Well my son gave us gift card for Christmas and said he heard good things about this place. He heard correct. I suggest reservations as this place was packed on a Saturday. We were seated within 5 minutes of arriving and loved the second floor dining with great view of outside. (If you are not able to walk up stairs I would suggest a downstair seating). Every employee we were in contact was very courteous and engaging. Food and drink options are plenty and very hard to make a decision. But our waitress was very patient and answered our questions. Food was outstanding. Popovers are awesome and they give you 2 butter options - these are on the house. Both our dishes were excellent Carbonara and Chicken marsala was made to perfection. We had the upside-down pineapple cake - very good. Will come back in the summer as it looks like there is some outside seating. FYI - Parking is limited and we parked down the street on a very cold February night. I think the only downfall of the evening.

I started the evening by knocking over the vase of flowers on the table when I tried to move the table. I arrived at 6 pm, and the table was pushed flush to the bench seat, making it impossible to sit down. Luckily, the vase didn't break... there was just water everywhere. Fortunately, the staff member was very chill about it & said it happens all the time. Once the water was cleaned up, I felt the need for a cocktail. I ordered the Black Maple Old Fashioned, which I highly recommend. The maple came through & it was an easy sipper. My friend & I devoured the Popovers (served with salted butter and Maple Cinnamon Whipped Butter) before we thought to snap photos of them. They were huge, piping hot, and oh-so delicious with all that melted butter... as they are complimentary, make sure to ask for more (if you can find room in your belly)! My friend & I shared our appetizers, which was a great way to try more than one. The mushroom toast was INCREDIBLE. Seriously, go just for that, if nothing else. The arancini were good, but I think I would have liked the sauce on the side because having the dish arrived sauced took away from the crisp texture I'd expect from the appetizer. When my entree, the Chicken Milanese, arrived, I was confused. There seemed to be a whole lot of greens & no chicken to be found. I expected thinly pounded cutlets, but how wrong I was! The chicken was thick & juicy, deliciously breaded and crisp. I loved every bite and cleaned my plate. Sadly, despite reviewing the dessert menu, I couldn't find it in me to order anything sweet to cap off the meal. I guess that means I'll just have to go back!

The ambiance of this restaurant is cozy and elegant. I have had several delicious cocktails here before. It's a great date night spot. After hearing from others how great the food at this restaurant was, I couldn't wait to try it! So, I was disappointed today when my service was subpar. Our waiter was very inattentive. He didn't tell us the specials, he came to our table once during the whole service, and he never asked how we liked our meals or if we needed more water etc. it was very odd. He didn't even bring us our food! It was almost like he was ignoring us, he seemed very chatty at other table. On top of the terrible service, my food was almost inedible. I'm going to preface this next comment by saying I love spicy foods. I get Diablo hot sauce at Taco Bell, I get comfortably order level 3 spicy curry, I ALWAYS add the spice bomb to my pho. But this dish was like gates of hell opened up and shot flames into my mouth. Satan himself could have touched his pitchfork to my tongue and it wouldn't have burned as bad. I know it was listed as a spicy dish - it's the fra diavolo! I expected a little spice. But wow. My lips were scorched, my eyes watered, it was a whole thing. On top of being embarrassed by my apparent lack of spice tolerance (not true), I couldn't even enjoy my food. Worst part : the waiter never came to refill our waters. My Caesar salad was okay! Nothing special. Overall, for a $65 dinner for myself, it was not worth it. I would come back for cocktails, but never again for food.

Finally after 3 years , I got to come back to Carte Blanc for their dinner menu . I received a favordrop offer for $15 off - so I feel like it was necessary to use it ! Boy , was I a happy customer. The complimentary popovers were delicious . I ordered the famous mushroom toast as an appetizer - mouth watering and full of flavor . I had a hard time choosing an entree but settled with the Cacio e Pepe - pasta so good that I couldn't help but finishing every last bite ! Our server was attentive and professional . Atmosphere is cozy without being too loud and cramped . Treat yourself to dinner here when you are in the south towns , you won't be disappointed!

    Short rib dinner.

Been here before and knew we liked it. The menu just changed to the fall menu and there were new things to try. People around us recommended the short rib so we tried that and the carbonara plus chicken. Can i cut to the chase? Order the short ribs. They were tender and flavorful and smoky at the ends. Served over mashed with glazed carrots. A portion that fills a big appetite and doesn't bury a small one. Rich and hearty and exactly what you hope short ribs would be. The carbonara was buttery smooth with chunks of bacon and vegetables. I added chicken breast which was cooked perfectly and sliced to near bite size portions. The cocktails were the star of the show. Shawn referred the complex tasks to JJ who well may be a myth. He mixed up amazing craft cocktails that everyone around me was swooning about. Does he have a PhD in mixology? He doesn't even have a vest or a curly mustache so not sure how he does it but everyone there seemed to know his role. JJ is the he master mixologist and Shawn is his protoje. If you are looking for a downtown experience in the southtowns head to carte blanche. Food is amazing. Mixed drinks are creative A F. And i'm a beer guy. Fyi lunch on tap.

With so many options in the menu like pasta, chicken, seafood ,pork chops and steak I narrowed it down to the beet Alfredo. With speedy service and a smile I got this incredible entree, it was beet Alfredo sauce over linguine with lemon basil creme on top ,parmesian and sunflower seeds and was so tasty .For dessert I got the perfect autumn inspired pumpkin fritters with a side of Carmel sauce for dipping and was so delicious. .

I came back, also not super dressed up, and got a spot at the bar. A total 180 of an experience, bartender was really great to chat with, food was still phenomenal. I'm super happy I was able to have a better experience here.

Carte Blanche has been on my radar for quite a while and I'm so glad my friends and I chose this restaurant to celebrate our birthdays. We were all born the first week in March and decided to go out and have a nice meal. I made reservations on Open Table, and it was seamless. We were seated and told we had a 90 minute time limit because there were other reservations coming in. Our reservation was at 6 pm. I started off the dinner with a New York Sour. I can't say no to a New York Sour. Those drinks are superb. If you haven't tried one, get out and do it. It is a game changing cocktail. We received an amuse-bouche as well, which was watermelon with goat cheese on top. I liked that. We also got a popover a piece, and that piece of carb was delectable. I ordered the special - a steak with espresso sauce, asparagus and horseradish potatoes. The dinner was exceptional. Unfortunately, I had an allergic reaction to something I ate and ended up a couple hours later taking two Benedryl. I was wheezing and having trouble breathing. It was nothing the restaurant did, obviously. I don't know what I'm allergic to and it happens at various times. I just keep Benedryl close at hand. I would definitely come here again. I liked the vibes of the place and the decor.

It was a Thursday night around 5:30 pm. We did not have a reservation. Restaurant was about half full at that time, with lots of indoor and outdoor options. We chose to sit inside and JoHannah was our server. First off, service: JoHannah (that's how it sounded, but might not be spelled right) was excellent! She was friendly, super knowledgable about the specials and the menu, very efficient, and attentive. She was there as soon as we needed her before we even called her over. Service out of the kitchen was great too - time from ordering to being served was short and courses came out without too much time in between. Second, food: everything we ate was delicious. Food seemed high quality with nice presentation. We had a cup of the Italian wedding soup (soup of the day) to start - it was possible to have a cup or a bowl, and it came with a packet of crackers. It was great - broth was flavorful without being too herby, had a good amount of pastina, meatballs and cheese, and the cup was a nice amount before the appetizer. Next, we shared the special appetizer of burrata with a local peach and jalapeño salsa, over a bed of arugula dressed with a lemony dressing, served with crostini. It was very very good. The salsa was very flavorful and the perfect combo of textures and sweet, spicy, salty. For our main, we had decided we definitely wanted dessert, so we split a dish - we got a 10-oz steak with asparagus, and what was described as shoe-string fries. A side of béarnaise came with the steak. Steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly, and the béarnaise was a delicious accompaniment. The fries were 'regular fries' in our opinion, not 'shoe-string', which are usually much thinner. But they were fresh and crispy. For dessert, there were so many options! This was definitely one of the best dessert menus I've seen around - besides gelato, chocolate lava cake and cannoli (which everyone seems to have these days), they offered affogato, several cakes, and the cheesecake, which we got, which had raspberry, blueberries and pistachios. We thought it was delicious - a generous slice and perfect for sharing. All together with tax, it was the perfect amount of food for us, and the bill (we did not have any drinks) was almost exactly $100. We consider that, for the experience and food quality, to be a great value. Final notes: They brought out a basket of their homemade rosemary sourdough bread with regular whipped (unsalted) butter and a 'butter of the day' (which on this day was (we think) blueberry) for the table. The bread was so good we ate the entire small loaf - and we probably shouldn't have done that only because we were extremely full by the time we finished dessert! Also, ambiance inside is nice - feels a little fancy, though diners were all dressed comfortably, many in shorts. I would think this is a great spot for date nights, birthdays or family dinners where you want to feel special. There is a small parking lot right next to the restaurant and street parking too. Reservations are recommended for weekends (and by the time we left, around 7:15 pm, the whole restaurant inside and out was packed!) We'll be back!
