Dined at Carmines with two other couples. I give three stars because everyone else seemed satisfied with their meals. Not me. I had the Pasta el Forno. What a disaster of a dish. Mediocre meat sauce seemingly whipped into mozzarella cheese to produce a gummy, unappealing congealed mess, and mixed with Penne pasta. This is undoubtedly the worst "baked" pasta dish I have ever had and one of the worst meals I have had on Kent Island. It was just mush. I only ate about half, not saying anything because our friends like Carmines and go there often. So, said I was full, put the other half in a box, then took it home and threw it away. A solid four star. I don't get the bad reviews. All of the staff were incredibly nice and friendly. The portions were huge and to go boxes and containers were stacked up in the dining room. This place was amazing. We stopped for a quick lunch on the way back from Christmas shopping. He wanted pizza and I've passed Carmine's a dozen times and just never stopped. He got the lunch combo. It consisted of a slice and side salad. I got the chicken Parmesan sandwich. Food came out quick. They definitely had a serious lunch rush going, but the wait wasn't bad at all. He's a native New Yorker and said this was the best pizza he's had down here and that it really reminded him of what he got back home. Sadly, my sandwich was not good. The chicken was left in the fryer too long and was burned. The bitter taste took over the entire sandwich. I talked to the manager and he immediately made it right. He offered to make me another sandwich, I opted for two slices of pizza instead. Great choice. The fact that the manger didn't put up a fight and immediately fixed the problem earned my loyalty. Stopped in a road trip. Just happened across it. They have a very good menu. We chose from the 5 dinner/daily specials. #4 Gnocchi with fresh mushrooms & pancetta- oh my, perfection. Deliciousness! My husband had the sausage with peppers, onions and shaved Parmesan over penne. Sausage had great spice. 5 Star meal, well priced. Family friendly. They have subs, hot and cold, salads, entrees, and pizza pie or just a slice. There is a specials menu for lunch when you walk in and their prices are very reasonable. I got the Garlic Knots and Italian Sub (heated just a little). The italian sauce they use on the sub is devine. We had a dinner party for friends last weekend. My wife didn't feel like cooking so she ordered from Carmines, and it was DELICIOUS!! We got chicken parmigiana which was fresh and excellently prepared. BETTER THAN HOME MADE! There was more than enough food! We grabbed a bite to eat here recently and it was a good decision! They have delicious wraps and french fries. I liked the variety of the menu and how customizable items were. I had the Greek Chicken wrap and would get it again. Getting to this restaurant is a little tricky if you aren't on the main road nearby, but once you're here, it's worth it. Got here at at 11 as soon as the restaurant opened on a Sunday. The door was locked so we had to wait for them to open it. As soon as we got inside tho, we were served at the counter for take out. The lunch special was available on a Saturday which was a good deal, considering most places only honor lunch M-F. It was 1 New york slice pizza (any kind), a salad and large fountain soda. They also had beer. I only had 1/2 slice of pizza but i ate the whole salad. It came with a house sauce i guess, which was good! I just came from carmines pizza and was totally shocked. I went in, asked for slices and 2 full dinners and the man behind the counter (who I have never seen before and represented himself as the manager) told me I could not get sausage on the slice of pizza I was taking. BTW, twice a week we go in and get that with no problem and pay for it. He argued with me for 5 minutes that he would not put sausage on a slice that was made. He was rude and arrogant and I can't quite believe anyone would have him as a manager. i have only had pleasant experiences in there with other employees and he was awful. I am in service and if I had done that, the way he was so rude and unaccomodating, I would be fired. I plan on calling the store and talking to whoever is in charge to let them know. There are plenty of pizza places around and if a few pieces of sausage i paying $2.00 extra for is worth losing a customer, then that's pretty poor practice. He should not be waiting on customers. Sad because food is really good and all the other people I have dealt with are nice. read more

We were at the Holiday Inn Express and ordered from here. The two dishes that were ordered were decent and nobody complained. I ordered a sub, which was huge. The problem was that I got a 10" sub that had two layers of thin meat and cheese and the rest was all lettuce, tomatoes and so much onion. Perfectly seasoned, Usually I get Bella's or Boli's this is definitely better than those options. I've gone to Carmines Pizza on Kent Island with my wife on several occasions and everything was fine. Recently we went and to our horrid surprise I found a long piece of hair in our pizza. I literally pulled a long piece of hair out of my mouth. It was very stomach churning to say the least. We reported it to the the manager and his response was it was not his people so do you want another pizza ? Our response was no we don't want another pizza nor are we asking for a refund. We left 3 slices and the box on the table. Just wear hairnets! Fast forward to March 27th(We hadn't been there since that 1st hair incident). I ordered 1 cheesesteak, 1 Greek Salad and 6 Garlic Knots. When my wife took a bite of her cheesesteak at home she pulled out a long piece of hair. We both said not again! We both should have been highly hot and upset. We were but not boiling. We called and told the supervisor about it and again his response was that it could never be his people. Well if you're not wearing hairnets this is going to happen. We did not ask for anything free nor did we ask for a refund. All we requested was, 'wear a hairnet!!! He was so rude, disrespectful and unapologetic. His cashier/server is just as rude, she really is but that's a whole different complaint. Obviously we must have liked the establishment to go back after the first hair incident but this is unacceptable ,inexcusable and very unprofessional. The Health Department should be made aware of this. They all should wear hairnets!!!! read more

We explained we would only need pizza, and would eat quickly to accommodate. The woman at the register was unbelievably RUDE. We asked to speak to the owner because we were in shock at her hostility. We were told the owner wasn't there. We also asked if we could order it to-go instead, as there were over 8 employees standing idly waiting to have something to do. The woman insisted we could not place an order. The rest of the staff didn't seem to understand English and were depending on the one woman to talk to us. Great place to get good Italian food at reasonable prices. Pizza can be made to order, we like our crust thin and with a good crust as we request. The flavor is yummy. You can tell they use top notch ingredients. They have the best chicken Cesar salad, it's loaded with chicken and lettuce is fresh and crisp. The pasta dishes will not disappoint. Meatballs are not tough, but moist and flavorful. Definitely worth a visit if you are driving through Kent Island on the way to the ocean. We are Kent Islanders and eat here quite often.
