We celebrated our anniversary at Joe's Italian on a Tuesday night around 8pm, and it was such a great experience. The service really stood out -- our waiter took the time to walk me through the menu and helped me choose the "Taste of Italy," which includes Alfredo, lasagna, and chicken parmesan. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. We also ordered mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and a meat lovers pizza to share, and both were delicious. To make the night extra special, our waiter surprised us with tiramisu and coconut cake for our anniversary, which was such a thoughtful touch. I was especially excited to see they offer limoncello cake since Olive Garden discontinued theirs -- that alone guarantees I'll be back! Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience. We were seated for quite some time before I was able to get a menu, and I had to ask others at the table to look at theirs. We were there for over 15 minutes before bread was offered. The water tasted like tap water with an overwhelming chemical taste. I understand that we had a large party, and that can sometimes cause delays, but the issues went beyond slow service. Our entrees came out before the appetizers, and the food itself was mediocre at best, especially considering the prices. The biggest concern was food safety. We had several people at the table with severe dietary restrictions. One person ordered Alfredo, and when it came out, it smelled strongly of old seafood even though there was not supposed to be any seafood in the dish. After one bite, it also tasted strongly of seafood. This person is highly allergic to shellfish and had to take medication to counteract the reaction. Another pasta with white sauce appeared to have meat in it that resembled seafood as well. When we alerted staff, a replacement was brought out, but the seriousness of the allergy concern felt brushed off. To be fair, our server did try their best with a large table and did a very good job under the circumstances. The coffee was decent, although it was not made clear that it was charged by the cup, and the desserts were also decent. Overall, the meal was overpriced, the food was underwhelming, and the allergy/cross-contamination concerns were handled poorly. I likely will not be returning. read more

I was looking forward to try Joes Italian. Well, I was sat down right away, at a corner table. I was given a menu, then I was forgotten. Yes, I was sitting there being ignored. Finally, I asked the waitress, she apologized, took my order. I ordered Siciliana Marsala, house salad was just lettuce, 2 slices of tomatoes and one ring of onion with some white cheese. I was also given 2 rolls with cheese on top, that was the best part of the meal. My order came, it was not what I ordered. She gave me Chicken & Shrimp Lamora. There was no shrimp I told her. Then I told her just give me the regular Chicken Marsala instead. Chicken Marsala came, it came with overcooked spaghetti noodle, I wanted linguini, and the marsala sauce is more like a brown gravy! My bill came, she said, they can't adjust my bill to chicken marsala, but they could give me a dessert to cover the difference! I got the Lemoncello mascarpone, that tasted very good. Bottomline, I could not go back for pasta. I didn't have pizza, so I can't comment on that. Good luck if you decided to try Joes Italian. read more

Think there has to be better Italian food here. We ordered chicken Parmesan, bruschetta, carbonara and the shrimp ala romana. The best part of the meal was the chicken Parmesan. It had good flavor and red sauce is hit or miss at most places. My husband did not care for the carbonara. It tasted like hot dogs. The brushetta tasted like it was out of a jar and was not fresh. They were out of lettuce, which seemed strange for an Italian restaurant that serves salads. Service was fine and ambiance fine as well. The iced tea was very cloudy, looked like it had been sitting for days. The food was good, noticed the prices have gone up, like everything else. A plate of plain spaghetti was $21 a little pricey. That's the price you pay when you want to get out of the kitchen one day of the week. read more

Great Service & Strong Start -- With Room to Shine I went to Joe's Italian Restaurant for my birthday, and it was only their second week open -- which honestly made the experience even more impressive. From the moment we walked in, the service was phenomenal. We were greeted right away and seated fairly quickly, which set a great tone for the evening. We started with the stuffed mushrooms, which were a great appetizer. For my entrée, I ordered the Piccata with Chicken, and my friend ordered the Chicken Parmesan. I want to be fair and honest: the overall quality of the food was good, but the chicken in my piccata was not my favorite. It was extremely tough, thick and I've never had piccata served with unbreaded chicken before, so that threw me off a bit. That said -- the piccata sauce and the angel hair pasta were absolutely awesome. Truly delicious. On the flip side, my friend's chicken Parmesan was phenomenal -- perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. For dessert, I ordered the tiramisu, which was a great way to end the meal. Overall, Joe's is off to a strong start with outstanding service and some really great dishes. Next time, I'll likely try the piccata with shrimp instead of chicken. I'm definitely willing to give it another visit and see how they continue to grow. read more

beware/ stealing (check your bank account/statement) A few weeks back we placed a to go order on the phone and when I checked the bank account the next day $5 was added to the total. My husband put a slash through the tip line when he went to go pick up the order...but... that didn't matter the employee took it upon himself to add himself a $5 tip! (Lakota was his name) I have already spoke to manger about this. After reading another review from a few days ago below mine, of the same thing happening to them as well, I had to write my review. This seems to be an on going issue with this establishment. This has to stop. Stealing isn't right and that employee needs to be fired and should've been fired the first time. And IF it's not the same employee well then they need to clean house at that restaurant. read more

Spaghetti Carbonara is an insult to the real thing! Sauce tastes like a heavy pasty Alfredo an instead of crisped guancally, they put thin slices of some kind of dried salami or something. This is deceptive! Pizza is mediocre. Decore is like an abandoned mall. read more

After three meals here, I would say that the food is just ok. They bring out dinner rolls and your drinks, take your order and soon your salad is on the table. Within two minutes of bringing the salad, your meal is served. There's not enough room on the table for all the dishes and it all feels very rushed. I found the pastas to be soggy like they are all pre cooked and sitting in water and they just add a sauce. I didn't come here for a fast food experience so I say, slow the process down! Let us enjoy our salad, bread and wine. Cook the pasta fresh, serve it a little al dente and give us a true dining experience. read more

Even though the place is still being remodeled so the ambiance isn't what it will be, it's warm and friendly. The staff was very welcoming and the service was wonderful. the food was delicious and quite a variety. The fried ravioli was delicious and we hadn't seen that on a menu in a long time. Cost right now is more at any place but we found it very reasonable for the amount of food we got and the delicious taste. We will definitely be back. I love seeing a new place in Alamo! Everyone was friendly and food was delicious. Service felt a little rushed but it's probably due to how busy they were. And I'll never complain about how quickly food comes out! I wish there was a selection of wine as it is an Italian place but I know they are new to town so I understand they are still getting their feet under them. The place is massive and doesn't make much sense it's a bit disjointed. All of the art work is stapled to the wall and there is a large black tarp that is confusing. Again I think they are doing a great job and hope they succeed. Ascetically there's a lot to be desired. That being said it was a nice first visit and we will be back. read more

The food here is amazing--flavorful, well-prepared, and honestly the only reason this place stays on my radar. Unfortunately, the customer service is a big letdown. From the moment you walk in, the front-of-house staff comes across as unfriendly and unwelcoming. There's very little attentiveness, and interactions feel rushed or even rude at times. If I could bully a restaurant it would be this one. Everything from the salt they "use" to the stock Italy photos on the wall is mediocre. Everytime me and my fiance come to this restaurant the staff without fail is inattentive and rude. The feeling you get when you step foot into the restaurant is a stuffy sense. It looks like it recently opened so maybe they have some kinks to work out. The place was huge and it was very well staffed, but again, it felt like they were still getting the hang of things. We got the calzone which was meh (ricotta was cold at the center and the sausage had a weird seasoning to it) and the eggplant parm (ordered the sub but got the entree by mistake - there was more melted cheese on top than there was eggplant and the sauce was oddly sweet). They did have free garlic bread rolls which was nice, and service was very fast. read more

This restaurant is off to a great start! The food was very flavorful and served in large portions. Our server was very attentive, and regularly came by to ask how our meal was and to refill our drinks. The interior decor leaves much to be desired, which is why I gave them 4/5 stars. The booth I sat at had a loose back and I could feel the person moving behind me. It's clear the owners invested more in their menu and food quality than the atmosphere, decor and utencils, which is fine. My visit to this so called "Italian" restaurant was at best avarage. Our service was very good. Food is below average, a frozen Italian dinner from Walmart would be as good. The decor was piss poor. In my life, I've never been to an Italian restaurant without ambiance. Lighting is too bright, seems almost clinical, nothing Italian other than plastic grapes. And to cap it off, the owners are Muslims. First and last time for me, NO THANK YOU. One star if that. read more
