The company is horribly unresponsive when you have an issue. Bought a loop carpet that snags and pulls like a sweater so that a small snag becomes a huge piece of carpet yarn tried to make a complaint in April and got the runaround for several months. finally someone called the rep out, they said that that's because I have a dog but a lot of people have a dog in America or cat I'm sure. They also said you can't have a sweeper that has a Beater bar. None of those things were mentioned when I bought the carpet and the rep denied my claim here in the middle of November. That's how long it took it will be the very last time I use them and they will never get a recommendation from me. I've had carpets from Walmart and discount stores that lasted better than this rug. read more

It was our experience that Mike T. is a major B.S. artist and a liability to the company. The sad part about this clown of a salesman is he thinks his customers are buying the bull Sh** that he is selling... Think East Coast want-a-bie mob guy....he talks to customers on the phone at the same time that he is talking to 10 other people...very rude and because of which makes numerous mistakes, We came into the store, chose our carpet, received a installation date and paid a deposit. One week later we get a call from Mike and the agreed upon price has increased $$$$ and the installation date was pushed a week. At this point in the project, we have no choice but to continue with this company, as it was too late in our timeline to start over with another company. After reading the mixed reviews of this company, a majority of the multiple stars given were in the past (pre 2019) This company is definitely living on its past reputation and their family T.V. commercials Perhaps this is why this Cat City store is always empty? During our remodel process my wife and I looked everywhere for floor solutions. My wife was adamant on wood and being from the desert we settled on the next closest thing (laminate) with what we believed would be fewer issues. After going to Carpet Empire for what I believed was at least 5 times, we (she) finally decided on a floor, the Mohawk laminate series. I felt fortunate to be helped by Mike. He was extremely patient with us even though I'm sure he thought we would never buy from there as we were so indecisive. After finally selecting a floor, Mike was apologetic due to it being on back order, as seems to be normal now with supply shortages. We initially asked for 1550 sq ft. After going through that amount of floor, we realized we were short 350 sq ft. We called Mike and he got on it immediately. He estimated the time of arrival to be 3 weeks per the manufacturer. Our installer, who knows Mike, was told by Mike he would try to lean on the manufacturer and rush the order. Mike was able to push on the manufacturer and we received our floor in less than a week. We were so happy with Mike and the people at Carpet Empire, we decided to get our carpet there as well. I strongly recommend you talk to Mike if you are in the market for flooring. Very responsive, understanding and not at all pushy like your typical salesman. He treats you as family and goes above and beyond. read more

Love, love, love my engineered hardwood floors! I had such a pleasant experience selecting and purchasing my floors. It was honestly the easiest decision and process during my entire remodel. I showed Michael some of my inspiration pictures and he was able to identify the real life versions and give me some samples. I would have never thought they were the same as the photos but when I took the samples home and put it in my house, in various rooms, at various times of the day, it clarified my decision. Buyer Beware! I ordered very expensive wool carpet and waited months for install. Carpet Empire installed the carpet! Wrong manufacturer, wrong color and wrong style. On top of that the install was horrible. The owner finally agreed it was not what I ordered and said they would refund my money on the day it was to be removed but when the carpet was uninstalled the owner, Mike Balian, said he would not refund the balance of my $16,000 payment and won't return my calls. On Nextdoor website multiple people have complaints about Carpet Empire. I am taking them to court to get my money back. I expect to prevail in court. I would never recommend Carpet Empire. Quality and workmanship has really gone down. Even though I know the owner, he still never came through after I complained and promised he would fix it. The carpet padding is next to having purchased no padding. The unraveling of carpet at door ways, the staining, the severe buckling started right away in the first month. The living room and definitely the bedroom is something I look at everyday. I have many friends and have lived in Palm Springs since 1973 and have had a business for 15 years and would never treat a customer with no regard, let alone I know person that know Steve the owner personally. The quality of carpeting and padding he sold was the worst in a matter of a month. Carpet Empire installed my carpet at my business, my home 2x before in all rooms. But, now buyer beware. I ordered carpeting for one bedroom and a custom area rug. Of course, I was asked to prepay for the order. Once the installers showed up the area rug was not on their truck. I call the office and was told the area rug was not included in the purchase. This is not what I was told at time of purchase. Be careful they do not to the "bait and switch" with you. read more

When I first walked in I was greeted by Mike Tomlinson who was very charming by first impression. I must admit the showroom was so large and beautiful that I was a bit overwhelmed at first. About 15 years ago, I bought carpet from Mike at Carpet Empire Plus. It was a very durable carpet and on the more expensive end. Unfortunately, there was a never ending parade of houseguests, kids, nieces, nephews, and; yes, me, who spilled everything imaginable on it. And I was less than diligent in addressing the stains, and it was a light color. So, about four years ago, I decided that we needed new carpet and hardwood floors. Not being particularly interested in these matters I FOOLISHLY went with the Costco/Shaw dealer. What a joke. The wood was well done and at a good price. The carpet was awful. I never negotiated the prices separately and just trusted the guy when he assured me it was a good carpet. I guess he made his profit on selling me cheap carpet to keep the total number low. The Shaw carpet is completely worn out in just a few years. Not stained, worn out. Now, I need new carpet again. I'm going to go to Mike, where I should have gone for the wood. He sold me a top quality product at a very fair price. When there was a problem with the installation, he and I came to a very satisfactory deal. That carpet would still by in my house if I had treated it with better care. After just four years, the Costco/Shaw carpet looks like it was used in a terminal at LAX, not a house with two people.
