Our stay was great! We reserved a King size room. Extremely clean and quiet. Happy to see a grab bar in the shower, but was on the back wall. I needed to join an important work call, asked the front desk before checking in if the wifi was good and was told yes. I followed all the instructions to join wifi. (I'm in tech so not user error). Had to reschedule my call because the participants couldn't hear me because the connection kept dropping. Check in is at 3 and I was out of the hotel by around 3:25, checked into the Hilton Garden Inn at 3:28 (see pictures). Manager refuses to refund me and they have a very nasty attitude. We will never stay here again. We had to switch rooms 3 times during our 3 night stay. After 1 night our bathroom light switch would not stay on, our second room had a TV that would not work, so we had to move again. No price change for our inconvenience. If you stay here, do not book directly with the hotel. Use Booking.com, Expedia, or other travel sites as direct booking prices were more than double! BEWARE OF PRICE GOUGING!!! I booked online directly with the hotel. While I thought the prices were high, ($294.00 for one room for one night) the hotel was convenient for my needs and they advertised "pillow top" mattresses which are important to me. I am willing to pay for a good nights sleep. I didn't get one. The room was very dated and had some significant wear and repair issues. The tub surround had several large cracks in it; the cracks were easily 6 inches long or more. The door had multiple very visible spackle patches on it. And the sink/counter top in the bathroom was falling off the wall. Literally. The pillow top mattress was a joke. The comforter on the bed provided more padding than the pillow top. I have never slept on a harder mattress in my life and slept very poorly. My back ACHED by morning. If you're going to charge nearly $300 (no that's not a typo) for a room, the room better be spot on. The best part? The maximum room rate (Rack Rate) posted right on the door is $250.00. When I inquired about possibly being overcharged, the woman at the desk laughed at me and said, "I can charge whatever I want. I could charge you $400." Honey, the reason hotels are required to post rack rates for each room is to prevent price gouging. What you did was illegal. I have reported this hotel to the BBB. And I am going to seek a refund for the excess charge from my credit card company. read more

It was the only place available to book for the same day so I spent the $170. On the drive in, you may have trouble parking in the crowded and odd parking lot. There were broken down cars and an industrial area to the right where a large front end loader was running next to the cars and making loud noises. Scary for kids to walk around outside this hotel. At check in they charged an extra $100 hold to my credit card, which tells you a lot about the place. The hotel is very dated. Walking into the room, a blast of stale air mixed with cleaning agent hit us. The AC at the window was so loud during the night that it was hard to sleep. The room seemed dirty but it had the basic amenities. Breakfast was ok. Nothing fancy. The basic solid egg tray with no flavor, greasy sausages, decent yogurt and juice selection, make your own waffles. read more

Unfortunately this centipede wasn't the worst thing about this hotel, the worst thing about it was that it almost crawled on me as I waited for our room that never came. When we checked in they were surprised. Someone had checked in under my bfs name. We asked if they showed an ID or credit card, like legally necessary, which they hadn't. So we were given a card for the room and went to unlock it. It was dead bolted and a dog started barking. I could see a pitbull through the door and that's it. They started screaming at us and we closed the door and went to the lobby. When we went to the lobby and asked for another room and the whole place was sold out... sounds made up but it was true. I have stayed here several times now and overall the experiences were decent. First, parking can be a hassle if the place is busy. If you have to park in the big lot, you can have a long walk to the front door. The breakfast is better than most hotels I've stayed at. The rooms are clean. However, the TV service is horrible - constantly pixelating or freezing, with half the channels not available at all. I have had different channels available in every room I have had. And the same goes for the internet service. It is hit or miss as to whether the phone in the room will work if you need to call the front desk or another room. The water level in the toilets is unusually high, which can be annoying. But the front desk has always been friendly, and now that Van's Pizza is open, decent food is available on site. read more

There are so very many hotel choices here in Danbury and this I believe is most likely the very worse choice. When initially checking in the front desk staff was amazing and kind. I asked for a late check out which was happily granted but the following morning I was greeted with constant knocks at the door from who I am guessing was the Housekeeping staff. After the first knock, I was unable to get back to sleep and just decided to relax instead. Shortly thereafter, there was yet another knock at the door and I finally decided to call the front desk to make certain that my late check out request was indeed being honored. The front desk agent assured me that it was but I shared with her that someone keeps knocking at the door. She assured me that it wouldn't happen again. Not even 5 minutes later there was extremely loud banging at the door, which quite frankly scared me. When I asked who it was, they stated they were Security and I need to leave right now. I opened the door to a woman and an extremely large male who got in my face and said I needed to leave right now. I asked them what they were talking about and they stated that check out time was at Noon and I need to leave. When I told them that I had been granted a late check out for 1:00 p.m., they said that was not accurate and I need to leave. This experience was extremely unsettling. To have someone constantly knocking at the door when I was there all alone had me so nervous. Safety is first and foremost for me and opening doors for strangers is absolutely out of the question. The bottom line is this. Either this was a great miscommunication or someone thought this to be some sort of sick joke. I am nervous enough traveling alone and this ordeal has me realize that a stay at a lower star hotel, even if owned by Wyndham is not the best idea. Search for other accommodations this is not a good choice for a hotel. read more

This hotel is covered in mold and cockroaches, I am still dealing with health issues from my stay in October. Managers and staff are rude, and treat you like a criminal. Make you feel as though they think you are a kid. Do not spend your dollars here and support other great businesses in Danbury. Don't bother asking for housekeeping, they will come banging on your door at 8 in the morning ever day. Hallways smell atrocious and like someone opened up 15 cans of air freshener Air conditioning units are soggy and have no structure, are covered in mold. Drug deals frequently happen in the parking lot, homeless people sneak in. Never felt safe here. There was a illegal dental practice going for months and somehow no one knew about it. Probably was the managers friend. Breakfast is from the day before, soggy and cold. Our room had a broken air conditioner that was hanging off the wall and we had a baby. They said that's just how it was and we couldn't switch rooms. There was exposed wires that could have very well electrocuted myself, my husband, or my baby. The health department really should investigate this deplorable building and see what is really going on here behind closed management doors. read more

I've stayed here many times for weeks at a time, and I've been generally satisfied. Not this time. First off the WiFi sucks. It keeps disconnecting, and it doesn't automatically reconnect, which I'm guessing is by design. Both washers are broken, so I had to go to a local laundromat to do my laundry. Great check in experience. Had no problem getting an early check in and late checkout. Room was big and clean. Complimentary breakfast was surprisingly decent. The cons - there were only 8 lounge chairs at the pool area. Chairs that were clearly cheap - a couple that were broken! They definitely need to upgrade the chairs! Plus add at least a dozen more! This was my first experience at a hotel that welcomed pets. The smaller dogs were pretty adorable and well behaved. HOWEVER, there was a guest who had 2 extremely HUGE scary German Shepards that barked at everyone. I really believe that the hotel need to have a weight limit on acceptable pets because I was very uncomfortable passing these two dogs and I'm sure others were. Although we were supposed to check in on June 14, due to the timing of our trip, we did so at 0211 on June 13 and paid an additional $50 on top of the reservation fee. We left that evening at 1700 to eat dinner with relatives. It was nearly 80 degrees when we arrived back home two hours later. The young woman at the front desk completely ignored us, but the guard was quick to move us to a different room. Unfortunately, we found that the room had cockroaches after only an hour. My son addressed the front desk right away, but the receptionist ignored him. When I tried phoning, the clerk didn't pick up for 10 minutes. I told her that I was on my way downstairs and she said it would be 5 to 10 minutes before she could help. Seven additional cockroaches had already dispersed by the time I could even take shots, leaving me with only five pictures of them at this point. The front desk employee told me to go back to my room and wait for her to fix it or leave the building while she was on the phone with her boss when I arrived. I explained to her that there is no way to "fix" a cockroach infestation and that I needed my money back in order to locate my family alternative accommodations. It was graduation weekend and most places were booked, we had paid in advance even if it were through Priceline and trying to get Priceline to refund me at that moment it would take several days for them to process the refund payment. After waiting for 15 minutes, the clerk dialed 911 and advised the dispatcher that I posed a serious threat to the people in the lobby and that they needed to act quickly. Not one, not two, but three law enforcement personnel showed up to the property in a matter of minutes. My son met them outside and explained the issue to them. They entered the building, spoke with someone on the phone, and confirmed that the young woman had previously dismissed us with the previous issue. One of the officers informed us this was not the first time they had been called out to this property for the same exact issue. However, because I "mentioned" there were cockroaches in a room on their property, they asked me to leave and told me to deal with Priceline for a refund. Those of you who have used Priceline should be aware that a refund can only be given if the motel cancels the reservation and accepts the return. Three days into the process, La Quinta has made every effort to steer clear of Priceline. My reservation was $441.18 in total, not including the $50 plus tax and fees for an early check-in. Given that I was there during that period, I am not requesting a refund for the early check-in fees. I do want the $441.18 for the time I did not spend there, as well as a formal apology from the female clerk for her poor customer service and "police escort" off the premises. My family and I will, however, acknowledge that Danbury, Connecticut, has some of the most polite, amiable, and respectful law enforcement personnel we have ever encountered. This is NOT being dissatisfied with the conditions of La Quinta. This is a matter of La Quinta employing someone whom completely dismissed my family and I twice. Additionally, cockroaches are just some pest you "handle" or "fix". Cockroaches are known to carry microorganisms that can cause a number of illnesses in humans. Ten or more in one area; likelihood you have a infestation. My son has a very low immune system and I recently had surgery. NOONE'S HEALTH IS ANYTHING TO PLAY AROUND WITH FOR A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS! La Quinta this isn't over, I will not stop. This does not have to be a battle or ugly. I just want my money back to help make up for the $721, I had to spend after leaving your property. read more

I really love this hotel. My dogs had a dog run they really needed after being on the road. The real wood flooring in the foyer and bathroom of each room and I felt comfortable having my family visit because it's so beautiful. Cons: we were freezing cold and staff was rude about it. I told them I didn't want blankets ( I bring my own sheets/blankets and towels everywhere) They sent blankets anyway. No biggie. Guy checks out heat says it working but he doesn't handle thermostats the company that does will call me in 2-3 days!? Um ok...no call...FF 3 days I have no hot water in the shower and standing ankle deep in water that won't drain! I called downstairs got the same woman as a few days ago. She tells me they have to have someone repair the boilers. Why not tell us that prior??? Then I ask when do they expect it to be fixed? She literally snapped at me that she already told me today. No she didn't. Mind you I'm not being nasty or angry about any of this, just curious and being treated like sub human. I asked if she has heard anything about the thermostat and she snapped again " you're heat works we had someone look at it and it works fine" I told her the guy that was there told me the thermostat was another company and I was waiting to hear back from them. I even gave him my phone number and was just wondering if she had heard anything. She snapped again "I don't know what more to tell you. We had it looked at. It works and we offered you blankets but you refused them!" Well my thermostat says 80 and it's blowing cold air half the time and works intermittently and I don't feel like arguing. This ruined my stay. I was no longer comfortable asking for what I needed. It was so cold in there my big dog was shivering most days. There is something very wrong with a place that acts like that. I noticed when I went downstairs one time to get renewed and re keyed. A woman in the parking lot couldn't get in either. We tried two back entrances and when I came to counter the young girl seemed to roll her eyes at me. Look I don't care. I'm not even complaining I'm just letting them know. Don't shoot the messenger and don't disregard or disrespect your guests! I was there for quite some time and spent about $1300 the first week and then an additional 400ish can't remember for a few extra days. I checked out and went across the street where they had excellent heat, hot water and tubs that drained. Not as nice but I didn't feel unwelcome. read more

On this trip, we have stayed at a few La Quinta Inns. This was probably my least enjoyable experience. The hotel was a little difficult to find and get to off the interstate. Attached to the hotel is an Outback Steakhouse. While it's nice to have a restaurant so close, this does affect the parking situation. When we checked in, we were told if we showed the restaurant our room key we would get a 10% discount. During the night, there was a good bit of noise in the hallway and it was difficult to sleep. For some reason, there were no little bottles of shampoo or lotion and only one small bar of soap. For the price, I expected more comfort and convenience. read more

My only real complaint is that the television reception is awful....they have Dish Network and all I can say is that this confirmed my desire to NEVER give up my Cable TV....I wanted to watch the Golden Globes tonight, but the signal is not coming into the room...Have missed Stephen Colbert and SNL this week also....when you are trapped in a hotel because the pipes in your home burst and are a senior citizen that does not drive....TV becomes kind of important. My company booked me a room at La Quinta in Danbury, CT. When I arrived at the address they gave.. I was at the Wellesley Inn.... not La Quinta. I had to call the hotel twice for directions. They never once bothered to mention their sign doesn't say La Quinta. When I arrived and told her my story she simply said... "Oh yeah... that happens all the time". Apparently La Quinta owns them or tricks customers into staying their for them. That should have been my first clue. The entire hotel "smelled old". The layout was spread out, twisted and confusing. Most of the guests were young and loud way into the early morning hours. The room was out dated. The pictures were long gone from the walls... but the multiple nails that once held things up were still there. The bedspreads were filthy. The sheets were starched enough to stand up. The wall paper overlapped at each seam and was glaring. The TV was old and the reception.... limited... very limited.. was also very poor. Breakfast was unbelievably pathetic. A few tiny, tiny, "danish" with no flavor. A few bagels and a toaster that took 12 passes to toast. English muffins... butter, jam, peanut butter, cream cheese. Coffee, no lids Plain half and half... no creamer, flavored creamer etc... One type of artificial sweetner.... Miserable..... I'll not be back.. unless it's to attend the demolition. read more

We stayed here when we decided to bring our dogs with us for Memorial Day Weekend hiking in Danbury. Check-in was fairly easy and the staff was so nice and attentive! They even have dog treats at the front desk for your furries. No problems whatsoever while we stayed. Just a heads up - the rooms are serviced every day if you have a dog, so you may come back to your carpet damp from carpet shampoo. The only downfall was that we wanted to use the pool but couldn't due to pets not being allowed near the pool area, and they cannot stay unattended in your room. The hotel met my needs. When I checked in around 4pm and both employees were trainees it set a poor first impression. Also, as the main started to help me a guest with an issue that he was previously working with jumped right along side of me and he began to help her. It totally put a bad taste in my mouth. When I said I guess I should wait he said no. It felt rude. I decided I didn't want to trust an employee who just made a mistake with one guests reservation to multitask with mine. I moved and had the lady check me in. She got the job done but it was very transactional and not warm and friendly.. I don't even believe that I received any information about the hotel. The room was clean, bright, and met all of my needs. I did appreciate the 1pm checkout so that I could shower after the Redding Road Race. La Quintas at THE easiest chain for road trips with pets. Remember, a pet friendly hotel mat not be as clean as others for obvious reasons. Arrived right after a group had. A member of the group told me to go ahead of them. When I did, the desk (one of two) told me I would just gave to wait. Other desk person had to tell him to take care of me. Room was not cleaned as if four thirty PM the following day. When I asked for clean towels, was told they didn't have any. As with others we found this location difficult to find, our GPS brought us to a point a mile away from the actual hotel. The majority of the hotel has been refurbished, it seems like they are still in the process of finishing one of their buildings. The layout of the hotel is strange, seems like they plopped a new hotel on an old foundation. The rooms are spacious, clean, and inexpensive for the area, and most importantly to us pet friendly. It is attached to an Outback steakhouse which is convenient if you don't feel like driving to dinner. From what we observed driving past the other hotels in the area this is by far the best hotel to stay. read more
