The service here is terrible. My husband and I sat at the bar while we waited for a table, and the bartender never greeted us. She nodded her head as if she was trying to ask "what do you want?" About 80% of the staff has the same attitude. As if we're interrupting their personal conversations. Anyway...We ordered our drinks at the bar and the drinks were not the greatest. I had a strawberry mojito and it tasted like pure syrup. My husbands drink was the same. The food here is pretty good. My favorite dish here is the mofongo de cerdo (pork). It's so delicious! RECOMMENDED I'm embarrassed to admit that I was a Dominican food virgin, and continuously wondering about the mysteries of mofongo, until Saturday, November 12th when I hosted a dinner for my group at Casa Del Campo. I'm really glad that this reasonably priced restaurant in Deer Park changed that. If you cannot find parking in the large strip mall where the restaurant is located, go to the large shopping center across the street, as I did, to find parking. After that, if you want to copy me, enjoy a nice Pina Colada, served in a cool Ball mason jar glass. While the bar area is dimply lit, the very active dining room, on this Saturday evening, was a little brighter. My group really enjoyed the starters, which included Fish Soup, Skirt Steak or Shrimp Tostones and Beef Empanadas. I elected to start with a tasty and fresh House Salad, which came with most entrees. Onto the mains: I chose the Surf and Turf, which consisted of a perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned medium rare skirt steak and three fresh shrimp. I enjoyed it and would order it again, but for the fact that the dishes ordered by my fellow diners gave me "Mofongo envy". Whether paired with, Shrimp, Pork, Skirt Steak or Vegetables, there was unanimity stating that the mofongo here was very, very good. The Pernil was very good as well. I sampled the desserts ordered by others and can state that you cannot go wrong with the Chocolate Cake, Tres Leches Cake or Flan. I declined dessert because I was also a Sonic virgin and I headed a bit down the road to rectify that with a vanilla milk shake. Solid food. The bbq pork strips app were crispy yet juicy. I ordered the surf and turf. The rice and beans that came with it was delicious! The steak was good as well. I wasn't the biggest fan of the shrimps and lobster tail that came with it. My friends ordered the Mofongo, and they enjoyed their plates. The salad was amazing looking, The salmon was warm so the top did welt a little by the time we got it back home. The dressing was nice and light and The salmon was not dry. the plantains were perf. One of the best rice and beans ive ever had. The beans comes in this soup like sauce where you could drizzle it over the rice to really make it delish and moist. We tried this place off a recommendation from Husband's coworker (who is Dominican) and it did not disappoint. I got the churrasco medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. It was a pretty big chunk of meat and was happy about having leftovers; and even happier when after heating it up quick in the microwave, the meat was still really tender and flavorful. Gave it 4-stars bc there was hardly any beans in the side of beans (it was mostly liquid) and their site offers online ordering for pickup but our order didn't go through. Hostess was really sweet and said DoorDash or call next time. Will likely order in person next time and have a drink at the bar while I wait bc I called before we left to to confirm our order went through (the checkout message on their site was really weird and I wasn't sure) but no one answered, and it made sense once we got there. We went to Sky Zone in Deer Park and after all the running and bouncing around we were hungry, searched on the Yelp app for some Spanish food nearby and we came across Casa Del Campo Dominican Restaurant. It was just 3 miles away and it was on the way back home to Queens so it was no brainer we HAD to go there. We arrived a little after 8pm and it was packed, the hostess told us that Saturday nights is one of the busiest nights of the week and it was going to be an hour and a half wait. We decided to stay; it didn't make sense for us to go and look for something nearby or even take the drive back to Queens to eat AND the Packers and Cardinals football game was on all of their TV screens and there was a bar in the waiting area so it was a win-win situation for us to stay. The waiting area had high booths for you to place your drinks; our party of 6 got the Casa Del Campo drink of the day which was the Caribbean Rum Punch. This drink was made from scratch and it was not premade what so ever and it was a strong one too. Even though the hostess told us the wait time was going to be an hour and a half, we were seated within 45 minutes, which wasn't so bad. We were drawn to the Dominican Nachos: plantain thin chips covered with cheddar cheese and bacon that came with mango salsa and guacamole with pieces of shrimp. This was amaze-balls, I've never had such a great combination of plantain and guac. For an entrée I got the Bistec encabollado (steak with grilled onions) with tostones, this was also amaze-balls but with the appetizers and the basket of bread they offer and the Caribbean drink I was too full to finish my delicious plate. They had a guy singing live modern Spanish songs, he was great and his voice was amazing. The kids at our table even got up and dance a little salsa while he sang. It was a great night and even though Casa Del Campo is miles away from home I will definitely take the drive back to taste more of their amazing food and drinks. As were were leaving close to 7:30 pm, we noticed that live music being set up front and center. I like simple food and don't tolerate salt or additives, so I was concerned at first about eating here, but everything was fresh, made from scratch and as I write this hours later I am not at all thirsty, which is what I would have expected. The Dominican Nachos , an appetizer but more than enough for my meal, was fun and unique, a bed of long, thin plantains with a very light layer of melted cheese and a sprinkle of bacon, accompanied by a small cup of seasoned, mashed avacado with small but whole shrimp and a more liquid than particle salsa type cup. It was good...Lee enjoyed his pernil and yucca fries, which came with an absolutely exquisite fish soup....cream based but reminiscent of a Greek lemon rice soup in consistency, studded with potatoe and the most luscious pieces of melt in your mouth fish...almost like a scallop....simply fantastic. Next time I would have a jumbo bowl,of this soup. Our daughter had plaint aim cups filled with chicken...while she enjoyed the bite sized fried chicken filling, the starchy she'll was not her favorite, but enjoyed a side of rice and black beans. Once again I was amazed at how neither the rice nor the soup was remotely salty.....really delicious and we were able to appreciate the fine home style cooking and love that went into each and every dish. The food was served on modern white dishes, all square or rectangle giving another impression of well thought out presentation. We happen to come over here when I was craving some dominican food while in the area and boy did we get more than I bargained for!! Some people say if you've been to one dominican restaurant you been to them all and that may be true but Casa Del Campo has broken the mold on the classic dominican restaurant! Like shrimp really nice touch! along with red sauce and boy it was as good as it looked, I would give it 2 thumbs and 2 big toes UP! That got followed up with small chicken soup that came with my entrée and it was surprised was so so good nice touch! The entrees I went traditional and got the Skirt Steak with yucca fries again made in house. I would like to commend the owner on not cutting corners with buying premade side order stuff to save time, nothing beats authenticity. Steak was delicious and it came with 3 different sauces which was pretty crazy but I especially enjoyed the garlic sauce. My son got the chicken tenders with rice and beans and wow his plate was huge! I must say the portions this place gives is amazing along with a beautiful large plate Cannot forget to mention the live singer they had that night playing classic Spanish cover songs he's very talented made and my night that much more enjoyable. I ordered the pernil, which comes with choice of soup or salad and one side. My soup, a fish chowder with a touch of cream was delicious. It contained nice fresh root vegetables and chunks of pristine white fish with a perfect texture, soothing and satisfying. My pernil plate was ridiculous, there must have been a pound of well seasoned, lush juicy shredded pork accompanied by hand cut yuca frita. The yuca were hot and crisp, they benefited from a little shake of salt. I also slathered them with some of my daughter's green sauce and even dipped into the juices at the bottom of the pernil plate. Next time, I am thinking I might try the pork with rice and beans or the mofongo. I had a worked up a real appetite all day, and could not make it half way through the entree. My doggy bag truly delighted my son for his pre-work lunch this morning! From the conversations I had had with people who went there I just imagined a different vibe. The food was really good. We got chicharron and tostones to start. They were delicious. I was craving home style Dominican food (since I can never recreate my moms) and was very pleased. Stopped by here on a Saturday afternoon to take my parents out who aren't big on eating out unless it's Dominican food. The place itself it really nice and the bar adds a nice touch. Before going here I read the yelp review that complained about the slow service. Unfortunately, that still seems to be a problem for this place. We waited about 10 minutes after being seated by the hostess when I finally had to get up and ask her what the hold up was. No waiter, no water no menus. It's obvious that they need more wait staff for peak hours of business. Only reason why I can't give them 5 stars. With that being said, the service after complaining was amazing! Our waiter Ray was super attentive and made sure we were happy with our food. A cook by the name of Kelvin even came out and helped out as well. Both of them went above and beyond to make sure the rest of our experience there was a good one. I had the steak which was amazing. We also ordered the sampler that was also very good.
