Hometown Flooring Designs was one of three businesses that I decided to get quotes. Gary came out to give me the estimate and measured everything with an actual measuring tape. I originally spoke to his wife, Jennifer, who was so personable and friendly. She usually is at the store and I have to say the store is clean, organized, and was decorated for the holidays and it always smells amazing! Jennifer has quite the bubbly personality and is extremely helpful. In the afternoon I chose Hometown Flooring for several reasons one because Jennifer was patient and asked me so many questions and also let me take samples home to get a good idea of what I needed to have done. Especially after I had painting done. I believe in supporting small business, and I really liked the personalized attention that I received from both Jennifer and Gary. After receiving other estimates, I truly believe that I was getting a better value and a better quality of carpet than the other carpet companies that provided estimates. When I decided to move forward with Hometown Flooring, Jennifer was great and keeping me in the loop on when the carpeting would be delivered and when delivery dates would be of a call. Also, Gary called me before my installation just to answer any questions. Gary arrived promptly at 7 am the day of the carpet installation. He had two other men with him that were helping with the install. First of all, I like the carpet and the design of the carpet. I felt that I was making great decisions with the personal attention and patience with my many questions! On top of that the installation was unbelievable! When the installer team came out, they did not replace the boards and told me new boards were unnecessary. I was still charged for the board replacements anyway. I disputed this directly with the company on March 19th, the day of the installation, and did not receive a follow-up. I had to reach back out on March 31st to continue addressing the issue. At that point, they asked for photos, despite my earlier explanation that photos would not prove anything because of the nature of the work. Today, they responded by saying the pictures were "not proof" and agreed to issue a refund, but only after I pushed the issue. At that point, it's no longer just about the money. It's about integrity, poor internal communication, and how a legitimate customer concerns are handled by this business.

Long story short, we get a call that he can't finish the job because of a death and funeral he needed to attend. All that got done was a sanding job but no finish. During the conversation he began to threaten us when we told him to just walk away and we would not be paying the balance. We could not afford another 1 or 2 nights in a hotel )vapors) and giving the threats he first made to my son and then to me I wanted nothing more to do we this company. He thretend a contractors lien if we didn't pay him for "not" finishing the job. This guy was scum. Period. If this is a new owner then fine, but if its the same owner stay away. Anyone who threatens to sue you when they were at fault and refuses to compromise with you is not someone you should do business with.

There were some dingy areas from sun exposure and areas with darkening from water. I called them on a Monday morning, Sam came over that same morning and gave me a quote, and they started on Tuesday. The floors and stairs looked fabulous after their work! I was worried (ok, paranoid) about dust since I'm quite allergic. As a hobby woodworker with a lot of dust capture equipment, Arlington Hardwood must use some serious filters and vacuums because I didn't think it was possible to leave that little dust behind. There was just a tiny bit on flat surfaces that had the consistency of flour. The floors are now gorgeous and I'm so glad we had them done before moving anything into the house. I only wish he did Zelle for payment. One thing I really like is that the owner actually does the work, so you know it will be done well, and you're getting his experience.
