Stopped in for dinner and wow! It was good. What a nice surprise. My spaghetti with meatballs ROCKED! I have no clue what meat was used for the meatballs , it was delicious though. My second order. First time was carry out my second was inside dining. The pizza was nothing to write home about. By the time it got to the table it was already cold. The place was clean but was cold. We inquired about it and we told the owner had the keys and he was in Italy. Said it was 68 degrees. Us and other diners had their jackets on while dining. Just received their 16" three combination pizza I chose meatballs, pepperoni and mushrooms. As soon as I picked the box up I knew I had a great value! This is the heaviest pizza I've ever ordered. Thick meatballs gave it more weight plenty of cheese also added to the weight Taste is great. Bella Italia is a wonderful little spot in West Annapolis. i have only gotten takeout here and the pickup process is always fast. We order the family style dinners which are a lot of bang for your buck. The Penne ala Vodka is my favorite. It's so tasty and heats up well the next day. The accompanying salad is enjoyable even for non-salad eaters. They have a homemade dressing that everyone seems to love and they put hot peppers and olives on the salad which is an added bonus. This is a 'just OK' sort of place. Definitely feels like your neighborhood family-style pizza joint--lots of character, but the quality of the pizza itself was rather 'meh,' for lack of a better word. I loved that they sell many types of pizza by the slice (though the meat on most of them is just bacon; others have pepperoni--I didn't see any chicken, sausage, or meatballs). I honestly really love this place. I have ordered from here for the past 3 years and they have never let me down. I usually get the Penne alla vodka but this time I decided to go out of my comfort zone. I tried the Penne Arrabbiata and it was super good. The tomato sauce and the meat was the perfect amount topped with the right amount of cheese on it but also a good amount of cheese inside. It was amazing. The penne alla vodka is also just amazing. It has mushrooms, ham, and spinach with a rose sauce. I think the rose sauce really hits home for me. The pastas also come with a piece of bread!! read more

This place used to be a pretty good neighborhood family Italian restaurant/pizzeria when it first opened. Unfortunately, it has steadily gone downhill ever since. Went in with my wife early this evening for a quick bite. We were the only eat-in customers in the place, although a few takeout pickups occurred while we were there. After some discussion between us at the counter, my wife ordered chicken parmesan for herself and a calzone for me. I'm hard-of-hearing, but I distinctly heard her place that order. We took seats, and her chicken parmesan came out quite quickly. She was hesitant to start eating as I hadn't been served, but I told her to go ahead so that it wouldn't get cold, and that my calzone might take a bit longer to bake through. She invited me to taste her sauce, and we both agreed that it was incredibly bland -- tasting just like unspiced tomato sauce right from the can. After a full 15 minutes, during which my wife finished her meal, we inquired about the calzone. The response was "What calzone?," claiming we had never ordered a calzone. Apparently unconcerned that my wife had already finished her bland parm, they had the nerve to suggest that they could start a calzone for me. So... we went in there for a nice dinner for two, and I sat there twiddling my thumbs while my wife ate her unsatisfying meal. That's it... they've hit rock bottom. We won't be back. read more

i happen to be in the area, stopped in for a slice or 2 to go. I ended up taking 5 slices to take home. the pizza slices were good, the service on the other hand was subpar. the slices were handed to me in a pizza box, when i got to the car i checked the box and the slices had been just tossed into the box and piled up in 1 corner. as if the box had carried vertically. I'm always intrigued - and wary - when reviews are literally all over the place. However, the family had arrived at the Annapolis MWR Campground (see my review) with just enough time to set up camp before the grandkids got hangry. So instead of cooking, we piled into the SUV and headed into town for food. DD picked this place as the first one with pizza that we'd come to, and we crossed our fingers and went in. I can see why people get a bit flustered over ordering. There's a window where you can look in at different types of (huge) pizzas, and order by the slice. This seems to be the speediest way to get food, as you just move along the window and pay at the end of it. To be honest, I had to go outside with DGS because he was losing it, so I didn't experience the rest of the ordering process. When we came back inside, DGD and my SIL had giant slices in front of them, and there was a number card on the edge of the table. Soon after I sat down, a waitress brought my grilled chicken salad, and only a few moments later she brought DGD's bowl of creamy tomato soup and DD's slice of Silician pizza. Let me just say, all of us soup lovers fell in love with that soup: SIL because it was SO creamy, DD and I because of the tortellini in it, DGD because ... well, she's 7 and has unusual tastes, so just the tomatoeyness of it is what she loved. My salad was unremarkable, although tasty. I was a bit surprised that it appeared to be an entire, small chicken breast, and was cooked perfectly. The greens weren't exciting at all because it was red leaf and romaine, so a bit limp. The balsamic vinaigrette was piquant, so all in all it was a perfectly acceptable salad. DD pronounced her Sicilian pizza slice delicious, and the bite I had was definitely full of ooey, gooey cheese! I didn't taste DGD's plain cheese pizza or SIL's slice with sausage, but he said it was OK. I think the only fountain drink was DGD's lemonade. My SIL said he was very pleased at the prices, because for this family of five to get out for just under $40 is pretty amazing. Maybe we just hit on a good day, but I can give this place a solid 3 stars with no hesitation. read more

Always nice to find a local place that makes good food and represents the "local" scene. These guys make no frills, down home Italian food at reasonable prices and awesome portion sizes. Tonight I opted for the Veal Parmigiana. First, the veal was perfectly tenderized and breaded. This is fresh crispy prepared veal at its best. The spaghetti although is just plain noodles and tomato sauce but was still delicious and was cooked perfectly. The tomato sauce reminds me of my time in Sicily, it is very clean and fresh with just the right amount of herbs and spices. Be prepared to wait 10-15 minutes for your meal to arrive, but it is so worth it. This is a small Annapolis rare find, grab a menu and take it home with you so that you can call your order in for take out. I simplest love these guys because the food is alway right on. You can count on great pizza either as a whole pie or by the slice that always tastes exactly the same....perfect. read more

I've been coming here for years since they opened. It's always been a really good local pizza place. The steak and cheese is among the best in town. When the pizzas fresh it's pretty darn good. The problem is that over the years the staff there has gotten progressively ruder and borderline mean. I'm very hesitant to write a bad review but it's just gotten ridiculous. I understand the current state of the world and the service industry but I don't think any of the people in there could care less if the place burned down. Bella Italia in Annapolis, right off of Rowe Blvd. near Navy Stadium tries to buck that stereotype. They have a diverse menu with an array of options, but honestly I didn't try any of it. Why? Because this bad boy above had me as soon as I walked through the door. It was their Sicilian pizza and I was drawn in immediately. Being a sheltered kid whose cultural culinary exploits as a kid was really limited to Middle Eastern food, I've always assumed pizza kind falls into the various categories we've come to find it here. I know pizza in Italy can vary  greatly from what we get here, but I wasn't expecting this. Now, I'm no expert on authentic Italian pizza, so I can't verify if this is actually a Sicilian style pizza, but our friends on the internet seem to confirm that it's something similar to this. I don't really care, this thing was unreal. It's a thick layer of crust that resembles a focaccia then it's filled with an array of cheeses and hard meats. It's then topped with another crust on top that is thin yet crispy. This was literally perfection on a plate, it's not for those of you on a diet, but if you can afford the calories do yourself a favor and try this. The cheesy is a creamy combination of Italian cheeses, it combines with the crispy crust to make an almost giant size Italian toasted cheese sandwich. You need a knife and a fork to eat this thing, don't even attempt to use your hands. But when you break into it with your fork, you see the cheese ooze out and you're left with a perfect cheesy bite with just enough pepperoni dispersed throughout. The sauce on the side is a simple marinara sauce, it's nothing special but it does the job. The rest of the food here looked good, they have fresh salads and seem to use quality ingredients in the other dishes they make there. This is one of the tastiest things I've ever eaten. If you find yourself in this area, take a quick trip to Bella Italia, you won't regret it. read more

When you come walking in, the restaurant doesn't look like much, but the pizza is worth it. Upon walking in, you'll notice you can order pizza by the slice. They have several types by the slice and the prices are reasonable for the size of slice that you get. The service is standard for a pizza place, so don't expect the best of the best for service. Traffic to Bay Bridge is horrible so stopped here. It's on the other side of Taylor from the Navy Football stadium. Signage is hard to see, but worth the look! You order when you come in so grab the menu. We got the Linquine Mussels with white sauce but you can get red. Bread with it was also delicious. My wife had her first Perino. Bella Italia has plenty of parking. Place your order at the register then find a seat. Server will bring your order to you. Free refills at the soft drink machine. I personally love the flavor of their pizza sauce and cheese. Reminds me of NYC pizza. Quality ingredients. Real pizza ovens not a conveyor belt oven like a lot of places.
