I've always loved coming here when I'm in town. It was busy on a weeknight, waited 20 minutes. They need to update their menu to include vegetarian options. No eggplant parm, no veggie lasagna or pasta dishes. Even the minestrone has meat in it. So I ordered veggie pizza. Pricey for what it was, but very good. Breadsticks were hard though. We ordered takeout since our family in Indiana has a 2 year old that doesn't do great in restaurants. My husband ordered the sausage roll and it was huge. He rates it 4/5. My chicken marsala was not good. The broccoli was delicious but the chicken was swimming in oil. The menu description said lightly breaded so I was thinking just a seasoned flour dredge. This was definitely a normal three layer breaded chicken. Just look at the picture of all the oil in the container, yuck. I would never order this again. My friend and I came to your restaurant last evening for the first time in twenty five years. We were excited to visit again. When we arrived at 8 pm we were told you had closed early. Another couple walked in at the same time and they were just as surprised. The host working did not seem prepared to answer questions and it left a poor impression. The couple was upset. We accepted the disappointment and left. It is not a nice experience for customers when posted hours are not followed and there are no updates on social media. Our waiter was Brady S and was polite and efficient. Wine tasted just right and nicely chilled. I ordered the lasagna and it came on a plate that was not scalding at all. After quite a while the waitress returned to reconfirm our order, which seemed strange. At about 6:15 PM a member of the wait staff approached me as I was walking to the restroom, said "good bye," and thanked me for bringing in a group of diners. That is because quite a few from our group had already finished their meals. I told her we had not even received our food. I also stopped our waitress at around 6:15 PM and she said food would be out soon. I commented that we had not even gotten our breadsticks. She said we told her not to bring them until the meal, which was a total fabrication. Most of our party of several tables were very happy with their meals and service And most had already finished and were on their way out but another table with the same waitress as us was also still waiting for their food. Bread sticks came after a while. Food not delivered until 6:30 PM. No explanation. No recognition of our long, long wait. No apology. My wife's meal was delicious. My eggplant parmigiana featured tough eggplant skin that was inedible. The group would have rated Caruso's higher. We had a poor experience and we wanted to like it. It was some of the best Italian cuisine I have had recently. I had the veal Marsala. It is made fresh Nice creamy and smooth sauce. The fettuccine noodles were cooked a little past al dente though and there was a taste from the pasta that reminded me of well water. It did not keep me from eating the pasta. The Caesar Salad was good. When I think of Caesar Salad I think of homemade crouton, lettuce with torn--not cut--leaves, raw or coddled eggs, Parmesan cheese and anchovies. I was a little surprised by the "UP" charge for the two anchovy slices. It was only two bucks though and it made the salad pretty epic. My wife had the shrimp scampi. My wife and I found this restaurant on our travels to Pokagon State Park. This restaurant was supposed to kill it. They have a fine salad with pepperoni, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, pepperoncinis and grated parmesan. The House Special pizza is better than most pizza joints with pepperoni, sausage, onion, mushroom and green bell peppers. It is worth the visit if you are in the area. Talk about nickel and dime. Before that, let talk about the menu. This is one of those 'Italian' places where the chef visited New York in the 70's and never actually went to Italy. The menu is extremely dated so don't expect any of the wonderful food Italy has to offer. My wife ordered the sausage roll and asked to substitute the mushrooms for green olives. When the dish arrived, my wife asked if she might have a little marinara sauce on the side. We were actually charged $2.50 for substituting the green olives and another $2.50 for $0.10 of sauce (which I'm sure they were running low on.) Unfortunately due to limited dining options in the area you might be forced to eat there. Enjoy your 70's New York food. There is an authentic Italian restaurant similar to this one in Toronto, but this one beats it hands down. The decor was beautiful. There were old photos on the wall and just beautiful stone and wood architecture. The booths are a bit tight, but that was the only problem we had. Our waiter was Landon, and he was excellent. He attended to every need and was very personable and professional. This restaurant has a separate gluten-free menu, and it was impressive. It was the first time I've EVER seen gluten-free ravioli on a menu, but unfortunately, it was stuffed with mushrooms. Would've loved to have seen cheese or meat stuffed. I did order the grilled chicken parmesan, which came with gluten-free penne pasta. The marinara sauce was to-die-for!. Very authentic tasting. Delicious food. The salad was very fresh, and I would've licked that ranch dressing off the floor! lol Loved the atmosphere too. This is s great Italian restaurant tucked away in Angola Indiana. I had the lasagna, side salad and breadsticks. Overall the whole meal was delish. The service was excellent. I was stuck in traffic and arrived 30 minutes late. Our server worked my meal somehow with the kitchen to come out within minutes of the rest of the table. Hopefully the in-person experience is better but here's what to expect from there carry out services... the fries were soggy and covered in sauce from god knows what. Alfredo had an intense lack of cheese making it more or less buttered noodles and the mushroom soup was pretty rough. I'm slightly confused because for an Italian restaurant it doesn't really make much sense for them to mess up Alfredo. We now realize not all ownership should host - it takes warmth and empathy and the lack thereof should have been a signal. 45 minutes is a long time to wait....but an honest estimate of 70 would have been appreciated, even if it meant they missed a first time customer. Will say the designated waiting couch in bar is comfortable. Only those with a barstool reservation can order a drink at the bar- I was directed to "the couch" and then spent 25 minutes on it waiting for someone to acknowledge me. So, they pushed a couple tables together and that's what we were told is all is available. About 15 mins later, a group of people come in, they took them over to that table and seated them. Stopped in for dinner with some friends and I must say everyone seemed to be very quick and ready for everything. There was a wait about 20 minutes. We were seated and our waiter came and was very prompt and made sure we all were satisfied with our drinks. We had mozzarella sticks and bread sticks for appetizers. Next time I'll skip the bread sticks because your meal comes with 1. The mozzarella sticks were so great made fresh with fresh mozzarella. The cheese was so fresh they almost fell apart when you pick them up. They were so yummy. For dinner I had chicken Alfredo it was very good.
