Dr. Brooks did dental work without submitting a claim to my insurance company first. She started detailing the work to her dental assistant and then proceeds to do the work. After I submit the bill to the insurance company I'm told the work was never approved. So now I'm responsible for over $1200.00 in dental work. I am on a fixed income. Her office doesn't care they did the work and they expect to be paid. PLEASE don't let her touch your mouth until you know in advance if the work is approved. read more

I'm about to have a midnight snack and just realized my lower left second molar, tooth 18, doesn't hurt anymore. It hurt for a while. Whenever I tapped that tooth with a spoon or chewed I felt pain. I just did that, while eating cereal, and it didn't hurt at all. The mesial side hurt. It felt like she was fixing the distal side. So, honestly I thought she misunderstood my pain. But she didn't. She fixed my tooth without hurting the painful side. She injected the aspirating syringe correctly on the first try. There was not any blood in the syringe. She works fast. She's respectful to patients time. While getting prepared with me. She excused herself because she had other patients. So, she can't talk all day. I have always loved when she's running late. Her staff calls to see if you'll come later or reschedule. I do prefer to wait two hours at home than in an office. Her hygienist, Nedra, is great and knows everything. I thought I was jealous of Nedra but I think I'm more envious. If I was jealous I'd hate her. I like her. I think she should be a dentist. The new guy is very nice and polite. She is 100% better than "Western Dental." Especially the Inglewood location. Their commercials are false advertising. Don't fall for a celebrity saying it's great. ITS NOT! The customer service at this office is horrible! I called to see if I could make an appointment and I have Medicare Insurance. I actually found this office based on the Medicare Provider list. A male answered the phone and when I asked him if they accepted Medicare. Before he could answer, I hear a female yelling "no" with an attitude. Then the male stated to me "no ma'am" and promptly hung up without giving me the opportunity to respond. This place is horrendous. Had Medi-Cal and found it on their website. Called to make an appointment and Dr. Brooks herself answered and scheduled me. Told them I had Medi-Cal and gave my ID number. When I got there, I was early. The place was rundown and gross inside and outside the office. The receptionist told me I had come on the wrong day. I said I hadn't, since I had other appointments on the day she said I was supposed to have come, and I wouldn't have double booked myself in my own calendar. Regardless, I asked her if I could still be seen that day, because if not, I'll need to leave. She said she couldn't tell me, and everyone is at lunch, and to fill out some forms. I waited an hour. Finally someone left me in an exam room for a while and then told me I didn't have Medi-Cal dental! I definitely do, since I used their website to find this office and spoke to Medi-Cal shortly before. I told them I wanted to call Medi-Cal so they'd believe me, but they didn't want me to. I was on hold with Medi-Cal and they were telling me I couldn't talk to them. Dr. Brooks came in the room and yelled at me and told me to leave because she had another patient. I told her I had scheduled with her personally on the phone, and she didn't know what to say. She was very angry though and gave me a paper that she said showed I don't have Medical-Cal dental coverage. I told her she was wrong, and she laughed at me. I have a disability that causes me pain when I am under stress, and I was in a lot of pain while she was yelling at me. Then she left me in the room alone again for a long time. I finally asked the receptionist what was going on, and she didn't know. I asked for my paperwork back, but they gave me a copy, not the real papers. I told them I did have Medi-Cal and to not bill me for the visit at which no treatment was performed, and that I felt I was treated very badly. I immediately called Medi-Cal afterward, and they confirmed to me that I did have Medi-Cal dental coverage (again) and that the paper that Dr. Brooks gave me said that. She just didn't know how to read it or was confused (or lying). They told me I could report Dr. Brooks to the dental licensing board, which I did immediately. They are currently investigating her. I feel extremely badly for anyone who goes to her office and doesn't know their rights or is too scared to stand up to her and her staff. Note to Dr. Brooks and staff: Don't even try to defend yourselves on Yelp and retaliate against me. It's not a good look. Save it for the dental licensing board and/or whatever other agencies are investigating you/making you give refunds. read more

A very poor run dental office always staff changes,issues with equipment,over charging for deep cleaning,weak examination skills. I had two people who recommended this dental office they both had problems and left. I had an existing crown damaged on a deep cleaning visit and it seemed like their solution was super glue,what followed was a visit to a real dentist for extensive work and cost.The X-ray machine wasn't working on that visit. If all your equipment is not working you shouldn't take patients,they can become victims. I should have dump them two visits ago. I tried to do business in the neighborhood and got burnt. read more

Absolutely Horrible service. Went in to have an old silver filling replaced with white filling only to have the filling fall out months later and they took no accountability. Blamed it on me of course and expected me to pay over $400 for another xray, exam plus filling replacement. No discount or compensation was offered. I hate giving bad reviews especially for minority owned businesses, however my experience with Carol Brooks DDS truly warrants it.I last visited the office in Sept 2019 after numerous visits to replace a lost tooth, I have insurance so once a treatment plan was created insurance indicates what they cover I pay difference and get my tooth. Simple?! Nope all I received was a run around and a bill in May 2020. Did not receive ANY bills until May when office is closed due to COVID. Office provided NO SERVICES NO TREATMENT NO TOOTH but billed me $665. Can't speak to anyone only addressing emergencies but SOMEONE is sending out bills. So disappointed! read more

Not a very good experience during my time as a patient (less than a year). Worst incident was the crown she put on that came off 4 times; after the 2nd time it was recemented I found another dentist. He ended up having to do a gum procedure in order to replace the crown which had not been done correctly. I filed a claim and received a refund. As a first time patient, my appointment was at 1030, in the chair for x-rays by 1050, in the chair for my cleaning right after that , out by 1130 and it was actually Dr Brooks herself doing my cleaning. I am hesitant to give a review for this office since I have not actually had any work done by this dentist. I am however, giving a review for the office staff by the first name of Natalie. I called to see what the problem was when it came to getting texts about an appointment that I so called had scheduled. This was the second or third time this year that I had gotten a text from this office. Since I've been a victim of identity theft in the past, I decided to investigate further. I called the office and tried to explain to Natalie that there might be a problem and all she did was yell at me and told me that she would remove my phone number from their system. As I tried to explain that there might be a problem she continued to talk over me in a very rude and uncaring way and had no intentions to hear me out or help me in any way. She even hung up on me when I further tried to explain what I thought was the problem. I called a third time and after yelling at me some more and me further insisting, finally Natalie transferred me over to a very nice office person by the name of Brandy. Brandy heard me out and further tried to help me with my concern. I am so angry at the fact that Natalie, being the office manager, was not willing to help a person who's not even a patient. Furthermore, bringing me to believe that the patients she does have she is probably awful to them period. In my opinion and my experience with this office manager Natalie, she gets a review of NO stars for her lack of empathy and lack of willingness to help. Since Yelp does not let me give 0 Stars I was forced to give her one.
