I ordered Al pastor, asada, and chicharrón en salsa which where all good! Wife got tamales and daughter got gorditas with beans and cheese. It's a little small but nice decor in the walls. This place has some awesome Birria tacos!!! Just so delicious. The order brings 3 tacos. They do have a full menu available and everything I've had is good. The restaurant is set behind the supermarket so just walk to the back and you'll see some tables and the area where you order your food from. Came here during my lunch, ordered 3 carne asada tacos and a coke. Service was quick, got my food within 10-15 minutes. Now for the food.. once I got back to work I went to bite my taco and I got a mouth full of fat and tendon which is really tough to chew. I basically paid for tendon and fat. What they do is cut the bad parts of the meat and cut it in tiny pieces so you can't really tell what it is, but once your chewing it you can definitely tell it's tendon and fat. I ended up having to pick off the meat and just eat the meat off the taco because I didn't want to have to spit out the tendon and fat. Very disappointing and I probably won't be back. read more

Very good store, they have variety of products and the prices are good. Inside you will find a Taqueria in the back which also has dinner plates, Tortas, Tacos, Burritos. Etc. Something I thought was cool was the tacos have different sizes "Chico" or "grande". The milanesa torta came with a huge piece of meat and it was different bread from the regular tortas I have had at Las Tortas Locas. I just didn't like my piece of meat was not breaded. It was a huge torta tho so I'll keep all the stars :) From the outside, the store looks small. But inside there is not only a taqueria. There is a La Michocana in the front with Chamoyada, Mangoyada, ice cream, Etc. This Carniceria is huge and offers so many different food options. Don't judge from the outside. This business includes a great restaurant in the back for casual dining, a grocery store with meat market, fresh veggies & small bakery. Also lots of ice cream up front. Tried this place out since we're new in the area and the lady was craving some Mexican food. It's a restaurant, grocery, butcher, and check cash out store. It's pretty cool since they have a variety of items. The food is pretty ok but I don't think we got any of their specialty's. I tried asking for some recommendations but there's a bit of a language barrier. The menu is in English though and they understood what I wanted so no real issues aside from them no being able to recommend me anything. They have menu screens on the wall so you can see what they have but they don't show their dinner plates so we assumed they weren't made anymore. Grabbed a menu pamphlet and the dinner plates are there they just don't show up on the menu screens they have at the restaurant. The wings are amazing with the size but as you can see the bed of fries are soggy so that's my only issue with it. The wings are just salt and pepper so no Buffalo or any other seasonings. The steak was pretty good nicely seasoned and tender. I definitely need to try this place again for their dinner plates since that seems to be where they specialized. read more

We were at Big Lots & stopped in to pick up some tortillas for dinner. The shoppers reminded me of the low rent types you see at Wal-Mart but in another country, since everyone (except us) was speaking Spanish. Got in line and waited behind a couple that held up the line by questioning each item after it was rung up. WTF people! There were really bad kids there in line behind us and I wanted to leave. Betsy convinced me to stay though, because we needed the tortillas. The cashier was very nice despite the madness around her and she did speak English also. We got our shit & left. The best authentic Chile Pablanos I've had some nice my mother-in-law passed away. She lived in Mexico. The Pozole is also amazing. I wish this place would make homemade tortillas though. We recently relocated back to Gainesville from Arizona and have been looking for great Mexican food. Don't underestimate this grocery/eatery restaurant. We ordered breakfast burritos which were fresh, and so big that that my wife could only eat half. I had a chorizo, potato, egg burrito - and it had to weigh two pounds. Everything about the meal from the burrito skin to the sausage is authentic Mexican. Will definitely return to see how they do with additional items on their menu. Keep up the good work. read more

Delicious breakfast burritos, chips and salsa brought to the table, and a stocked salsa bar with (including guacamole!). It was also very reasonably priced. There are plenty of tables/seating inside in the cafe area. We just had a couple of the same tocino/huevos burritos (bacon, eggs, cheese) and added stuff from the salsa bar. They were great, and everything else we saw coming out of the kitchen looked just as good. We definitely want to go back to try more! read more

I stopped in to get the guys from work and I some steak burritos that they were raving about. I hadn't ever heard of this place but word travels fast if you have good food. Walking into the place all I see is groceries and a butcher shop. I make my way to the back and see the window to place my order and a setting area that was full of about 15 people. A good sign. The wait wasn't too bad and I was out the door in about 15 minutes. Once I got back I was instructed that once I picked up my burrito that I couldn't set it down. I had to go all in. Lol. No problem. The burrito was one of the best I have ever had. The steak was extremely tender and everything else was really fresh tasting. I recommend that you get some of the guacamole salad off of the salsa bar. It gives it an added kick. All this for around 7.50. On Tuesday you can nab one for around $6. We bought some Mexican candy for the children--they loved the peanut marzipan best, and were intrigued by the chili sugar and tamarind gummies. We took home samples of all the tamales on offer--there were chicken, pork, beef, sweet corn, and jalapeno and cheese. Each kind was absolutely delicious--the sweet corn was my favorite. These tamales have a flavor you can only find in an authentic Mexican tamale--and the texture was perfect. The tacos for sale in the cafe were out of this world. Honestly, I have never had a better tasting taco than their grilled chicken on a corn tortilla...plus there were 10 different condiments: various fresh salsas, fresh sliced limes, cilantro, pickled spicy peppers, onions etc...and THEN we found the most wonderful handmade chorizo at the carniceria, along with fresh green cactus and frying cheese from the produce and dairy sections. Frying the chorizo for supper tonight filled my house with a smell so heavenly--even my picky kid couldn't resist and loved it! We are going to go back soon for more of their fantastic authentic Mexican food--and to further explore the more exotic offerings at the carniceria. The prices are very reasonable for everything. I am hard to please, but this spot is my new favorite Gainesville fine food fix. read more

This market was very clean, and had a wide variety of foods I was unfamiliar with. I bought some of them, and they turned out to be delicious. Very helpful staff, and cashiers. I am White and most shoppers were Hispanic, but that shouldn't matter. Judging people because of their culture and ethnicity is wrong. I enjoyed my experience and plan to go back! read more

This is my favorite taqueria in a grocery store style restaurant. The restaurant is in the back of the store. What sets this place apart from all other taco joints in town is the salsa bar. 7 days a week they have a cold bar loaded with self serve taco toppings. I always get tacos but I have seen some tasty looking dishes come out to other patrons. This is one of the only places in town were you can get all the fresh salsa and guacamole you want on your tacos and walk out full on less than $5. read more
