This restraint is great. They have killer food its made fast and is always fresh. I've eaten here many time because of there 6$ lunch special. (A Chile reahno burrito no beans no rice with shredded beef covered in green sauce ( witch its pink idk why but its fuckin killer) the waiter's are all friendly and seam to enjoy there job there I mean they do work at hands down one of the best Mexican restaurant in the ojai / oak view area. Yelp really needs a no stars option. We went in for dinner and the waiter would not take our order. He brought drinks pretty quickly then said to let him know when we were ready. What? He took the orders of three tables that came in after us before we had had enough. We asked to pay for the soda and the kid at the register stood there with a blank look on his face. Amazing experience all around. The chips and salsa were amazing. The chips were light and not greasy at all. The spicy and mild salsa's that were brought out were also amazing. The best part is that both the chips and salsas were refilled as soon as they were getting close to empty. The water was great. The rice was fluffy and delicious- couldn't get enough. No menu online for ordering to-go. Was told on the phone I could get one upon pick up. Chose a tostada grande to-go. No to-go menu at the restaurant like the guy said on the phone I could get. The tostada is in a fried flour tortilla bowl. That is NOT A TOSTADA!! A flat crisp corn tortilla with all the toppings is a tostada!! And they are mexican!! Looked like crap and tasted the same. Well, I am an Oak View resident and have been eating as Casa de Lagos for nearly 20 yrs! One thing I can say is they're consistent. Their recipes haven't changed one bit or the portions sizes, just the prices. I love their food, but yes, it can get boring after so many years. However, they are very busy weekend nights, you can see a line of people waiting to get in, so they must be doin something right! I love the shredded beef tacos and enchiladas with verde sauce...Yum! Just had dinner here and WOW!! Sooo good!! Just two of us on a monday night and had to wait 20 minutes for a table. Although I don't like waiting I get that it will be worth it. It was WELL worth the wait. They called our name and table was prepared already with chips and salsa. Great salsa, no complaints. Service also great, never did I wish I had something and never did I feel like I was getting interrupted too much. I ordered just a taco plate with rice and beans. Today I was at your Casa de Lago location in Oak View at 8:00pm. Everything was good until the man serving me (mexican with black mustache) started being rude towards me and made me feel unwelcomed. I was sitting down eating my burrito I ordered, when the man serving me asked me if I needed anything else. I asked for another serving of chips. As soon as I finished my chips I asked for another serving. I noticed him hesitating a little. He came back with my chips and salsa refilled. The next thing he said to me was "Okay, now I am going to charge you for the chips". The way he said it was rude and he sounded angry. So I told him, "Then take it back. I don't want it" As I was sitting at a table reading my book he kept looking over at me waiting for me to leave. It made me feel very unwelcomed and I've been eatting there for the past 10 years. Whatever his name is, he is rude and grumpy. He either needs to leave the business or change his attitude. It would of been better if he would of told me as soon as I asked for more chips, "We charge extra for chips. Its a $1.75" But instead he waited until he was giving me my 3rd serving of chips and sounded like he was reprimanding for asking. Sorry guys, bad servers are bad for business. read more

Love this place...fairly authentic flavors but much of it is without the typical grease and spice. Some of my favorite salsa (the mild is deliciously flavorful without being too spicy), great chips, and every burrito my friend and I have tried there has been delicious. I'd drive from Ventura for this place even though there is plenty of decent Mexican in town. The best part is it's relatively inexpensive, especially if you're just doing take-out. The take-out process can be a little slow and frustrating though. They seem to have one designated person to do the register and sometimes that person is nowhere to be seen. So often you stand there waiting, getting in people's way, while the waitresses are just chatting with customers. I wait 3-7 minutes about 60% of the time, but it has been as much as 20..it's a risk if you're in a hurry. A lot of times my take-out is cold. They are also fairly inconsistent with seasoning; the same dish might be amazing one day and flavorless the next. Lastly, the amount of salsa they give you for take-out is stingy compared to what they give you when eating in-house. So...don't expect the smooth, streamlined speed and consistency of a chain, but the food is usually worth it. read more

Well, here I am on a family vacation in this sweet little jem of a town looking for something to fill my jibblets up and what fills a jibblet better than some Mexican foods. Me and my beloved family started off with the nacho appetizer plate and boy was it tastes. Even the nacho that had minimal nacho topping was delicious (a rare occurrence for any nachos). I then got to the main course, the carnitas plate. The second I put this succulent soft meat into my mouth it fell apart, as it was roasted to perfection. I had a moment of pure bliss as I enjoyed this scrumptious meal. I give Casa de Lago a 4/5 because the seating arrangements are a litte too close together personally, I don't really want to be close to another family that they judge me for getting the meat sweats from a worthy meal. We have a new Ventura Axxess card and what I love about the Axxess card is that there are restaurants on the card that we haven't tried or want to try. We came across Casa de Lago because of the Axxess card. My husband had the chicken fajita burrito and I had the tostada grande with asada. Both of our meals were excellent! Service was ok. I had the carne asada with beans and rice and a cheese enchilada , the food has a big portion of food that I could not eat all of it the meat was okay . I did like the rice and beans. Our waitress was wonderful always nice and helpful. The heat lamps help if you plan on eating outside if it's cold out. We got seated right away I would come back and try something else read more

We fell asleep & woke up in a panic our 2nd evening in Ojai. Many places were close to closing but Casa de Lago was open so we rushed to get there. Even with GPS, we drove in circles trying to find it! It is definitely a hole in the wall. Reflecting on our experience, I'm certain we were still half asleep. Without being able to recall too many details, I can say we enjoyed our food & didn't have any complaints. There were several regulars & carry-out'ers who made their way in. Which is always a good sign. My chicken fajita burrito was outstanding & I'd go back just for that. Not to mention, I think our bill was less than when we ate at Chick fil A. read more
