It's now June so I've had time to settle in with my carpet and wanted to provide a review of the experience. I read lots of reviews and research things to death before I make a decision so I don't give people a high rating just to be "nice". I also consider myself to be be a little hard to please because I'm used to doing a lot of work on my home myself and I have a high standard of quality while being thrifty. That being said, I shopped around a few quotes and came back to FlooringRVA. Long story short...I felt the price I paid for what I wanted was spot on. I had a good experience with the two man crew that came to install the carpet and padding. And 6 months later things are still meeting my expectations. Robert, the owner, was the real reason behind going with FlooringRVA a second time. He personally came to measure and offer suggestions. I preferred to text and Robert made himself available at all times throughout the day when I had questions. I didn't always expect an immediate response but one was always received. I could tell he and his staff were committed to my being satisfied throughout every step in the process and I couldn't find that level of customer focus with any other competitor. They said they would send a check to cover the cost of the painting (previously, the sent the painter out and had him bill their business). The check has yet to arrive and I question whether it will actually cover the cost of the paint job, should it ever actually come.

Because I do have some updates to note :) Here is the review from before: Those of us who are new or existing homeowners know how hard renovations can be. Unexpected problems can pop up anywhere and whatever you plan as far as budget goes...well plan again. With that being said, Shady Grove Flooring was like a breath of fresh air during a very stressful time for my family. Aaron, the owner, was very nice and professional and did his very best to work with us and within our budget. He kept us apprised of every step and made the whole process of installing/renewing wood floors seem easy, when I know it is anything but easy. My mother and father flipped houses when I was in middle and high school so I know enough to be dangerous. Despite my eclectic "knowledge" gleaned from my eccentric parents and obsession with all things HGTV, I did have quite a few questions about my floors. Any questions I brought up to Aaron, he was quick to answer, and he did so in a very friendly, non condescending way. As a woman I have had my fair share of condescending contractors- it seems part and parcel of being a woman and being interested in renovations. Heck, I can't walk into HD a not be talked down to at least once. But Aaron and his team at Shady Grove Flooring were not in any way disrespectful. He took his time to explain to me things I do not understand. I have enough humility to admit that I don't know everything there is to know about wood floors and installing them. After all, I'm a writer. Not a wood floor installer. Shady Grove Flooring were very respectful to me and my family and I felt safe being in the house with them, which is also something that as a woman I have had my share of uncomfortable experiences with. In addition to his friendliness and professionalism, Aaron's work is unparalleled. To be frank, it is gorgeous! I have seen bad flooring jobs before, heck I have lived in them, and I can safely say that the work Shady Grove Flooring did for us was absolutely beautiful and exactly what we agreed upon. Picky Hubby has no complaints when it comes to our floors. And the pricing was reasonable and competitive. I would definitely recommend Shady Grove Flooring to friends and family. Okay so now for updates. Shady Grove Flooring is still as amazing as ever. I don't have them time or inclination to go into the craziness of every step of the install jobs we've had done in the last few years but I can say that SGF has been a gem each time. I'm super picky and indecisive with my flooring choices and even with the stress of COVID, Aaron has not lost his patience with me. He and his team used masks and were very safe when they worked for us during the pandemic, which is good. We had some sub flooring issues where the builders cheaped out on the grout for our bathroom floor. The tile cracked and then there was a giant hole to the crawl space where years of standing water literally ate away at the floor. Aaron fixed the subflooring and gave us a great tile guy to come fix the floors in the bathroom. No more hole in our bathroom or our wallets! Yay Aaron! Yay Shady Grove Flooring! Yay us! PS- the pics show the floor BEFORE SGF fixed it. I didn't get a picture of it after because there is tile over it and well my phone isn't an x-ray phone. Take that one up with Apple. Not me.

I followed their instructions and contacted them right away (today 3/23/26) since spring began this past weekend, only to be told they can't fit me in until the fall--which completely contradicts what I was originally told about the proper timing for Bermuda grass. To make matters more frustrating, I was then told I should have called 6-8 weeks ago and they could have done it, even though that directly conflicts with their original guidance. Overall, this experience has been very frustrating due to the inconsistent information and lack of follow-through. I was ready to move forward based on their recommendations, but unfortunately, they did not stand by what they initially told me.

We had Skyline install eight Okna 500 series double paned windows on our sun room. They were…read morepunctual for the estimate, measuring, and installation. Plus, they correspond electronically which I love - sorry, I just don't like to talk to people :) We signed the contract in October with a 14-16 week installation schedule due to COVID. They contacted us within that time frame and we were scheduled for install within a week or so of the promised schedule. They were no pressure when giving the estimate. Almost so laid back that I initially thought they didn't need the business since it was a relatively small job! However, it is just their approach which was good. The installers showed up EXACTLY on time. Very polite, clean cut group of men who worked quickly and efficiently. Installed in 3.5 hours! They left the house cleaner than when they came. Seriously :) Windows look wonderful and I would highly recommend the company.

All were happy. Skyline gave me a list of many people who had their windows and agreed to be references! They stood out because their interview was low key, low pressure and full of useful information. One house got the Okna 500 series and a couple of years later, I chose the Okna 800 series. It is now 5 years later and both houses are problem free. It is now time for me to change out my old wood windows and I am again using Skyline. Why? Because Jared, the owner, is helpful and knowledgeable and I can count on him to be sure my experience will be headache free. They are a pleasure to work with, start to finish, and I cannot recommend him highly enough!
