Been recommended this place lots of times, so glad I finally decided to try it! Fiance and I did a little date night here and it did not disappoint. They were busy, but the staff accommodated us last minute which was so nice. Drinks were fantastic, the bartenders love what they do and it shows. The food was sooo good. We ordered some appetizers and the pasta and the short ribs for mains, all were fantastic dishes. The short ribs were my favorite though, seasoned well and the cilantro mashed potatoes it came with were EVERYTHING. I'd come back for a side of those alone. The pasta was a little dry and could have used more sauce, which is why I knocked them down a star. We'll definitely be back to try other dishes!

We came here in a large group and was immediately welcomed and seated quickly. The first thing I noticed is that this is not a tradition Mexican restaurant like I had imagined. It is much more. Our waiter was great, good customer service and attentive, we were a large party and he handled us all seamlessly. I ordered a peach lemonade, the chicken dish and empanadas. My husband ordered the steak kale salad and my kids ordered chicken and fries. Everything was soooo bomb! That peach lemonade? The best I have ever tasted in my life, I want to go back to get a pitcher of it. It was THAT good. I had the veggie mushroom empanadas delicious , the whole table wanted to try. My chicken dish was equally as good. The whole experience was a 10/10 . We will definitely be coming back here and highly recommend

A friend recommended this restaurant. We arrived at 11:30am on a Wednesday and were seating immediately. Our party of 3 ordered a Charcuterie Board and Ceviche Trio to share. For our entrees, we ordered the Argentinian Skirt Steak accompanied with Frites, Sautéed Greens, Fries and Chimichurri Sauce -- and the Mezcal Glazed King Salmon with Cashew Relish, Purple Potato Puree (so interesting!), Shaved Brussels Sprouts, and Chipotle Butter Sauce. Food was fantastic -- straight to the point and with boldness from the Latin influence. The ambiance aims for a higher end dining experience, and there is a full bar with additional seating. Must be a local favorite for Happy Hour and dinner. Jonathan was our server -- shout out to him for his efficiency, attentiveness, and professionalism. He responded at every interaction with enthusiasm and a smile. Would definitely return.

My first time going here so I was really excited since it's a Latin vibe! First off, parking was not the greatest. A little on the shady side. Dark and the parking is somewhat tight. I was not liking the location but still excited. Ok, inside is much better. Loving the vibe. The hostess was very friendly. She seated us right away. Our waitress was superb. She was very friendly, chatty, and helpful. We ordered our drinks. My go-to cocktail right now is Hibiscus Margarita with tajin rim.... So yummy! I also ordered their Noche en Paradiso....omg! So good! Now for food. We ordered their beef and also mushroom empanadas for our appetizers. Both are delicious. For our main dish we ordered the Parrillada Mixta. It had a grilled half chicken, Italian sausage, steak, papas bravas, roasted garlic and onions.... So yummy! The men ordered Midwestern Angus Ribeyes.... delicious! Apparently they have salsa lessons and dancing on Sundays so we will definitely go back for that lol.

I had the most wonderful time dining here the atmosphere is so peaceful vibrant and perfect for a friends gathering. I tried a few dishes with friends and was blown away with the amount of favor each dish had to pack!! The pork belly was tender and crispy a perfect blend seasoned to perfection. The mushroom empanadas were definitely unexpected but very tasty. I would highly recommend trying out this fantastic spot.

This is by far the best brunch spot in downtown Hayward. Liliana was our waitress and she was absolutely amazing top-tier customer service. Armando was also great and made the experience even better. Bottomless mimosas for $26 you really can't beat that. The guava mimosa was my favorite. The short rib Benedict was incredible, and the Desayuno Del Toro was packed with flavor. The chimichurri sauce, the spicy potatoes everything was mouthwatering. The atmosphere, energy, and overall vibe were amazing. Highly recommend this place definitely a must-try for brunch.

Came here for brunch and had a great experience overall. This Latin American spot in downtown Hayward has a beautiful interior and a really nice outdoor patio, which makes it feel perfect for a weekend meal. We were able to get seated without a reservation on a Saturday around 11:30am, which was a pleasant surprise. The steak and eggs were excellent--cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The papas bravado were a standout too, with just the right kick of spice. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. It's a tad on the pricier side for brunch, but honestly, I think it's worth it for the quality of the food and the great, attentive staff. I'm definitely planning to come back to try their dinner, especially since I've heard nothing but great things about it. Solid spot and worth checking out

Came here on a weeknight during dinner. It wasn't busy. We ordered the calamari and ceviche for appetizers. The taro chips with ceviche is always a good pair. While browsing the menu, the server came to take our orders and I told him I wasn't ready yet. He didn't say he could come back but instead started taking others' orders instead. I felt pressured and rushed but I ordered. No problem. The entrees were good. Really enjoyed the skirt steak and beet salad. The only strange thing was that our server asked me if I wanted a box for my food literally while I had my fork in it pre-bite because I was still eating. My friends just looked at me and laughed. I accepted the box but it was such a weird interaction. Our waiter seemed like he was in a rush to kick us out all night. Glad the food improved since the last time I came! But the service is still mid. Weird experience.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant from start to finish. The food was absolutely on point, especially the fried chicken Benedict perfectly crispy fried chicken paired with rich hollandaise and soft, fluffy bread underneath. It's one of those dishes you don't expect to be that good, but it really stood out and was easily the highlight of the meal. The ceviche Trio was just as impressive. Each portion had fresh, bright flavors with the right balance of citrus and spice, and you could tell the seafood was high quality and very fresh. The service was friendly, attentive, and fast without feeling rushed, which made the whole experience even better. Everything came out at the right time and the staff checked in just enough to make sure we were good. The ambience was also a big plus clean, comfortable, and had a nice relaxed vibe that makes it a great spot for brunch or a casual meal with friends.

I ordered the short rib benedict. The egg was cooked perfect and I like the hollandaise sauce. However, the short rib was quite salty. The potatoes were seasoned well.

Do yourself a favor and come have brunch here! We had a whole spread of delicious dishes. Ceviche Trio, Mezcal cured Salmon Toast, Vegetarian Benedict, Benedict del Toro, and the Fracturas del Toro. The ceviche was honestly a great way to start. Super fresh and all very different flavors. Refreshing, sweet, smokey, and tangy! The yuca chips were so light and crispy, a perfect compliment to the fish selection. Salmon toast was another clean and light appetizer. Another great starter to warm up the appetite. (Not pictured because we ate it too fast ) Vegetarian Benedict was a huge hit for me. All sorts of sweet and spicy peppers under a perfectly poached egg and creamy hollandaise sauce on top of a crispy polenta cake! My friends Benedict del Toro looked great as well. Filet cooked perfectly! The potatoes were tossed in a tangy pepper sauce that was an added bonus to an already delicious meal. We ended the meal w/ coffee and the Fracturas del toro (beignets) with house made Mexican chocolate and dulce de leche dips! Super light and flavorful but not too filling. A lovely sweet tooth fix after a full breakfast! If you're smart, you'll stir in some of that chocolate and dulce de leche into your coffee! Service was top notch, all the servers know the menus inside and out and can help you make the right decision if you can't decide what to get (which we could not!) Go visit before this place has a line out the door. With football on the TVs and huge outdoor patio, this place is a recipe for bustling Sunday brunch! read more

Great option in downtown Hayward. Restaurant is clean with a nice ambiance. Our server was nice and attentive. The bartender prepared great looking cocktails and brought them over to the table herself. Food was visually appealing and tasty. We decided to work our way through a few appetizers like the ceviche trio, ribs, and bone marrow. Saw a great looking dish that comes out on sizzling cast iron that'll I'll be trying next time! read more

Casa Del Toro is a welcome and much needed premium addition to the Hayward dining scene! I was lucky enough to attend the soft opening and was impressed by the tastefully remodeled interior and the fresh and approachable Chef driven menu. As you'd expect from a restaurant and bar from the same ownership as The Mexican on Hesperian, they offer a wide selection of premium tequilas and cocktails. The ceviche trio was a fresh and flavorful start to the meal. We followed up with the mezcal glazed King Salmon and braised short ribs. Both were excellent and hardly left us with enough room for dessert, but with delicious guava creme brulee and Mexican chocolate bread pudding on offer we managed to finish everything. I'm excited to continue to explore their menu and will be back soon! read more

I had to share my dining experience at Casa Del Toro on B Street in Hayward. It's only been open a few months. It isn't the typical Mexican restaurant. No enchiladas or burritos, etc... I was there for the happy hour menu because the Carne Asada Tacos are delicious. You get two with chunky tender well seasoned pieces of steak meat with charred onions & mushrooms. And the tortillas are house made. They also have a fish tacos, (spiced rock cod). I also had a salad from the regular menu. It was the Ensalada de Casa. That had mixed greens, candied pumpkin seeds, lemon vinaigrette, queso fresco, & Asian pear. OMG. I'm a salad fanatic. It was one of the best salads I ever had. It was the perfect combination of sweet, salty, tart, & crunchy. The lettuce was so fresh. I was a satisfied customer! read more

We had the most amazing time here today. The bartender Cynthia is an absolute sweetheart. We came in early so it was brunch time. The drinks were great. The food... the food was AMAZING. The ceviche trio is a must. Husband had the Del toro steak and eggs breakfast and I had the salad with grilled chicken. We left completely full and with a new regular spot. We showed up on a whim not having been there before. To our surprise, the live music (Latin Groove) was wonderful as people were dancing. We would hire them for an event in the future. The food was another pleasant surprise. We were hesitant to order from the non-tapas menu because we aren't accustomed to paying this much in the area. The salmon was super tasty, and the deconstructed paella was fabulous. We ordered more saffron rice to go. And the great toast were brought to us upon request twice. The overall service was welcoming and our server was a cordial person. Going back next time we're in town! read more

Hayward has a lot of hidden gems and this place ranks on that list. Date night Dinner after a long day at work brought me here. The dinning area is clean, vibrant, young. Booth seating and table seating with a full bar on the left with lots of additional seating. Menu is easy and full of surprises. Appetizers, entrees and cuts of steak. Appetizer list includes shrimp, ceviche, ribs, empanadas I ordered the gambas negras seasoned blackened prawns on toast. Large prawns with citrus butter seasonings and spice. Loved these so much flavor packed into these prawns. I also ordered the peach and burrata salad. Refreshing but nothing spectacular buurrata was the highlight. Entree was the saffron seafood pasta lots of prawns, clams, scallops, with a nice saffron sauce. This menu has inspiration from various different Latin cuisines. Wonderful playful delightful inviting - this place with its food, atmosphere, friendly service is a gem in the ever changing Hayward area. We arrived for our reservation a little late but the hostess had the table ready for us. Our waiter David explained the menu and was very attentive when we told him this is our first time. My wife ordered the filet mignon with cilantro mashed potatoes and I had the skirt steak with mushrooms and prawns. My wife says the filet mignon was the cooked to perfection. This is a great spot in downtown Hayward. I have had a Women Wednesday event here and have met up with friends and family for a good meal. My boss also likes this spot saying they have a great tequila selection. I just wish their happy hour was longer and later. I have been for brunch, lunch and dinner. I wish they brought back a salad I loved with shrimp. Friendly service and they take reservations. Plenty of parking around and there are a lot of events that take place down B Street. We were in town visiting our daughter who goes to Cal State East Bay and wanted a nice dinner spot, found this and decided to give it a try! The food, ambience and service were outstanding!! We were seated right away, the staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about their options. We ordered some drinks and the empanada appetizer, wow! So good. For dinner I got the seafood paella, our daughter got the seafood pasta and my husband got the salmon. Everything was delicious! The drinks here tasted great! The truffle fries were a good pairing with our drinks. I had a reservation for 8pm & was there until about 10pm. The service was a bit slow but I don't hold that against them since a lot of places are lacking wait staff due to covid. Our waiter was nice as well. We ordered the filet which is the most expensive item on the menu but it was very dry for a medium rare. I don't ever send food back but since the food took so long we expected more flavor. We sent it back after 2 bites but finished the sides & they took it off the bill. We shared my salmon which was good. read more

I was so happy when they opened in downtown and even more excited when I tried all their food. Their drink are amazing. I haven't tried one I didn't like so fresh. Food is delicious. Food is fantastic- menu is updated regularly, but the tried and true dishes tend to remain. I love when the appetizers are served with extra onions and peppers as a garnish. The steaks are fantastic, and if you are lucky enough to dine on a day when bone marrow is on the menu I highly recommend trying that. It's one large bone in half so the portion is not huge, but delightfully tasty and served with bread and garnishes. I have personally tried to copy the cilantro mashed potatoes since dining here a few times now. They have a full bar and a nice rotating cocktail list as well. Good place to go on a date, watch the game, or meet up with friends. Quiet enough for a business meal, and seems like they accommodate large parties well with advance notice. Thank you! read more

I went friday night and sat at the bar, I literally had to flag the bartenders down to get there attention because even though they were right in front on us they never paid attention, ordered the ceviche and the chips were full of grease, we ordered brussel sprouts and they had a layer of grease on the bottom of the plate, the salmon was raw, the 5 cheese pasta had grease dripping from it and the creme brulee was not fresh, it came out very fast for it to not to be warm on top, horrible experience and it now makes sense why it's never full and to top it off my champagne was flat!! read more

Finally decided to give this place another shot. Service so much better this time. I think our server's name was Dave. The drinks he recommended were good. Went in for a solo dinner and definitely enjoyed my experience. Not too many people, the host was welcoming and my server made sure to check in on me. I started off with a half dozen of oysters that were just to my liking, fresh! The Mignonette sauce that came with the oysters was well balanced. I ordered a side of papas bravas that we're okay. The Mexican in me was thinking they were going to be bravas like spicy but that was not the cause. I couldn't really tell what the sauce was supposed to taste like but the potatoes were well cooked. The trio ceviche was served beautifully. I've never had ceviche served with yuca chips so that was definitely a unique touch. My favorite out of the three was the Halibut ceviche, the acidity was just right, not too much or too little. That tuna ceviche was definitely fresh but could have used a little more citrus flavor for my liking. The shrimp ceviche was basic nothing to rave about. I would definitely order the ceviche again. Lastly, for the entree I order the braised short rib served with Cilantro mash. Loved the presentation. The short rib was braised just right. I've never had cilantro mash and I must say it was yummy. The only thing I have to say is that the juice from the short rib was a little to salty for me, I can definitely taste the sodium. Came here for date night on Valentines Day. They had a special menu available for the holiday, regular menu was not available. It was a 3 course meal per person w a set price that included appetizer, main dish and dessert w a few options to choose from in each course. Brought some heat with piquillo peppers on the side. I had the pork chop that was impossibly delicious. Really thick with nice grill marks and still tender and juicy. Served with yummy creamy polenta and roasted root vegetables, cooked perfectly. My friend had the short ribs. So tender and the cilantro mashed potatoes went well as a side. Didn't offer us another drink, didn't take the dirty dishes from our table. Ignored my wife when she was speaking. Our food was delicious. I was hoping for a good first experience here. My friend and I were walking past this place and decided to stop by for lunch after it captivated our attention. The atmosphere was surprisingly good for a business in Hayward.
