    salmon poke
    Christina T.

might've just ordered the wrong item, but their poke was not good. i expected their fish to taste really good, but the salmon was honestly lacking that fishy taste. i had a bite of my boyfriend's snapper burrito and i really enjoyed that, so i think i would skip the poke if you're looking to check this place out. the restaurant is nestled right by the ocean, and the views are really great. the staff were friendly.

This is a low service, eat outside, window order and self serve situation where everyone is too busy to be bothered with anything you might need, so manage your expectations. The food is good but prices are too high for what you get. Ambiance is good only because it's outdoor, overlooking the marina, and it's Morro Bay. It had nothing to do with the restaurant. Parking can be a little challenging but you'll find plenty of street parking if you're willing to walk.

The food is not worth the wait. Waited one hour in the hot sun in line to order. Waited another 20 minutes to pick up our order. Come to find out, folks can order online. UGH! The chowder lacked potatoes and clams. The fried combo-and chips was good, I really liked the fried scallops... so fresh and juicy. There's really not enough seating, people are hovering tables waiting for folks to finish up. We weren't too bothered, as we guilty of hovering as well. After our long long wait and hussling for a table and completing our meal... we strolled down road... guess what. There are other restaurants 1 min walk away. I would recommend Giovanni only if the line is a decent wait. DO NOT wait one hour. Your tourist time is too valuable to waste in line.

Be prepared to wait, since there's only one person taking orders at the main counter. There is another ordering station on the opposite side of the building (away from the ocean), which may have a shorter line. We ordered the fish and chips, coconut shrimp, oysters, and clam chowder. The fish and chips were really good and the fries had a nice crispy coating. The coconut shrimp and oysters were also delicious. The clam chowder was just okay in my opinion, it was a little too thick for my taste. It's a casual, local seafood spot with a fast-food style setup: you order at the counter, grab your food when it's ready, and find your own seat. The view of the ocean and dock is beautiful.

Debated about which place to have a meal at Morro Bay, since was just dropping by for few hours. There's so many restaurants so not easy to pick one for a meal. This place seemed to be the most iconic and being at the end/start of the strip, it definitely had the most folks, lol. The back/side of the building had another window for ordering take out. Seemed to be same/similar menu as the waterfront side, and pretty much no line, so maybe worth getting food there to avoid the long wait. Since it was my first time, figured might as well be the lemming and line up in the front like all the other tourists, lol. Tables available waterfront, behind plexiglass windows. - Clam chowder = not much real cream to it, but was still decent. - Oysters and chips = large tasty fried oysters, yum. - Combo and chips = pretty good combo of items, can't go wrong with fried food for me, lol. - Aloha poke tuna = didn't expect much but this ended up being my fav order. Tuna was good quality and fresh and overall bowl made it very delicious! Great counter to the fried to achieve some yin yang balance to the meal.

Great seafood market with a nice selection of dishes to choose from. I got a poke bowl 1/2 tuna 1/2 salmon. I got it aloha style which means they add avocado, eel sauce, spicy mayo, and green onion. It was as good as any place that just specializes in poke. My wife had the Combo and Chips that has fish, shrimp, calamari, and scallops. Everything was well prepared and definitely worth price. Our order taker was friendly and the guy calling out the pick up orders was very nice and very generous offering things like malted vinegar, hot sauce, and other condiments. We ate on the patio which is dog friendly and has a lot of seating.

We had lunch here after reading reviews on Yelp. There are 2 windows you can order from; one was right by the water and another around the back where there are seatings. Service was friendly. You'd order at the window and pick-up from another one. So glad they provided shades for outdoor seatings because the weather was really warm. Crispy halibut tacos - There were a LOT of cabbages on each that were unnecessary imo. Halibut was ok. Not much flavor. 2/5. Bang bang shrimp rice bowl - Spicy and tasty but the whole bowl was drenched in aioli so it was overwhelming to try to finish it. 3/5.

As Cal Poly SLO Alumni I truly believe this is the epitome of quality in terms of what type of food options are available. I never see this place without a line and rightfully so! The ambiance is perfect with so much sea life and an ocean view while you eat and that really NICE ROCK. I never tire of hearing the seals in the background and enjoying the seagulls begging for food. Absolute 5/5 perfect rating, it is a non negotiable whenever I return to the city of SLO Surf and Turf Burrito: 10/10 Garlic Fries : 10/10 Clam Chowder: 10/10 Fish Burrito : 9.5/10 Fish Tacos : 9.5 / 10 Surf and Turf burrito flavor profile has the depth and complexity and my soul enjoys the most! Clam chowder is of course distributed by Splash aka always a classic. I love how they make their fries crunchy on the outside and when you bite into it, the texture inside is shoft potatoe. Personally loved the fish burrito and tacos but they can't compare to my favorite item. JD Big Back Tip: Bring a water bottle filled up. They may a water dispenser that runs out quickly and they are very busy to refill it. They do sell bottled water or other beverages there as well. Would reccomend a jacket as well as it does get windy right by the ocean.

this fish market is a great spot to visit for fish dishes and great views of Morro rock from the seating area. the snapper burrito was amazing, comparable to the burritos at Wahoo's chain. poke was mid; not too many toppings and the fish didn't have that strong salmon flavor. however, this is a fish market and not a poke house so I cut some slack. the staff were friendly and efficient. there is only outdoor self seating but doesn't require a purchase to sit and enjoy the nice view! would recommend for first timers visiting Morro Bay.

Ordered the combo poke bowl (tuna/salmon), added aloha style for $3 extra plus pineapple and I made it spicy..... soooo good!!!! Generous portion, very fresh, every bite was loaded!!!!! The fire cracker shrimp bowl was just as delicious!!!! Spicy, juicy shrimp and a whole lot of them!!! Line gets long, but it flows pretty smoothly. Plenty of seating offered, very friendly order taker, overall a great place to eat!!!!

In the continued search for good clam chowder, we stopped here for one of the many meals we'll be having this weekend. The menu is extensive but I only had one thing in mind and thus I got the CLAM CHOWDER BOWL $6.99 and HALIBUT fish and chips $24.99 plus $2 garlic fries upgrade. Sorry to say this place is as many have said, a tourist trap. The halibut batter lacked seasoning it was practically tasteless. It's freshly fried however. Fries upgrade helped the fries only. The entire basket didn't taste much like anything and the tartar didn't help. The clam chowder was very salty. And I mean, very. It barely had clams in it and didn't taste rich and mostly had big cubes of potato. It was disappointing. The lines can get very long very fast. They have a good spot with greats views or Morro Rock. Parking is free everywhere to my knowledge.

Giovanni's Fish Market & Galley is one of my favorite local food spots to visit whenever I'm in Morro Bay. The food is always fresh and delicious, with plenty of options for my family. It can get busy, but it's definitely worth it. The views are beautiful Morro Rock and watching the fishing boats and old stacks while you eat. Great food and always fresh seafood

Unfortunately, each visit has felt a little less impressive than the one before it, and this most recent experience was disappointing enough that I probably would not return. Parking is usually easy, and I have never had to walk more than a couple of minutes. There are also a couple of EV spaces nearby. When my girlfriend and I walked inside, the restaurant felt unusually warm, humid, and stuffy. It was uncomfortable enough that we briefly considered leaving. We chose outdoor seating instead, but that comes with its own drawbacks. The tables are exposed to the afternoon sun, pedestrians walk just feet away, vehicles pass close by, and the working dock is nearby, so you hear forklifts, unloading equipment, and active fishing operations throughout the meal. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller, which I have ordered on all three visits. They were good and are honestly one of the main reasons I have continued returning. They are not easy to find where I live, and this version is enjoyable, even if it is not on the level of what I have had in places like New Orleans. My girlfriend ordered the clam chowder with bacon. We have been comparing clam chowders around the Central Coast, and unfortunately this one ranked last among the several we have tried so far. She described it as average and nothing memorable. I ordered the steamer clams, and this was easily the biggest disappointment. The very first clam I ate had noticeable grit in it, and unfortunately that continued through most of the bowl. I would estimate that the majority of the clams had some amount of sand or grit, which made them unpleasant to eat. I also found one clam that remained completely closed after cooking. I left it untouched. At a restaurant specializing in seafood, I expected more careful preparation and inspection. The broth was also surprisingly bland. I ended up adding hot sauce just to give it more flavor. As I worked through the broth, I also noticed three small hairs. I cannot say where they came from, but finding multiple hairs in the same dish was understandably concerning and further reduced my appetite. The service did not help. Our server took our order, delivered drinks and food, and eventually brought the check, but there was very little interaction between those points. No one checked whether we needed anything or asked how the food was going. That was especially frustrating because if someone had checked in, I would have had an opportunity to mention the problems with the clams while I was eating them. Overall, the Oysters Rockefeller were still good, but almost everything else about this visit was disappointing: the uncomfortable indoor environment, noisy outdoor seating, average chowder, gritty clams, bland broth, cleanliness concerns, and minimal service. I have enjoyed this restaurant more in the past, but after this experience, I think there are other places around Morro Bay where I would rather spend my money.

When we entered the dog-friendly patio with our little Goldendoodle, Bailey, a large dog seated at the table closest to the only patio entrance lunged toward her and bared its teeth. Since it was the only way in and out, I let the staff know I was concerned. They immediately spoke with the owners, who moved their dogs farther under the table, and after our meal, the owner's father went above and beyond by opening the rope barriers so we could exit another way and avoid walking past them again. Both the father and son were incredibly kind, understanding, and accommodating, which we really appreciated. Once we were settled, we were able to enjoy the beautiful patio. It's a quaint waterfront spot with gorgeous views, a relaxing atmosphere, and the perfect setting to enjoy fresh seafood. Bailey was promptly brought a complimentary bowl of water, and we loved seeing so many other well-behaved dogs enjoying the patio. It's easy to see why this restaurant has such a great reputation for being dog friendly. We ordered the King Salmon Quesadilla special, and it was absolutely delicious. It was packed with generous portions of fresh salmon, plenty of melted cheese, and vegetables, and it was more than enough for my mom and me to share. My brother also really enjoyed the tri-tip sandwich. Everything tasted fresh and was served hot. While we wish the aggressive dogs had been seated somewhere other than the only entrance to the patio, that wasn't the restaurant's fault, and they handled the situation as well as they could. Between the excellent food, beautiful waterfront setting, dog-friendly atmosphere, and genuinely caring owners, we had a great overall experience and would happily return.

On a quick day trip on a Friday afternoon, we decided to give this place a try. No reservation and were promptly greeted and seated. Although we did not have a full bay view, we had a partial bay view. Some hits and misses with food and service. 1. Bowl of Clam Chowder (no bread bowls available). Chowder was piping hot and had nice pieces of clams (dad got a bit of clam shell..so be careful), celery and potatoes. The chowder was very creamy and not grainy or watery like other locations. I would definitely order again 5/5 2. Fish & Chips: Fresh Pacific cod, lightly breaded, served with house-made tartar sauce. Fish was fried to perfection. 5/5 3. Seafood Pasta: Linguini with jumbo prawns, fresh catch, Cajun cream sauce, garlic bread. Everything tasted fresh and seasoned perfectly 5/5 4. Side of Garlic bread: extremely disappointing. We ordered garlic bread with our chowder, it never came. Waitress decided to serve it with the mains (fish and chips) and we ordered for the entire table and she only brought 2 pieces. 5. Insalata Molina: Mixed greens, arugula, pear, walnuts, crumbled blue cheese, mango vinaigrette. Couldn't tell you if this was any good bc the waitress NEVER brought but charged us for it. She then takes it off the bill and brings me the salad in a Styrofoam container. I told her I didn't want it and put it in my bag. Salad was so soggy (which means the kitchen prepared it and the waitress forgot to serve it) I would not order and do not recommend ordering it bc it was the size of a side salad definitely not worth the price point. 6. Mocktail Lavender lemonade: definitely not balanced, was pretty tart and again the price point was off. It was about 8oz lemonade for $12 They do offer a nice selection of wines. Restrooms are located outside the restaurant and are public restrooms, pretty dirty and out of stock. Although our service was a big miss, I do recommend the food items we ordered. I did take a star off due to the service.

Calamari and chips was yummy. They did NOT overcook the calamari. I hate it when it's super chewy…read more Friendly people Plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the view

Tried out the new-to-me Take Out Express part of Giovanni's. First off, it was difficult to park,…read moreno handicapped spots nearby so I had to park on the street. That would have been fine, but they have their part of the curve roped off and I would have had to either hop over the rope or walk around. Not very easy for someone with a bad foot. I ordered a cheeseburger & tater tots and chicken strips & fries. There are tables with umbrellas where you can sit while you dine or while you wait for your electronic thingy to go off. There were lots of diners, mostly tourists. The cashier was saying he had worked there for 18 and a 1/2 years while selling up people's orders. Since there was a credit card fee I paid cash, but I missed the fact that they charge for to-go packaging!! And, there is no free refills on sodas. I went to Dollar Tree to buy soda instead. The order took a long time, which doesn't surprise me since there were lots of folks there, and they might share the kitchen with Giovanni's Fish Marker around the corner. The tater tots were not done, should have been crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, right? The burger was not good, the romaine lettuce was totally cooked. The chicken strips were passable, the fries seemed to be battered but they were too soft after sitting in the to-go container with the lid closed. I probably won't come here again, sorry.
