We stood in the lobby for over an hour with two young kids while staff repeatedly walked past us and ignored us. We chose Carvana because we thought the process would be quick and efficient for our family, but the in-person experience was anything but that. They said the car was still being detailed when we arrived despite our appointment being scheduled weeks in advance. When I asked for help, an employee brushed me off and never came back. Early communication via chat, phone, and email was prompt and professional. The transaction failed due to complications with my driver's license, which was not issued by the state where I currently live (military). Carvana requested additional DMV verification after paperwork and payment were complete. I was initially told the issue would take 2-3 days to resolve. After seven days, Carvana canceled the transaction without warning, stating they could not obtain the required DMV information and could not continue holding the vehicle. Customer service could not reinitiate the transaction, even though the vehicle remained listed for sale. They also could not provide records of prior interactions or the original purchase agreement, which disappeared from the app when the order was canceled. While both my down payment and shipping fee were eventually refunded, the process took over a week and lacked transparency. If you are paying cash or financing through Carvana and have a driver's license from your state of residence, the process will likely be smooth. However, Carvana struggled with a fairly common military scenario. The concept is strong, but customer service needs better tools to resolve non-standard cases. I had an appointment to sell my old car I had since college. I arrived 10 minutes prior to the appointment and sat inside to wait as nobody came out to acknowledge me or assist me. There was also no visible employees in and outside the building perimeter upon arrival. After nearly 20 minutes of waiting, another 2 customers came in to purchase a vehicle. By then, still nothing. Nobody's come out from the office area. Once a third set of customers arrived some 10+ extra minutes later, someone finally came out the back room and immediately acknowledged and attempted assisting them. By then, I had sat patiently for nearly an hour and well past my appointment time. I got up and left as did the other 2 customers who were there to buy a car. Mind you they were willing to purchase a Porsche in stock. The customers the employee decided to assist first didn't even have his driver's license, registration, or title available to sell his car. I ended up selling my car via getting the car towed from home instead of dropping it off at the Carvana location. Yes, it costed me $40 to have that done. But the process was way easier, faster, and the tow truck driver was pleasant and professional to deal with. I don't trust the Carvana inspection report, there is no way this car was "detailed." Every exterior seam and crevice is dirty--like it sat in the desert for a few months--the windshield has about four or five chips and cracks in it, and the cabin smells like the ashtray of a heavy smoker. It also did not get washed after transport because I had to scrub the dead bugs off the front and back. On the mechanical side, the rear differential leaks and the Carvana Warranty does not cover it. read more

I used the SLC, UT Carvana. I live in grand junction, CO and Carvana won't deliver or pick up or deliver here. So I had to drive 2 1/2 hours. I think Denver is a bit closer but the weather is typically worse. First of all, not being able to test drive the car is a real bummer. I had to pay $690 to get it shipped there so just to test drive it I had to do at least that vs a free test drive at a dealership. Once the car was in front of me I wasn't able to really see it. It was raining and there's no cover so driving it was not a good experience. So now I'm returning it, though if I had been able test drive it without all the paperwork in purchasing it, I would have much less of a headache. The process itself isn't difficult, but having to pay for the shipping and not really knowing what you're getting is not a pleasant experience. I looked for an option to just see cars that do not require being shipped, but did not see that. The worst part is not really getting to test it before buying. Maybe just me, but for a big purchase like this not being able to test it and get a good look made me feel a bit sick about the purchase. Since I did a trade in I was pretty much left with little option but to drive it back since returning the car doesn't get you your trade in back. I was shopping around for a specific car and found one which had my ideal specifications from Carvana. As this one was labeled as "coming soon", I placed $100 to reserve the car once available. When the car was available, I had 48 hours to complete the purchase to keep my my reservation, however, the car itself became unavailable for me to complete the purchase, with the counter still winding down. With Carvana's AI assistant pretty much useless, I was finally able over a few phone calls on different days to get a rep. who relayed only that some work had to be done on the car and extended my reservation for another two days. Once available, I paid the $990 nonrefundable shipping fee and set up the appointment to pick the car up. The pickup process was fast and smooth and staff at the Gaithersburg location were friendly. This was the only positive of my experience. Over my first drive home with the car, I noticed a knocking noise coming from the car. I already pre-scheduled a 3rd party inspection during my 7 day return period, and brought this issue up at their shop. It turns out that the transmission was dangling freely and loosely, on the verge of falling off on a brace which was secured with only 1 of 4 bolts! The tech was able to bounce the entire transmission and connected drivetrain up and down with his hands with the car on the lift. Carvana boasts on its robust safety inspections and I cannot believe the sheer incompetence from their techs to miss something this obvious. The dangling transmission and mount was not covered with any underbody panel and would have been obvious for anyone to see if they had just simply looked at the car on a lift. My shop luckily found some bolts and remedied this on the spot. They also found other issues - grooved rotors which need replacing, the exhaust resonators were removed, the 2nd coolant reservoir was almost completely empty, an electrical compartment was missing its protective cover and intake mounting grommets missing. In addition, I found the cosmetic condition of the car was also much worse than disclosed on the Carvana listing, which only disclosed 3 chips on the bumper and hood and some wear on the seat bolster. Turns out that the entire bumper is completely peppered in rock chips not visible in the listing. There are huge scrapes in the paint along the entire underside of the passenger side bumper and side skirts. On the interior, the leather dashboard is warped and separating from the dash at 3 places, all of the grab handles are missing from the headliner, and the rear rear passenger lighting control switches are inoperable. What a complete joke of a condition disclosure policy by Carvana. During the 7-day inspection period I tried to mitigate these issues through their online claims process. For the brakes, I was given anautomated notice that brakes are not covered. For the engine bay issues such as the low coolant and missing electrical housing cover and grommets, I must take it to one of their recommended shops for them to look at and file a claim, so I am just ordering my own out of pocket. For the undisclosed cosmetic, I found that I was only able to submit up to 3 claims. I did and was notified that 2 of 3 would be covered. For these, I would have to make an appointment with 3 shops that Carvana lists on the claim. Of course, it turns out that one is out of business and the others do not perform the interior work which the claims are for, so I have to figure out how Carvana/Silverock will let me take it to a place who can. For the scrapes in the paint on the underside of the car, I will not be able to submit those due to the limit of 3 cosmetic claims. In summary for cosmetic issues, Carvana will not disclose nearly the extent of cosmetic deficiencies and you will only be able to submit up to 3 cosmetic deficiency claims. I have not been able to get past Carvana's AI chatbot and speak to a representative to ask if any remediation can be made with me due to the overall poor condition of the car they sold me. My car purchase experience from Carvana turned from one of excitement to one filled with regret, stress and disappointment. Constantly on my mind during the 7-day return period was do I keep the car after sinking almost $1,500 on nonrefundable shipping fees, 3rd party inspection? Do I return the car back to Carvana with the sheer audacity that I paid them a nonrefundable $990 and fixed the transmission for them, replaced some engine bay components and topped off the fluid for them so that they can sell it to another person? Folks, just don't purchase a car from Carvana and do this to yourselves. If you do, always perform your own inspection, ancitipate that the shipping fee is nonrefundable and that the car will arrive in much worse condition than listed with little to no inspection or refurbishment performed, and the claims process will not be effective during your 7-day trial. I hope your experience is better than mine was. read more

We even had a person come pick up the car since since live in VA and they'll come get it for a fee (which is just a deduction from the amount they pay you for it). Carvana's advertised 150-point inspection stated there was no tire vibration, which is incorrect. The vehicle has had a clear vibration at highway speeds since delivery, something that should have been caught during inspection. I contacted Carvana and they refused to address the issue, despite it directly contradicting their own inspection report. I made a substantial purchase of a new Mercedes - one year old. The transaction was easy enough, and they weee very nice to work with. But - the vehicle which passes state inspection and their "150 point inspection" doesn't have a wind screen washing functioning. There is a significant transmission issue (easily fixed). And yes, I can bring it back within 7 days, but since it's still under warranty, I'll just bring it to the MB dealership who will do a better job to be sure. Carvana put me on the road with a car that wasn't entirely safe, drivable? Sure. But issues shifting down to 4th from 5th that engage emergency breaking is a real road risk. I'm disappointed. Love my car, just wish I bought it in the condition advertised. If anyone drove this on the highway or over 40MPH they would have seen this was an issue. Pros- Fixed price, much like CarMax, 100% online from start of inquiry to schedule pickup. Very fair value for either trade-in/resale for cash. I paid cash, but financing and insurance is available option. Biggest plus is HUGE selection of used cars. Cons- Biggest disappointment to me was- 1. Zero in house post sale support. No introduction to your new car. Just "sign here, here's your keys, have a good day. Then ONE guy runs around like an animal supporting the entire site facility. 2. Dirty, smelly, unkempt, and, again, nobody to complain or fix. Remember It's your car before you ever see it!! 3. They don't warrant/guarantee "removable items." For example, This includes owners manual, floor mats, charging cable (if it's plug-in, hybrid), keys to lug nuts , first aid kit, tire tools/jack, spare tire, etc. My hybrid had almost 22,000 Myles in 2023 Hyundai. As a good practice for any used car purchase decided to replace the cabin air filter and engineer filter. Boy-oh-boy, was I glad I did. With just a little over 20,000 original miles there was leaves in the cabin air filter and black debris particles in the engine intake filter. All tire pressure was in the green, but there's a wide variation from the highest to the lowest psi. Indicating zero inspection of anything on the vehicle. The process was easy, but be prepared to return within seven days per the policy should that be your COA. read more

They didn't go over my truck and after getting home it kinda pointless now because there's new additional damage that was on the truck when I picked it up. I even had to have them air up the rear passenger tire because it was roughly 30# under. The interior didn't get a once over either. I had to delete at least 4 or 5 phones from the trucks Bluetooth. The truck is fine, it's a work truck, it's doing it's job. I just wish it had been done better so that I didn't feel like I kinda got took for extra. First time using Carvana so I was nervous. Carvana offered $2000 more than the dealerships and Carmax so I was skeptical about it. I read their reviews and Carvana seems like a legit company. I had some questions and called their 1800 numbers but couldn't reach the live agent on the phone. The best way to contact them was via texting. I did have some problems uploading my information. I had to upload the same documents several times. Once they received the documents, it took a few hours for them to verify the documents and accept my offer. You can drop off your car or have them pick it up for a fee. We chose the drop-off option and made an appointment. The address they gave me wasn't one of their hubs. It was an auction lot, run by a company called Adesa. When we got there the main entrance door was locked. There were security guards by the parking lot but none of them worked for Carvana. They said just wait at the parking lot. A few minutes after 3 pm (our appointment time) a guy from Carvana came out of a side door. He was friendly and assured us that he worked for Carvana. He took some pictures and checked out the car. The whole process took about 15 minutes. He gave us the check for the agreed-upon price. Overall, we had a good experience using Carvana to sell our Madza 3. We would use Carvana again if we ever need to sell our cars. read more

Don't trust r/Carvana subreddit. Regretting My Carvana Purchase - 2016 GLE 350 Has Been a Nightmare Purchased a 2016 Mercedes GLE 350 from Carvana on July 10, 2025 with ~70-80K miles. Deeply regretting it and wanted to share my experience. Problems discovered: Worn tires: Completely worn on delivery. Was discovered in state inspection. The guy told me that he passes it but recommended to change tires immediately. I paid out of pocket but later discovered that I might have had it replaced under Carvana's 100 day warranty. How did this even pass Carvana inspection? At least, they could have mentioned this in the description. Electrical issues: Blind spot and lane keeping assist are not stable since the day I bought the car. They sometimes work and sometimes don't work. I had them 'repaired' in MB of Burlington (MA) dealership within my 100-day warranty period. The repair was not properly done but that is another story (Service at MB of Burlington sucks). Most recent issues in November-December 2025 (1 month after 100-day warranty expired): Electrical issues: Turn signals stopped working mid-drive. Only worked after engine restart. Intermittent and unreliable - major safety concern. Engine failure: Recent severe shaking, blinking check engine light. Diagnosed as cylinder 5 misfire and ignition coil failure. Vehicle is now unsafe to drive. Repair estimate: material cost $250 for one ignition coil, $22 for one spark plug + $160/hour labor (Total minimum ~$600 to repair only one cylinder, $2400 for all cylinders + taxes). Pattern suggests this might have developed before I bought it. Deferred maintenance: Service B was overdue at 1 month after 100 days warranty expired (Cost: ~$900 + taxes). The frustrating part: All of these should have been caught in Carvana's "150-point inspection" and should have been included in the car's description. But Carvana has intentionally hid these details. I'm now facing minimum $1500 - $3500 + taxes in immediate repairs for basic safety and maintenance issues on a vehicle I just purchased. My advice: If you use Carvana, get an independent inspection within the 7-day return window. Don't trust their inspection at all. Or don't buy from them if you're looking for something at ~$20K.
