Overall 3.5 Stars for food, service and ambiance. Food: 3.5 stars For dinner we stopped at this local Mexican restaurant. It isn't your local typical Mexican food where the food is covered in queso or the ground beef taste "bland". Most of the foods were regional type dishes but you will find your favorites such as fajitas, tacos and burritos. We ordered the Loco Rice - grilled chicken, rice, covered in queso a grilled onions and jalapeños. The other two dishes were the Carne Asada, grilled flank steak, cooked frijoles (beans) / rice, grilled leeks and jalapeño and Grilled Cameron's (shrimp) w rice, avacados and diced tomatoes. All were 3.5 stars. Nothing stood out to be outstanding but could have been with a little bit more acidity (lime / lemon) or cumin / cayenne seasoning. The food were cooked well but it just missed "something". The outstanding part of our meal was the salsa. It was seasoned well and it wasn't your water-down tomato based salsa with a hint of chopped onions or cilantro and lime. Service was a little bit better than average and server was good but we had to ask a couple of times for certain items. And it wasn't too busy at the time. The restaurant has a bar with multiple tables and booths and can get pretty loud during "happy hour" or dinner time. It can be fun with a lot of people or hanging at the bar. With specialized drinks, the bar tender is happy to make it for you. Though we didn't get any speciality drinks. We will come again to try other meal options and review once again. I think the restaurant can get a higher review because they have different regional meal options. read more

The salsa, chips and service were good. The main dishes were mediocre at best. The speed of service was ok, but accuracy suffered as they took my wife's plate to another table. After realizing the problem, they made a new plate. It was undercooked and made her sick. She vomited all night long. I'll start out by saying the food was really good.. this is probably the best Mexican restaurant in Starkville if you want good Mexican food. (Only reason why I'm even giving it 3 stars) Now the service is a different story. My husband & I ate there tonight and I ordered street tacos and he got fajitas. I got the street tacos the last time I was there and they came with a lime and some type of sauce. Our server was very nice when she came to our table ,she took our drink order and food order and came back with our drinks. 10 minutes later our food came out. We never saw our server again. Our drinks stayed empty the entire time and I never got a lime for my tacos. My husband spotted her sitting down at a table on her phone. I worked in the restaurant industry for 6 years and I know how tough the job can actually get and I understand that sometimes you get down time and need to sit down and take a break but you can't just abandon your table for a whole 30 minutes. and I know that tips is how servers make their money but I wanted to skip out on the tipping because I was so disappointed in how bad the service was and I usually leave 25% but we ended up leaving a little bit but only because I know how the service industry works. We came today at the recommendation of our son who is an MSU student. He said he liked that Casa Bravo had more unique options on their menu. We all liked the chips and salsa starter. The salsa is different than usual, but not too spicy. My son loves the street tacos which can be ordered a la carte with whatever sides you like. Our wonderful waitress Beth was great at explaining all the meat options like barbacoa, al pastor, chorizo, carnitas, etc. I had a lunch special bowl with carnitas, cilantro rice, black beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, roasted corn, and more. Casa Bravo Mexican is, realistically, your typical Tex-Mex restaurant. You get your chips and salsa when you sit down, along with a menu. In this case I will give credit where credit is due and say that the chips were nice and thin, without being too oily, and the salsa had a nice kick to it. A bit more cilantro in the salsa would have made it perfect, but I was still quite satisfied with it. I ordered the flank steak fajitas, as that was an option for fajitas that I have not seen before, and I love a good flank steak. The order came out in a reasonable amount of time, though it was not steaming hot that way it sometimes can be, which means it was probably sitting in the pass for a little while before my wait staff was able to get to it. The fajitas were good, but they initially came with only two tortillas. TWO. I really hope this is not a trend that is happening with tortillas and fajitas... years ago the standard was four tortillas, but that slowly dropped to three... and now I get two? Two stale tortillas that had been sitting in a pre-made setup for entirely too long? The edges of these tortillas were hard from sitting out, while the insides were almost mush from the trapped steam in them and from sitting too long. The second set that I requested were the same way, which tells me that they pre-make a bunch of these at the beginning of the night and serve them out as needed. Frankly I would rather they serve me cold tortillas that just came out of the fridge. The atmosphere is a bit noisy in this place as well... I hate to imagine what it would be like on a game night. Would I return? Well, if I lived in Starkville I might get back there eventually, but I have a feeling that there are a number of other places in town that serve much better food. read more

I've heard amazing things about Casa Bravo and the food was really good. But if you're looking for good service, this is probably the last place you need to go. This is a great place for Mexican food right in the heart of Starkville. We had a family of four and ate inside. A bargain glass of wine for $3 and it was great! Chips and salsa tasted very fresh. I ordered the chicken and spinach enchiladas and they were delicious! Perfect portion! We also got fajitas and they were tasty as well. The place itself is a little on the dated side. The menus were kinda sticky, which is probably my biggest complaint as I'm trying to look through it. Service was really good. Always checking to make sure we had everything we need. The only place in Starkville to get semi authentic tacos. And that's all I want from any Mexican place. Those Tex mex tacos just won't do. Their tacos are reasonably priced, 2 or 3 dollars a poo. They have all types, like al pastor, asada, carnitas, pollo, pork belly. You can mix and match them. They come on 2 corn tortillas, how it's supposed to be. They are topped with a good amount of cilantro and onion, which is how a great taco is supposed to be dressed. No sour creme, so tomato, no cheap shredded cheese. Their drink prices are reasonable, and they have a huge drink menu. I'm more of a traditionalist, so it's just a margarita and beer for me. They mix the tequila in the margs really well, and the draft beer was cold. The service is very friendly and quick, and there was no long waits on the few occasions I went there. read more

This is our first time eating here. It was so good. Their cheese dip was amazing and very generous. We got a large and 5 of us ate on it and still had some left. The chips were fresh and delicious. I ordered the Al Pastor which is a street taco with marinated pork grilled with pineapple. 10 out of 10 I would order this again. They also had 6 other salsas to choose from and I got the spicy pineapple and it did not disappoint. My kids ordered off the kids menu. They have 6 options all for $5.25 and the drink is included. Also, kids eat free on Sunday's! (I am sure it's with a paying adult but it didn't specify on the menu) They also have a fully stocked bar and I saw someone ordered a margarita that looked marvelous. They were busy when we were there at lunch (a huge party of like 20 was there) but you would never know it. I don't typically leave reviews, but the dining experience was so horrendous I can't help but comment. I'm not sure our server's name, I don't remember her giving it and we saw her so rarely I probably wouldn't have remembered anyway. First, I'll start with the drinks. I ordered a jumbo virgin daiquiri and my boyfriend ordered a glass of red wine. We also ordered sodas which my boyfriend's sat empty with no refill the entire night. It took a long time to get our speciality drinks and when we did my boyfriend's wine was served in a glass full of ice. I've never in my life heard of wine being served with ice especially red wine. My drink was regular sized and not jumbo. I pointed it out to the server and she argued with me saying she told the bartender to make a jumbo and that's what was given; I know it wasn't a jumbo because I've dined at this restaurant before and on top of that I bartender for it years ago. She finally stopped and just got me a second one to go with my first. Second, our food was terrible. My boyfriend ordered a bowl and half the ingredients he asked for were not included. When we pointed it out to the server, instead of taking it back and remaking his food, she just brought a bowl of the ingredients for him to dump it in himself. I ordered the Starkvegas quesadilla and my food was cold and bland with the cheese completely just congealed and not hot on top of it. I decided not to bother complaining after the ordeal about the drinks. For the most part we didn't see our server all night, except we could see her in the corner with a bunch of other servers in their phones and hanging out rather than attending us. While we were eating, someone started stacking all the chairs up and mopping all around us: it was 8:15 on a Saturday. The smell of cleaning products surrounding us and the feeling of "we want you to leave so we can close," left my partner and I not even wanting to finish what was already a not great meal. I think we sat there for over 10 minutes not touching our plates and clearly done before our server brought the check. When we got the check I saw I'd been charged wrong for my drink. I pointed it out to the server and simply asked it be corrected to the price it was supposed to be. Rather than listening to my concerns she argued with me about the price and the product and so I said I'd just pay for it then because I really wanted to leave at this point. The server then said she'd just take it off rudely to me and snatched the tab out of my hands. It took her a long time to come back and when she did she never spoke another word to us after and hardly looked at us, just dropped the tab, picked it up, and then dropped it again. No thanks or have a good night. I still tipped over 20% because I've worked in the industry and I wasn't trying to get anything for free, I just wanted to be charged correctly for what I ordered. I'll be honest and say I wanted to stiff the tip after the way we were treated and the entire experience, but I'm not that kind of person. I don't know what happened to this restaurant. This is the third time in a row I've gone there and the service or food has been incorrect or horrible. It used to be my favorite restaurant in town. Between the server's attitude and treatment towards us, the horrendous bartending, the awful and incorrect food, and the general ambiance with the cleaning around us while we ate and feeling like everyone was just waiting for us to leave I will not ever be dining here again. read more

Then consisted to turn the tv up loud as hell and talk shit about us where we can hear. We were the only two tables full in this room. That was fucking ridiculous. The waiter was also very rude when we politely asked if we could move. He turned us down and was aggressive. Worst experience at a Mexican restaurant I've ever had to the point that we left before getting our meals. Such a shame that adult workers cannot get their shit together at their place of work. Stopped in here back in June 2012 while in Starkville to watch the boy at Cheer/Mascot camp...Was not overly impressed and should have went with my other thought... Did the Steak Fundido and was less than enthusiastic about it....pretty much was less than enthusiastic about the whole experience...with more specificity the experience was like the food, BLAND!!! I do recall they had a chica strumming a guitar and singing and by the time the meal was done I wanted to get my check and get the hell out because I was having unChristian thoughts of bashing her guitar against...well let's just leave it at that....
