After two threatening phone calls I decided to post my review of a very weird encounter with the owner of this place. Plus the several emails insulting me personally for having commented to his receptionist on my way out of the experience there that "Although you were courteous and so was the rep, her boss was rude and gets a one-star review." She herself demonstrated being apprehensive of being admonished by him for having charged my cell phone. I would not mention these things had I not been harassed by him and then subsequently received a threatening letter from his lawyer (the same one that had sent to this other previous case). It warns me to "cease and desist". It's a bizarre twist of events being that I am the one being harassed. I will repost my full review once my lawyers and Yelp assess this matter. So, this spot would represent the text book definition of a scum bag car dealership or salesperson. Surprised they are still in business. If it were possible to give negative stars I would. Saying they are unprofessional would be putting it lightly. Long story short we purchased a used car. It had many issues. We argued for a long time trying to get refunded. Instead of taking them to court we opt for using their mechanic shop to resolve the issues with the car. Their shop did such a crappy job, it was just a waste of time taking it there. Asked my mechanic to look the car over. for him to do the repairs it was around $1500. My friend who's good with cars ended up helping me buy the parts we needed for $250-$300 and we resolved most of the major issues ourselves. Leaving out a bunch of stuff. Still worse car buying experience ever. No matter how good the deal seems its just not worth doing business with them. If they were giving the car away for $1 I'd still run the other way. read more

After it was sold they said it needed repairs that they could not provide any receipts for and they asked me for an additional $1500.00 out of my pocket. The vehicle had been sold at auto and I called dealers to look up my vin number and they said it had not been into any dealer to be looked at. I told the owner i wanted my vehicle back since they had not paid it off yet and the owner threated me with legal action and would not give my vehicle back, wouldn't pay it off, would show proof of any repairs. I had sold one vehicle to CarNation back in September of 2021. The experience was satisfactory and I felt comfortable selling them another vehicle. On June 13, 2022, I had spoken to Joe at which time I accurately described a vehicle and he gave me a preliminary buyout number subject to a successful Zoom Meeting/ Inspection scheduled for the morning of June 14, 2022. The Zoom Meeting/ Inspection took place at which time all angles of the interior and exterior were examined by Joe who is a principal of the company. The graphics of the vehicle were clearly visible during this inspection and reconfirmed the model of the vehicle that I had described to Joe upon our first meeting. After the inspection, Joe had confirmed that he would pay the preliminary price that he had offered during our initial phone conversation. He had stated that I would receive the paperwork within a few hours. Unfortunately, things deteriorated from there. I was contacted by Austin from CarNation who asked for copies of my driver's license as well as the VIN number of the vehicle. Austin then stated that the paperwork would be forwarded to me within a couple of hours. 24 hours later I still had not received any paperwork and I placed a call to CarNation to inquire as to the reason for the delay. I again spoke to Austin and he stated that I would receive the paperwork within the next hour. The paperwork never arrived and Austin and CarNation began ghosting me and ignoring my inquiries. A few hours later, Joe called me and stated that the vehicle he quoted a buyout price on was a different model then the actual vehicle that I own. This is an unacceptable response as he could clearly see the the graphics describing the exact model of the vehicle. No apologies were offered and Joe stated that he was still willing to buy the vehicle at a 25 percent reduction from his original offer. My recommendation is to avoid what appears to be an unethical and disingenuous company. Please read all of their negative reviews very closely. They're spot on! This outfit is the epitome of an unethical and predatory used car dealer. They will absolutely attempt to pull one over on you, usually after they've hooked you into believing that you've struck a 'fair deal' with them. Joseph (AKA Joe), the owner, has an unfounded arrogance and is constantly bragging about his 'deep pockets'. He will lie hand over fist and attempt to play mind games with you right down to the very end. He also threatens legal action if you leave a negative review. Joey, I suggest you read up on the FTC's 'Consumer Review Fairness Act' (CRFA) of 2016. He also seemingly takes pride in being a bully and belittling his prospective customers. Moreover, he regularly pulls out of deals on the 11th hour, [incorrectly] thinking that his customers need him more than he needs them. He did this with both my Mercedes S-Class and Range Rover -- several years apart. He's also done this to many other people, as called out in other reviews. Following my original horrid run-in with this outfit a few years ago, I figured I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and give them another chance. Perhaps Joe was just having a bad day during our original engagement? But nope! History repeated itself. Two years later, and Joe, who had zero recollection of our previous engagement, proceeded to pull his identical bag of tricks along with his passive aggressive remarks... which eventually turned into pure aggression as he realized that I wasn't buying into the nonsense. Some things never change! I eventually sold my Range Rover to one of the national online auto buyers/sellers. It was an easy, seamless and painless transaction. I even got a couple thousand $$ more than what CarNation Autobuyers was offering me. Selling a used car sucks. I tried posting my own ads for my Toyota Sienna, with average miles but a rough NYC exterior. I didn't get one legitimate offer for weeks. I took the minivan over to CarNation and Joe helped me through the process. Sure there was some back and forth -- he's running a business and trying to make the most money he can and I'm selling a car and trying to get the most money for it. Our interests are related, but not exactly aligned -- that's the nature of this business. In the end, I got probably the best deal I could have gotten with the least amount of effort. It was pretty painless on my part. I found Joe to be a good businessman, friendly, and honest -- I genuinely liked the guy. Josh at CarNation was fantastic! We recently moved to Brooklyn from out of state and were trying to quickly sell our car so we didn't have to deal with one more minute of street parking or overpriced Brooklyn garages. After stupidly trying to sell our car at a VW dealership in Brooklyn (because we figured it would be easier to take the subway back after the sale), we drove out to Long Island to sell the car to CarNation. We had already wasted most of our afternoon at the dealership, and arrived at CarNation only a half hour before closing on Sunday afternoon. Despite our late arrival, Josh greeted us warmly and even stayed a half-hour past closing to finish up our sale. We feel terrible that we kept him late, but are so grateful for his efficiency and professionalism! He also made sure we knew how to get to the LIRR station (1 mile away) so we could make our way back home to Brooklyn. He gave us a fair price for our used car and we couldn't have asked for a better sales experience. CarNation is also handling returning our out of state tags for us so that's one less thing on our to do list! We highly recommend CarNation for anyone looking to sell a car - especially new residents of NYC who realize that it's just not worth having a car in the city. The manager of CarNation, Joe, is an excellent lier. I brought in a 2012 Nissan LEAF which Carfax indicates had no history of accidents. When I called CarNation, I told the salesman that Kelley Blue Book estimated the resale value of my car to be at least $3800. I was led to believe there was a good chance that they would meet that price, but of course they'd need to go over the car themselves. Joe convinced me that, according to his examination of the car, it had significant damage in the past, and was actually only worth $2000. He also mentioned dings which I felt were minimal. He said he'd give me an extra $500. because I was a nice person, and asked if I would write a good review. I asked if he would tell anyone who was thinking of buying the car about the damage. He said of course he would. I sold him the car but decided to wait and see what he would be selling the car for, and if he was actually letting buyers know about (what he convinced me of) the potentially dangerous result of the damage. I am posting their description of the car, as advertised by them on CarGuru, which is misleading at best, if what I was told was the truth. 'The front windshield is in excellent condition. No dings are visible on this vehicle. The paint is in great shape and condition. The tires are slightly worn with about 75% of tread life left. The interior was well maintained and is extra clean. The exterior was well maintained and is extra clean. The engine is functioning properly and has no issues. This vehicle has no previous collision damage. The transmission shifts very smoothly. The brakes are in great condition. The battery is in excellent condition. The car was previously owned by a non smoker. This vehicle comes with a spare key." I left a message with Joe after reading the advertisement for the car I sold them, as I was very upset. I said that I will now write my review, but it will be a bad one. He called back, and threatened me with a lawsuit. Coming from a family of lawyers, this does not intimidate me, although it does explain the relative lack of negative reviews for a company which I feel certainly must have misled buyers and sellers other than just myself. read more

From 1 start to superstar.This is a follow up for my original review which I took down in which I gave them 1 star. I had some serious issues but they came through with the fixes so it's only fair I revise it. Let me tell you the story.I bought this car around September 16th I may be off a day but I bought it sight unseen i live in New Mexico. We made an agreement on the purchase price and shipping. For the most part all that went smooth and I got the title before I got the car. Communication was good and I did have some questions and Rob and Joe called me back and alleviated those concerns. I believe I called a few times with questions and they always got back to me in a timely manner. When I received the car a few days later that's when things turned sour. When the car arrived the driver told me it had leaked oil on the other cars below it. When I went to go look all his cars where covered in oil. I have pics of it and it literally looked like someone took a quart of oil and dumped it on the cars below. I drove the car from his hauler to my garage which was about 30 feet away. When I lifted the car up to inspect the leak I already had a puddle of oil on the driveway. I started the car and you could see oil spewing from the oil pan area and that's when I snapped or as Joe said it went "nuclear". This was on a Sunday late afternoon. They are closed on a Sunday. BUT I decided to go off and email Joe and call him and there was no answer. SO instead of waiting until Monday when they are open to get this resolved I decided to blast them on FB,Google,Yelp and the BBB. Joe got back to me and he was not happy and asked me to take the reviews down so we could resolve this. I did not at the time and was taking it to the next level. Joe asked me several times to take the reviews down or he would not help me resolve the issues. We talked on the phone and I had a lot of colorful words for him. Again Joe asked me to take the reviews down so we could resolve the issues but I was seeing red and was not listening to anything he said. After a few emails and phone calls I finally calmed down and Joe asked me what it would take to get the car fixed. I still had not driven it because I did not want to blow the motor or keep adding oil. I am pretty mechanically inclined and knew that the oil an gasket and oil pan manifold needed to be changed. I did find a mechanic that would not price gouge me and knew what he was doing. If anyone knows these northstar motors they are a pain to work on and for the oil an issues to be fixed you have to pull the motor BUT there are ways not to if you are a good mechanic. After talking with Joe he said take it to the mechanic and have them fix it and we will go from there. The mechanic had the car for a little over a week almost 2 and again I drove it 30 feet in 2 plus weeks. After it was all said and done I got the car back and sent Joe the bill and they said they would pay for ALL of it. Now I made sure that I wasn't going to be overcharged but if anyone knows what this work it's a 1500 to 2000 dollar job it's not cheap or easy. So I felt I would do them a solid and insure I got a deal on it and also to make sure I don't get stuck with the bill.As of today 11/4 after my revised review they will be sending me money today and the rest next month which I agreed to. So kudos to these guys for stepping up like business men and taking care of the issues.That says a lot So a few things I can admit when I am wrong and being a complete pain in the ass which I was. So for that I want to apologize to Joe and Rob. I think once these guys seen all the pictures of the issues they knew why I was livid but again I did not give them a fair opportunity to fix it. To me it's not about what you get but how it's fixed if there are issues. I did not give them that opportunity to fix the issues but after all this and after me being an ass they still are going to fix the issues buy paying for the repairs. Now to me that is great service. I think all the reviews are from the owner's friends, which might not be true, because such a piece of dirt couldn't possibly be liked by anyone on this planet, even his own family. Joseph is definitely one of the nicer car salesmen you will meet. I probably had a one off experience, went in to have my car evaluated, was given a value. I was beyond thrilled with the offer however had to come back to close the deal. Came back the next day, and turns out the real value was 3k less than what I was originally told. It just so happens that the wrong year was entered into the system which gave a higher value. I agree mistakes happen, but it was certainly not what I expected from someone who has been in the car sales business for years. What I liked about him is he is very honest, friendly and tried to make up for the mistake he made which I appreciated. He is also good with educating his customers on the process, what to expect etc. My recommendation however, if you have a car that is well-kept, there are plenty of third parties out there willing to buy it directly. Go through craigslist or one of those mediums and avoid the $800+ fee that you may get charged elsewhere. Also, the one downside to the location is its quite a hike from Manhattan. Takes 40 mins at a minimum to get there. read more

Made the trip from Manhattan to Long Island to sell my 2005 Toyota Highlander. I do know it was an old car and had a few dings from being parked on the street but they gave me a reasonable price and were very friendly to work with. The car was in great condition inside for the most part other than changing out the floor mats and a little spot cleaning so I know it would sell quickly in it did. I got a trade in amount for my car. I printed it and talked to Joe on the phone about trading it in. He said come down and we will talk. I went there the next day and they wanted to give me less then the trade in quote. The car was a 2019 outlander with 9000 miles. Not a dent or anything wrong. I was quoted $4000.00 less then the quote. when I questioned about why he said that we can get more if I scam the bank my loan was with. He said with the Corona virus and people out of work the bank would deal with me for less then what was owed on the car and that's how I could get more money. I told him I didn't want to scam anyone I just wanted what the quote said my car was worth and I would pay the difference to pay car off. After he disappeared for over a half hour he came back in an said if your not going to go thru with the bank scam he wasn't dealing with me... I read reviews before I purchased which were generally very good. I was told their mechanic thoroughly checked out the car before I purchased it, but it had several obvious issues which should have been caught and repaired before I picked it up. A spare key and a backup camera were promised at delivery, but Joe must have gone into witness protection as three months later he's still unreachable.
