Debated about which place to have a meal at Morro Bay, since was just dropping by for few hours. There's so many restaurants so not easy to pick one for a meal. This place seemed to be the most iconic and being at the end/start of the strip, it definitely had the most folks, lol. The back/side of the building had another window for ordering take out. Seemed to be same/similar menu as the waterfront side, and pretty much no line, so maybe worth getting food there to avoid the long wait. Since it was my first time, figured might as well be the lemming and line up in the front like all the other tourists, lol. Tables available waterfront, behind plexiglass windows. - Clam chowder = not much real cream to it, but was still decent. - Oysters and chips = large tasty fried oysters, yum. - Combo and chips = pretty good combo of items, can't go wrong with fried food for me, lol. - Aloha poke tuna = didn't expect much but this ended up being my fav order. Tuna was good quality and fresh and overall bowl made it very delicious! Great counter to the fried to achieve some yin yang balance to the meal.

We had lunch here after reading reviews on Yelp. There are 2 windows you can order from; one was right by the water and another around the back where there are seatings. Service was friendly. You'd order at the window and pick-up from another one. So glad they provided shades for outdoor seatings because the weather was really warm. Crispy halibut tacos - There were a LOT of cabbages on each that were unnecessary imo. Halibut was ok. Not much flavor. 2/5. Bang bang shrimp rice bowl - Spicy and tasty but the whole bowl was drenched in aioli so it was overwhelming to try to finish it. 3/5.

Ordered the combo poke bowl (tuna/salmon), added aloha style for $3 extra plus pineapple and I made it spicy..... soooo good!!!! Generous portion, very fresh, every bite was loaded!!!!! The fire cracker shrimp bowl was just as delicious!!!! Spicy, juicy shrimp and a whole lot of them!!! Line gets long, but it flows pretty smoothly. Plenty of seating offered, very friendly order taker, overall a great place to eat!!!!

In the continued search for good clam chowder, we stopped here for one of the many meals we'll be having this weekend. The menu is extensive but I only had one thing in mind and thus I got the CLAM CHOWDER BOWL $6.99 and HALIBUT fish and chips $24.99 plus $2 garlic fries upgrade. Sorry to say this place is as many have said, a tourist trap. The halibut batter lacked seasoning it was practically tasteless. It's freshly fried however. Fries upgrade helped the fries only. The entire basket didn't taste much like anything and the tartar didn't help. The clam chowder was very salty. And I mean, very. It barely had clams in it and didn't taste rich and mostly had big cubes of potato. It was disappointing. The lines can get very long very fast. They have a good spot with greats views or Morro Rock. Parking is free everywhere to my knowledge.

While in town for 4 days I decided to order the fried combo with chips along with a bread bowl of chowder and a cup of chowder. The gentleman taking the order was friendly and engaging. I ordered and sat on one of the outsides benches outside. This was a grab n go style. In the fried combo there was fish, scallop, shrimp and french fries. All the items were very fresh and nicely fried. Clam chowder had a lot of flavor and hearty, however the sourdough bread in came in...it was stale. Overall if in the area and want a quick bite give this place a try. They have abundance of options and seating outside is plenty.

no complaints! Quick easy service , you order at the window , they call your order . What i love most is the outside view of the bay and morro bay rock . Most places where you get such views can get away with charging 2x the price on food . Oysters were some of the freshest i've eaten and i regret not getting more !! Albacore and chips special was very fresh and tasty , Sometimes deep fried foods feel super heavy but this wasn't at all! Super soft tender fish , perfectly cooked fries. The coleslaw is amazing so fresh and cold it almost hurts your teeth . They let you have as much fixings as you please . Friendly staff:) I really have nothing bad to say , full meal was around 25$ ! Next time i make the drive down from santa barbara i will definitely be eating here again !

We have frequented this spot and decided to try a couple new things. The typical is fish and chips which is a solid standard meal. However today we tried a couple poke bowls which were large and very flavorful. Service is also quite fast but get there early because the line to order can get real long. What was disappointing was the size of the shrimp/crab combo cocktail. Totally not worth the prices it's tiny.

Been coming here for years and this place stays consistently good. Had the charbroiled oysters and the raw oysters. Both were delicious but of course the raw was best. Got the half crab special and it came with the very creamy and tasty clam chowder. Sat outside with a nice view and enjoyed their ice cold pitcher of beer. Service is quick and the employees are all very nice.

We stopped by Giovanni's for the first time during our trip to Morro Bay and were really glad we did. The fish & chips were the star of the meal, light, crispy, and full of flavor, with perfectly tender fish. The oysters were fresh and delicious without any sauce, the clam chowder was hearty and flavorful, and the crab quesadilla was loaded with crab in every bite. Nothing felt overly fancy, just fresh seafood done right. We'll definitely make this a regular stop whenever we're back in town.

It was time to put Fresno in the rear view mirror and spend some time on the coast, what better place than Morro Bay. I was craving a fresh crab sandwich and looked up restaurants on Yelp, Giovanni's caught (wink) my attention, the 2+ hour drive went by quickly and parking was a snap. The line to order was light and ordering was painless, I left a good tip in the jar, received my beer and located a table next to the viewing window, the order was just minutes away and in no time I was ready to enjoy a seaside lunch. The garlic fries were my first try and I must say they lived up to their name (((WOW))) delicious and with a few sips of the beer my journey to seafood land began. As you see in the pictures the meal was laid out very nicely and perfectly cooked. I used a fork for the fries because the garlic mix was abundant and I was trying to keep the food off my fingers. The crab sandwich was fabulous and paired well with the garlic fries and a Modelo beer, I loved the crunch of the fried crab and the flavor of the sauce mingled with the roll, with the nutritional voyage on the way I was enjoying the bay with sailboats and chartered sea craft passing by, yes the scenery only added to the enjoyment, something never available inland.

Giovanni's definitely lives up to the hype. The poke was excellent, super fresh and made with top quality fish. You can really taste the difference in every bite. The texture and flavor were on point, and everything tasted clean and well prepared. It's clearly a popular tourist destination, so expect it to be busy. You walk up to order at the counter and then wait for your number to be called, which keeps things moving even with the crowds.

Continuing our trek down to LA, we stopped in Morro Bay to catch some beautiful ocean views and some delicious seafood. Giovanni's came highly recommended online so we were eager to give them a try. We arrived an hour before closing, so the lines weren't long at all thankfully. Despite that, we chose to order from their side takeout window to ensure our food came quickly (we were hungry lol). We got the fish & chips (upgraded the fries to garlic fries -- highly recommend), clam chowder, and poke bites. While I'd skip the poke bites next time, the fish & (garlic) chips were so good. The fish was buttery and flaky, and their housemade tartar sauce was delicious. The garlic fries were some of the best I had, beating out Gilroy Garlic Fries at Giant's game for me (sorry!). Definitely worth a stop in Morro Bay, just be wary of potential lines depending on time and day.

Live music compliments from a man with his guitar on a sunny sunsetting Friday afternoon and since they are dockside, you get to see the fishermen at work close by and it really provides the environment of a seaside town without it being overpriced and pretentious. We originally ordered a set of 4 grilled oysters, clam chowder, and as recommended by the cashier, a couple of the smoked shrimp tacos. The oysters were grilled to perfection with butter and garlic. Not dry at all and still juicy. The oysters were well shucked (no pieces of the shell ended up on the oyster) and it was already detached for easy eating. The smoked shrimp tacos were a great recommendation. I think the seasoning wasn't too complicated; salt, pepper, and a paprika to really let the shrimp do most of the talking. As for the clam chowder, I think it was okay. Came there only for the oysters anyways. As mentioned, we initially got a set of 4 grilled oysters but they were so good that we ended up coming back 30 minutes later to get 6 more after getting our last few pictures of the sunset next to Morro Rock. As for service, this is a take-out only joint, so besides the cashier taking your order, the bussers making sure the outside tables are clean to keep the seabirds away, and you picking up your own order, there is nothing more than that. Will be dreaming about those grilled oysters until we come back.
