Car shield is a joke of a company. I took my car in to certified dealership on June 6 2022 took car shield 5 weeks to send an email that said not covered under warranty. So I authorized dealership to tear down the motor to find out exactly what went wrong and that was done by dealership on August 5 2022 and since the dealership and myself have requested over and over to get adjuster/inspector to get involved again with no results. I have escalated this over and over,even requested new adjuster/ inspector with no resolve. Car shield keeps telling me requeste has been sent will take 24 to 48 hours but it been 6 weeks with still no resolve. Dealerahip is done dealing with this company because they won't do there part. My check engine light came on my car, and at that time I had a Chevy spark 2014, and I drove my car to my car dealership Carl Black Chevolet in Kennesaw Georgia. I contacted American Auto Shield, and here's everything they ask me for: I needed a 12 month history of all the work that was done on my car, please be aware I was not aware that I needed any of this information in order to get my car fixed, but lucky for me I keep all my receipts for my car, and I sent in all the information. American auto shield, did not follow up with me, so I call American Auto Shield again to find out what's going on. American auto shield representative said I need to make a claim, and I need to send in a 12 month receipt history of all the work that was done on my car, please keep in mind I've already sent in that information, and luckily I sent it through my email and I was able to forward the same message that was already sent. Now they want all the information from my mechanic which is at Chevorlet Carl Black and Kennesaw Georgia, and my mechanic sent in all the information including filling out a 100 page form that is required by American auto shield. Now my mechanic completes all the forms that is required from American auto shield, now American auto shield wants my mechanic to break down the car and take pictures, and my mechanic calls me to get my permission to break down the car in order to take pictures that American Auto Shield need. For those of you that don't know, if your mechanic have to call you and ask you for permission in order to break down your vehicle and take pictures, it just means that your warranty company is not going to pay for that, so they're leaving you responsible, but I thought nothing of it, because I have a warranty and I did everything that I was supposed to do in order to get this vehicle fixed. Due to American auto shield playing phone tag, sending a horrible transmission that was tied down with tires, and let's not forget the transmission that was sent from American auto shield, it was very corroded and my mechanic was not able to use the transmission, I was never able to get my vehicle fixed, and my vehicle has been with the mechanic for 25 days. American auto Shield give you two options, pay for your transmission brand new by paying $2500, or you can take the used transmission for $1450 and that includes 40,000 mile protection as long as you have a policy with American auto Shield, and Car Shield. Sad to say American auto Shield never took care of my car, when my mechanic told them there's nothing they can do with this corroded transmission, American auto shield say it is not their problem it is the problem of the company American auto shield purchase the use transmission from, and my mechanic will have to contact them instead of American auto shield. Even though American Auto Shield is the one that sent the mechanic the used transmission in the first place. Of course my mechanic contact the company where American auto shield purchase the transmission from, and of course no response through email or from the number that American auto Shield provided. I now owe my mechanic over $2000, and that's just from taking apart my car so that American auto shield can get everything they need in order to move forward with my vehicle getting fixed. American auto Shield just stop responding completely, I've tried talking to any manager that was over every representative that I was speaking with, there is no manager from what I was told. My mechanic Matt was very helpful, and he appreciate me even taking the initiative to call American auto shield in order to get my vehicle fixed. Unfortunately, I had to get another vehicle, and I wasn't even done paying for my Chevy spark 2014. 2020 of May I would've been done with payments. If a lawyer so happen to see this post. I would love for you guys to take my case and Sue American Auto Shield, and CarShield. I now have a vehicle from a dealership where I don't have to worry about my transmission or engine as long as I own my vehicle, and of course that includes $100 deductible if something was to happen to my transmission or engine. I do not recommend CarShield or American Auto Shield to anyone. If you bought your vehicle from a legit car dealership, if your warranty is close to expiring, get an extended warranty from the dealership you got your vehicle from or any dealership and they'll add it to your loan or you can make small monthly payments. I recommend every customer that buys they're car from their dealership to get an extended warranty from your dealership and have them include it into your loan and you never have to worry about taking care of your vehicle while making payments to pay off your vehicle. That is my recommendation to everyone please stay away from CarShield and American Auto Shield. read more

Hello, Stay away from this company!! I have a 04 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9. While on a 700 mile trip I lost a fuel sensor no big deal I replaced it. On the way back it did it again? Took it to the shop they said it was part of my fuel pump system (electrical). After 4 days of trying to get a hold of Car Shield (Not Car Shield, American Shield!) The dealership told me that it was declined!! It cost me $2100 to get my truck out of the shop!! Now I have the Monthly Powertrain Gold w/Labor and Turbo coverage $95 a month unlimited miles. This should have been covered!! So now I'm just going to cancel it! I don't want to have to worry if I'm going to be covered or not, at least this way I'll know.. These people took my money, like almost 300$ AFTER i cancelled my policy that i supposedly had a month to do all because the cancellation letter was 2 days late. Number 1, why do I have to write a letter? That wasn't discussed when the man on the phone harassed me into signing up. He kept saying that I'd have a month to cancel. I kept telling them i couldn't afford it and they literally wouldn't take no for an answer. I filed a claim w my bank and got my money back but it's the principal. Get ready to be transferred 30 times then soon as you get to a person that kinda knows what there doing. Get ready for the salty attitude and making it seem like it's your fault why your car is in the shop. Becareful, doesnt cover what you are told at time of sale I was sold a policy and was told"it covers your car as if you just drove it off the lot" First claim experience, I am told the issue is not covered. Car shield does not cover the full coverage in California. I saw a commercial about Car Shield that will cover the expanse if your car breaks down. They only cover in California road side assistance which I already have from my insurance. The concept is great but not for my state. Very disappointing. read more

Carshield knows how to lure you in. They will cover the first one or two claims and then deny the next three. I had two small issues with my car that they covered. Any job over 500, they denied after I have been paying for three years. Save your money to pay for the repairs yourself instead of paying them and then having to pay yourself anyway. Total scam. I've had a CarShield policy for my 2006 Mercedes CLK 350 for a few years. Feeling relieved to have a warranty, I thought it was a smart move. For my repairs/maintenance, I either go to two independent mechanics that I've trusted for years, or the Mercedes-Benz dealership. I should have cancelled the policy when each of the independent mechanics stated that they do not accept CarShield because it is essentially a scam. They both stated that CarShield will not pay - for anything. So, when I started to have problems with my transmission, I had it towed to the Mercedes-Benz dealership on NOVEMBER 10TH. I thought that surely CarShield would accept a diagnostic report from certified technicians who specifically and only deal with Mercedes. The service manager informed CarShield that my transmission needed to be replaced. CarShield stated that they needed more information from me. CarShield requested my receipts from any previous repairs/maintenance from the prior year. Okay, done. From there, CarShield asks for another type of diagnostic that the service manager has never even heard of. So, the dealership ran another diagnostic with the same result. Next, CarShield stated that they were going to send out an inspector. Mind you, it is now DECEMBER 10TH. If it wasn't for my family telling me to be patient with the process and helping me out with transportation, I would have had my car towed a lot sooner to one of my trusted mechanics. Finally, 2 days before Christmas, CarShield denies my claim. On top of that, I end up with a $375 dollar bill for the diagnostic check. I guess I should be grateful that the dealership didn't charge me storage fees for keeping my car in their garage for so long. In my experience, CarShield is a scam. I can assume that those who have CarShield "policies" are merely paying the endorsement fees of the celebrities, Ice-T, Mr. T and others who tout how wonderful it is in their commercials. read more

This company does not live up to the promise. My repair shop called CarShield customer service to verify that the parts I needed were covered,which the representative advised yes. I called to make sure it was covered and the representative called my shop while I waited on the phone as he called my repair shop and told them no it was not covered. It clearly shows that this part is covered as per contract. Now who suffers, you the consumer. Now I have to pay out of pocket. I will never do business with this company or recommend it ever. My contract covered bumper-to-bumper, all electrical for 4yrs. After 1yr I tried to put in a claim for my driver side window controls; now mind you now I have a 2010 Maxima with electric Windows which use the battery to operate and they DENIED me. No problem, now I sold my car and tried to receive a prorated refund after having it for 1yr2mo which leaves 2yrs10mo left. I tried to transfer it to my new 2017 Lexus and they DENIED me. This story is about a Chrysler 300, that overheats. We replaced the radiator and the thermostat (our pocket). This didn't fix the problem. Called Car Shield, to see if there was a mechanic in our area that accepts Car Shield as no mechanic we know does. They recommended a AAMCO. Scott the owner, nice guy. So we drove the 300 there, and that same day, Car Shield DENIED the claim citing causation of a cracked block was a non covered oil pump. The next day we went up to AAMCO, and the owner Scott told us that's not true. The block isn't cracked, nor is there a malfunction of the oil pump. Scott told us that the head gasket was blown, thus warping the head, allowing water into the oil. Knowing this as fact, per recording played to Car Shield, they still denied us. Opened a Better Business Burough case (BTW they have an "F" rating), and they repeated the lie of causation as a matter of public record, and closed the case, while still taking money out of the bank account, to pay for??? The only thing we didn't replace, was the Water Pump, which IS covered. No mention of the Water Pump from either Car Shield, nor AAMCO. I'll update this review when Car Shield fulfills their contractual obligation (not holding my breath). I'm going to say it... Car Shield is a fraud. Change My Mind. read more

Then when I tried to use it (since I didn't know it was cancelled), I was told they screwed up but wouldn't fix it. This is the worst waste of money ever. I paid 6 months then my car started having problems. The mechanic said it should be covered, car sheild rep said it was preexisting and would not cover it. The inspector took 2 days to come out for inspection, so I got stuck paying for a rental car too. Just put your money in savings and pay for repairs yourself. This company was absolutely worthless and it cost me more money and they pocketed my 600$ and wouldn't refund the last payment. I wish there was a no star option. There are So many other options, I'll never use car shield!! Went on their website to request a quote, within 10 minutes a representative was already calling. He started with $179 a month. I responded that was more than I expected but that I would talk it over with my husband. He then lowered it to $149 a month. Again I stated that I needed to call and discuss this with my husband which caused him to lower the price yet again to $125. I stated very firmly and clearly that I still needed to talk to my husband. He then lowered the price to $109. Sir, what about discussing this with my husband do you not understand? He then, and with attitude, stated he could go as low as $99 a month but no lower. I stated that was a reasonable price, even though I dont understand why this wasn't the initial price offer, and that I would talk with my husband and let them know what we decide. He was getting very pushy and hateful towards me at this point. He wanted to know why I wouldn't go ahead and lock in this amazing price. I told him that before making any commitment or large purchase that my husband and I ALWAYS discuss it first. To which he started running off at the mouth about how that was ridiculous and what kind of marriage did we have and that maybe a divorce was a good idea if we couldn't make our own decisions. Carshield is a big car no shield The feeder line in the cooling system broke loose causing the coolant to leak which caused loss of antifreeze and subsequently the engine blew. They said it was all  our fault and mind you this occurred while driving on the expressway. They stated that there was no coolant or oil in the car failing to recognize that this was due to the feeder line breaking and engine blowing which caused oil to leak out.    Do not get coverage from them as they may not cover what they say they cover and may fail to honor your claim.  Stay away, we paid over $1000 into the policy and got no satisfaction and out of the money. Several months ago I saw an ad for CarShield on late night TV and decided to get a policy for my son who lives out of state and has an older car. After paying the approximately $100 premium for a few months, I thought (belatedly) to check the company out with the Better Business Bureau. They had a rating of "F". I cancelled the policy with no problem. Lately I have been seeing frequent ads on daytime TV for CarShield. I checked online for the BBB rating to see if the business had improved. I found that the Better Business Bureau rating was no longer available. If you're thinking about doing business with CarShield I'd advise you to put the money for the premiums in a savings account and you'll have something if your car needs repair. read more

RIPPED OFF I called 12/2 to complain about my repair not being covered. I asked how to cancel . I was told I had to write a letter in order to cancel. Today I got a letter saying it was canceled. I called to ask about the coverage end date since you pay years ahead. Today I was told since I did not write requesting a refund in their timeframe I was not eligible for a refund or a coverage period. CAR SHIELD HAS A "F" BBB RATING . This review is about BRAD who is evidently an agent with this company or a representative with a third party trying to sell a Carshield warranty. Everywhere on the letter I received in the mail today 9/23/2022 had this telephone number 1-800-587-5023. In big bold letters IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUESTED and the only option they give when calling is to press 5 for information. Well I didn't press 5 the first time and the recording cut off. So since it said IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUESTED I called back and pressed 5. I told the representative that answered the telephone that I was calling to let them know that I already have a Warranty that didn't expire until 2025. She still asked for the ID number on the letter and was transferring me to an "Agent". Well since I didn't need to speak to an agent I just hung up. Well BRAD called me back and asked my reason for calling and I told him. I told him why and he told me that the next time I get a letter from someone that I should read the entire letter before I call and hung up on me. So I reread the letter and it said all over to see what I missed the first time. NOTHING except call immediately and to respond before 10/3/2022. So now if I ever do need another car warranty it will definitely NOT BE WITH CARSHIELD. read more

I know 2 people that were denied claims one was denied a flywheel because they don't pay for components between the engine and the transmission another one had a knock on the engine and they wanted the client to pay to have the car dismantled to diagnose the problem and then they may pay for the repairs this place is bad this is what I've heard. read more
