Had one day to take my daughter to New York City where I lived during Grad School. This was my favorite pizza place and right by the subway station where I lived. Neighborhood is even more gentrified. Not surprising and I was apart of the beginning of that process. Sorry Brooklyn. But I was happy to see Carmines was still there! Had a remodel but basically the same. I had a slice of Margherita, always my favorite when it's real pizza. My daughter got a cheese slice. Best pizza she had in her life she said. Granted we live on the West Coast and even wood fire authentic pizza just is no comparison to NYC. But still the sauce is so amazing here. The crust is perfect. Just the best! After finding a million pizza places on yelp & online in general in Brooklyn, I narrowed it down to Carmine's because it was close to our Air B&B and it had good reviews. Plus Carmine sounds like an authentic NY name right?? Wow!!! So glad we chose this place. We ordered The Joe D & Quattro Stagioni, both wood fire pizza. I also ordered a Peroni beer on tap. All of it was absolutely heavenly. The beer was large and ice cold for only $7 in a nice Peroni glass too. I loved both pizzas equally. Full of fresh veggies, thin crust, amazing flavor..just so delicious. Prices are extremely reasonable for the high quality and staff was excellent. Will definitely be going back!! Surprisingly, there werent that many Italian restaurants in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. The one we wanted to go to was closed on Monday and Tuesday. So we opted for Carmine's. And we made the right decision. Not only do they have a pizza joint, they also have a sit down area with full table service where you can not only get pizza, but also italian favorites. I got the ravioli and veal parm, with a side of garlic bread. Everything was pretty good. The veal could have been a little more tender. But the flavors were there. The garlic bread was yummy. I also ordered a tiramisu, to go. Unfortunately, I forgot it when I left the restaurant. BUT, since I was staying only a few blocks away, I walked back to the restaurant and got it. I can't give a review on it, as I have not consumed it yet. Service was great. Glad we made the right choice on where to go. read more

Wow. Talk about a good slice. This isn't typical New York pizza it's Carmine's. Dudes that work the counter for slices sweating all day are the absolute best. Since I'm not a tourist I want my slice hot. They remember me and always get it right. And if there's someone who doesn't remember another guy reminds him. That's the way a business should be. Do those guys a favor...I know you starving and you think your gonna die and your surrounded by pizza and your parents never taught you to wait for anything.......CHILL The pizza professionals are making it happen. Since we are talking about customers (this is a very sensitive subject) their local customers dining in the patio are awful trump type racists who are being pushed out of the hood. I get it... it stings. Garbage gets kicked to the curb sooner or later and the writing is on the wall for these type of people. All I'm saying is beware. Arrived August 14th around 9 pm. It was recommended by a coworker so we both met there and I tried it. We sat right by the bar and was approached by this hispanic male with a blue shirt (never recalled his name). I asked the waiter if we could split the bill between me and my coworker, and it was all downhill from there. The waiter looked at me like I had 2 heads. I clearly wasn't on a date, which is why I wanted separate checks. I ordered a Pepsi, and the waiter came back with a diet Pepsi. I was trying to tell the waiter that it was my first time there, and the waiter walked away in the middle of my sentence. Was he upset? You be the judge. I ordered the Cacio Pepe dish, and it was supposed to be full of cheese and flavor, but it was stale. I should've ordered the pizza instead, which is what they were known for. In the end, I tipped the waiter an 18% tip because he might've been having a bad day. Even still, that's no excuse. You have to at least pretend to be nice to the customer. Out of courtesy to the waiter, I finally finished my sentence and told him that it was my first time there and I was unaware of the paying arrangement. It's not like it's written on the menu. He didn't smile in the beginning, and he didn't smile that time either or said not to worry about it. He was just plain mean with poor customer service skills. Anyway, the owner of this place needs to be more selective in the hiring process. I would give each new hire a 1 year probation before deciding whether or not they get fired. But that's just me. My boyfriend asked for 2 simple beers at the bar and when I arrived, I asked for a whiskey sour, I waited 10 minutes to get my whiskey sour and I then got a simple whiskey soda up!! Incredible, I got something that I never asked for! When I told the manager because of the female bartender was ignoring us and she knew about my upset because of my face (I can't hide it), she said: I know where you're coming from and I understand but I don't have any eggs for the whiskey sour. Sooooo, if you know that and you're working on service, you should be more patient with no Americans and you should tell about "I don't have any eggs for the whiskey sour", (which business doesn't have any eggs when they have a kitchen?) you got it? It's logical at least ask one time in the day an one person that looks like NOT American and that person can be a tourist or not the industry, but I work in the industry and I need to ask if the person is ok without one ingredient in the drink, I need to CHECK, and the whiskey sour is NOT a fine drink (like she expressed to me), it's a classic cocktail in the city instead! By the way, the manager never supported us too, he allowed that she treated me in a bad way and finally, she said: "don't come back". Beautiful! I'm pretty sure I won't come back. Thank you! Carmine's won my heart. From the minute we walk in and all the attention we received it was a sincerely a great experience. They accommodated us when we preferred to sit towards the back of the new addition, which btw was perfectly laid out. We had a great view of any of their many tv's from our table and the draft was on.. big PLUS!! Bar was fully stocked and inviting, seriously if I wasn't there for a celebration I would have just found my new spot. We didn't have just one server, but all employees that walked by, checked up on us. The only way I can explain it, they made us feel like part of their family instantly. All hands were on deck, I haven't seen or felt like this in years. Loved it!! They were on point, our drinks and water were being replenished, table cleaned, napkins handed out, some small talk, and they were smiling. We sat and immediately got water and complimentary crispy bread with butter and I loved their bruschetta it was tasty. We ordered mussels with white wine sauce that was fresh and delicious, calamari was perfectly fried and super tender inside, and baked clams were good. I received my deliciously executed eggplant flatbread. Yes, I must attempt I'm a big sucker for flatbread. I started clapping when my plate was set in front of me. I didn't realize how excited I got mind you I was only drinking ginger ale. Most of my family order the penne vodka with chicken. They loved it. My son finished his entire bowl!!! I thought he was going to lick it. I tried it and they were right very creamy, rich, and filling.. Yum!! All in all my family and I wished everyone a good night and thank them for their group effort. This establishment in Brooklyn has two connected rooms, with one room offering wait service and a menu of wood fired pizzas and pastas, with the other room offering pizza by the slice from a standard pizza oven. I had quite a feast for lunch yesterday. Ate some thin crusted and delicious pizza made in the brick oven. I think it was called the New York Pie but I'm not sure. It was tomato and mozzarella and it was really good. I haven't' enjoyed a slice like that in a long time. I started off with a Caesar Salad. It was the creamy variety of the Caesar dressing and this one tasted good. My guess is that's it's homemade since it was far superior to other creamy Caesars I have had in the past. I'm not usually a fan of the creamy Caesar but this one was excellent. I also shared an order of Calamari Diablo and it really knocked my socks off. I am still thinking about that dish. Finally an espresso, I mean a really strong one. Loved it. Great service. I think our server's name was Danielle. Even Carmine dropped by to say hello. Sorry I forgot to take a selfie. The entire meal was a home run which brings me to my next point. If you are a baseball fan you are going to love the sports bar side of the place decorated in all kinds of baseball art and memorabilia---mostly Yankee stuff. Best local spot in the area for really great food at really good prices. Highly recommend the spicy calamari!!! The staff are super attentive and hard working. It's cool because they have the pizza side and then the front of the restaurant is like a sports bar vibe and the back is more classic Italian style. This pizzeria is right off the Graham avenue station, so it's super convenient to grab a bite on my way home. I've been coming here for months now, and I've almost never been let down. I've tried a few of their specials like the margherita, chicken and broccoli, and BBQ chicken, but honestly even the plain cheese slices are super satisfying it's also super cool that it's attached to a sports bar! Coming back to Williamsburg meant only one thing, I need to have the best pizza Brooklyn had to offer, and that was Carmine's Pizza! After so many years Carmine's is still making quality pizza, hugh slices, the sauce is delicious and just the right amount of cheese. The pizza is a bit on the oilly side, but not a big deal if you fold it, the way a Brooklyn style pizza is supposed to be eaten. This is one of those pizza you'll enjoy more by not adding parmesan or chili flakes because it's good pizza. read more

Hubby and I ordered a Grandma pie with pepperoni and sausage, plus individual orders of baked clams. Everything was absolutely delicious. I would have liked my clams baked a bit more but flavor wise they were absolutely fresh and delicious. My pie, ooouuiiii I can just taste the pie as I write this, not only was it delicious the moment we received it at our table, it was even better the next day. We ordered from here last night for game night -- wings, New Yorker pizza, and baked ziti. The wings were okay, the best of everything ordered... but they put carrots and celery on top of the wings which left them withered by the time I received the food. As for the pizza and pasta--incredibly bland. It's like having food in your mouth but tasting nothing. No garlic, no onion, no herbs or spices, not even salt. Just tomato and cheese. I'm not sure how you run a pizza spot and expect people to pay for this. The good thing I will say is they were quick with getting my order out in time for delivery, which has been rare these days.
