My friends an I had a great tasting at Cartograph Wines. There was a group of 11 of us and we didn't make a reservation. They weren't willing to give each of us a tasting, which was understandable, but they did agree to do 6 tastings so we just shared. The employees are really friendly and the story behind their wines and the name of the winery is interesting. There is limited seating but they have a beautiful space in the back with a table that accommodates about 10 people. There is also a lounge seating area that seats about 4-5. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend it for a casual tasting. read more

What can I say, one of the best tasting room experiences ever. Newly located in their own space just off the square in Healdsburg, Cartograph offers a variety of Pinot Noir as well as Gewertz and Rose to make you smile from ear to ear. The first winery to have wines on tap in HBG, you can stop in for a taste, a glass, or a full on experience depending on your mood. The tasting room staff is friendly and informed, and it's clear that everyone is passionate about the wine. Ever changing, the winemaker is expanding his brand with new wines every year, pinots from different vineyards, bubbles in the near future, and Sangiovese as well . I've been a wine club member, a friend, and a loyal cheerleader since the inception and I will continue to be! Must stop in HBG. They are open late (6:30) for those pre dinner tasters, and the people watching from the front windows is second to none. Really fantastic service - I wish I remembered her name! We were in the area on our honeymoon and as pretty savvy wine buyers (and drinkers!) we had such a good time. Most of the time we're the youngest in the room and people assume we know nothing, so talk to us like we're children, but this associate was fantastic! We learned a lot and loved their Pinots. Love, LOVE, LOVE these wines. Such quality and reasonably priced. The winemaker/owners Serena and Alan are so down to earth as well, it's great to support people who are in the business for their true passion to make amazing Pinot Noir. Their wines are really stellar and are made to showcase the fruit, not overly manipulated or oaked at all. They just opened a new tasting room in Healdsburg that is just gorgeous! Superb wines, beautiful tasting room, no pretentiousness. Definitely a must visit if you're up North. They're right off the square, perfect location and great for groups too. read more

Wonderful tasting experience for the savvy taster. Walking down Center Street in Healdsburg we stumbled across Cartograph Winery. Cartograph focuses on small lot Pinot Noir but their Ferrington Vineyard Guwurztraminer is a stunner as well. We tasted at the bar the day that we went in but it looked like there was a lounge area as well. We were on more of a "taste and buy" game plan for that particular day so the bar suited us fine. The team behind the bar was extremely friendly and well educated on the wines. Erica was our point person that walked us through our tasting and she also made some local recommendations of things to do in town. Mixed up a four pack of three bottles of Pinot Noir and a bottle of the Guwurtz. If you appreciate good Pinot Noir this place is a must! I will be back. read more

The last winery on my jaunt through Napa and Sonoma, I was pretty impressed with this small place in Healdsburg. The people working the tasting room are really great to chat with, I enjoyed spending a bit of time with both of them. The decor of the place is very impressive, very polished. The tasting fee was $10 which I thought was very reasonable and they poured a couple of their whites and a couple of their reds. The whites were different than most Sonoma wineries... a Riesling and a Gewürztraminer, much more what I'm used to coming from upstate NY. I was impressed, there were both well composed, not too sweet, and had a nice acidity. They could have both used a bit more minerality, but overall, some solid wines. The pinots they tasted were also quite good; not the best I had in Sonoma, but certainly nothing to scoff at. read more

We stopped in with a group of 6 and no reservation. Anna happily accepted our large group for a tasting. I'm not a Pinot fan and really enjoyed all of the wines. The story behind the label is very cute. The service and wine would bring me back if I'm ever in the area in the future. read more

This is probably the worst winery that I've ever been to. Not only did the one in be completely disrespectful, but she try to pass this off to someone else. The person that was completely disrespectful was named Tara. The new person Kylie was extremely friendly and was supportive of the entire experience. No matter what I would say never to go to this winery though because of the way that she treated new people. read more

We had a fantastic experience at Cartograph. We went on a Saturday. We were able to walk in and do a guided tasting. Because it wasn't busy, we were able to get the full attention of our pourer. We were able to learn a lot about the wine and a lot about her. I always find it more fun when we can get to know someone while drinking wine. Overall a great experience. read more

What a lovely experience. The pinots are complex and fun. My husband and I were both able to find something for our very different palettes. Serena walked us through our tasting. She was very friendly, approachable, and lacking so much of the pretense you sometimes find in tasting rooms. Great little winery in the heart of downtown Healdsburg. Wines are above average, but service is what really distinguishes them from the typical tasting room. The manager (Erika) REALLY knows her stuff and made us feel welcome. Great wine at a reasonable price. We so surprisingly loved the Gewürztraminer that we got two bottles to take home for our weekly Sunday brunch to compliment our Braised Pork Shoulder and it didn't disappoint. I'm so happy winemakers have stopped making Gewurzt so sweet. This was dry as a bone with a very nice flavor. Also love their Pinots which lean towards the feminine style. Worth a stop! read more

Whether you are a local or a tourist, I highly recommend visiting the Cartograph tasting room. My husband and I have been club members since the beginning. We were immediately won over by Serena and Alan, the owners. Put simply, they are good people who happen to make AMAZING wine. I am an unapologetic Pinot snob, and they know how to make it incredibly well. They also make a dry Rosé and Gewürztraminer that are fantastic. The tasting room is modern and inviting, and the staff are wonderful. We like to get a glass of wine and sit by the window and people-watch, or bring in friends to do tastings and sit on the big comfy couch. We have thoroughly enjoyed every visit. read more

From the moment you step in front of their tasting room, you're in for a treat. The day my boyfriend and I went to get our first glimpse, the windows were filled with a beautiful display of graduated cylinders filled with red and green liquid, perfect for December. The tasting room itself, donned in blue and grayish tones, is really spectacular. Every detail was clearly thought out and the ambiance is really great, a wonderful tribute to its wonderful town. The wine list was really lovely, our favorite being the Rosé of Pinot, which was a surprise to both my boyfriend and I as neither one of us is a particularly big fan of Rosés. It was perfectly sweet, crisp, and will be a really tasty addition to any meal this spring or summer. (We also tasted a Gewurtztraminer and 3 Pinots, 2 from Russian River Valley and 1 from Anderson Valley). A trip to Cartograph is definitely worth your time regardless of the weather so plan well and bring people you love because you'll be in for a treat. Oh, and can't forget the staff! Alan and Serena have nailed the art of making elegant Pinot Noir's. The wine is as effortless as it is flavorful. The passion for the craft is apparent no matter who in the tasting room you speak with, but if you happen to have a conversation with Alan or Serena see the love they have for there boutique winery and the wines they produce. Beautiful Pinot Noirs in a lovely downtown Healdsburg tasting room! Friendly staff, accessible owners and great wine...did I already mention that?!? Love their Pinot - and nice dry white wines :) Cartograph makes a great Rose' & Sangiovese too - but they sell out fast and are long gone now! They made Pinot Noir magnums too this year - I should have bought more when available!! Love Cartograph - stop in for a taste the next time you are in town :) read more
