten too. I would be a terrible server myself so this didn't bother me too much, although if you're paying $$$ you'd hope the service would be top notch. Parking can be busy on the street, so snag a spot at the park and try not to get caught. read more

My friends were definitely eating from my plate. They ordered the rigatoni and fettuccine. It started out good, but it became dry in the end. However, the management thanked us for letting them know and took the dish out of our bill. But they didn't stop there. They spoiled us with desserts. Yes.... Multiple desserts. Carmine's is one of my new restaurant finds! I love the atmosphere. It's a romantic cozy place with its chandeliers, candles and fresh rose at the table. The hostesses were very welcoming and sweet. Can't forget to mention how friendly our waiter was. Although our table was in between two tables at the back east wing, it was still a comfy spot with the half booth option. The waiter brought us a basket of bread and butter. We started off with a glass of champagne followed by calamari for our shared appetizer. The waiter evenly divided our appetizer into 3 on our plates. He did the same to the tables next to us and their appetizers too. After finishing the appetizers, another gentleman would collect our small plates and utensils. Entrees will then be ordered. My friend and I ordered the same thing: Squid Ink Cappelini de Mare and the birthday girl had the Clam Linguine I think it was Linguine Vongole (third on the pasta section). Our entrees were delicious! I would recommend the small size if you like a lighter controlled portion. At first I thought it was way too small but it was exactly 1 serving size compared to the large $7 more. The squid ink was delicious. The seafood was fresh: it included clams, mussels, shrimp and squid. We ordered the tiramisu dessert which was set on a plate that had happy birthday written in chocolate. The tiramisu was divine! Such a great ambience! The wait staff was so attentive and accommodating. I never felt rushed. Oh my goodness i've never wanted to write a review faster than this one! I came here for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend and WOW are we BLOWN away! They had a hand written card that said Happy Birthday and seated us at the perfect spot in all of the restaurant! Our server came by very often and checked in with us every step. We had probably the BEST dinner in a while with a steak cooked ever so perfectly to Rare and our pasta more homemade than you can imagine, WOW! We had the bruchshetta as an app to start and paired it with a wine from their huge wine list you can choose from! From 30 to thousands of dollars for a bottle, a great place to celebrate, enjoy an occasion, or have a fancy meal! I'm working my way through their menu, we're just making an effort to go when it's not so crowded/loud. This is the sister restaurant of Il Terrazzo Carmine that's has been a favorite in Seattle for years. This spot is just as special in Old Bellevue right by the park. It's has a beautiful patio & large indoor seating as well as a cozy bar. We wanted to take my mom somewhere special for lunch & Carmines was just the spot. We decided to sit in the bar as the patio was a wait. Juan Carlos promptly came to greet us & take our order so we decided to get a nice bottle of Rombauer Chardonnay to sip on while we decided on our food. Juan Carlos brought out fresh complimentary bread & butter with our wine. We decided to get the La Caprese as an appetizer & it was so delicious with heirloom tomatoes. Then my mom got the Rigatoni Bolognese- so amazing with homemade pasta, my husband got the Caesar salad with grilled chicken- his favorite with homemade croutons & lots of chicken & I got the Ravioli De Capriolo which was so amazing with a veal Demi sauce. Calamari, fresh, not fried. Delicious with a slight kick. Fettucine was so tasty and hot in my mouth. I wanted to eat the whole dish but I had to really control myself because that is way too much carb. But boy was it seriously tasty with the perfect texture and creamy pesto and perfectly cooked prawns. Pork chop was juicy and very tasty with the apple chutney. I regret no choice tonight! read more

I would say I'm a regular here, I come at least twice or three times a month, and I was pretty disappointed in my experience today. The server was great and the manager was really nice, but somehow having one undercooked Rigatoni and one gnocchi dish that was more spreadable that warm butter in the same meal was an absolute surprise. Even showed the server and he agreed. I understand a birthday doesn't necessarily mean 2x as good as service, but I do expect equal throughout the meal. The most annoying part was they gave us two desserts to take home. How awesome! But you literally gave us a completely wrong dessert and one with smooshed fruit? Really? Not coming here anymore, check in Seattle if you want better Italian. I bet management has changed because I don't know what happened with the kitchen staff. Carmine's is pretty damn good. We dined here recently to celebrate a birthday and everything from the food, service, and atmosphere was top notch. The restaurant is located right across the street from the Downtown Bellevue Park and every table was full on the Friday night we visited. The place was quite noisy, so we asked for a table in the small back room, where we had a nice view of the restaurant and open kitchen. Our server was great, gave us a rundown of all the specials, and got straight to work on our order. We started with some fresh baked bread and butter, along with the calamari affogati, which was a nice portion of tender squid sauteed with garlic, tomatoes, capers, and olives. Flavor was nice, but we found it a bit under-seasoned. The osso bucco was definitely the star of the night. Tender veal shank braised in wine, and accompanied by fresh tagliatelle and brussels sprouts. We also had the veal scaloppine, which was prepared perfectly with a light, delicate sauce. It arrived with a side of risotto and the same brussels sprouts. We ended the night with a slice of tiramisu, which was light, fluffy, and soaked with just the right amount of liqueur. Overall, we had a great dining experience and thought this was the perfect place for a date night or celebration. Already making a mental note to come back for the pasta! read more

After visiting Carmines in Downtown Bellevue again for my birthday I can say that it is truly one of the best dining experiences in the Seattle area. The service is always friendly and welcoming, professional but not pretentious. They always greet with a smile and take your coats to hold while you dine. The servers think of every detail, are very knowledgeable, and truly want you to enjoy your experience. Their food is incredible. I always get the fennel sausage pasta with a vodka cream sauce, I have a hard time ordering anything else! I started with the charred romaine salad which is also very tasty. The crispy pancetta on top is a nice touch. My husband tried the crab risotto special and I don't think I've ever seen him enjoy and savor any other food ever! This was the best meal I've had, possibly ever. We got two of the daily specials: sea bass with pasta (tagliatelle?), and steak risotto with mushrooms and Gorgonzola. What stood out was the incredible flavor of the food, without being too salty. The sea bass was flaky and melt-in-your-mouth fresh. The risotto was great as well- tender steak bites and earthy mushrooms. It was filling, my boyfriend couldn't finish more than 2/3 of the full order. For drinks, I got the love potion (valentines day special with orange and vueve clicquot). It was light, sweet, and delicious. They also brought out a little box of laduree macaroons to start, which was a pleasant surprise. My one critique is that I wish they asked before switching our bread basket. We were done with bread and the new basket sat completely untouched. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Shoutout to our waiter, Ian, who brought a whimsical tone to the night. I don't often repeat restaurants because there are so many great options but I would be excited to come back to Carmine's! read more

Carmine's is a gem near downtown Bellevue. It is a place to enjoy a nice Italian meal with wine where you slow your pace down to enjoy the food, libations, your company and ambience. I had a seafood pasta dish (I forget what it was called because as soon as I took my first bite, I just enjoyed the flavors of the dish). The Belle Glos Pinot was an excellent pairing with this. The bread is amazing crusty outside soft inside ciabatta from Central Market Seattle (per bus boy). I got the cioppino northwest, which was piping out with yummy seafood tomato broth. The gulf shrimp were huge and white fish buttery. Husband got the white clams linguini, which was delicious, wish it had more pasta, but we asked for 2nds on bread to sop up the yummy sauce. Rigatoni Bolognese is classic and nothing to rave or complain about, I would order it again as comfort food. The insalata di mista was seriously just greens, no tomatoes, cucumbers or additions. They will substitute the dressing to a lemon vinaigrette which was solid. Service- very good!! Attentive servers who I feel like are real Italian. Server kindly split out salad order and kids order to 2 plates. Ambiance- I categorize as upscale rustic Italian, with the chandeliers, white table cloth, exposed beam ceilings. The first time I went several years ago, the acoustics were so bad in the area I sat, we couldn't hear each other talk. So we didn't enjoy our food. This time, we went on a Monday and it was quieter. Service - 4/5. Our server was great, but the entrees took forever. And the restaurant was only half full. Ambiance - 5/5. Pretty outdoors leading into the restaurant. 1) prosciutto w/melon - 4/5. Melon could've been more ripe, but prosciutto was good and not too salty. 2) misto salad - 3/5. Nothing special. 3) linguine vongole- 4/5. Was surprised it was a red sauce, but it was good.
