The bags are not flat on the bottom but they use square cardboard containers. The greens had a lot of liquid. This food requires airtight packaging. This is a restaurant and charges high end restaurant prices. $22 for catfish with greens and potatoe salad. They should have high end containers. My greens leaked all over my fish before they even handed me the bag. I had catfish (big mistake) it was underfried with very little batter and fell apart from the collard greens. Wanted soul food for Sunday dinner after church so I visited this location. We easily found street parking near the restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. There was a line with about a 20-30 minute wait but the line did progress - the wait gave us time to look at the menu as first time visitors. The line is carry out only with open seating. The food is buffet style and you order and it is prepared for you to pick up at checkout. We ordered two things (catfish and creole salmon) that were made to order after about 10 minutes. The line staff were courteous as well as the staff at checkout. We had creole salmon fried catfish with two sides each including cornbread and we also got a Caesar salad. My dessert was the peach cobbler. The peach cobbler came to a total of $19.27 cents that's over 9.50 for each. But here lies The problem is that the peach cobbler was actually tart. When this location 1st opened it was very good and worth every referral. But as time has continued the quality of this location has gone down. I called the restaurant on my way home 15x, to which no one answered. When I got to the restaurant the line was out the door and there were people picking up orders. I asked, "what's going on with the phones?" to be met with, "the phones are down." As the employee actively ignored the phone as it rang in front of both of us. Our group called the Walkabout wanted to break bread before Christmas and we were guided by one of our walking partners to Carolina KitChen. We all met about 7:00 pm. We were greeted by a friendly staff & seated right away. Our server Avina was so pleasant, polite & friendly. She was very attentive. She brought us out some cornbread. The smell immediately filled our nostrils, cinnamon, sugar, butter... OMG! The first bite was devine. Tasted like heaven lol. I ordered calamari as an appetizer, it was surprisingly delicious. Very fresh & well seasoned! Probably some of the best I've had & I love calamari & try it wherever I can. I ordered the beef short ribs, my sister order the wings & waffle but got legs instead & our friend got the veggie plate. Everything came out hot & fresh! My wife got smothered pork chops over rice, greens and potato salad. Our food was amazing! It was perfectly seasoned, busting with subtle but present flavor. The greens even had a slight sweet taste and so did the potato salad. The customer service was also phenomenal. I usually get the fried fish from Carolina Kitchen in Brandywine, MD and it's excellent. I've been wanting to try the crabcakes but was scared they wouldn't be great. $32 later and boy was I right. They have a lot of nerve charging $30 (plus tax) for these "crabcakes". They taste like the box of frozen crabcakes that cost 2/$6 at the supermarket. They are nothing but filling with a few pieces of crab sprinkled throughout. In fact, they could better be claasified as fishcakes because that's as close to seafood that they taste. I went here last week and received the wrong order. I repeatedly told the server (who looked like a cracked out Karlous Miller) that I ordered cabbage, not collard greens. He ignored me and continued to put the wrong side order on my plate. The greens here are NASTY, that's why I ordered the cabbage. Also, I ordered jerk chicken and received smothered (totally different). Learn how to read, pay attention when someone is telling you that's the WRONG order, OR maybe find a new job.
