BUFFALO WINGS - YOUR CHOICE OF HOT, MILD or BBQ
    Tony T.

This place is the real deal! You don't see too many places with quality thin crust pizza so I was pretty excited to try it when I came across this spot. The pizza crust is light, the sauce is delicious, and the pie is full of toppings. We also got an order of wings and they were absolutely worth it. The wings were crispy and tossed in your favorite sauces. They only have a few options but I'd recommend the hot. It's not as spicy as you think but does have a little bit of a kick. In addition to pizza, they have salads, Stromboli's, pasta, and wings. It was hard to choose so we will definitely be back to try the other stuff on the menu. The staff is pretty friendly and efficient throughout the entire ordering process. Certainly worth checking out if you are looking to satisfy that pizza craving in the Annandale area. Great alternative to the big chains.

    Sausage pizza- "regular" crust.

I ordered tonight from casa because I had seen so many comments about it being new york style etc. sorry, that's not what I got. Exactly as somebody else said, the 40-50 minute delivery turned into over an hour. When the delivery guy came to the door he asked me for cash for gas money! (I already tipped him through the app.) we got the regular crust on the pizza, so I can't speak for the thin crust, but this could have been chain pizza and you wouldn't know the difference.

This is not how pizza is supposed to look...the taste was not better.

I'm writing this review completely based on the pizza by the slice. On my phone, one of the featured yelp review comments mentioned something about this place having ACTUAL New York Style Pizza which is so hard to find in the area. This had me intrigued...but as we all probably know, you should never go somewhere based on looking at 1 review. Whoever wrote that review has never ever ever ever been to New York. If they did, they got their pizza from somewhere that is worse than S'Barros. The reviewer should have their Yelp account taken away and probably even be banned from the Internet. This was probably the worst pizza you can find anywhere in the area possibly the world. The lunch (may be all times) special is for under $6.00 you get 2 slices of 2 topping pizza and a coke. Great deal...until you see the pizza. Instead of having premade hand tossed pizzas where they just throw the slice in the oven to heat up and crisp up the crust, they just make 2 slices of pizza from scratch. They brag about being "fresh" which in theory is good, but this is pizza not seafood. Because they are creating slices instead of a pie, it is a disaster. For one thing you can't eat the slice for 10 minutes because it is always direct out of the oven. That doesn't take down any stars, but it is somewhat inconvenient. The pizza was dangerously hot. But the pizza looked like they took some crust (which was crispy and good) but then threw on the toppings (you can pick any 2, which is different due to the MTO). Then they dumped a bunch of cheese on top of it. I don't even know if there was sauce on it to be honest. The cheese was just thick clumps half-heartedly dumped on top of the crust. It was gross because each bite was just eating globs of mozzarella. Look at the picture. If you or anyone thinks this is how they do it in New York, then you should also be banned from the Internet. Some other signs that were not good. I went at 1pm and the place was empty. There was 1 person cooking in the back and 1 cashier. I don't even see how they have room to flip the pizza dough, and I don't think they do that anyway. The place is like a tiny cafeteria, nothing special to eat there. I'd be happy to go back and try their Gyro, I think that is more the style of food they are good at cooking despite pretending to be Italian with the pizza name.

It was a very good experience. What stood out to me was the excellent service by the professionally dressed servers, especially with the water, champagne and coffee refills. The dishes were all well-prepared, even if the buffet isn't huge. And actually, there was a chicken in cream sauce that was ultra ultra delish. But I understand that Fratelli's rotates dishes in their buffet, so the chicken dish may or may not be in future buffets. The buffet included your typical waffle station. It also included a dessert table, which was cake and pie. Yeah, we'd come back to Fratelli's buffet again.

The food at Fratelli was excellent, best Italian I've had in northern VA except for Scafa's in Spotsylvania County, which is far from the true northern VA. I got some noodle, mushroom, some meat dish, which was excellent. Service was good too. I'd come back here if I was ever along the Van Dorn corridor, but the odds are low of ever being around here these days. In fact, I used to live over here walking distance to here but never ate here when I did, and I've never shown my girlfriend of 1 year 9 months that apartment as we just are never over here and live a bit closer to Baltimore than DC now. Ironically, we were in Alexandria just yesterday (Old Town) for a birthday party, but Alexandria in general is quite rare.

This entree was one of the best things I have eaten this year, the sauce was a perfectly balanced tangy and herby addition to the crispy chicken. My meals were accompanied by their Sangria and Espresso Martini (which has a decaf option!). The drinks were delicious and they also have an extensive wine list which the rest of my party thoroughly enjoyed. The hostess told us we likely wouldn't sit until 9:45 so I inquired about the bar and the manager quickly stepped in to put us on a waitlist. Since the restaurant is connected to a food hall of sorts, she recommended we grab a drink there while we wait. Shortly after we got our drink, we received notification of an opening and were seated by 8:15. We had the burrata appetizer, Ragú x 2, and the seafood fra diavolo. The burrata was one of the best I've had since they serve it with pesto, pine nuts, and garlic bread. It was truly divine! The Ragú was not far behind. Incredible flavor and a generous portion. The seafood dish had a nice kick and had plenty of seafood, which is not common as of late. All dishes were also priced reasonably for the quality you received. As we sat at the bar, we had pleasant conversation with the bartender and finished our meal with a small cannoli that really sealed the deal. If you're looking for excellent Italian food in DC without breaking the bank, look no further than Caruso's grocery!
