Our car ran over a plastic bag that wrapped itself around the inside of the left front wheel. It completely ripped off the brake line and we had no brakes! Mike and Frank were so helpful to us. This happened Thursday afternoon and by Friday morning parts were ordered and by Monday morning our car was fixed. The quote we received on Friday morning was actually very reasonable. Frank told us from the start he had a machine that would detect exactly what was wrong with our 2002 Ford F150 truck. We took it to him telling him what 3 codes the truck was showing. When we picked it up drove away and still had the same exact problems and codes from when we first took it to Precision. We were told to take it back there, that same day three times we did. The last time (and. 3rd time) we took it back we were told theres nothing else that they could do for us. That was after us paying $2000 only to not have the truck fixed and still have the same problem. I would not suggest Precision to anybody. read more

I went to pick it up unfixed and they then told me if I still wanted it fixed it wouldn't be ready for another two days!! Lied all the way around. read more

Every few years I do something to be reminded to never take a vehicle back to a dealership for anything but factory warranty work. I feel I was grossly overcharged at Infinity of Reno to install a new battery. That resulted in $800+ out of pocket as the shop did a full inspection and 'discovered' other items than needed 'attention'. The attention went from a $150 battery to over $800 for misc items that did not require any mechanical work, such as brake inspection in which wheels were removed and replaced. The brake pads had been replaced a month prior and were obviously just fine. Brakes were done at Precision Driveline. IF YOUR VEHICLE DOES NOT NEED FACTORY WARRANTY WORK, TAKE IT TO A GOOD INDEPENT SHOP LIKE PRECISION DRIVELINE! read more

Last April we were on our way home to Mammoth Lakes from Reno. Right when the freeway was ending into Carson City our CV axle went out on us, totally done. Fearing we would be stuck an extra day in Carson we quickly looked for a local shop to the repair the axle. We got so lucky to be just a mile away from the shop. We pulled in and they were able to help us immediately with a fair and reasonable price. They accommodated us while we waited about an hour and half. The mechanic found our brake pads were totally out without the squeak (someone removed it, maybe) and got us fixed up. We were ecstatic to be on our way home still at a reasonable time! We got very lucky finding this shop and couldn't recommend it more! read more

Frank and Mike are scam artists and they're good at it. Liars and thief's. DO NOT GO HERE OR TRUST THEM TO WORK ON YOUR CAR!!! I originally went in for water pump replacement. Got my car back and it over heated. Took it back in and they replaced the thermostat and it over heated again. They said I needed a new engine because my heads were probably warped. The key word there is probably. They never did anything to check it and I believed them. Took them more then 3 weeks to put the engine in. Got my car back and guess what? It over heated. I called Frank and I was upset so he replaced the radiator. Guess what, I got it back and it overheated. He told me everything is under warranty, but he doesn't want to take responsibility. Told me to drive my car off a cliff, never mind the 7k I just gave you. Told me to go see another mechanic so I did. He told me my radiator wasn't hot and it wasn't getting the correct flow. He said to take it back and try installing another thermostat and start there. He said that he's put in faulty thermostats before. So I go back to Frank and his so called master mechanic of 40 years. They replace the thermostat and I take it for a spin. Not only did it almost over heat, but my engine light came on. They tested the car with their $1200 dollar computer, Frank made sure to let me know that it cost that much, but they tested it while my car was at idle and not while it has a load or while it's driving and told me nothing is wrong with it. Mike his master mechanic told me there's nothing wrong with it and he's not going to merry to it and proceeded to tell me that my temperature gauge is faulty. How does a temperature gauge make my car over heat and my engine light come on with a loss of power?! He again told me to take it somewhere else. Even though he claims it's under a 3 year warranty with unlimited mileage. Oh and by the way, after I paid him for a new water pump and exhaust manifold, and then he told me I needed a new engine, he threw the new water pump and exhaust manifold away without my permission. I supposedly have a new engine that over heats, has the check engine light on, and loss of power, and it leaks too and he refuses to fix it. When I called and spoke with Mike he told me not to be concerned with the check engine light. How am I ever suppose to know when something is wrong then?! I can't even trade it in or sell it because the check engine light is on and it overheats. I'm telling you this people are liars and thief's. I will assume legal action. I have videos and documentation of everything that was said to me and proof that there is a major issue with my car. DO NOT TRUST FRANK OR MIKE!!! read more

I'm not an avid mechanically inclined person, so the minute my vehicle starts making the funny noises, I usually let the noises increase until unrepairable damage ends up being the final summary due to my lack of simple automobile knowledge. But this time, I recognized the noises. I had been attacked by two major dilemmas...my CV joints wear knocking every time I turned and also my brakes were making a squealing noise that sounded similar to a live lobster being tossed into boiling water. My last vehicle had the CV problem and ended up destroyed. Well, Putt Putt had worked hard to get me to destinations far away, so I felt it suiting to make sure that he got fixed before I passed the point of no return on repairability. I knew the owner, Frank and one of his Master Technicians Mike, so I gave them a call after scoping out prices. Not only was Precision's prices the best, but the work was done promptly! They spoke simple plain English to me, since I don't know any technical terminology and helped me process what should be done. One of my major fears has always been mechanics understanding my lack of vehicular knowledge and therefore having an easy way to diminish my already tiny bank account. But these guys were spot on, no rip off, showed me what was up and what may be coming in the future, and instructed me on how to preserve my newly repaired vehicle properly to ensure that this didn't happen again! Originally I gave this business five stars and had nothing but nice words to say. However, I have decided that I needed to update my review and then pubic can decide if they wish to take their vehicles here. First, and foremost the first time I did business here they cut me a fair deal 60 dollars to put in a sensor. That was in my opinion very fair! The same sensor went out so I decided to use them again brought in the part just as last time and they tried charging me a $140 dollars telling me all of sudden they are going by a book which tells them how long it should take. So if the book says it takes 90 minutes and the mechanic does it in 10 minutes you get charged up the ying yang. Even though the first time I was charged $60 dollars originally. As a business you do not change prices on a customer that is the first rule of thumb especially if your a mechanic they should know better. I sent so far two friends to this shop and my girlfriends company business to have work done on all the companies mini vans bringing this shop tons of revenue. Guess what they charged my friends less and my Girlfriends company more. The real kicker is that I bought brake pads at O'Reillys as I like certain brands and ones. They charged me $200 dollars to put the pads on which is technically a job I can do from home as you take one bolt off the caliper lift it up pop the new pads on and pow your done. Most shops will charge you half that if you bring your own pads in seriously! What is even more hilarious is they charged my friend half what they charged me therefore the place is a scam and a swindler. Do not take your vehicle to this place and either will others I know after I tell them this PERIOD! Therefore, they are going to lose out on allot of money from me because I own three vehicles, personal friends and a business. I also inquired about having a blower motor put in. This part is under the passenger seat held by merely two screws and its very accessible. They want to charge me nearly $700 when most shops will do it for $50. This part takes minutes to put in go to youtube type in blower motor installation on a Jeep Cherokee. I get the feeling that this shop is not making an effort to do good business or repeat business. Yeah they are friendly but wouldn't you be friendly if you were pulling in thousands of dollars a day and living the lavish lifestyle because you think your customers are stupid. I am somewhat a backyard mechanic generally I do my own work therefore you cant bullshit me. Only reason why I paid this shop is my arthritis has gotten bad therefore its hard to work with my hands. This shop lost my trust and they lost a customer ENOUGH SAID! I am a business owner we would NEVER treat a paying customer this way we would be fair in price and not show favoritism. My friend gets charged half for all four brakes while I get charged double COME ON! Therefore, they get 1 star and more then likely will lose thousands over this! I just cant use them with a good conscious the owner should be aware that this is going on and address the issue then again it sounds like to me they just do not care! read more

My husband and I drove down from Reno after several recommendations by friends to use this shop. Our Land Rover had a rear axle leak, basically an O ring needed replaced and due to the leaking oil all over the break pad we also needed new rear brake pads. I called countless shops in Reno for this. The base price was $270, and every shop said this was just base price, they all stated it would ABSOLUTELY or DEFINITELY need other parts costing UPWARDS of $700! We just had the rotors turned and everything checked out or replaced so this was some BS! I do not enjoy asking a mechanic why it costs so much and simply being told over and over "because it is a Land Rover" That is no kind of explanation! My husband at this point decided to tackle this himself and buys the parts from the actual Land Rover dealership....$6! However after further study into the repair my husband and I realize that if not done properly the seal will leak again and cause the same problems. My husband does not tackle what he knows he cannot. So after hesitating for a few days because of the drive we decided to go for it and call Precision Axles and drive-lines. My husband wasnt sure at first because he thought they didnt sound to happy on the phone, but they quoted us $180 and we set up the appointment using the parts my husband purchased. We were more than thrilled with our experience! They were great form the get go. We arrived at 8:45 am, Jim took our keys and said he had another car he was finishing up and as soon as that was set he expected about two hours for us. Assuming this was like every other shop my husband and I expected to be waiting well over the two hour deadline. We walked through downtown had a bite to eat and some coffee, and headed back to the shop around 10:50 am. When we arrived the owner greeted us and we chit chatted about how he does business and the usual pleasantries of conversation. He seemed like a very nice and honest man, outspoken but very very nice. At 11:00 am he said "lets get you guys outta here you are all set" My husband and I were shocked! It was ready when they said it would be. Waiting for add on fees my husband asked how much, and again we were told "just the $180". How wonderful is that! The actual price we were quoted over the phone! Jim took our car out for a test drive and brought it round the front for us. He said he cleaned up the bottom and everything looks and runs great. He said we should not see any more oil and it was good as new. Let me tell you it is! It is driving fantastic! The brakes are preforming wonderfully and all is right in my Land Rover world. And just think, I didnt have to spend $700! read more

Yes they do work fast and the man claims he doesn't screw anybody cuz he doesn't need to charge as much blah blah blah and just like the saying goes you get what you pay for. I had a few vehicles worked on there and was referred by someone originally...Well my mother's car which he replaced a right front axle on caused the car to shimmy when it was turning sharply which he told my father at the time was normal...Well after my father passed away I drove her car and I could not believe how bad it was and had her take it to Subaru dealer in Carson City...Which came to find out that it was not the right after market Chinese rebuilt axle and that it was lucky that there was not permanent damage done probably because she did not drive it that much far or very hard..... The second vehicle had wheel bearings done and the vehicle has less than 10k miles on it and they are failing...The last ones went 120k miles inferior parts or something. The last vehicle was a toyota truck with front axle rebuild that was supposed to replace all the seals wheel bearings and other bearings and stop it from leaking....after my 3 rd trip back because it started leaking immediately upon leaving I quit going back...See I marked a couple of things to see if he did the rework and guess what no he did not...Anyway, few years later and after having to park the thing for a year or so because the steering knuckle was leaking so bad I decided to take it apart and for starters the seals were in such bad shape there is no way that they were replaced see they did a shortcut job where you take the whole wheel assembly off in 1 piece and do the scraper seal supposed to do the inner seal but I think they forgot because they never put the top load shims back in since they were missing leading to the trunnion bearing being completely destroyed to the point of shearing it into pieces all for over $600.The work granted was done several years ago but sometimes it takes years to find out what was done! I wish I had been wiser about things years ago but live and learn. This is what you get when its cheap or not so cheap depending on how you look at it! read more
