The cleaning technicians do thorough and careful work. The dental Assistants have been amazingly supportive, sensitive, and knowledgeable while supporting procedures being done. I switched over to Carquinez Dental a few years ago and every time I leave, I'm impressed. I used to get a lot of anxiety going to the dentist and oddly enough, I now look forward to my cleanings. I have seen a couple hygienists and they have all been gentle, kind, professional and efficient. Dr Singh is the same and I was incredibly nervous having to get a cavity filled. It was painless and quick. I am not sure why I dreaded these types of visits before but since becoming a patient here, I no longer feel that way. I highly recommend them!! Dentist ok, office staff is unprofessional. One entitled dental assistant would come out in waiting room load mouth about sporting teams, nothing to do with dentistry. They were combative when I had a legitimate grievance on a claim as well. I had been there for years, pretty much for status quo reasons. The office has very friendly and helpful staff working there and the dental work I've received has been excellent. Unprofessional office staff too busy shop talking. As I wait for my mother, I tried to call and give them a cell to call as soon as she is done. That was just too much of an inconvenience for this young brunette that they hired. So what you are too busy to work? Quit and let someone else have your job. She even lied and blamed it on an answering service, as I hear their phone ringing outside whilst I call. No money for you. Besides one can save about $700 per crowned tooth for all porcelain or noble metal for a short drive to Walnut Creek. Not worth the ridiculous run up and fleecing of Benicians. Clearly, they have more customers than they need to keep. read more

I think they are the best dentists I've ever had my whole life. If I weren't moving to Sunnyvale, I would keep them for life. For LIFE! Several years back, I got enticed to go to this one dentist in Houston because they gave away free massages with each cleaning. Maybe the massages were to mask the inferior dental work and attention, because I had gotten a crown from that place that forever caught food between my crown and the next tooth, and it was shaped in a way that made a gap between the bottom of the crown and the gum. When I asked (after they put it in) if they could adjust it, they said, "It's permanent," and that was the end of that story. After a few years, I suffered from gum discomfort and constantly getting food stuck in that little crevice. Fast forward to about 2 years ago when I came here, recommended by several co-workers. I had met with Dr. Singh who suggested that I redo the crown. I was bummed because it would be kind of expensive, but with insurance covering most of it (I have Blue Anthem), I was willing to give it a shot. They did an absolutely amazing job. The new crown is identical to my teeth. You really can't tell the difference. They are so impeccable that they fit it perfectly with my gum and so there's no more gap. They also shaped it so that food no longer gets stuck between the teeth. Even when I go to get my biannual cleaning, all of the hygienists have been very friendly and easy to work with. They make getting teeth cleanings NOT a pain in the... well, teeth. If you work or live near the Benicia area, I highly, highly recommend going here. They are very knowledgeable, they tell you what they're doing as they do it so you're not freaked out, they're very gentle and friendly, and they know what they're doing. [The only downside is that I've had some problems with the ladies sitting at the front desk (as have some of my co-workers). Sometimes they're rude or just plain ignorant. I had to correct one lady a couple of times to use my insurance, otherwise I would've been charged a couple hundred dollars.] read more

Dr Brian Houston is wonderful. The staff is very friendly. The dental hygienists are very friendly happy and compassionate. they accept most insurances and they can set up payment plans if needed. the waiting area is small but comfortable and clean. the wait is never longer than 5 minutes. the front desk staff is always happy and friendly. love that they have free tooth pastes, pencils, pens and stickers for the kids. the hygienists are understanding and careful of patients with anxiety or pain issues. i have a horrible gag reflex and they are quite understanding and accommodating to that. its important to me that they care about comfort. they always do a fast job but are also very thorough. have had fillings and teeth removed. i have been a customer with them since i was 12 (im 45 now) of course Dr Roetzer will always be my favorite dentist but since hes retired, Dr Houston is the next BEST dentist. I had sudden horrible pain from a wisdom tooth and couldn't wait for my next appt. they worked quickly to get me in that day to see Dr. Singh. She isn't my usual dr but she was amazing. She saw how much pain I was in and quickly wrote me a referral for oral surgeon and asked them what she could do to help me in the mean time. I had to wait for the following day for surgery, and was in so much pain my husband called back and spoke to her that night. She went above and beyond the call of duty returning our call after hours and working with the surgeon to get me in ASAP. I think I'll be switching to her as my regular dentist, and I appreciate all she did to help me! read more

I never thought I could say this, but I love my dentist. As someone who's been traumatized since the age 5 with dental procedures and braces, I promised myself after my braces came off 13 years later that I'd never go to a dentist again. I started coming here last year and I've been seeing Dr. Shafer after my permanent retainer came unglued. I was nervous as heck, but everyone was so kind and gentle that it eased my anxiety. Dr. Shafer gave me some bad news...I had my first cavity at 27. The procedure was absolutely nothing to worry about, and the syringe caused more pain than anything else he did. Just finished my third cleaning, a year after taking the plunge to revisit a dentist, and I couldn't be happier. Everyone here is amazing. read more

She fairly recently joined the practice and is a terrific dentist - always professional, warm and a very skilled clinician. She recently did 6 crowns for me and her work is fabulous! The crowns were a big investment (longtime discolored/decayed front teeth) for me and I am very pleased with the result not only from a health standpoint but also aesthetically.
