As Cal Poly SLO Alumni I truly believe this is the epitome of quality in terms of what type of food options are available. I never see this place without a line and rightfully so! The ambiance is perfect with so much sea life and an ocean view while you eat and that really NICE ROCK. Great seafood market with a nice selection of dishes to choose from. I got a poke bowl 1/2 tuna 1/2 salmon. I got it aloha style which means they add avocado, eel sauce, spicy mayo, and green onion. It was as good as any place that just specializes in poke. My wife had the Combo and Chips that has fish, shrimp, calamari, and scallops. Everything was well prepared and definitely worth price. Our order taker was friendly and the guy calling out the pick up orders was very nice and very generous offering things like malted vinegar, hot sauce, and other condiments. Debated about which place to have a meal at Morro Bay, since was just dropping by for few hours. There's so many restaurants so not easy to pick one for a meal. This place seemed to be the most iconic and being at the end/start of the strip, it definitely had the most folks, lol. The back/side of the building had another window for ordering take out. Seemed to be same/similar menu as the waterfront side, and pretty much no line, so maybe worth getting food there to avoid the long wait. Since it was my first time, figured might as well be the lemming and line up in the front like all the other tourists, lol. We had lunch here after reading reviews on Yelp. There are 2 windows you can order from; one was right by the water and another around the back where there are seatings. Service was friendly. You'd order at the window and pick-up from another one. So glad they provided shades for outdoor seatings because the weather was really warm. In the continued search for good clam chowder, we stopped here for one of the many meals we'll be having this weekend. The menu is extensive but I only had one thing in mind and thus I got the CLAM CHOWDER BOWL $6.99 and HALIBUT fish and chips $24.99 plus $2 garlic fries upgrade. Sorry to say this place is as many have said, a tourist trap. The halibut batter lacked seasoning it was practically tasteless. It's freshly fried however. Fries upgrade helped the fries only. The entire basket didn't taste much like anything and the tartar didn't help. The clam chowder was very salty. And I mean, very. It barely had clams in it and didn't taste rich and mostly had big cubes of potato. It was disappointing. The lines can get very long very fast. They have a good spot with greats views or Morro Rock. While in town for 4 days I decided to order the fried combo with chips along with a bread bowl of chowder and a cup of chowder. The gentleman taking the order was friendly and engaging. I ordered and sat on one of the outsides benches outside. This was a grab n go style. In the fried combo there was fish, scallop, shrimp and french fries. All the items were very fresh and nicely fried. Clam chowder had a lot of flavor and hearty, however the sourdough bread in came in...it was stale. The fish & chips were the star of the meal, light, crispy, and full of flavor, with perfectly tender fish. It was time to put Fresno in the rear view mirror and spend some time on the coast, what better place than Morro Bay. I was craving a fresh crab sandwich and looked up restaurants on Yelp, Giovanni's caught (wink) my attention, the 2+ hour drive went by quickly and parking was a snap. The line to order was light and ordering was painless, I left a good tip in the jar, received my beer and located a table next to the viewing window, the order was just minutes away and in no time I was ready to enjoy a seaside lunch. The garlic fries were my first try and I must say they lived up to their name (((WOW))) delicious and with a few sips of the beer my journey to seafood land began. As you see in the pictures the meal was laid out very nicely and perfectly cooked. I used a fork for the fries because the garlic mix was abundant and I was trying to keep the food off my fingers. Continuing our trek down to LA, we stopped in Morro Bay to catch some beautiful ocean views and some delicious seafood. Giovanni's came highly recommended online so we were eager to give them a try. We arrived an hour before closing, so the lines weren't long at all thankfully. Despite that, we chose to order from their side takeout window to ensure our food came quickly (we were hungry lol). We got the fish & chips (upgraded the fries to garlic fries -- highly recommend), clam chowder, and poke bites. While I'd skip the poke bites next time, the fish & (garlic) chips were so good. The fish was buttery and flaky, and their housemade tartar sauce was delicious. The garlic fries were some of the best I had, beating out Gilroy Garlic Fries at Giant's game for me (sorry!). My husband and I love eating here when we visit Morro Bay. Our go-tos are the calamari and clam chowder. Even though it gets packed, the customer service is usually polite and kind. I will say though that they sometimes rush you since they want to tend to as many customers as possible to make the lines go by quicker. Came to this little market for a quick bite while in Morro and it was such a great find There is free street parking, and lots of outdoor seating there. You order first and self seat. They have a good selection of different seafood dishes. We got the grilled cod taco and a medium order of garlic Parmesan popcorn shrimp. We were very impressed how fresh and light the flavors were. The cod was seasoned well but not overpowering so you can taste how fresh all the ingredients were. I love how it's not heavily dressed liked some tacos. First-timer! After seeing TikToks and instagram photos, I had to make this part of our itinerary! We came on a Friday afternoon and luckily, there was no line. In our addition to our luck, we were able to get parking right in front of the restaurant. There are plenty of outside seating too. They have a good selection on their menu and we decided to try the fish and chips for $19.99 and clam chowder bread bowl for $14.99 to share. The prices are pretty decent compared to other places ive been to. Also, the cashier was friendly and their service was fast. It didn't take too long for our food to be ready. Just watch out for those seagulls. They will be watching and waiting to take your food! The servings were pretty generous. For the fish and chips, the fish was a bit bland but there were five pieces and the fries were definitely enough! I enjoyed the clam chowder the most. It was very flavorful and different from other places I've tried. I wish we got a two cups instead of the bread bowl but will definitely get two cups the next time. This spot is always our first food stop as we arrive in Morro Bay. The fishwich is still the standard order, now we usually get it with the coleslaw. It is a cool place to eat, still takes a while to get the food, but the outside eating area is really nice. Animals are allowed. It is a pleasant place to sit and eat. Sometimes we get good to go before heading home, and we have bought fish from the market next door, the fish are very good there too but expensive. We will continue to eat here as we are welcomed over and over, as are our animals. read more

Well first of all I don't like posting disappointing review. We had never eaten here on our many visits to Morro Bay. And I understand the economy is not great. But seriously our experience was disappointing to say the least. First of all prices seemed fair till we got our food. We ordered the popcorn shrimp fair price for what we recieved, we ordered a bowl of clam chowder which was a little over a cup size not a bowl. And it mainly was potatoe soup. Then we order a mixed shrimp and crab cocktail. Now that was extremely sad. It came in like a little 4 oz container mixed with celery. A 2 ounce cocktail sauce on the side with one pack of crackers for 15 dollars. The little containers where served in a small boat probably trying to make it appear larger. I had to dump it into the boat to mix it together. The patio area doesnt have any attendants cleaning tables. Its just not what we thought. 1st and last time ever eating here. Being a business owner I understand what it takes but come on now people work just as hard as paying customers to recieve some better portions. Giovanni's window has a super wide selection of fresh seafood; and plenty of covered outdoor seating (most of the seating is surrounded with glass to help with the wind, and the entire outdoor seating area is covered with a wide net to help keep the seagulls out. All of our food was super fresh - totally worth the wait (and even then, it really wasn't a long wait at all) Deep Fried Halibut & Chips - $24.99 - they've got the batter and fry technique down to a science; came with 5 pieces of halibut, not greasy, and the batter sits closely to the fish, no air pockets to be found! Shrimp Ceviche Tostadas - $14.99 (Special) - wonderfully fresh shrimp ceviche, on freshly fried tostada. Came with packets of tapitio, but it only needed the squeeze of fresh lemon it came with.
