Casa De Pancho overall was good except the LONG, LONG wait!! We didn't get our food until after 30 mins later after we ordered. But before ordering, we waited over 10 mins just to take our order. The restaurant was short staffed with only 1 server tending to 8 tables and 4 to go orders during our dining. She was very nice and served with a smile but she was pulled from all different directions and also checking the back to serve the good. I felt very bad for her and wished she had more help so it was a better experience for the customers and staff. All the food here is very reasonable with huge portions you can share as family style. I higher recommend the chicken quesadilla and the steak and check fajitas. I don't recommend the nacho since the plate portion seemed light compared to other places. The plate looked much later in the menu pictures. We also ordered the Pancho Molcajete that came with shrimp, steak, cheese and onions. it was not worth $42 and no it doesn't serve for 2 people. It was more of the black salsa sauce in the bowl than the actual food. Very disappointing and not worth the price. I would come back to order to go but not ever come back for a sit down! read more

I had the opportunity to try out this restaurant today. Let's go over each part of the experience. Ambiance: My initial impression was that the restaurant itself was clean and tidy. However, none of the usually warm attributes of a family owned establishment. The was a distinct lack of color and warmth. Service: The service was good. I was greeted quickly and shown to a table very promptly too. (It was 4pm so it was after the lunch crowd and before dinner.) I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to experience the best possible service.) Menu: The menu had lots of options but I was set on exploring their taco Tuesday special. I ordered one of each. Food: My first surprise was when I was offered chips and salsa for $1.99. This is usually a free item at most restaurants but I thought to myself, if they are going to charge, then it must be something to talk about. I WAS WRONG! The chips were homemade but not to order. As a result, they were cool to the touch. The portion was modest and the salsa itself was barely an elevated tomato purée. That was almost no discernible spice to it. Then came the tacos. They were the small traditional street taco size which was just fine. However, none of the 4 tacos that I ordered had any noticeable heat. They were not quite cool to the touch but the certainly were not hot either. The presentation was nice as they were set on a long rectangular plate side by side and dressed with traditional cilantro and onions. I ordered 4 different meat types but the only offered one small shot glass sized salsa for all 4 of them. Sense of welcome: They were showing one of the World Cup games. In other circumstances, I might have ordered more tacos, maybe a dessert or even a beer. Unfortunately, at this point, I didn't want to stay. If I wanted more chips, they were going to charge another $2. It wasn't the $2 that was the problem, it was simply that nothing to that point was worth staying for. If they cannot get a simple plate of tacos served correctly when there was nobody else in the restaurant, I don't think there's any reason to go back to try anything else. It also offers a dedicated event space, the Casa De Pancho Event Center. This venue, located at the same address as the restaurant, can accommodate up to 100 guests for various occasions such as weddings, quinceañeras, and corporate events. They have Daily Specials on weekdays. Mondays: Hard Shell Taco for $2.50 each. Tuesday: Soft Taco $1.50 Wednesday: Wet Burrito $10.99 Thursday Fish Taco $1.50 Friday: QuesaBirria Taco $2.99 We ordered to go and bought 10 soft tacos ($1.50 each for today), and we also bought shrimp ceviche ($14.99). We had 4 steak tacos, 4 Carnitas tacos, and 2 Al Pastor Tacos. I liked the Carnitas and Al Pastor Tacos. They were flavorful but small. The Shrimp Ceviche was a bit pricey because the portion was small. It included some saltine crackers and 4 pieces of crispy tostadas. I will try their Fish Tacos soon. read more

Passing through the area thought I'd try this place out for lunch. Food was good. Service was OK considering they only had one person serving every table. Only reason why I gave it 4 stars is because they charge you $2 for chips and salsa which I've never been to places that charge you for something just given at every Mexican restaurant included. read more

I lived in West Covina for years, went to Mt.Sac for a few years and never knew about this spot until a few weeks ago. Came for an early dinner w/my family and we were the only ones inside however quite a few people would come/go for togo orders. I got the chicken/steak fajitas, huge portions. My husband got the 3 taco platter, he said it was good. We tried both salsas and they were very flavorful. Agua frescas were amazing. They have a side room that can be rented for events and they also have catering, which is neat since that area has a lot of buildings/jobs. read more

They also have a big banquet room for rental - which is also surprising because from the outside, you would not know about it. Our favorite Mexican food spot. I cannot express enough how amazing the food is. I've tried several items from the menu, and every single one has been outstanding. From the fish tacos to the chips and dip, the carne asada, and more--everything is a perfect 10/10. Our favorite, being la Parrillada. Absolutely amazing. Parking is never an issue here! Service is always on point! We've been here a handful of times and not once have ever had a bad experience. They've been under construction a few times. I have been frequenting this location for multiple years now from since when it used to be called The Mayan. I have seen it go from a small little restaurant to where it expanded and now back to an even smaller setting. I'm not sure what is going on. They have two entrances. One is a smaller restaurant and the other is a large dining area. I went today and only the smaller restaurant was open and it was crammed pack with people standing all over the place, very limited seating. The workers were hustling and doing the best they could. I typically order an all meat burrito with cheese and lately the burrito has been super greasy, and the meat has a bit of a sweet flavor to it, which I really don't care for. The server did an amazing job continuing to check on us refilling our waters and chips and salsa. read more

We were early and the only ones there so we got seated immediately. Husband ordered a chorizo burrito and I ordered the chilaquiles. The food was good. The waiter was friendly. We were given fresh/hot tortilla chips which I loved and 3 kids of salsa. Casa De Pancho in Walnut is conveniently located right next to Commons Brewery so I've bought food here numerous times to bring next door to enjoy with a cold beer or ten. They have the BEST Chicken Quesadillas EVER! It has the perfect blend of meat and cheese with just the right amount of grease that literally melts in your mouth! Can't beat the $1 tacos on Tuesdays. Especially at a sit down restaurant. We saw a sign of Taco Tuesday specials and had to check it out. We walked in and got seated right away. I saw handful of people waiting for their to go but inside was fairly empty. They have a stage towards the back of the restaurant and I saw a sign that they do karaoke nights. We ordered 8 tacos (al pastor, carne asada and pork verde) along with nacho fries with Dos Equis Ambar. OMG the pork verde was my ultimate favorite. The sauce and tenderness of the meat was just perfect. Although the fries they used on the nacho fries could be better but the beans, guac and asada they used were enough to cover up for the fries. Biggest downfall of this spot is they dont have any beer on tap. So we had to settle for bottled beer. Saw other people ordering fajitas and that looked good so we are defiantly revisiting to try their other dishes. read more

I really miss the wider setup that they had a while back. It gave a less cramped feeling than the current tables. The fish tacos were a bit bland while the churros and chips were hard to chew. The 3 Fish tacos were a lot for me to eat though, which kind of justifies the price but it's a bit pricey. The salsa was amazing as usual and spicy. The salads were priced too high for a salad though. The service was more of a walk to the stand and ask for something deal, which I thought was fine. This little restaurant is quietly tucked in to a strip mall along Valley Blvd, just east of Fairway Drive. According to other reviewers, it sounds like it used to be larger. The current spot is quite small, and noticeably plain. (I would love to paint the walls with vibrant colours, and add just a bit of art.) To their credit they play good Mexican music. The menu looks interesting, I tried the chicken flautas, which were very good. They were stuffed full with tender chicken, had lots of cheese and were drizzled with sour cream. The tortilla was crispy, but not hard like so many places cook it. The flautas were served on a plate with beans (very good), rice (nice texture, but very plain, little flavour), and a dab of guacamole (also very bland). The chips and salsa were tasty, although the salsa is very mild. Service was prompt and friendly. I will definitely go back again, but I might bring some paint or artwork with me. read more

Been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and to a great surprise there was a mariachi show when we walked in. Everyone must order an entree for the show. We stood at the entry area awaiting seating as servers and hosts bustled by us without acknowledging us, it was kind of awkward. On to the food, the molcajete was so spicy and good. I've never had one so spicy so beware if your spice tolerance is low. My teen son ordered a burrito that was as big as his forearm! He was very happy with his order. This place hit my fiesta Mexican itch -- Ambiance -- I arrived here on a Friday at 5PM, it was a little empty but I didn't mind because it meant easy seats. They have a lot of booth tables and this place is great for big parties. Happy hour ended at 6PM so we went straight into it. While we were waiting, I ordered a mangoñada and I was really excited to see the quantity when it came out. There was fresh mango bits on top and candy that I absolutely loved snacking on. DO NOT COME HERE if you enjoy authentic, quality Mexican food. I had saved this place on my bookmarks awhile ago and followed them on instagram and finally came only to be disappointed. The main dining hall where mariachi was once played (according to yelp photos) was closed and only a few small tables and booths off to the side were available. We were told that area is only open for parties now. Still, I tried to be positive and hope the food would be good even if the vibes weren't. But NOPE!! My asada burrito mojado was made with what tasted like and looked like CANNED REFRIED BEANS, the torta de carnitas had cold carnitas (a major no-no with pork for obvious food safety reasons), they were also out of a lot of the menu items and the cherry on top? Everything was grossly overpriced for what it was, for two kids burgers, fish ceviche, one burrito and one torta plus drinks total was $140! Absolutely insane!
