Very, very aesthetically pleasing. You walk into this adorable Craftsman style house and there's a huge counter displaying baked goods beside a cooler with quiches. The staff were pleasant. The guava and cream cheese Danish was yummmm. Banana nutella muffin was huge and delicious. The lattes were pretty good, but the vanilla was a bit too sugary sweet. Maybe the espresso wasn't rich enough to balance it out. Definitely not bad, not the best either. The coffee cake was bone dry. The prepared foods looked delicious, though the people at the table next tji us complained about cold eggs. I will also say that it wasn't cool to walk in and see a guy holding a dog in his lap in the restaurant. read more

I've been wanting to try out the Portuguese egg tart for the longest time, and haven't found a coffee shop in Austin that sells it. Since I'm up north of Austin, I decided to check out casa costa after reading the reviews that they did have Portuguese desserts. This place definitely did not disappoint! I got here on a rainy, cold day to check it out, and ordered a galão- Brazilian steamed milk with coffee. I requested for oat milk with mine, and had a pastel de nata- Portuguese egg tart. It was baked to perfection and wasn't too sweet. It was cold outside so the oat milk coffee was perfect! The place was so cozy, I loved their choice of jazz and French tunes. Customer service was also excellent and quick. The only suggestion I make would be to arrange for more seating inside. They only had a small table and a huge one with the shelves nearby so it would be hard to get seating if you're coming in later in the day, or when it's wet or cold outside. Otherwise, I think this might just be my new local coffee shop for when I'm up north! read more

The service here can be hit or miss. They have some serious training issues with some of the staff like Gracie, who likes to eat while she works. Eating at the register, carrying her food with her to the espresso maker, eating away is quite unsanitary. The customer service is not great either with a "do you want something". I love love LOVE Casa Costa. If I lived closer I would probably go at least once a week. I have ordered two cakes from them, and they always turn out beautiful and delicious. My boyfriend and I aren't huge cake people, but we couldn't stop eating their double chocolate cake. It is definitely the best cake I've ever had. Nice little shop way out in Leander, tucked away in the neighborhood by a school in its own little quiet forested area. They are part store/bakery/restaurant, with some indoor, patio, and table lawn seating. They have some gluten free items, which is nice, and mostly breakfast/brunch items on their menu. The food was pretty good, I had the fries instead of the Portuguese bowl, and though it had good flavor, I think it would have been a bit better and less salty if they didn't use parmesan cheese, and it would have melted and covered the fries more evenly. I'm not a huge fan of thick cut fries but these weren't too big so it wasn't like eating wedges nor too thin, so you got a bit of substance and not too starchy of a bite. The prices are bit more expensive than I'd go for ($16 for the fries) but I think because of their location and being a small shop might be the reason; they also might be more prominent for their baked than menu items, but overall pretty good. read more

Everything I've had at Casa Costa has been very good. The bakery is really cute and the baked goods are nicely displayed. I have not yet tried anything except the baked goods, but plan to visit again soon for hot foods. The biscuits they have at brunch are so, so good. The best I've had in the area. I wish they had a gravy option that didn't have meat in it, but the biscuits are great with just butter. The cinnamon roll is enormous and the icing is generous. It is served warm and is very good. The coffee cake is a little different from some others. It was not as sweet and sort of had a corn bread taste. I liked that it wasn't so sweet, but my husband would have preferred sweeter. Wow! Just Wow. This a lovely gem north of Austin. I am grateful on behalf of my waist line it's the opposite direction of my work as I head in from hill county! I have been meaning to stop by for a while and I had a spare 30 min. Super easy to find off 183A. Adorable house and plenty of outdoor seating. I selected a few pastries to bring home. The apple danish has a perfect layer of cheese inside that provides a great counterpart to sweet apple filling. The danish pastry dough just melts into one's mouth. The large portion of coffee cake was devoured later that afternoon with my pm coffee at home. It was moist and had the ratio of cake to streusel I prefer with lots of cinnamon. Yummy. My only regret was that I craved some walnuts with it. This morning I am enjoying the lemon cream cheese danish. Again a winner! Even though a day old, it's still moist and flaky and I wouldn't be able to tell. Service was great. And I look forward to returning. Cute little bakery in Leander. The ambience is perfect for a coffee and a pastry outdoors (weather permitting), with beautiful blue picnic tables and great shade. Perfect for little kids to run around and play. The menu includes Brazilian / Portuguese specialities like pastel de nata but also tens of regular bakery items like scones, cookies and more. Do note that though the menu on Yelp shows made to order items like eggs and sandwiches, those are currently unavailable. A huge selection of baked goods and made to order savory options. Inside seating is extremely limited but there is plenty of space pities at picnic tables and on the porch. The lingucia empanada is especially delicious and you pretty much can't go wrong on any of the sweet treats. I would recommend skipping the coffee as I have tried it a couple times and find it hit or miss. Overall, super quirky and cute little place with yummy food and friendly staff. Icing was not diabetes sweet, good balance. I also got their oatmeal cream cookie, really liked the filling. Not an overwhelming amount of oatmeal in the cookie part. I would get again. I tired the coffee cake, boy that is THICC. So dense it reminded me of the filling of the cinnamon roll. Honestly I want to try the whole shop but lord knows I'm already big enough. My husband and I have a joke because many places I visit I judge off of a cuteness scale- and let me tell you, Casa Costa is a 5/5 on that scale. We took our little family here this AM and had a wonderfully relaxing morning drinking coffee and eating yummy treats under a shaded tree. My husband had the quiche and it was superb. We split a Nutella donut and an orange zest pound cake- also superb! I had a sausage puff and loved it! As for the coffee, I would rate their iced oat milk vanilla latte as top 3 in all of Austin- so again, really really good. My husband had an iced coffee and said it was delicious. I live in Central Austin and take a drive up to Casa Costa when I want malasadas. I like to call ahead just in case and they're always fresh and warm when I arrive. Casa Costa made our wedding cake in January 2017 and I was so happy to see them grow and serve more delicious food. Savory food is so so flavorful. Portuguese egg tarts are very yummy - crispy and flaky crust with creamy filling without tasting eggy. Cinnamon roll: it's HUGE!!! As huge as a entree plate smothered in warm vanilla icing. All the good and Portuguese pastries are very delicious - you can't go wrong with any of them! Go there early if you want to try something with Portuguese sausages as they run out of those very quickly. Casa Costa is a small house. The indoor space is very small and only has a couple of tables. However, they have plenty of picnic tables and benches in front of the house, so you will feel like it's a family picnic with other diners, which is nice. The only downside is the outdoor seating area has a lot of flies as soon as the food is out. Just have to wave them away. Corn and support this local business if you're in the area.
