This little Mexican restaurant was recommended to us; they were right! We were greeted by a very friendly server, seated by a window so we could enjoy the local sites. Lunch ordered was Taco Salad, Tres Mini Tacos, Modelo Negra, & horchata. Excellent, excellent food, very fresh, very taste, great service, & clever decor.

Restaurant has a dated, but classic Mexican restaurant vibe, but don't let that fool you the food is great! Service was great, very friendly and welcoming. Husband got the carne asada burrito loaded with crispy fries and topped in a spicy green sauce that he devoured! I simply stuck with my go to crunchy tacos that were large and stuffed full of meat and toppings! They also have a white spicy queso dip that was delicious as a starter to go with the chips and spicy salsas while waiting for our dinner. (IYKYK white cheese dip really is the best dip!) Our meals were great, but next time we'll definitely try the fajitas! The sizzling platter that went by looked and smelled amazing! Great stop when traveling to White Sands! Hearty portions, friendly people, and tasty food!

    Plastic wrapped chicken breast.

I ordered a simple plate: chicken, rice, beans, green chile. What I got was chicken still wrapped in plastic, not metaphorically, not a corner, fully cooked with melted plastic wrap fused to the meat. At first I thought the issue was the flimsy, useless plastic utensils they give you. Nope. Turns out I was literally trying to cut through plastic wrap baked into my food. Chicken, rice, beans... and a side of melted petroleum. This isn't "oops we forgot salt." This is basic food safety failure. Plastic doesn't belong in a pan, on a grill, or on a plate, and definitely not served to a customer. Completely unacceptable. If you can't remove packaging before cooking, you shouldn't be serving food. Update: I called the restaurant to report this. There was no apology, just "that's strange" and a request that I bring the food back so they could look at it. No refund offered, no concern expressed. This response was almost as alarming as the plastic itself. Update: After posting this review, the New Mexico Environment Department inspected the restaurant. The inspector told me the facility was clean and that the issue appeared to be a mistake by an inexperienced food handler, the chicken was individually wrapped, which explains how the plastic was missed. I also received a call from the manager. He apologized directly, took responsibility, issued a refund, and acknowledged that it was unacceptable. No excuses were made, and I appreciated the professionalism of that conversation.

Absolutely delicious! After trying so hard to find a good Mexican restaurant in Alamogordo, we finally found one! The food was flavorful and delicious. My sister loved the albóndigas, it came with plenty of meatballs and veggies. The menudo had great flavor, clean and a good ratio of meat and hominy. The caldo de res was packed with veggies and meat and the meat was extremely tender. The tacos al pastor (street tacos) were absolutely delicious, they are probably my favorite item. I will be ordering them again and again. This place also serves homemade, refreshing Aguas Frescas: horchata, jamaica, melón, watermelon, and mango. They also serve beer, a handful of bottled selection. The prices are decent, the portions good, and the service was friendly and attentive. If you're looking for Mexican food, honestly, try this place out!

Erica was a very attentive server. Food was very tasty. Fajitas were sizzling hot. It looked like no one was in restaurant but there was. We went close to closing but 4 more tables came in as well. The ambiance was nice. Blinds a bit tattered but food was delicious and that's what counts!

Our server was pleasant enough, but the food was just ok, and no complimentary chips and salsa. You can purchase some for $3.00 and get free refills, but our chips did not come until our meal arrived. The ambiance is cute, enough, but it seemed a little dirty.

Rizos is the best Mexican food in town. The people are nice and friendly, always greeting with a smile. I always order take out and they usually have my food ready within 10 minutes. Originally from CA, I'm not a fan of the TexMex and this place pretty much hits home with the Mexican/SoCal flavor. The ambience is home-y. Bright orange walls make you feel like you're in Mexico. The food can be a bit too salty for my liking but nothing a side salad can't fix. Just give it a try! You won't be disappointed.

Pork Tamale with green chile, rice & beans. Green chile heat & flavor was sooo good.

Let me start by saying the service was great but that is where it ended. The food was inedible, the meat was dried out and over seasoned.

Yelp is always pretty damn accurate and this place lived up to every positive word said about them. We had an order of birria tacos each and we shared a cali-style burrito. I'll just say we ate it all. It was a lot of food but we did it... stuffed ourselves with every last delicious bite. There were very friendly and cool folks working there. I wish I had more time to spend as they had some classic arcade games I wanted to try. It was pretty quiet and chill inside the restaurant. We were there between rush times so that may not always be the case but it was the case when we were there (luckily). I would imagine this place bumps at busy times. Anyhow, you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't try this place. Fricken delicious, reasonable, and fill your belly portions. 10 out of 5.

So, we did find it. Personally, I thought the food was very average and overpriced (though it appeared that there was a lady cooking in the back). I got a $10 chimichanga, and after putting sour cream on it, I realized that there was no way I could cut it with the limp plastic fork and spoon provided. So, I picked it up and ended up using about 10 of the skimpy napkins to clean the sour cream out of my beard and mustache. It came with some typical dry, orange-colored rice, and the beans were inside with some (not much) finely ground beef. I ordered iced tea, and it tasted like it had been sitting around for a week. Of course, there was no lemon--why would you have lemon in iced tea? My friends liked their food better than I did, so I may just be picky. If you like mall ambiance and fast-food taste, this place may be for you. For me, I'll revisit Si Senor the next time I'm in Alamagordo.
