I attended a five course wine pairing dinner hosted by carbon venom 121. This was a private ticketed event, and the restaurant was closed to the public throughout. We j‍dined at a long community style table and enjoyed an amazing selection of food. The service was out of this world and the owner actually joined us for the meal. There is no other place in Rowan County to have this type of experience. The restaurant recently hired a new chef who has been nominated for multiple Michelin stars. The chef and the Somalia, who was visiting from Napa Valley came out before each course and described what we were enjoying guests had the opportunity to ask questions and walked away with a wealth of food and wine knowledge. The restaurant itself was absolutely beautiful with fresh flowers and candles, creating an intimate and relaxed environment. If you have not had a chance to enjoy carpet venom 121 you are really missing out. This restaurant is on the price of your side for this area but is well worth it.

We were in town just one night for an event and our hotel was surrounded by chain restaurants and fast food. Fine, if that's what you're up for. We wanted something small, a local favorite, maybe a little special. Carpe Vinum 121 was that place. We didn't have a reservation but were able to sit at the bar after a short wait. The staff was welcoming and the other patrons (obviously regulars) were up for conversation. We ordered old fashions to drink and noticed Demerara sugar cubes were muddled in preparation, nice! I stated with a burata frisée salad and it was so fresh and herbal. My husband ordered the crawfish bisque - it was rich yet light and delicious. Main entrees were scallops and steak brochette. Both were done perfectly. The scallops had a nice risotto and finished with chili oil crunch. Dessert was dulce de leche cheesecake and it was smooth and sweet. Definitely a popular date night place, we did see at least one little one, so families certainly seem welcome. It was fancy without being uncomfortable quiet fancy. The surrounding businesses and street are inviting. Parking might be an issue on a busy night but we found parking right out front. We throughly enjoyed our visit.

We just moved here from a big city and found this spot to be most similar to the types of restaurants we frequented. It seems this spot is upscale for the area but well loved and supported. I would describe it as simple and bistro like. Not fine dining. We tried their Sunday brunch and enjoyed it. I could tell the chef put thought into the menu items. My only complaint is i wish they had some starters on their brunch menu, we wanted to try more food lol. Everything was very delicious and we finished our plates for sure. We'll definitely be back for both lunch and dinner.

Stopped in for a quick drink and snack. This place is really coming into its own new identity. Drinks, service and food were all very good.

Our travels to the American Legion Regional baseball tournament took us from Charlotte to Asheboro NC. As we drove, we looked for a place to stop for lunch that wasn't a chain. Wow were we lucky to stumble upon Carpe Vinum! My wife and I had a wonderful and tasty lunch as well as a nice visit with one of the owners as she worked the bar where we sat. It was exactly what we were looking for after a long day of travels. Thanks!!

This is a place for you to take that special someone when you don't want to go to the big city. You get all the atmosphere of elegance and sophistication. The service was friendly and quick. Though we tend to expect large amounts of food on our plates, what I ordered was delicious and satisfying. It has been quite some time since I have tasted real Safran in a dish, and my taste buds went into shock. Next time, I will try the escargo.

Stopped in for drinks and enjoyed both some nice wine as well as a selection of hand crafted cocktails. The bar is well stocked and the cocktails are properly made from fresh ingredients. The menu looked both large and high quality. There are a lot of gluten free options which is always nice for us. We will bring our friends back to eat here for sure. They seemed popular and it looks like reservations are essentially required in order to get a seat, so keep that in mind.

If I could give this restaurant a sixth star, I would! The food was absolutely amazing, but the service was even better. The staff went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect--even the bartender came over at one point because she thought we might need something. For dessert, we decided to try a port, and the owner personally came over to explain the differences and offer recommendations, which made the experience even more special. It was a fantastic evening from start to finish. I visited last year under different ownership, and I have to say, it's even better now! If you go, be sure to try the lamb!

Took a while to come out but when it did, wowzers. Nice and hot, just cooked. And the aroma pulls one in. Then found them to be tasty / flavorful and moist both excellent qualities. Both excellent with the lamb being a tad bit more. Rather salty, possibly tad much but oh so delish. A delight to eat. Will definitely try this place again and try another offerings which seem geared to basic but good offerings as see good percentage of menu falls under : sandwiches, wraps, salads, fried chicken. And it always was delicious. I was so glad to finally learn they had a Concord location. The inside of the restaurant is kind of like a really clean fast food restaurant with a bar. Not a bad look but it definitely speaks to a casual vibe. Service was very quick. I ordered the gyro plate lunch special and let me tell you, it is a LOT of food. Very delicious food I might add. You definitely get your money's worth here. In fact I would say it's about as expensive as eating at one of the higher end fast food joints Anytime I get a hankering for gyros, I know where to go.

Upon starting to eat my lunch, I realized that the two extra dressings I paid for were not in the bag and that the drink was made incorrectly, which I requested I have sweet and have unsweet tea. Today I go to pick up my order and I informed a different young lady that came to the window that I had an issue with the order last week and I would just simply like for them to make sure my drink was made correctly today and that the two dressings that I paid for last week were included at this time. She offered to give me an extra drink since the one was made incorrectly last week and I declined because I am not in need of an extra drink. I just wanted my drink order to be made correctly today.I get back to my desk to begin to eat my lunch and I realize that there is a dark brown or black loose wave curly hair emerged into my salad under a tomato (I have straight hair). I called back and was told I could not be refunded because the manager/owner was not there and that the only option was to get a replacement meal. Granted I'm on my lunch break on a time crunch. I went back to get the replacement meal and a different young lady came to the window to ask what I needed to help with. I told her I was returning a plate of food that had hair in it and instead of an apology or saying sorry for the inconvenience she just turned around, grab the replacement meal and put the bag out the window. In summary, two weeks in a row something was not right with my order and today the Customer Service experience was poor. Hopefully in the future if a customer expresses that there is an issue with their food and they are on a time crunch because they're at work that they will be better accommodated than I was today because I have now missed my whole lunch break due to something that was out of my control.

So when I discovered Halal Food 2 Go parked at 815 Waughtown Street in Winston-Salem, I wasn't just pleasantly surprised -- I was genuinely moved. Over six years and countless visits later, this orange truck has earned a permanent place in my heart, my stomach, and my weekly routine. And I say this with full confidence: this is the best food truck in North Carolina. This is not watered-down, play-it-safe street food. The menu at Halal Food 2 Go is a genuine celebration of authentic halal cuisine, and every dish is made with the kind of care you'd expect from a family that has been perfecting these recipes for generations. The chapli kebab is a masterpiece -- fragrant, perfectly spiced, with a beautifully seared exterior and a juicy, complex interior that reminds you why this dish has endured for centuries. The seekh kabobs over rice are equally incredible, layered with deep flavor and finished with that signature white sauce that ties everything together. And the classic chicken or lamb over rice? An absolute staple. Tender, well-seasoned meat over fluffy, fragrant rice, served with fresh salad and soft, pillowy pita bread -- it's a complete meal that satisfies on every level. The portions are generous, the price is unbeatable, and the quality never, ever wavers. In a world where restaurants peak and fade, where quality slips the moment the hype dies down, Halal Food 2 Go stands in a category of its own. For over six years, every single visit has delivered the same exceptional standard -- the same bold flavors, the same fresh ingredients, the same pride in every plate. That kind of consistency isn't luck. It's a commitment, and this family honors it every single day the truck is open. Whether it's a quiet Tuesday afternoon or a packed Friday lunch rush, you know exactly what you're getting -- and it's always outstanding. What truly elevates this experience beyond just great food is the family behind it. Hamad and the crew are some of the warmest, most accommodating people you'll ever meet at a food truck -- or anywhere, for that matter. They treat every customer like a regular, even on your very first visit. They're generous, kind, and genuinely happy to be there serving you. In a city that's still discovering its food culture, this truck brings not just incredible meals but real human connection. That combination of great food and great people is rare, and it's exactly why I keep coming back year after year. On top of everything else, this truck operates with impressive efficiency. The turnaround on orders is remarkably quick -- no long waits, no confusion, no stress. And the fact that you can call ahead at (336) 934-1100 to place your order makes this one of the most convenient dining options in Winston-Salem, full stop. Open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 AM and Sundays from 11:00 AM, there's almost always a window to stop by and get your fix. Yes, it's takeout only -- no tables, no chairs, no frills. But that's the beauty of it. This is honest, soulful food served straight from the source, the way street food is meant to be experienced. Grab your plate, find a spot in the sun, and eat like a New Yorker. Some of the most memorable meals don't happen in fancy dining rooms -- they happen at a little orange truck on Waughtown Street, made by people who genuinely love what they do. Don't walk past it. Stop, order, and thank yourself later.
