The birria taco was apparently so good that my son finished the whole thing, which is rare. The sope was excellent, and the chimichanga is still amazing. Under new ownership, serving halal meat if that's what you're looking for, but it's no longer authentic Mexican, more like "Mexican style" Everyone was very nice there but unless you need halal meats ( also Los sombreros serves halal /mexican) then you should probably stick to a los burritos tapatio or one of the other more authentic Mexican taquerias. The chilaquiles was made with the bagged chips and the table salsa which has zero peppers in it. And the chimichanga was dripping wet from the wet ingredients inside, lettuce and tomato, sour cream, so the plate came very wet and on first inspection it smelled like dishwater so I couldn't enjoy the chimichanga after that. Prices were on the high side for non gourmet tacos, $4.99 and not even handmade tortillas at that price. And if you want to upgrade to skirt steak in your burrito it adds $10 extra dollars. Ribeye tacos are $7 each!!! There's so many other Mexican restaurants to choose from I will take this one off my list of places to eat. read more

Lombard doesn't need any more halal restaurants and just like the comedically contrasting signage, their expensive mediocre tacos are a testament to what happens when you remove authentic local business. I refuse to give this restaurant any more of my money, and it's sad to see a business and cuisine that I use to share with friends suddenly shift becoming a place I'll no longer share with them. Don't spend your money here. If you want real authentic Mexican food, I highly recommend Los Burritos Tapatios on Roosevelt. Los is tastier, *actually authentic*, and cheaper! The food was good, not great and way too expensive. Payed over $60 for 8 tacos. Their Quesabirria didn't quite satisfy and the rice was bland. I did really enjoy the Ribeye Tacos but what I paid for two, I could have gone to a steak house and bought a full ribeye steak. There was a good amount of meat, and it was well cooked, but there was almost no seasoning on it whatsoever. Super bland. The gave our group of 6 a basket of about 15 chips with some salsa, and then tried to charge us 6$ for another basket once we had each had our allotted 2.5 chips. I ordered a taco dinner, 2 steak 1 shrimp and a "Mexican Coke" per their menu. The tacos were alright, nothing to write home about. The beans were either refried then stored with water or idk what because it was soupy gray liquid with some beans popping up occasionally. Rice was pretty much tasteless, no salt..probably frozen before reheating as per texture. But the"Mexican coke" was good! The lady taking orders seemed to not be able to smile if her life depended on it. When asked if we can split the bill she said no they don't do that and I mean she was not too happy of me asking. When the bill came I figured out why... so she can add that 20% gratuity. Customer service like that is something I've NEVER had at any taqueria before and I've been to MANY. I get it, it was 6 of us but had you been nicer and not stereotyped us to the rest of the cheapos that probably walk in there, you would've gotten double that. Horrible experience with both food and service. I think they are more of a catering place than anything and halal taquerias are few and far between so that's likely why this business is still alive. The owners are super friendly and welcoming. We tried the birria tacos, pazole, and elotes. The tacos were out of this world! Meat was so tender, juicy, and so flavorful! We ordered an array of items, including an assortment of tacos, nachos, Tamales, and a quesadilla. The tacos were the star of the show. I've wanted to try this place for a while now and I'm so glad I did! The Lombard area has a ton of halal food options but this is definitely one of the best. The food is authentic Mexican and the owner Paul is very enthusiastic and takes pride in his food. The Nachos Locos is a huge appetizer filled with ground beef, nacho cheese, guacamole, sour cream, beans, tomatoes, and more! The Chicken Enchilada was seasoned very well with all the components melted into perfection. I also sampled a variety of Tacos, my favorite of which was the skirt steak. The other meat options included pastor (beef), chorizo (beef), and chicken. I loved all of them but would have liked some more seasoning on the chicken. Finally, you must try the Mexican Flan, it was out of this world! I'll definitely be going back soon. read more

To top it all off it was expensive. Chicken Fajitas - flavorless. Tough chicken. Undercooked rice. Beans were the most edible part. Guacamole - watery and flavorless. Everyone was really raving about these tacos so i had to try them. They were regular tacos, not bad but not fantastic either. They forgot my cheese so make sure to check your To-go orders. We usually get the shrimp taco dinner plate and steak taco dinner plate. We've also tried the birria tacos. They have different "styles" you can have your tacos made and I usually choose "cilantro and onions" and it's so fresh! I love how I can taste everything because they don't overpower the taco. Also, they don't skimp you--meat/seafood is plentiful. They have a couple of sauces you can choose from on the side (beware: the spicy sauce is good, but actually very spicy!) I usually do pickup but there is seating inside if you'd like to dine in. Try this place if you haven't! read more

The reason I give it a 4 star is because it's a good place for Muslims to get halal authentic Mexican food. The staff aren't friendly but I know the food industry isn't easy especially with the kind of customers they are getting (annoying and rude). Nonetheless, they should be nicer and less rude. My husband says he hates going in to get our food because he doesn't like to deal with the rude staff-- even though it's an online order pickup majority of the time. The food is a hit or miss, and that's mainly way there's one star less. Sometimes it's delicious and other times it's like Taco Bell but 3xs more expensive. The ambiance isn't anything to look forward to. It's pretty generic and small but they make the best of their space. Could be a bit cleaner but I know the customers they get aren't very clean/pick up after themselves. I say you're better off calling or ordering online anyway!
