This was a nice find! It is across the street from where I had eaten the night before. It has a local Sonic vibe. There is outdoor seating available, or you can eat in your car. Just park and someone will come out to take your order and bring your food. We ordered the burger, fries and fresh lemonade. Everything was tasty and came out quickly. It is one of the better places to eat in Alamogordo!

This is such a fun place. It truly felt like stepping back in time. It is a classic drive in. The food is good and some of the most reasonably priced I've seen in a very long time. The service is great and everything is made to order so sometimes you have to wait. The burgers are not frozen so it is absolutely worth the wait. We loved it!

I personally felt like it could have been better. This " Lemonade" was pure lemon juice squirted into a cup with chunks on ice. The two meals we got were gross. We've came here before and they had really good cheeseburgers and pineapple shakes. Those were delicious so this time we decided to try out their mexican food and i would not recommend it. It felt very white washed and i was expecting better. Just skip the Mexican food and this Lemon drink please

I quoted... "Holy cow... That was really good!" I had the Maten burger, and my son had the tiger... Both were amazing... Properly toasted properly fried fries... it was such a delight... I would come back again for my meeting toaster burger whenever in the area!!

Came for late lunch, was still pretty packed. She came to our window and gave us menus then we ordered, tiger cub meal with cherry lime the drink was the best I've ever had. Truly fresh juice. And really fresh beef! Hub ordered mayton meal and was delish too! I'll definitely come back for the price and quality!

We gave this place a try based on the number of cars we saw there at 2:30 in the afternoon and also because of the good YELP reviews. We waited a bit for our order, but they were very busy at the time. Let me tell you--it was WELL WORTH the wait. The burger meat was fresh and tasty and the burgers were huge. I ordered the Tiger Burger based on reviews and it was way more than I could eat--but I tried because it was so delicious. My tater tots were crisp and tasty and so were the fries. My husband got the Burger Basket and that was just right--the Burger was large, thick, and tasty. I fully understand why their parking lot was full. The locals must know how good the burgers are here. We will return whenever we come through town again. Oh--the lemonade was delish!

The food was great. The place isn't looking like much, but the service and food more than made up for it.

Popular burger joint that is known for the "Tiger Burger", a double patty burger. A friend had recommended this place and a friend and I came here after visiting White Sands National Park. You take a seat at the outdoor table (no indoor seating) or in your car, and someone comes out to take your order. Note that the food is made to order, so it does take about 20 minutes for your order to come out. Credit cards accepted. I wanted to like this place, but found the food to be a bit lacking. While the service was very friendly and polite, the burger patty was so dry and tasteless. The fries were underseasoned, though the texture was solid. I had the Mayton which came in Texas toast while my friend had the cheeseburger with green chiles added. This place is local and reasonably priced so hopefully the kitchen was just having an off day.

Travelling through town, we wanted to stop for a meal where we could sit out with the dogs. Trip advisor showed only three with outdoor seating, so we tried this place. Yes, it looks like a dive, but the food is very good and SUPER affordable. I know they are known for burgers, but I wanted something different (had a killer Green Chile Cheeseburger at Chala the day before in Mesilia). The very nice waitress told us the red chile on the Enchiladas was good, so I tried that with meat (beef) and an egg on top. HUGE portion, very good Enchilada with a lovely red chile that had perfect heat. My wife had a Taco Salad with chicken, also a huge portion, and quite good. The price for two meals and two drinks was $23, which, these days, is amazing. The food is cooked to order, and all the ingredients are fresh. Service was great: you can only eat on the outdoor patio or in your car. When you arrive, someone takes your order, and you pay; easy, affordable, pretty decent, and great if you're looking for outdoor seating.

3.5 rounded to 4 Good casual spot to stop at after a day at White Sands. It's a drive-in, but there is plenty of covered outdoor seating as well. Someone will come by to take your order and bring out the food, and you pay at the register inside. I ordered the hamburger platter with green chiles added. I definitely recommend adding the green chiles since it gives it an extra flavor boost. The food is made to order and our wait was around 20 minutes. The burger was good, a little on the dry side, but the toppings helped round it out. The fries are just ok. Maybe I had high hopes for this place considering the reviews and because it was recommended to me, but I thought it was just an ok burger place.

Best burger I've had in a while. Service was fast and friendly. The vibe of the drive in was old timey and nice to take in. Would definitely recommend.

The manager incorrectly stated that service dogs must wear a vest to be recognized as service animals and demanded that we provide a "service animal certificate." We were then told that such certificates were not valid and that service animals must be registered in New Mexico before being allowed into the restaurant. None of these statements are consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Service dogs are not required to wear vests, carry certificates, or be registered with any state in order to access public accommodations. It is deeply concerning that a manager responsible for serving the public appears to have such a poor understanding of federal disability law. The experience was embarrassing, discriminatory, and completely unnecessary. I have traveled extensively throughout the United States with my service dogs and have never been treated this way. I strongly encourage management to educate staff on ADA requirements before another customer is subjected to the same treatment. Until then, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone who relies on a service animal.

The chicken fried steak was very good with white gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans and a toasted biscuit. I always toast my biscuits at home, but this was the first time a restaurant toasted my biscuit and it was great. Service was prompt and coffee refills were provided when needed. I've decided this is my go-to restaurant for comfort food. Since my first visit to Rustic Cafe a month ago, I have eaten there three more times. I tried the hamburger steak with grilled onions and mushrooms on my second visit. It was very good too, but the mashed potatoes and mac & cheese sides were only Lukewarm. I guess I could have sent them back, but the steak and brown gravy was hot enough. The mac and cheese was nothing to get excited about. On my next visit I tried the BLT on Texas toast. It seemed a bit small for the $8.99 price and the mayo tasted a little weird to me (I only use Best Foods mayo at home.) It did include plenty of thin crisp bacon, but I had trouble biting through the tomato slices since my top and bottom front teeth don't quite touch. On my last visit, I had the Rustic Cheeseburger (medium) with onion rings as a side. The 1/3 lb. burger was very good, and I thought the quantity and quality of the onion rings was excellent. Only after I got home and looked at my receipt did I realize that I'd been charged a separate $1.49 for onion rings that were supposed to be included as side with the burger. I didn't really mind the extra charge since they had given me so many onion rings and they were the best I've eaten in many years. On one visit, the waitress gave me a 10% senior discount that I've not received on any other visit, so I don't know if this is a policy or just at the discretion of the wait staff. I know others have complained about slow service, but I'm retired and always bring my crossword puzzles with me to work on while I'm waiting, so I've not really noticed if the service is slow. Rustic Cafe is not advertised as a "fast food" joint, so I am happy with the speed of the service. My servers have always been pleasant and accommodating to any of my requests. Breakfast was always my favorite meal, and I'm pleased to find a place that offers breakfast all day. That'll have to be my next visit though.
