But my eyes diverted to the deli counter, where heavyweight subs were being assembled. I ordered an Italian wedding cake for my grandchild's birthday on October 7th. I'd ordered one years ago. It was not good. No one at the party liked it. There were hardly any strawberries and they were frozen berries. The frosting was not sweet enough. It was not at all good like I remembered. Our favorite bakery. Love coming in on a weekday stop or weekend. Weekends can be busy so get there early. We had our wedding cake from here and and birthday cakes they are to die for. Stopped at the North Olmsted Fragapane Bakery today. Weather was terrible so there weren't many customers. We stopped to pick out bakery for a get together. The woman behind the bakery counter could not have been more rude and impatient. (I believe I heard someone call her Frankie) She is a perfect example of customer service giving a delightful business a bad name. When/if I go back, I will make sure she does not wait on me. I need to decide if it is worth terrible service to spend my money on delicious pastry at a bakery I have always enjoyed. A small shrimp salad was really pricey at $9 but very tasty with a lot of small shrimp, cubes of cheese, and mayo with celery for a great crunch. The donuts today were not totally stale! The blueberry glazed cake donut was not dry although not as moist as a Spudnut donut. The glazed yeast donut was definitely not very moist and was kinda dry. It would've benefitted from a few seconds in the microwave if I were home. The star today was the amaretto cookies. They were super moist and oh so flavorful. Ordered a 'Cleveland' Cassata cake for Easter. Picking up the cake was a nightmare. Store was crowded and the line for service was disorganized and confusing. Let me note: This store location is ALWAYS busy and crowded, not just for Holidays. Service workers were somewhat helpful except one who was extremely loud, rude, and snippy. The bakery case is long, and it takes a minute to look at the offerings. There is no space to look because the checkout line is just as long and blocks the view. The workers shout at you 'who needs something' yet how could one know what they want if they cant even get close to the bakery cases?? The overall feeling I had was being rushed. The cake I ordered was a complete letdown. Hardly any filling...it was thin and it tasted like Jello pudding. Literally maybe 5 strawberries in the entire cake. I was so disappointed. Reached out to the bakery to give my feedback (not ask for a refund) and they were completely dismissive. No accountability or even a meager apology. I can't say enough how great this place is (specifically, the one in North Olmsted). The only bad thing about Fragapane's Bakery is that they are closed on Mondays! We have been here twice in the last couple weeks. The first time we were told the slicers were down. I believe they had already been cleaned for the day and the girls just didn't want to use them. We were there 15min before closing. The girls at the deli were rude and not helpful. We left without ordering anything Today - on a Saturday- we got there 4hrs before close and were told they were out of sub bread. We ordered sandwiches on bread. This seems like a usefull place to have in the area. It's an Italian deli with a bakery counter as well as good selection of food, including in-house-made pizza. My friend and I tried out their pepperoni pizza first since it was lunch time. The slice was so large that we asked them to cut it in two and it was ridiculously cheap, like less than $3 cheap. The pizza itself was honestly pretty average, I've had way better and I've had worse. But if you're in the area and you need something quick to eat that won't be too expensive, definitely stop here. After that we clearly needed dessert so we got a blueberry donut to split, a lemon cake pop for me and a s'mores cake pop for her and she got a cannoli to go. The donut was also pretty average, not too dense. My lemon pop was a disappointment. It had white chocolate(?) coating and the inside was mostly very sweet cookie dough with a small dollop of lemon custard. There wasn't enough of the lemon custard and it was overall very sweet - I would have liked it to be a bit more tangy. My friend loved her s'mores cake pop, sweetness and all, so maybe it was just me. Overall, I wouldn't say make the drive but if you're in the area then stop by! read more
