Jim was great to work with in the store, he was patient with us, and let us take our time, unbothered, while reviewing the selections. The installers and their lack of professionalism, however, are the reason for the lower score. They refused shoe covers and walked with their shoes through the house, then tracked dust and carpet pieces throughout. They left water bottles, damage to the baseboards and walls. It felt like they were more in a rush to get done than to get the job done correctly. After discussing this with Jim, he wasn't phased by the issues and said we should have expected a little cleanup despite being told the installers would clean up after themselves. They were instructed to leave the old carpet for us to throw out, but they didn't bother to bag it up for trash. We paid $1500 for two rooms and I still had to do a lot myself. We wanted to support a local business but the whole effort was pretty average. read more

The first places that popped into my mind were the carpet stores with the catchy jingles that I would see on television but when I called them I quickly realized that they were an over priced big business trying to look like a great price small business. After hours of trying to find a carpet store I pulled out my trusted Yelp app & found this carpet store. This store is located in Palatine, Illinois on Dundee, Rd. It is in a small shopping plaza next to Sushi Para & across the street from Delta Sonic Car Wash. The location is very convenient. I walked in & was greeted by a worker named Jim. He was very friendly & professional & helped answer all of my questions. He showed me a few different options & gave me a fair price. The store was fairly large & they had a lot of samples on display. The do sell & also install carpet. The employee told me that it usually takes about four business days to get the carpet in stock & then install. Overall the location was convenient, the staff was friendly & the prices were fair. This business is a hidden treasure! After purchasing and returning two area rugs online and scouring every business within a 50 mile radius (not joking!) I thought I would never find an area rug! Well one day on the way home from work I thought I would stop into Carpet Outlet and see how much it would cost to get a custom one built. Best decision ever! Bill took the time to provide me with numerous options, gave me the pros/cons of my choices, gave me samples to take home and delivered my final option to my house myself. And the price? It was a quarter of what I spent online and saw in the stores. I could kick myself for wasting so much time and money.
