Nice breakfast/lunch spot near Jamestown Settlement. They also have a dessert counter where you can grab cookies, cakes, and other goodies to go. Employees were friendly. They have separated seating areas, but weren't busy during our visit. Inside is very casual. The BBQ sandwich was really good. I added the small side of coleslaw to it. The included potato salad side was fairly bland, except for the pickle flavor. About $15 for this meal. I stole a few French fries from the Mrs, which were good, as was the green goddess dressing that came with her wrap. She said the wrap was also very good. Most meals ranged from $10-15 on the menu. Breakfast items available all day.

Carrot Tree is such a welcoming place for lunch or bakery treats. It's a real locals spot and a gem! The menu offers breakfast and lunch, with sandwiches, salads, soup, and quiche. I especially like their side dish of carrot salad, which contains pickled carrots in a sweet vinegar. During our most recent visit, we ordered the First Ladies lunch, which included a piece of spinach quiche (they offered other quiche versions too) and a side, for which I ordered the carrot salad. Many of my friends ordered the sampler, which came on a bed of lettuce with scoops of different salads, like tuna, chicken, egg, and pimento. Another friend ordered the wrap special, which was peaches and chicken. Yummy!! The restaurant is larger than it looks from the entrance, as it has another room towards the back. It's brightly lit with cute rabbit- and carrot-themed decorations. The bakery and prepared food to take home areas offer a wide selection of cakes, cookies, pies, etc. and meals like quiches, pot pies, etc. See photos. They can accommodate groups of 12 for large lunches with friends and can provide separate checks. Service is very good!!

First time here, after wife received several recommendations. Place is much better sized than we were led to believe, with plenty of seating. Place a Was busy, but not overly so, between 1/2 & 2/3 full. First indication of things going awry was standing at the hostess station for twenty seven minutes (with obvious seating available). Finally seated and were able to order minutes later. Plenty of time to examine the decor, which was tastefully decorated for the season. Waters arrived (no lemon in mine for some reason, although both of us requested-guess wife just looks nicer!). I ordered the Brunswick stew and wife had the breakfast croissant. Bowl of stew was small - felt more like a cup size. Would have liked some hot sauce, but after food was dropped off, waitress never reappeared. Wife's breakfast sandwich was very nice. Overall, seemed seriously understaffed, which affected all aspects of the meal.

LOVE CARROT TREE! i come here at least once or twice every summer. My grandma treated me to lunch today. Went with my usual: the Yorktown onion and carrot salad. SO YUMMY

Delicious breakfast croissant made with over medium eggs, topped with bacon, and cheddar cheese. Large carrot slice as a side. Hubby had a Brunswick stew which he found bland. The place was too large for the staff of the manager and two servers. Very slow to seat us o/w excellent food for me.

The staff is consistently gracious and accommodating, which really sets them apart from other restaurants that seem to dread large parties. Even on a busy Friday night, we were seated in under thirty minutes. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and handled multiple tables with ease. He stayed on top of our orders and refills, and he took allergies seriously, checking with the kitchen to make sure certain dishes were safe. That level of care is always appreciated. As always, the food was excellent. I usually go for the crabcakes, but this time I tried the special, a crowned salmon, and it was so tasty. They truly do seafood well here, and the portions are always hearty. Every experience here is consistently great. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the manager even stopped by our table to check in, which was a nice touch. I always recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Williamsburg.

We still had a 15 minute wait when we came in at 5:15 PM, but we were on the priority wait list ahead of time. Also, the parking situation is kind of crazy, but there is an overflow parking lot right next to food for thought. We got the pot roast with mashed potatoes and fries and The Thai one on which is basically pad Thai. The pot roast was very filling and flavorful. Mashed potatoes were amazing and had good salt to them and the string fries were really crispy and had the right amount of seasoning. I thought the Thai one on was not very good - it had too many vegetable and liquid and not enough noodles. I also thought it didn't match the flavor profile that I would expect from a Thai restaurant. It was more like something that you would get from an Americana restaurant. If you're looking for Pad Thai, don't get this. The ambience and decorations inside of the restaurant were really where this place shines. We loved the decorations inside and all the quotes as well as fun little touches like conversation starters and thought-provoking question cards on every table. I think the decorations would probably warrant a five or six stars out of five. Overall, worth a visit if you are in Williamsburg! (Corrections for typos)

This was a highlight of our Williamsburg trip!…read more I made a reservation about a month out and I'm glad I did. It was so busy when we showed up. They asked us if we wanted to wait for a few minutes at the bar while they prepared our table so we ordered a couple of drinks. As soon as we ordered they came to get us. No big deal, we just paid and took our drinks with us. We were sat toward the front of the restaurant, which gave us the perfect people-watching position. Our server stopped by to greet us and said she'd be back. Waters and bread were delivered and she oriented us to the menu. We made our selections of salmon for my husband and short ribs with a side of squash. Everything was delicious. We were happy with our selections and so full when we left. I appreciate that the short ribs are boneless and tender and had the perfect seasoning. I'd eat that dish again anytime!

As we were passing by the Big Yellow…read moreWinged Buffalo, the two 15-year-old boys immediately spotted it and said, "That's what we want to eat!" So, of course, we listened to the teenagers! That was our first mistake! We walked in and were seated shortly after 7 PM. Our waitress greeted us, took our drink order, and returned with my soda. The kids' lemonades were still being made, and my fiancé's beer hadn't even been poured by the bartender yet. It ended up taking 8 minutes after receiving my drink for the waitress to bring the rest of our drinks. Normally, I wouldn't make a big deal about that, but there were maybe 25-30 people in the entire restaurant. Looking back, that probably should have been another sign to leave. But after two kids and two adults had been in the car for three hours, we were hungry and ready to eat. Once we finally received our drinks, we placed our orders. While we were waiting, the gentleman at the table beside us asked to speak with the manager. His wife turned around and explained to us that they had ordered their food, but the two kids' meals still hadn't come out while the adults were almost finished eating. You could see that both parents were upset and frustrated, and the little ones were clearly just ready to have their food. The wife knew the husband was going to be angry so she prepared us for it and stayed she hoped our experience would be better! When the manager came over, shs explained that the kids' food "didn't look presentable to send out," that they were short-staffed, and that it would be ready soon. Oh my, Kids food didn't look presentable enough? It's BDubs not anything fancy! The manger definitely was in the wrong, if there isn't enough kitchen staff trained to prepare food than they shouldn't be opened for business! At that point, I remember thinking, Oh golly... this isn't going to turn out well. And unfortunately, I was right. When our food finally arrived, the wings were extremely overcooked and absolutely drenched in sauce. My 15-year-old son, who loves our hometown Bdubs, could only choke down 3 of them. I tasted one myself, and honestly, I can't even describe how much teriyaki sauce was smothered on it. I ordered the patty melt. It was overcooked & super dry amd definitely not worth the price. The fries were loaded with salt, and the other two meals in our party were, at best, just okay. By the time we finally left, we had been there for over two hours. For what we paid and the overall experience, it simply wasn't worth it. Even the restroom could use a good cleaning. I always try to give restaurants the benefit of the doubt because everyone can have an off night, and I understand that staffing issues happen. But with the lack of people in the restaurant, the long wait for drinks, the issues we witnessed at the table beside us, the quality of our food, and the amount of time we spent there, this was unfortunately not a good experience. I definitely would not recommend this particular location. Two teenage boys picked it because it looked like a great place to eat, and unfortunately, it ended up being one of those vacation meals we'll remember for all the wrong reasons!!!
