So the pics I have doesn't do this place justice. This place is not only our hall we're we meet up once a week. And discuss what is going on. It's also the apprenticeship classes for many carpenter based classes and courses. If you want to work on drywall be a framer or work on freeway bridges. This is where it's taught in depth and hands on. You just need to join and get indentured . The classes are free part of your 4 year apprenticeship. If they don't have the class you need they will either make it or tell where you can get it at.( a different local). Since there are 7 different carpenter Apprenticeship buildings within 1 1/2 hours away. The secretaries are great here always helping you with a smile. They are very courteous and very knowledgeable. They can guide you with your healthcare or whatever you need. The agents are always making sure they are working towards Carpenter Economics. Making sure we are United in our goals of Jobs, Wages and Benefits. They let the American Red Cross cross come and set up for the members and family and friends to come donate. They also open the outside during Halloween and give the members family a place safe for their kids to enjoy. This place is friendly and strong on education of its members. You get to learn the techniques you need to be successful. So you can be a better bang for the buck. read more

I honestly am completely disgusted by how local 714 operates. I pushed my boyfriend into joining the union based on my Fathers experience. I had NO idea how much had changed! My Dad was NEVER out of work, was with the same company his whole career & had amazing benefits & retirement. Now, my poor guy (who is the hardest worker I know) it getting bounced around between companies constantly with super long periods of not working at all! How can they do this to their people? How do they expect people to survive being out of work for months ata time?? Its disgusting and wrong. He's about ready to jump ship & go non union & I fully support it. Shame on them! DONT BE CON'D BY THESE PEOPLE! STAY AWAYYYYYYY!!! Out of all the places I've ever worked this had to be the biggest scam I've ever dealt with. The peacock in the offices. Are such pricks. All of them have an attitude and act like you are beneath you. What no one tells you before you start is how much money they will take out of your HOURLY paycheck. I was making $24 an hour which he isn't bad right? Would you like to know how much I was getting after taxes and after they took out vacation and there dues? $11 an hour. If I was told that at the beginning I would of NEVER accepted the job. Oh btw you ALSO have to pay monthly to the Union AND go to their crap MANDATORY meetings. Which some are on WEEKENDS AND WEEKDAYS and guess what THEY ARE NOT PAID. This place sucks. They con you and make it out to seem like it's such an amazing place to be but it's crap if you sit back and really think about. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy. Honestly if you have LITERALLY nothing else in life going for you and have no other options then I guess take this job but McDonald's down the street pays more. Only PRO to this Sh*t Hole is their benefits that I never received since I wasn't there long enough. Oh and 1 last thing. If you quit the Union before the Vacation pay out you have to wait till July or December to get your money. My comment earlier was from 6 years ago when things where good , Covid really messed things up and it also sucks how politically involved they are (making us vote Biden ) and look at it now , our scale isn't keeping up with inflation , half the good people in the hall got fired due to a corrupt president we had who was stealing money and material to fulfill his side work buissness ( mind you we can't do that or we get fined/have to see the committee ) I'm sure a lot of you know who it was Tom Rodriguez .which I think he's still trolling in there back in the president spot . The benefits are ok , don't understand how we are high risk out on the field for injury yet we still have ridiculous co pays and limited coverage , our dental sucks terribly about 200$ for a cleaning, vision as well doesn't cover much yet the BAs get double pension , better care , all the fancy outfits provided by the union to sit behind the desk . The nepotism between company's is INSANE . A lot of family members working who are absolutely trash and if you don't kiss ass you won't keep a job . They wanna overwork out and hold it over your head we can find someone else who will put in the time meaning two checks /laid off . Didn't like working my ass off to get laid off . I wish our hall would do more for the member but they give and do the bare minimum and when asked for support they say join the teachers union . Not only was the vaccine forced on you it was get it or you can't access your benefits or enter the union facility's , apprentices in class couldn't go into the class unless they had the shot . They need to leave politics out the window and focus more on bettering the brother hood like they say they do . To much weird shit going on behind closed there and the only people really benefiting are the people in the hall . If you're looking for a job where you WILL be over worked , develop back and neck problems, be at high risk of injury with mediocre coverage and constantly worrying about being laid off no matter your performance then you found the right spot . You already give your money away to the government, don't give it to this either . Once you journey out that's it your stuck at that wage and there's no light at the end of the tunnel . And same for them take it from me , there's no work currently and a lot of members waiting for work , reason union scale is too expensive and company's saving a buck or two go NON UNION which they pay you just as good with no cap , and will treat you better since you won't be just another number in their system . Make money for you not them . I lasted 14 years here but due to all this bullshit I stated and there's more I left . Found something better and validated my insecurities and became a superintendent for a smaller company , company I worked for was Dpr which was solid but now has hired a bunch of non union rats and given them journey man cards while a lot of us had to go through the 4 year program . Oh well only a matter of time till the union is no more the rate this state it going with the supporter the union voted for ... the union and joe have a lot of similarity's both think they are running something good but from the field , it's not .... read more

These people really do a good job. Rocky in this office was super helpful both in joining and withdrawing for a special Scenic gig @ Disney. She remembered all of us and helped us out individually to navigate paperwork- applications and withdrawals. In these days of Union bashing I would like to give a shout out to the hard-working staff who try to keep their brothers and sisters employed and run a good business. Bravo. read more

My father is a retired pile driver out of local 2375 which became carpenters local 562. He steered me in the direction of being a union carpenter out of high school. When I came to office to put in my application and pick up the where's the work list one of secretaries asked me do you want to own your own home? Buy a boat? Drive a brand new truck? Do you want to have financial security for yourself and your family? If you do good here you'll have it all. She wasn't lying. We go through a four year apprenticeship to be the highest skilled worker in our trade with a skill set that can be taken anywhere in the United States and abroad. Sky's the limit on where you can take it. From starting your own construction company or owning a million dollar home in Huntington Beach it's your choice. Not only will they teach you how to build a bridge or a high rise but here you'll learn to build yourself up as well. I was raised off of union money and my children will be as well. My husband has been a Union member for years - over 25+ years. This review is for the worst most atrocious customer service by their admin Rocky- she refused to give me her last name Or the opportunity to speak to someone else. She was rude obnoxious and just flat out disrespectful to the wife of a member- is that how this Union handles its members ? My husband was behind by error and the job site had told him something else as to the amount he owed. obviously there was miscommunication- but the way she spoke to me was so demeaning and instead of saying "sorry you got bad information- she went off telling me I was wrong when I asked her Why was she being so rude - she told me I was "bent because she wasn't going to do what I wanted and that I needed to get over it and if I want my husband to continue working - this is what I had to pay" so she was holding my financial fate in her hands casting down her ultimatum? Pay or don't work? I asked to speak to someone else she told me there was no one else to speak to I asked her Last name so I could call her supervisor- she told me I didn't need to know and she wasn't going to give it to me. I'm sorry but is this how you allow your staff to speak to the wives of union members? Don't worry Rocky by husband company will take care of this complaint along with his BA. Unions suck. They cost everyone money. There strong arm techniques are way too old. They cost way too much money under contract to do something anybody can do. And if you don't agree with them they sent 3 Mexicans to sit out in for anywhere job site to pick it you and make you look bad.
