I highly suggest making this a MUST stop when you're in the area. Everything from start to finish was great! The service, the food and the facility. Fair amount of parking with ample space to park a trailer or RV out back. They start you off with a basket of chips and two different types of salsa. Both where delicious with a lot of flavor. I'd say the red is slightly hotter of the two but not something you'll regret. The flavor keeps you coming back for more. Of the 6 or 7 Mexican style places I've eaten at on my trip from Albuquerque, this has by far been the best. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Casa is hands down the best place to eat near Alamogordo. The two people who are at the check in/out desk are both so friendly and hard working. They recognize my husband and I every time. I have eaten here for several years and their food is consistently amazing. I'm a big fan of their nachos with the shredded chicken which is still to this day the most tender and juicy and delicious chicken I've ever had anywhere. My husband and I joke we will get a part time job here someday just to learn the secret. Amazing place to eat. read more

Well the options for lunch in town were few. Here's what happened: Free chips and salsa were excellent. Super spicy and fresh. The waitress was very sweet and helpful. The menu was way too long. Pretty quiet weekday afternoon. My family all got the lunch buffet, which sounded like a good deal, but nearly all items had dairy, so I was out. They all enjoyed it, but also said everything was a bit mushy from being in the heated pans... curious, as we were there at the start of the buffet! I ordered the calabacitas and green Chile pork stew. The calabacitas was just super mushy, super salty, super greasy squash. Totally gross texture but flavor was good The stew was completely horrible. SO much pork that there was about an inch of pure fat floating on top. Fast and friendly service. The food tasted great and for us, the spice was perfect. It was that level where you need a tissue, but just below the line where the spice overwhelms the other flavors. I was very impressed with both the food and the service. The food came out piping hot, and it was delicious. The tamales were spicy and so tasty! My favorite was the chips and salsa. Couldn't decide if I liked the red or green salsa better, so I put a little of each on every bite! What impressed me the most was that after my little girl found a sharp corner on the bathroom stall slide latch, and I pointed it out to one of the servers, they took care of it immediately! We used the restroom again to wash up after making a mess with the honey on our amazing sopapillas and it had already been fixed! It was a great opportunity to show a timid kid that speaking up with helpful feedback can lead to great results. Highly recommend for food, service, atmosphere, and small business pride! came here for dinner, it was bad from beginning to end. Our service was slow, it took super long for someone to even take our drink order. Food service was slow as well. Our waitress seemed to be having an off day, not her fault, but she was sweaty & clearly stressed out about something ... kept making mistakes taking our order, answering our questions about the menu incorrectly, only brought us 2 sets of silverware when there were 3 of us, etc. On to the food... I ordered the assorted rolled tacos w/ guacamole. The rolled tacos were yucky. Tasted & looked like something you could buy from the Walmart frozen foods section. The cheese had a leathery texture and tasted like it was nuked in the microwave. The guacamole wasn't seasoned at all & the avocados used to make it were clearly not ripe because it was hard, chunky, and tasted wrong. My family and I used to go to the restaurant at least monthly. The restaurant was always busy. The vibe was great, the food great, and the staff were awesome. However, this restaurant has slowly declined to the point of it's not even worth a try anymore. The food is only ok but most importantly the staff are horrible. They make you feel like your a bother and they get attitudes with the customers. I'm not the only one who feels this way. Everyone is my local friends group now avoids this place. We were in the area visiting the White Sands National Monument, looking for a place to eat within 30 miles. Looking for Mexican restaurant in Alamogordo on yelp, couldn't find anything I liked based on the reviews... This place was just about 30 miles from the White Sands, thinking we wanted to come back to the White Sands before the sunset, we weren't sure if the drive was too long. So glad we decided to try this place. I really like the decor inside. Attention to the details, you will notice on nice design on small places you didn't think before. Shredded beef Sopaipillas with green chili tasted like very much New Mexican food, and their green salsa was so good I couldn't stop eating chips Very friendly service, good good, nice decor... We were stopping for lunch after a funeral service. We had family from Tucson, Albq., Denver, DFW & El Paso. The reason we decided to meet here was about convenience. I know we could have found better places in Alamo but again this was more convenient. I had heard that the food wasn't very good but we just wanted a chance to visit with family before traveling back home. My food was fine a bit on the salty side but it was fine. My burger was served on a plate that had big chips all the way around. Our waitress was surly, they served items that weren't traditional New Mexican, then she argued about it. Things did not go well at Casa De Suenos. The service was a dreadful combination of slow, inattentive, and disjointed. We enjoyed the spicier than typical chips and salsa, but waters and drinks were not brought out for at least 10 minutes. I am a spicy food fan, but it is bizarre to serve spicy food without access to a drink. Food came out of the kitchen glacially slow, despite the largely empty dining room. Our waitress disappeared for long stretches, and we resorted to walking over to interrupt the busboy who wrapping silverware for help with things. For example, a chicken nugget and french fry kids meal was brought without ketchup, and the waitress did not care to ask, offer, or check up if any would be needed. Wouldn't that be common sense? Our entrees came out, eventually, including the set up for my fajitas. However, the actual fajitas did not arrive for another 5-6 minutes. The food was ok. Fajitas were below average in quality and quantity of the steak and flavor. Tortillas were not freshly-made. Refried beans were dreadful and not very fresh. I have had Mexican food at many dives and humble locations, and the food may not be fancy, but at least it is fresh and served with some sort of care. This place felt like more of a tourist trap than a real authentic spot. This wasn't a great meal, and I would not recommend dining here. read more

We stopped here in our vacation to New Mexico at the recommendation of James at Pistachio Land down the street (see my review for them too). This was a great Mexican restaurant with quick and friendly service. We both had the two item combination plate with cheese enchilada and crispy ground beef taco. Hubby had the green sauce on his enchilada and I had queso on mine. Delicious! The ground beef in the taco had great seasoning. Let me say off the bat that this used to be one of my favorite places to eat pre-Covid. Last night was my first time back and probably my last. I had arranged a week prior for a birthday party for my best friend, so I wanted it special...we've had numerous parties there and it was always fantastic.I asked to reserve a table on the patio. On arrival I found out that the patio is no longer open, which no one bothered to tell me. We were put in the back room. There were two tables for 6 set up(actually had to wait because the tables weren't set up yet). I asked why we couldn't just do one one table pushing them together and the waitress dismissed me by just saying "we can't ". So it felt like we were in 2 separate groups. Note... later on a group of 8 came in and they put them all together. Drink orders were taken as people arrived and that was fine. After that the wait staff sort of vanished. I didn't realize they don't do free chips and salsa anymore, the waitress said it's 7.99 for bottomless chips and salsa, and we would need 3 orders for 12 people. Another guest said she'd get those. There was no bottomless chips. When the baskets were empty there was no attempt or inquiry to refill them. We finally ordered and the food took quite long. Half of the orders were barely warm, and the quesadillas were burnt. The albondigas soup is nothing like the old one, and was inedible for the most part. I could go in but this already getting too long. The waitress was not friendly, made us feel like she was doing us a favor by being there. Oh and funny for a Mexican restaurant... they had no limes for the beer, and no chilies to make chili rellenos. The food was VERY good, and the waitress attentive - however, we were shocked to learn when we got our bill that they had charged $7.99 for chips and salsa!!! In most restaurants, chips & salsa are complimentary. I was stunned. Even $2.50-$3.00 might have seemed fair, but ... !!!! The other thing that counts against them, IMHO, is that none of the staff were wearing masks. There is still a statewide mask mandate in place. I guess they choose to ignore it, and put their wait staff and customers in harm's way. Really good Mexican food. Warning. Many dishes are very spicy so ask. Their idea of spicy may not be yours! I love the fried avocado. I usually get the sampler and exchange the spicy burrito type thing (forget the name. They will no. Something avodabo or like that) for more chicken taquitos and always have dinner from left overs. Minus a star due to the lunch buffet being an absolute mess. Everything was beaten up and mushy. Tacos were ok pet hubby but that's hard to screw up. I'd have tried the buffet but nope. Really was a mess and it was only 12:30. Most everything was empty or smooshed into a pile of mess. So order off menu. You won't be sorry. Oh margaritas are wine based guava. Kind of a disappointment but not their fault. Liquor licenses are hard to come by in New Mexico. read more

The food was good and the kid's were good portions for kid's plates. the location was conveniently located if you are traveling through Tularosa. The place was comfortable, clean and very welcoming. We had a lovely meal here! The salsa and chips were a great starter and the beef sopapillas, chicken enchiladas, and green chile stew were all delicious! The wait for our food was a bit long, but we found out it was because the kitchen staff was making a new batch of the stew for us (even at the end of the night). We finished off the meal with fried ice cream, which was perfectly prepared. Also, the restaurant's COVID practices were on point - staff was all wearing masks, tables were spread out, hand sanitizer was available, and they even opened up the patio for us to sit at. I tell you what, this place deserves all the praise it can get. I've been here twice and the food is just exceptional. I've eaten at a lot of Mexican food restaurants in my life. This is above almost all I've ever tried. Be sure to ask for the green salsa to go with your chips. Both the red and green are top notch. Spicy, hot, and served with good crispy chips. I had to nearly have a skin graft on the lining of my mouth to replace all the skin cells cauterized off after their salsas! Talk about top notch spicy. Not just hot, but flavor-filled. You will need to bring with you two large quart sized Mason jars when you come to this restaurant. Both MUST leave (trust me) with the red chili chicken pasole. It is way over the top freaky good. Not exaggerating, just stating the truth. My mom and step dad go here with two one quart Mason jars on a regular basis and fill them up. The red chili chicken pasole is perhaps the most complex spice dish I have ever tasted. I asked the manager about it. He commented it changed and evolved over time with varying kitchen managers, keeping the best aspects from each manager. And how! I just can't say enough good about it. If you get nothing else, get this dish. Stop what you are doing, get your butt off the couch, and get some of their red chili chicken pasole. Is is simply sublime. Not recommended, but REQUIRED eating. Just do it. We ordered an appetizer platter that had fried cream cheese jalapeños, beer battered fried avocados, mini flautos, and small chimichangas. We enjoyed every bite. There was nothing left of the appetizer. Recommended. My step dad and I both ordered the pork steaks rubbed with red chilis. I tell you what, this was absolutely delicious. They took two massive thick juicy pork chops (steaks really) and rubbed them with some kind of mystical red chili combination, then grilled them to perfection. Just divine. Restaurant of the trip. After a nice hike, the Dad takes the GF and I here. The Dad's GF likes this place too. The place has a great Mexican feel; along with great decor. Not to dark and not to lite, it was lit perfectly. On the right side of the entrance, they had the typical little trinkets you find at flea markets. Once again, nice. The place was fairly empty as being it was a weekday afternoon. I'm sure it gets busy in the evenings and more so on the weekends. The waitress drops off the chips and dip. I can't wait to get into that, especially, other then seeing the Dad, the chilies are the other main attraction to New Mexico. This place delivered. Both the Green and Red salsa was booming. For me, neither were hot, but of the two, the Green had more kick. Just enough to make you breathe in a bit, but not bad at all. When in a different town, I like to taste regional food. What caught my eye was the Beef Stuffed Sopaipilla. I love trying new foods!! Give it to me and give me both Red and Green Chili on it. I'm there dude!! Rice and beans? Sure!! And a beer!! I'm living it large. The GF got the Albondigas, she kept it simple and safe. Quite honestly, I think those dishes do get bypassed. My dish was amazing. I was loaded with the chili and cheese. When you cut into the Sopaipilla, the beef was perfect. Then mixed with the chili, cheese, rice and bean, made for a pleasurable meal. Yes, even spooned in some of the green salsa on the rice. I was in heaven. The Waitress asked if we were ready for dessert and normally we don't do it. When she mention it was a traditional Sopaipilla, I couldn't pass. She dropped off these little pastries and then said to pour honey (which was on the table already) on them. OK! Another piece of heaven. Best dopa de albondigas since forever! This entre is excellent with the right amount of carrots, zucchini and rice to balance the tasty albondigas. Regularly visit this place for their nachos. Since they've opened up their seating area, it's regularly packed, which extends their wait times a bit. Nachos are great as is the customer service. They're used to our call and know our exact order the minute we call. I've heard their Chile rellenos are delicious as well but will update once we venture out to try some of their other dishes. read more

Went for lunch on Wednesday, overall experience was positive. The service started out excellent, but as the dining room became more full, it slowed down considerably. Wife skipped dessert sopapilla due to the time lapse between waitress sightings. We ended up having the lunch buffet. It included salad, pulled pork (delicious), 2 types of smothered enchiladas, hard/soft taco bar with beef and chicken and small cake portions for dessert. The food was very good, and the price was very low. We will definitely come again. One major complaint; they have THE most uncomfortable chairs on the face of the earth. If NASA engineers were to try for years to design a more painful sitting platform, they would never achieve success. Please, for the love of all that is holy, replace the back-killing chairs. Let me start by saying that I fully understand the difficulties small businesses are going through (particularly restaurants with all the opening, closings, restrictions, employment issues). With that being said, we had a terrible experience trying to eat here (that wasn't related to the challenges restaurants are facing). We stopped by after a long day at work for a nice sit down meal. Upon arrival we read the sign posted about being patient with them , as they are short staffed. Fully understanding this and wanting to support them, we patiently waited about 5 minutes before even being greeted. We were asked to sign in and she'd be with us shortly. She filled a call in order and we waited, she checked out 3 customers and we waited, she did a few more call in orders and chatted with one call in order customer for over 5 minutes as we waited. She then, for the first time since our arrival said I'll go clean you a table and we waited (not annoyed or frustrated at this point, as we could see she was busy.) Then a family walks in 15 minutes after we did.. we see her write their names on the list that she ask us to sign in on. She then disappeared to hopefully clean us table and then returned to bypass us to let the family she signed in sit at the table she said she was going to clean for us. Again, I totally understand the struggles of small businesses. But being totally ignored and bypassed for "regulars, friends, family" ... or whatever the case was was extremely rude. A nice "I haven't forgotten about you, it will be about 15 minutes, etc would have gone a long way in my books. I wish this business nothing but the best of success and an only writing this review, as I would want to know if this were to happen to one of my customers. read more
