Carmine's never disappoints and our latest visit to St. Louis was no exception. My wife and I absolutely love the atmosphere, the food and Kevin is beyond exceptional. I had the filet gorgonzola, medium rare. Quite possibly the best steak I have ever eaten. The steak was cooked to perfection. We always have the mushroom risotto and it was excellent, as usual. My wife had the filet Michael; again, perfectly prepared. For cocktails, she chose the Sicilian spiked lemonade while I went with the dark cherry old fashioned with Buffalo Trace. Both drinks were on point. We will always ask for Kevin as he provides exemplary service and great conversation. We will continue to patronize Carmine's every time we are in the area. Very good food and service close to the St. Louis landmark and 7 minutes from the ballpark. The shrimp, steak and appetizers are all really good. The atmosphere is dark and traditional. Very old furniture and everything is brown, mahogany, 19th century art and big party rooms for birthdays and corporate events. I would come again for the service and food. Carmine's was attached to our hotel and was an easy go to the first night of our arrival. I opted for the chicken gorgonzola and a baked potato and my daughter had the burger and steak fries. It was valentine's weekend and the bartender was busy making all sorts of lovely looking cocktails. Ambience in the bar area was very pretty. Food was great in to go format as well. We chose this spot for a sit-down dinner during our trip to St Louis. I had high hopes for this restaurant attached to the Drury Inn, but it was a letdown. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty with only three tables occupied, we were seated in an awkward corner right by the kitchen entrance.. Although the menu at the door advertised burgers--which is what we wanted--that menu was never offered to us once we sat down. We opted for the 30-day aged steak, but it was subpar, as were the other dishes. To make matters worse, my wine pour was less than a quarter-full, while I noticed other tables receiving significantly larger pours. Went here to celebrate an 80th birthday. Staff was super friendly, it was nice and quiet which made it easy to talk, and service was great. We had toasted ravioli and candied scallops for an appetizer. Both were very good! Had a variation of steaks, all cooked perfectly well and delicious. Overall, a great experience! The steak was phenomenal, the loaded baked potato was the best I have ever and I'll admit the drinks were fantastic. I'd definitely visit this place again when I am in the St. Louis area and recommend you do the same. We were provided a dinner at Carmine's from the contest I won and reservations were made for us on a Thursday evening at 8pm. Charles was our server. The restaurant is attached to the hotel we were staying at so it was really convenient. Upon arriving, we were greeted at the front and we informed them of our reservation. We were led right away to our table. The restaurant was busy for a weeknight. There were probably 10 tables with people at least. Once Charles greeted us, we ordered some cocktails to get started while we reviewed the menu. Our cocktails arrived and we decided to sip for a little before ordering. Hubs ordered the toasted ravioli for his appetizer and he was especially excited because he prefers meat over cheese ravioli. I was not a fan of it, as you can see from my picture. I ordered the wedge for my appetizer. Holy crap, I was getting so full off of that alone! For dinner, I ordered the surf and turf, along with additional prawns. Hubs ordered just a steak. We ordered corn and a twice baked potato as sides. We went way overboard. Everything tasted good but not out of this world amazing. We finished with some espresso and cake. Again, very good but we overdid it. The service was great. The ambiance was great. The check was over $300, which we did not think was going to be that high. First off, this place might have one of the better martinis I've had, and the stuffed olives were amazing! Lobster bites appetizer was very unique and tasty. What a fantastic nightcap! After a long day at the Gateway Arch or a night at Busch Stadium, this is the place to unwind. I stopped by after a Cardinals game expecting them to be closed, but to my surprise, they were keeping open past posted hours to entertain the Cardinals fans. The restaurant is beautiful and inviting. The service was attentive and loving, and the drinks and dessert had me wondering how good of a meal I had missed since I didn't come by for dinner earlier in the evening! After a long drive yesterday we stayed in a hotel next to this Steakhouse. As we were checking the outside menu, Michael from inside popped out to see if we were coming in. We had our little dog with us so we told him we'd have to put him up and return shortly. OH NO..... Michael said he could come in and have a seat with us. Well of course we went in.... We were greeted again by the bartender Adam who served us a beer, then gave us the specials of the day and a menu. Bethany came over to see if our dog, Scout would like some water. Based on our service alone, no food served yet, this place deserves a 10 star review and 5 bones . We sat in the bar area but there is a large dining room which is beautiful and great for special occasions or date night. On to dinner. We ordered a ribeye, which was perfectly cooked and accompanied by a twice baked potato. We got bernaise sauce and a couple others, YUMMY! I got a salad and sautéed spinach also delicious and hit the spot. Our most unique dish was the appetizer with bacon and jalapeño cake thing. Made a bar room seating reservation for two at 7pm on a Monday. This not part of the Carmines Family Style chain but rather a family owned restaurant. We arrived early and met the bartender Jess, who was very friendly, outgoing and really knew how to make an outstanding martini. We then asked to change our seating to inside at one of thr round tables with a half moon booth and they were very accommodating. Steven our waiter took great care of us, topping off our wine and making some great recommendations. We dined on filet mignon, baked potato and chicken breast with risotto. Wow! Great service and fantastic food - we loved the jumbo shrimp with sweet chili sauce, really fresh and flavorful. The toasted ravioli was good?? But had like a meatball inside, not your normal toasted rav but still good. The strip steak nachos were delicious, just felt like a random addition on the otherwise elevated menu. I had the Sea Bass - Fish Special, it had a delicious sauce and beautiful mushrooms and sat on a bed of wilted spinach. It came with a side of mushroom risotto, which was HUGE! And tasty :) Many others got steaks - which all looked great and they also have lobster tails. This was an unexpected surprise. On a whim we decided to grab some appetizers, drinks and dessert. This place definitely has a beautiful setting and the servers are impeccable. From the host, to our waiter and the bus servers, everyone was lovely. For our appetizers we got the shrimp cocktail and the fried raviolis. The shrimp were HUGE and tasted so fresh. The fried raviolis were tasty and the sauce was delicious. For drinks I enjoyed a Moscato and hubby has an old fashioned which apparently had a lot of different ones to choose from but he went with a basic standard version. The service was impeccable - our server was an older lady, whose name is escaping me, but she was attentive, friendly, and fantastic at every turn. The food was delicious and the drinks were strong/good - and, the restaurant was fairly close to our hotel. For 8PM dinner on a Saturday, we were one of the three tables sat. Bartender didn't know what a Paloma was, and it was so quiet I could hear the entire conversation - and the food was one of the worst meals I've ever had. Our waiter was so kind, we didn't want to make his life harder than having one table on a Saturday night. $70 steak was flavorless, $50 lamb was smothered with a canned -tasting cherry sauce, and the mushroom risotto was so thick you could turn the plate upside down and it wouldn't move. Amazing steaks, really recommend trying those first and then working your way to the other good dishes (they have specials such as Chilean sea bass and chicken dishes in the regular menu). If you can save room for dessert you'll be in for a treat. But I can't say enough about the steaks. Personally like a steak without sauce and such but if I do want a dressed up steak I'd recommend the pepperloin (it's encrusted with pepper). They have valet and although the place was busy there was no wait. They check in your coat at the door and the staff is attentive. Be advised that the menu states they are not responsible for overcooked steak (something like that) with that said my steak was well done when I ordered medium so because of that I could not eat it. It's too dry for my taste. I also did not like the wine sauce it was a little spicy. I found the side options limiting as they offer a veggie or potato of the day which on the day I went was carrots. I love veggies as much as I love steak and the only veggie option was the carrots which was too sweet. There is also a strong cheese smell which if you love cheese you may not mind but for someone that does not love cheese you may not like the smell. I gave them a 3 because although none of us at the table loved the food perhaps if we had a regular filet or rib eye cooked at medium and not well done we would have a better experience, however we did not enjoy it enough to give it another try. read more

The place is very nice and our server Kevin was amazing, but we sat as a table of 9 it took almost an hour for our food to come out. Once the food did come out it was all lukewarm and some of the seafood that was ordered was raw. Multiple plates were sent back and all they did was take it and "warm it up." We ended up calling the manager and she seemed very apologetic and did attempt to make it right. All in all though our experience wasn't that great for an upscale restaurant it could've been a lot better. We had dinner here before a recent Cardinals game. It was a quintessential steakhouse dinner experience. The service by Charles and the other staff was first class. The food was excellent. I had the pepperloin with twice baked potato. The steak was one of the most tender and best tasting that I have eaten. The twice baked potato however may have been the star of the show.
