I transitioned from Kaiser Vision to Carson Vision, and the comparison is not the same. Employees are informative of their product and if the employee doesn't have the answer they'll look for a senior employee or look into the system. I like how I can be reminded of my appointment via email and it can be added into my calendar. When I do go in for my appointment, the wait time is not long and I am in & out. The patience that the employees have with me about choosing glasses is phenomenal, because I am extremely indecisive, but the employees will assist with any decision making with me. read more

I didn't get a chance to check in and give my review for my daughter Brooklyn's appointment yesterday 8/14. She came in for her training to get contacts. From the minute we walked in we were greeted by Lucy, she checked my daughter in and after a few minutes she was out into a room to be seen by Dr. Nguyen, she simply explained to my daughter about the difference with all types of contacts and did a quick examination of her corneas. And off to training she went. Amber was the one who trained my daughter in applying and taking them off. She taught her different techniques to make her feel comfortable. I sat down to complete new patient document and was not waiting very long after completing the paperwork to be seen. Very knowledgeable staff walked me through every step of the process and made sure to answer any and all of my questions. They were very honest with my results and provided helpful tips. NO STARS AT ALL I am the type who will never in a million years post an extensive review of bad customer service. So far, this was the worst. I came in with my family and supposedly with two appointments. I am the recurring patient and my dad the new customer. Unfortunately, my whole family and I came in 5 MINUTES late, 5 MINUTES. Of course, I ultimately understand that we should not have gone in late for even a second but with our experience with appointments, hospital-wise, clinics, etc. 5 minutes late was never a problem. As we tried checking in, the first lady who approached us saying that they have given our spots to a family that consisted of three people. 5 MINUTES late and they gave our spots to three people. As we tried to handle the situation with the receptionist, she then blamed us for being 5 minutes late. She steers it to reasoning with the virus situation and their reopening after telling her that 5 minutes is a brief amount of time and it is not enough of an excuse to move us to the bottom list. What was worse is she repeatedly addressed that "what we are doing at the time is already wasting time", meaning she said it's a waste of time for us to be complaining. Now, if you were the customer, how would you react to that? Another disappointment is when they checked both appointments and shows that they only booked one of us which doesn't include me. The receptionist continued to blame us as she said with an attitude "No, you did not book two with us" when a third party has already asked for my information including my dad's over the phone a month ago. The receptionist then reminded my dad that he should have been 15 minutes early for paperwork that they also failed to disclose over the phone. They only told him to come at the appointment time assuming paperwork will be signed on the dot, not 15 minutes earlier. No, COVID is not an excuse! Reopening is not an excuse to stack up numerous customers when you only had ONE doctor who could not even catch up to so many patients in one day! I suggested that what they could do is give approximate convenient time to all patients for them not to be compromised and feel "tight" only for the assistant to respond to me ill mannerly, "we would only have two patients in a day if that's the case". Listen, that is not my problem nor it will ever be to any customer. It goes to show how poor time management and customer service are. Anything can happen to a patient at a given time, and for you to further worsen it by giving his/her spot to someone else because of checking in 5 minutes late is unacceptable. It is your responsibility to disclose how strictly punctual patients should be even if it's 5 minutes or else you will give away their spots to someone else without regard. Now I understand the handling of COVID-19 and the busy reopening, but it is the management's responsibility to space out everyone's schedule with realistic proximities to accommodate everyone without possible inconvenience to both parties. I have been in Carson Vision for more than two years and it was all good until this happened. I will never come back here nor I will recommend this place to anyone. The optometrist I went to for over a decade is a bit far from me so it was always a hassle to go and sometimes they were too packed. Booking an appointment at Carson Vision was easy! They were very flexible and the staff there is really nice! I was greeted with open arms and they helped me with any and all the questions I had. I was relieved that I didn't have to wait for hours! I would definitely recommend Dr. Nguyen, she was very professional and aided me in any confusion that I had about my vision or the process of getting my sight tested. From booking the appointment to helping me find the perfect pair of glasses at the best, most affordable cost, she was extremely helpful and VERY PATIENT with me (because I was picky with my glasses selection). She also explained things to me about the different type of lenses that I had never heard about at my other optometrist (that i'd been going to for about 15 years). I had a follow up appointment that was made in June of this year. I was scheduled to have my pupils dilated. I was told I needed a driver,after the examination since my pupils would be dilated. I had my daughter take off work to be my driver. She was dropped off at the east entrance to the mall only to find the mall was closed. I phoned the office and got a message that stated the office was open for appointments and pick ups. I walked to the west entrance a found it was closed also. I called again and spoke to someone in the office who gave my directions to another entrance. Once I got inside I discovered they were not going to dilate my pupils. I asked why I was not notified earlier so I would not have to arrange a ride or even waste my time coming. They had no answers. This is a terrible way to run a business. As I said I have had my appointment since June so there was plenty of time to notify me. Time to find another eye doctor. read more

I happened upon Dr. Shiomi's office unexpectedly and ended up finding a doctor I REALLY like and will come back to. I was at work (in Carson) and was having contact issues. I removed my contact to clean it, and it broke, oops! I am BLIND, so there was no question of being able to make it through the day, and the options were get a coworker to drive me all the way home to Redondo Beach to get glasses, to West LA to my usual eye doctor, or find another contact nearby ASAP! I looked up doctors in the area who take VSP insurance, and found Dr. Shiumi's office. I rushed in the second they opened without an appointment and Dr. Michelle Kim was able to see me right away. I wear RGP lenses, which have to be made specially, so Dr. Kim gave me a pair of soft lenses to wear until I got my new pair. She also gave me an extremely thorough eye exam and took pictures of my cornea and optical nerve and then explained them to me. I went back for my followup appointment and lens fitting the next week and again, the visit was fast and the doctor really took care to ensure that my lenses were fitting properly. Overall, I was extremely happy with my experience. I wasn't expecting anything great out of the initial visit, I just desperately needed contacts. In the end, I found a new eye doctor! read more

1. After 2 weeks of waiting, I called them myself only to find out the glasses I wanted was back ordered. 2. I called them again after waiting for another two weeks to find out that my glasses have been ready for a while but the lady failed to inform me she had everything put in that my insurance cover, such as transitions that I didn't want in the first place 3. I called them again after 2 weeks and was told that my new glasses have been ready yet again. TL;DR--they don't call you at all if anything is ready or if there's a problem. read more
