For my man's birthday he specifically requested a tres Leche cake so upon searching in the area decided on this bakery. They have such an easy method for ordering cakes. Just text them thru WhatsApp and someone responds and makes the process that much easier. They also request a deposit of 50% or more which you can just pay them through Zelle. I ordered my cake way in advanced so the day I came it was ready to go. I just had to wait for her to write happy birthday but I appreciated it not yet being written which to me means it was fresh and not just sitting there. As for the cake itself it was DRENCHED in the tres Leche mixture. And when I say drenched I mean drenched. It looked more like a soup. Don't get me wrong it tasted amazing but was overly saturated for such minimal cake. (Ima still eat it though!) The frosting is one of my favorites. Was looking for a wedding cake that wouldn't break the bank and I'm glad I found this place! Price: We got 2 two-tiered cakes with simple icing and it came out to $145 per cake. (yes.. it is a lot for a cake but wedding cakes in most other bakeries were WAY more expensive). Taste: They have different cake flavor options but we tried the dominican cake with guava filling for one cake and dulce de leche filling for the other. (We had 2 separate cakes for 2 receptions). Both were delicious and i preferred guava and my wife preferred the dulce de leche. Even though they usually don't do free tastings, Carolina was nice and let us sample a tiny bit of each when we visited to place our order. I liked how the cakes were a bit different from your typical white or choco flavors. We added our own flowers to make it pretty but you can also ask them for different designs/decorations. Either choose something from their instagram @carolinasdesserts or ask for your own custom one. Communication: This part I appreciated at a lot because we had a lot of questions and some changes to our cake orders but we were able to chat with the bakery through Whatsapp or by phone and on wedding day, the cakes were great. Mom and Pop place, very very tasty cakes. Understaffed only in the aspect of how busy, and in demand their cakes are. My sons ALWAYS request a Tres Leches cake for their birthdays, and this is my go-to place. Other reviewers can't seem to appreciate the honesty of real people. They truly are busy (for a reason) you complaining entitled numb-nuts! If you want mass produced cakes, ready to purchase, then go to a chain or Supermarket, but this is the real-deal Dominican style cakes, cooked the real-deal Dominican way, and that just takes time, something you can't always demand or buy by complaining. Canceled my order 5 days before my event. After I continuously called them for 2 weeks to make sure they can make the order and they kept confirming by phone. They then canceled my order after I gave them my deposit and told me that writing and decor is extra, but I put in my email the exact writing and decor I wanted, which they confirmed by phone. They never once responded to a single email & then canceled 5 days before my bridal shower. Horrible customer service, please do not use them for your special events. read more

I have ALWAYS bought my tres leches cakes from Carolina's in the past and have never had an issue with any of them. Her cakes are very delicious! I recently had a not so nice experience there. I ordered a tres leches cake last Friday, September 13th. She was able to accomodate my order being that I needed to pick it up soon. She said it would be ready in an hour. I asked a friend of mine, who was in that area, to pick it up for me and bring it to my job about 10 minutes down the road. She did me the favor. As soon as I was handed the cake, I went straight home to put the cake in the fridge. Fast forward to my birthday party the next day, when I went to cut the cake it smelled a little funny. Upon tasting it, I noticed the liquid had spoiled - not sure why. I called the bakery on Monday to see what could be done about this. I didn't want my money back, just wanted the delicious cake I have come to love. I left a voicemail. On Tuesday, I called again and no luck. On Wednesday, I spoke with a spanish woman and had told her what happened. She took down my information and assured me that either her or the owner would call me back. It is now Friday and I haven't heard from them. I brought the cake with me to work to bring back to them so they could taste it and see but I think I am just going to throw it out now. Everyone has their "off day" and that's what this might have been. But I am more disappointed in the fact that no one has returned my call than the fact that the cake was bad. The bakery was padlocked with a sign that said "will open Friday at 1 PM" I called and texted her numerous times. I did not receive a response. This place was kind of horrifying to walk into, honestly. I happened in here one day when I was trying to find a cake on a Monday, and most other places were closed. Well.. We walked out without a cake because of how filthy this location looked. First off, you walk in and there is roughly 3 feet of standing room between you and one of the saddest looking display cases I've ever seen. When we walked in there were MAYBE three cakes in the display that look like they've been in their since they opened this place. There were also a bunch of single slices packed in take out containers that looked about as old. When we inquired about what kind of cakes they had. There were three types available. A cheesecake (looked lopsided and scary), Dominican cake (we didn't see this) and Tres Leche (looked a bit off-putting, too.) Everything was covered in a layer of.... something.. from the counter to the display case. The woman behind the desk was really nice, and was trying to be helpful, but the look of this place really turned us off. We won't be back. There are simply too many other places that don't look like they are in dire need of a deep clean and a little updating. Perhaps the cakes taste great, I don't know, but I won't buy from a place that cares so little about its outward appearance. read more

Tres leches is not amazing but its okay. Very sweet but the flavor was okay. It taste like cake soaked in the 3 milk thats all. No biggy. I had better cake before with a distinct flavor to the tres leches, this one was just "safe", no distinct flavor. I had to edit because it taste amazing the next day ! This place is located near the library off Central Ave, not a great location. Parking is on the street, and the meters are usually broken. The shop itself is basically take out. They specialize in Latin desserts. The Dominican cake is very good, not too sweet like too many can be, good cake and nice frosting, reminds me of my Mom's. The flan is good but for some reason has a slightly floury texture. Tres Leches cake is also good but they top it with some sort of fake cream. Overall it's good but not great, and the prices are reasonable. I usually make my own cakes, but if I ever need to buy one I would probably order from here. read more

Where do I start with this place, how about the beginning. I ordered a cake (for a very special occasion) on Thursday which I was supposed to pick up on Friday night at 6pm even though I didn't need the cake till Saturday. I called that same Friday about 4:30pm and spoke to a nice lady and asked her if my cake could be picked up Saturday morning cause I just didn't have the room in my refrigerator and she told me that it wouldn't be a problem. I show up that same morning and speak to an older gentlemen about the cake I was supposed to pick up which I had already paid for. He mentioned that I was supposed to get it the night before. I explained my story and how the young lady I spoke too told me it would be held and refrigerated for me. Ready for this....I'm then told that my cake was sold being that I didn't pick it up on Friday night even after I told him what the young lady had mentioned to me. Needless to say, I was outraged and let him know about it as I mentioned how they can sell a cake that's been paid for already, he had no response and was unapologetic and at one point, even shrugged his shoulders as to say...oh well. If it wasn't for my wife, I would have probably put his head through the closest cake to us. This is not the place you should or anyone should want to do business with.
