I called to see if they took my insurance. They verified that they did. I made an appointment for my three kids and the dentist and hygienist were great. I went to bring them back 6 months later to find out that I had a $456 balance and they do not take my insurance. When I complained and said that I verified insurance in advance I was told that "these things happen" and I still need to pay. Unless you are interested in paying out of pocket even though you have dental insurance I would avoid this place at all costs. read more

Would recommend 10/10. First off the staff is super friendly and welcoming which definitely helped with my son being very nervous and anxious. I was able to work out the issue I had with scheduling with Dr. Bevin Malley. She called me personally and worked it out with the hospital to get him scheduled. He had his surgery today and she did excellent work. She gave him back his ability to eat without pain. I cannot thank her enough for helping my son! Great work! read more

Absolute worst service ever! Most rude front staff & manager. Don't even think about getting any help if needed. Was on time for the appointment time scheduled but they claimed they had changed us to a different time. Mind you that it was pouring storming out for the drive with 2 small children. Showed up at 9:18 for. 9:20 Appt which they said was at 9 and charged me $80 for a no show!!!!! Not even tried to work us in but the front desk girl was so rude! Mind you, that the first visit we tried this place, we waited over 30 minutes from the cleaning time to see the dentist. Absolutely unreal business practice that deals with children where some times things don't go as planned or a miscommunication happens. Never left the time of the Appt on voicemail reminder either. WILL NEVER GO BACK. The one time we did meet the dentist he was quite rude and short and demanded that our 1 year old child get rid of his paci that he only used at bedtime. read more

Follow-up on this place - the Doctor did call after returning from Maternity leave and apologized for the awful service. However, 1 month later we had our son back in with another dentist repairing an abscess on the very teeth that they strongly recommended we not have removed. So we paid thousands to have a tooth repaired and my son had to be put under, etc. and then another dentist had to fix the poor work later. Talk about a complete 180 experience - Pediatric Dentistry of Matthews was fabulous, they got our son in ASAP, did the work with local numbing and nitrous and treated us and our child amazingly well. No overpriced, excessive services and a great overall experience with our new pediatric dentist. Avoid this place like the plague - I'm still fighting the charges since we had to have all of the work redone only a few months after spending thousands with Carolina Kids. read more

Dr. Malley has an exceptional team of caring individuals, to bad I cannot say the same about her. She is arrogant and lacks care for her patients. I was never really happy with her but her caring staff kept me going to the office plus the location was convenient. She does not acknowledge the parent and she is so "fake" when addressing the children. I have been taking my child there since he was one and now he is 5 and I have yet to receive a "hello" from her. She is inconsiderate and makes children wait for her a long time; I don't know if he over books appointments or she just has no care. I have noticed that her hygienist cannot call her and tell her that they are ready "NO COMMUNICATION". I was there at the office this week and I was told that the procedure was going to take between 30-45 min. It took 1 hour 40 minutes. My son was under the gas mask for all that time and when it was time for the filling, the hygienist prepared him too soon; so my son was with his mouth wide open for 25 minutes before she walked in. All the hygienist would do was look out the door and tell me "she should be right in". To top it all up when I asked for a school note my child was referred as the "THE ABOVED NAMED INVIDUAL" how about "patient" or maybe his name in the letter. Can't say enough about how great they are. Just took my 7 yr old grandson into have a cavity filled. They are so good with children. After he put on the elephant nose he was completely relaxed and enjoyed watching the movie. Never dreamed it would be this easy. Dr Stephanie and her assistant Ivy are true pros. What a disappointment with our dentist. My son had broken a bottom permanent tooth 75% off on Saturday night while playing. I called Carolina Kids Dentistry in Mint Hill at 730 pm and left a message on the emergency line for the dentist to call us back. After not hearing back by the next morning, I called the emergency line again and left a message concerning the broken tooth. Eight hours later, I got a return call from her. That is a total of 20 hours later that I finally got a response. Ironically, I had called a different dentist and left a message on their emergency line. He called back within one hour and set us up for the next morning to come in. Totally unacceptable Carolina Kids Dentistry. I hope others will learn about this so that they can avoid prolonged wait times and possible damage to their children's teeth. read more

If you want to consistently be billed more than what they state procedures will be(after the fact)feel free to use them. They are very shady on the billing and any time I have questioned it and asked for an itemized billing statement showing why it was different from what they said it would be I have NEVER received it. Most recently we received a call from a collection agency for a sum we had no knowledge of. We had never received a bill or even a phone call. Turned out $350 was charged to fix a space maintainer that had some skin which had grown over it. We were never told it might not be covered by insurance or we would have just had it removed(and how did it get to a collection agency when we hadn't even received ONE bill? Our address hadn't changed. I asked the office for a bill via phone twice(so I could contact our dental insurance and see what happened). I still haven't received one. I then left a message for Dr. Bevins to call me. She didn't return that phone call either. I filed a complaint with the BBB. They didn't respond to that either and turns out it's a common problem with this office. Do yourself a favor and avoid this dentist. There are plenty of honest ones out there who are just as good with your kids! read more

We love this dentist. Our experience started a year and a half ago when my son broke his front teeth. Dr. Malley was on maternity leave and another dentist was up to his eyeballs with emergency patients yet he still took the time to explain things to us. The entire staff was so friendly and patient and my son felt at ease and comfortable as a result. Now that Dr. Malley is back, we love her! Every visit has been positive. I declined a recommended treatment once because I wanted to do more research before letting my children have it done, and they did not pressure me to do it. My younger son is a difficult patient and they are always so kind and patient with him to help him to relax and feel less nervous. read more

After being referred to this office by insurance I was NOT impressed. I asked multiple times before both of my kids were seen what I would owe, every person I talked to said I would be charged $0 and that they looked over the insurance, the Male dentist I saw I was very displeased with, my son had four cavities and one of them needed a root canal, he spoke with me all of two seconds and then rushed off. The hygienists were very nice. Fast forward 3 months later and I receive a bill for $250, when I called to ask why the lady told it was because I had a deductible and that they performed x rays that weren't covered. Okay??? I was told that my insurance was looked up and everything was covered, the ladies response was "well we just bill insurance to be courteous and that I should have known what would be covered." I was not asked if I was okay paying for additional x rays that weren't going to be covered. I don't think I'll be back. read more

We had a great experience here. My youngest son has had dental problems and gets cavities very easily. We had an awful experience at another pediatric dentist and when I found out he needed more work done, I was very nervous. We had a totally different experience at Carolina Kids. The staff is friendly, the dentist has a great bedside manner and put my son at ease. The offices are very modern and he had a television screen above him while he got his drilling done. They have video games for the kids if they have to wait, etc. I don't really care that much about those bells and whistles, but they are a nice plus. Most of all, my son was kept calm and comfortable while getting some tough dental work done, which gives them five stars in my book! read more

I took my children, 11 & 8 here for the first time last week. We love Dr. Malley!! I couldn't be happier with the friendliness of the staff and both dentists. I am shocked by the negative reviews on here. I have taken my kids here for 6 years and I can't say enough good things about them. They are amazing with my children...the entire staff. They take their time and make them feel so comfortable. When my son broke his two front teeth off during a basketball game on a Saturday afternoon this past summer, Dr. Malley saw to it that someone meet us at the office, opened the practice up at 7:00pm on a Saturday to treat him immediately. She was out of town at the time. I recommend this office to everyone I know who has children because they are amazing. I'll never take my kids anywhere else! read more

Parents please read this before you consider taking your family to Carolina Kids Dentistry. About a month ago I took my three year old for a cleaning. I was impressed with the office, the location the hygienists and then I was quite disappointed with Dr. Malley. It was his first trip to the dentist and she was VERY brief and gave very little information about dental care. I was a little annoyed but gave her a second chance when I scheduled an appointment for my 12 month old son last week. We had a dental concern because it appeared that he had an extra tooth coming through the roof of his mouth. When Dr. Malley arrived she didn't take the time to look at his chart. She didn't know his name, age or our concern. She put him in the chair quickly and within three seconds decided that it was an extra tooth and that she would extract it in the office while I help hold him down. "He's young enough that he won't remember it being a traumatic experience or painful." I WILL REMEMBER MY ONE YEAR OLD GOING THROUGH THAT! She then suggested to have him go under anesthesia at the hospital to have it extracted and also casually said that she may have to extract his front tooth as well. I was in tears. At this point she still never asked his name, asked his big brothers name who was with me, asked if I had questions..........she basically just showed my the way to the financial office for me to sign the paperwork. She spent about 60 seconds with my son and was ready to have him be hospitalized. I asked if she should do an ex ray and she replied, "we'll do one when he's under." That same week I went to another pediatric dentist. The first thing they did was address him by name, talk about the concerns, take an ex ray and then the Dr. spent at least five minutes thoroughly examining his teeth. He asked us to come into his office and spent 30mins explaining what was really going on with my baby. He has a Talon Cusp. Which is just an extra piece of tooth that forms but shares the same root. He explained that we were to leave it alone and when his baby tooth falls out, it will all come together. He spent the time with my baby and had an impressive knowledge on the Talon Cusp. Dr. Malley was so quick to put my child in unnecessary danger because she did not carry out a proper or thorough exam. She was ready to have him go under as soon as the following week! I'm so glad we got a second opinion and that he won't go through a traumatic and painful experience EVEN IF HE WON'T REMEMBER. read more

I had to write this review because I feel like Dr Malley was a lifesaver for us this past week. We've been going to this practice for about 2 years ever since our previous pediatric dentist fell out of our network. I am so happy we did find them. Our kids fall a lot on bikes and are clumsy so we already had a problem with both of the boys breaking their front teeth. We always had a great experience in the office. You can tell the place looks cool and nicely decorated from the pictures but the stuff is what counts. Everyone is very nice and great with kids and the doctors are even better. My older son (7) knocked out both of his front teeth 3 days ago. They were lying in the driveway next to him - a very shocking scene with a lot of blood and crying. I immediately called Dr Malley's emergency number since it was after 5pm. She got back to me in couple minutes, instructing me what to do and stayed with us along with another doctor and nurse for 3 hours after their office was already closed. If we didn't have a chance to do this we would probably end up in some ER with crazy line to wait and not having a chance for the teeth to survive. She performed an emergency surgery with fixing broken jaw, inserting his front teeth back with a hope of reattaching to the bone, making a small braces to hold the teeth in place and stitching his badly looking gums all over his mouth. The surgeons at Oral & Facial Surgery in Blakeney checked him the next day and stated that she did a phenomenal job and didn't have to fix anything else. It's 3 days after now, his swelling is finally getting better and I could not be more grateful for such a great dentist to have! I was surprised to read the negative reviews here, I guess everyone writes the bad ones and the good experience is not talked about. I have to say my younger son had a broken tooth that we were deciding on saving versus having removed. There was a chance of an abscess developing there as they told us but we took the chance because even thought it cost bunch of money that we didn't have I wanted him to have a chance to save it first. We were lucky that the abscess didn't develop unlike in the case of someone else writing a review here. I guess you have to take your chances and as a person who had similar problems as a kid I know how much it means to have your own teeth, even though half broken and repaired. We already had to call the emergency number 3 times since we became their patients and I cannot complain, always got a phone call back in couple minutes after I called. Not the place for younger ones! No patience for little patients. My three year old lost his front tooth a couple times and needed a cap replaced. He was scared of the drill but not being unreasonable. He was literally yelled at and I was told that he could never have it fixed again whether it was knocked out and hurt him or not bc he cried some during the drilling. All while the staff glared at me liked I had three heads for wanting my child's front tooth that was jagged and broken off to be fixed. Why have a dentist if they aren't going to help when you need them? We had previously raved about the dentist and had been going there for a couple years. I truly felt personally hurt by the whole experience and my three year old was traumatized. Sadly, I thought I would hear from them and half expected some type of apology since I wouldn't treat anyone with such disrespect . Wrong, I am still waiting on that call. read more
